Really disheartened by my experience with Lenore. This is not to knock her character, but more so, the level of communication, professional negligence, and lack of responsiveness and follow-through. Here's the story about my experience (decide for yourself): I filed my taxes with Lenore in March of last year, only to never get my return. I followed up via email multiple times, only to find the taxes were never actually submitted-- and there was minimal accountability that Lenore took for not submitting them. I overlooked that experience and decided to work with Lenore again this year. I went on a Saturday and after getting all the way through the numbers and the end of our session, there was a concern regarding one of my W2's and Lenore said she would follow up on Monday. Monday came and I didn't hear from her so I followed up via text and she said she would circle back. I followed up a couple of hours later-- NOTHING. Throughout the course of the week, I called about 10 times, sent multiple texts, and emailed. Only one of those correspondences was answered and she said she would get back to me-- she did not. So today, I drove by and Lenore (didn't apologize for the lack of correspondence). Rather, she said she sent a text about a mileage discrepancy (I showed her my phone-- that text was never sent). Then, she said the real issue was that there were too many red flags on my taxes... completely disregarded the W2 stuff she said before. Now, the REAL issue she said was that she didn't feel comfortable submitting my taxes. However, that was never communicated when we met nor during the 10 times I called. Why were none of my calls responded to or answered? SO all this time, energy, and effort corresponding and multiple trips to her office and this was the first time hearing this. What would've happened if I didn't drive down today? Would I have ever heard back? I'm sorry, but that is professional negligence, everything from failure to respond to communication and an inability to communicate truthfully. read more

Steer clear of this place. Initially I really liked and respected Lenore for being a nice women but when she failed to submit my tax return properly, resulting in my tax return never being issued ($1500 lost in limbo) it became an absolute nightmare. In a word, this operation is very UNPROFESSIONAL. I have called repeatedly only to be sent directly to voicemail. Before I can hang up she immediately will text you saying "please text me instead." That's right, you are relegated to summing your entire issue into what can be sent via a text message. If that isn't bad enough, what's worse, she doesn't respond to the text messages either! I have texted and called only to be told to text again. I explained that she didn't respond to my last text and unsurprisingly she didn't respond to that text either!! At one point early on she actually did answer my call, was cordial and said she'd look into it and proceed to ghost on me altogether. I gave a 10 days to respond. It was like "out of sight out of mind" with her. She needs to get a hold of her business or retire. Her service is deplorable. read more

Overall a decent experience, not the best due to miscommunication on our part as well as Lenore. There was a few issues with my nephews taxes and we ended up having to come back twice to fix it. While I have done my family taxes on an internet system with no issues I didn't feel comfortable enough to do my nephew as a self business owner. He did however end up having to pay more with her than through my estimate that I did online. Professionalism aside Lenore is a sweet and thoughtful woman but she will never return your call during tax season so don't bother, just go over. read more

Lenore was referred to me by a friend and if we had all of our documents at our first meeting it would have been a fine experience despite her putting my husbands work under my name (on our federal taxes) and we had to correct her. We only hope that the numbers she inputted were correct since we didn't have time to go through it all thoroughly and she was making a number of typos while talking down to us for not having all of the information she wanted. When we tried to reach out a few days later with the additional information she needed, we never got a call or text back. A month later my husband got her on her cell and she said she'd call back, she did not. I got a hold of an assistant on the office phone who said Lenore would call us back, she did not. A week later I got Lenore on the cell phone and when she said she'd call me back I replied (in a kind tone because she has all of my tax info and all I want is for them to be filed) "I'm so sorry but can we handle this now because I'm afraid you won't call me back." She replied, "Oh yeah..." and then hung up on me. My frustrations were so high at that point because she needed 2 numbers from us, we had tried texting, calling and emailing them to her for a month and our taxes were due in a few days. She brought me tears when she rudely hung up on me. That evening my husband her had a text exchange that ended with him having to come in to her office, waiting over an hour, giving her the two numbers and watching her submit our tax returns. She took our money and then said "Sorry that you're wife got upset with me". He said, "Sorry you hung up on her is what you mean". We were hoping to develop a relationship with Lenore so we could return to her next year but that will not happen and we will be shopping around for a tax person who can communicate professionally with their clients. read more

