I appreciate owning a mistake & the willingness to understand the customer point. Jose was my initial consultant and I was pleased on my visit 2 yrs ago. The entire process dealing with Monchelle & Naomi was always superb and that's why I've decided to stay where it's convenient for me. I'm hopeful my next encounter will be much better. I have been going to this Lens Crafters atleast once a year for about 8 years. They consistently provide world class customer service. I moved about an hour away and I still drive back to Maryland to get my glasses from this location because the staff and the management are fantastic. This location has an excellent vibe. The management and staff seem to enjoy their work and it shows in the customer service they provide. I was educated about my vision exam, insurance benefits, and informed about my options every step of the way. The store is very well organized, clean, and has a large variety of premium designer frames. I like high end designers and I checked the locations near my home in VA - Tysons Corner, Springfield, and Pentagon City, but I found that the customer service and the selection of women's designer frames to be better in the Bowie, MD location. Thank you to the store manager Josue, Jacqueline in the optometrist office, and all the staff for all that they do. The people here are very warm and I refer all my family and friends here. In my experience with this store there's only two sales people that will take care of your order flawlessly. The rest are the worst, one attempted to over charge me, another time the adjustment on a new pair of glasses was so bad I just gave up and came back so someone else could fix them. And now they broke a frame that I wanted lenses for and although they replaced them the aggravating point was I had to call them for status after two weeks. Also when I picked them up one of the sales people tried to tell me they glasses where tented when they are clearly not but attempted to explain me away with saying it's because it's because of that brand. Now I now they order and cut the lenses as well as polo don't cut the script they only make frames. I will not return after this. read more

My annual checkup! Dr Apple and her team of folks who were on duty on Sunday 9/5/2021 were awesome from the time I walked in the door until the time that I walked out. I didn't get the name of the young man who was in the front of the store assisting folks BUT he was awesome too. He helped me understand what "progressive" meant for my Rx. Jade, the young woman who checked me in for my appointment, was on point with her communication and customer service skills - from verifying my insurance to performing the initial eye test. This was probably the best eye exam that I have ever had. It's weird, I didn't know that Dr Apple was the doctor who worked there. She had complimented my frames as she walked by. I just thought she was in the store looking around. LOL This just goes to show how laid back and comfortable this was for me. I was in and out with no time wasted. I had an appointment with them in July and they sent me a number of reminder TEXTS (a least 2) with the option of rescheduling if I could NOT make the appt or to send the text "STOP" if I didn't want them to send me any further texts. Since I was keeping the appt- I didn't respond to the text. When I got to the appointment they said "Oh didn't you get our message? We don't take your insurance and your exam will have to be paid out of pocket." I indicated I did not get that message and showed her the last text I received which was a reminder of my appointment. She responded "oh they might've sent it via phone."Worth mentioning is that I filled out all the forms earlier online and there was no indication that CareFirst was no longer accepted. Then wife and 4 year old are in store for an hour and NO ONE even acknowledges their existence!!! 2 visible associates were with customers but my wife attempt multiple times to make eye contact or get their attention. Nope zero effort to earn our business. I was livid so I called the supposed manager, which if he is I now understand why they are terrible! He said they must have been having technical difficulties and to go ahead and give them bad reviews and call corporate. Not a single attempt to bring us or our business back. Great experience from the beginning to the end. The young lady that answered the phone to schedule our appointment was extremely friendly. The day of our appointment the reception, doctor and young lady that placed the order for our (my daughter and I) were on point. We even received our glasses the same day. I have been getting my contacts here for a few years now. This review is for the doctors office and contact lenses.. This place is great honestly. I had numerous issues with the location in Annapolis Mall, and after enough issues I opted to take my business to Bowie. Since I switched I haven't had any issues at all. My wait time for appointments is reasonable, the staff is friendly and helpful, the DR I see is also friendly and efficient. They make ordering contacts super easy! Also the service there in general is pretty fantastic. They have had good communication on phone and in person as far as wait times, etc. They went out of their way to help me with something they otherwise did not have to do, and I'm very grateful for their impeccable service. 10/10 honestly read more