This is the first time I've felt compelled to write a Yelp review, because my spouse and I had such a traumatic experience with Lenore, and we really feel obliged to protect others from her incompetence and lack of professionalism. In the course of Lenore doing our taxes for 2012 (state and federal), we had to visit her in her office on two different occasions, email her ten times, and field several phone calls. In the second office visit, Lenore screamed at my spouse until she broke down crying, blaming her for Lenore's unclear instructions and snapping at her for looking at Lenore's computer screen. After our taxes were filed, we discovered that Lenore had made two HUGE mistakes: 1) telling us that we could claim four times the deduction/exemption we could actually claim in one instance, and 2) reporting the WRONG spouse as self-employed, after we provided multiple documents and verbal confirmations as to each spouse's income source. When confronted about the rude behavior and incompetence, Lenore repeatedly refused to apologize and instead blamed us for her mistakes. She also refused to apologize for making my wife cry in her office. Lenore is the least professional imaginable tax preparer. Both her understanding of tax law and forms, and her personality, are abysmal. In reporting her we only hope to spare others from the many months of stress she caused us. read more

I needed a notary on a Saturday morning and called up the bank where I have used Notary services before. They referred me over to Lenore Solis. Boy am I glad they did!! Not only was she able to accommodate us right away but it was walking distance from our home. She is known to meet someone at another place but in this instance her office worked perfectly. My paperwork was handled quickly and efficiently and on the weekend no less. I am a firm believer in credit where credit is due. Lenore is a little hard to get in touch with but once you're a client, she takes great care of you! She works weekends leading up to Tax Day to ensure everyone can get in. She will walk you through the process, as she's doing it so you understand whats happening. Make sure you know what to bring ahead of time, though. You don't want to miss your appointment due to lack of documentation (i.e. Your IRS Pin Number, moving expenses, etc.). I was going to file my own taxes this year via TurboTax since I've heard so many good reviews on it. However, I failed miserably. My taxes were more complicated this year so I didn't want to proceed with TurboTax and risk getting audited for something stupid. Don't get me wrong, TurboTax is legit and I would use it if I was filing a simple tax return. Anyways, I checked good ol' Yelp for some assistance. I found a few 5-star-rated tax businesses around my area (DTLA, Echo Park, NELA) but for some reason, Lenore Solis & Associates stood out for me. I saw the reviews for her as well. All 5-stars. She must be good, I said to myself. So I booked an appointment for today at 11:30am. I came in with a bag full of paperwork and in 35 minutes I was out. She educated me on the type of tax return I had and the expenses I was able to report. I was going to report some expenses that I wasn't allowed to if I proceeded to do the taxes myself. She saved me from a future headache. She was friendly, educated, funny and seemed very genuine. The cost for her to do my taxes was VERY reasonable. I left the office extremely satisfied. P.S. I used to work for H&R Block as a customer service rep. and knew that they ripped people off. Most of the tax reps there are FIRST TIMERS with NO EXPERIENCE. I used to get my taxes done there by a good friend for the past 7 years until he quit. Even with his discount, it was expensive. I will NEVER go back there again. I've faced a lot of frontiers but from what I understand the whole tax deal is a hell of a beast. Have you ever walked out of a notary public's office and said "This is going to be a great day!"? This is exactly what happened after having met Ms. Solis in her office in Atwater Village. I needed one document notarized and a few other items photocopied. When I walked into the office, she was speaking to some clients and I waited for her to finish. I knew I had to wait because I did not make an appointment. When it was my turn, she was very pleasant and welcoming. While she was getting my paperwork together, we chatted about the book I was reading in the lobby, my academic goals (we were notarizing some forms for school), and my career goals. She was very understanding of what kind of stress I was under and very supportive of my endeavors. She wished me well and we exchanged some lovely philosophical words on charity and kindness. Ms. Solis is a lovely person. Is this important in a notary public? Once upon a time, I went to a notary public in Alhambra because she was the closest one. She was an absolute troll and very rude. I felt terrible and I hated giving her my money. Usually when one needs something notarized, it concerns sensitive, personal, or rather weighty issues.