The service at this location has changed tremendously and not for the BEST. For starters they misquote pricing w/insurance and the front-line staff are not helpful/friendly at all. I have had to call multiple times and always told I would receive a call back, to no prevail no one ever called and I in turn had to call again. After hopping around to find a store that carried my eye care insurance, my mom and I happened to land upon LensCrafters in Bowie. I had never been there before and was just simply excited to get my new pair of glasses. Upon arrival, we were greeted by several of the employees including Jenelle, the saleswoman who helped us during our visit. Rather than turning us loose and letting us figure out which glasses looked and fit us best, she made it a point to check in with us periodically and even picked out several frames for us to try on. Thanks to her suggestions, my mom and I both found glasses we both love!! I even went out of my comfort zone and got a pair that weren't black. I highly recommend visiting LensCrafters for your eyeglass needs, and, if you're lucky enough, you'll get Jenelle's help and walk home with a pair you love. read more

I had an eye exam recently at the Bowie Towne Centre Lenscrafters and received a text today that my glasses were available. I went in to pick up my glasses and the prescription was not correct and when I attempted to read, it was blurry. A young lady (Marcha) who was extremely courteous and professional, spoke with the technician, Thomas and he came out to speak with me and examine the glasses. He basically wasn't listening to his coworker and was extremely rude and defensive with both of us. He was focusing on the fact that I could see objects in the distance although we told him several times that my glasses were for reading. He put in a prescription which was stronger than I needed and continued to be rude with his coworker and myself, as well. I asked for a full refund and will never visit Lenscrafters, again. I have to add that Marcha was extremely poised although her coworker used an unprofessional tone when speaking with her. read more

Every year the same, cant find my insurance info (but dont need to see my card!) so want me to pay and put in a claim with my insurance. Previous years they were able to figure it out but had to work for it a little. Dont believe they even attempted this time. Appointment was for 12.20, at 12.35 doctor hadn't even arrived yet. Now had I been 15 minutes late I would have been charged a missed appointment fee. I left and will never return, my time is as valuable, maybe even more so, than his. read more

i am only giving this place 2 stars b/c the actual lenscrafters store & personnel are fine. nice, and helpful even. BUT. and oh this is a BIG BUT - the connected dr.'s office is HORRIBLE. dr. barry is awful, awful, AWFUL. DO NOT GIVE HIM YOUR BUSINESS NOR TRUST THE HEALTH OF YOUR EYES TO HIM!!! YOU WILL BE SORRY!!! i used to take the kid to lenscrafters for his annual eye exams, lenses, frames, and so on when the connected optometry practice was owned/operated by a different doctor, and it was fine. the doc was great and the lenscrafters folks were fine, so it worked. then dr. barry bought the practice and it all went downhill. the same year barry bought the practice, the kid wanted to try contacts, so i took him in for an exam and trial pair. the front office staff was slow and incompetent at best. one of the girls was very pregnant and even made a remark about not caring that much [about the job] b/c she only had one more week before she went out on maternity leave and wasn't coming back. dr. barry was rushed, rude (though he tried to mask it w/ the most disingenuous bedside manner i've ever seen), made my kid very uncomfortable, and also tried to rip us off* at our follow-up! i was FURIOUS. don't mess with my money* and NWIH do you mess with my kid. i requested a copy of the kid's records and told them i was leaving the practice. this fool had the nerve to ask me why and tell me how oh, they're still adjusting and he knows his front office girls aren't so good but he had to hire people on the fly and was working on it. yeah, throw your staff under the bus...that's going to make me stay with you, prick. *huge eyeroll* i told quack barry that it wasn't so much his staff as it was HIM and to give me the damn file and our Rx, pronto. he obliged, and made a pathetic attempt at a half-assed apology. we haven't been back since, and won't be. they continue to call and try to regain our business. the conversation is the same every call: quack barry's office: we're calling to remind you that [manchild's name] is due for an exam. me: we left the practice and [manchild] is being seen elsewhere now. please stop calling me/delete us from your records. quack barry's office: oh, i'm so sorry. is there anything we might be able to do to regain your business? me: does dr. barry still work there/run the practice? quack barry's office: yes. me: NO. good-bye. read more

I had an appointment for eye exam 5pm. Bowie town center has terrible parking and if you wait for a spot to park the Bowie Police run you off with their siren WAILING. So found a parking place finally and got into the store at 5:10 pm all associates were busy and/or ignoring you. 2 min later one finally "notices me" and I let them know I'm here for an eye exam. They say "oh you need to go over there to another part of the store". I went over to the receptionist and let her know I'm there for an exam. This is now 5:16 pm she said "Oh I don't think the doctor will see you your too late, but I'll check". 5 min later she says "no he won't see me, would I like to make an appointment for another day". Obviously they don't need my business and don't really care about their customers, I'm sure I can find a company that would appreciate my business. read more

My experience with Dr. Barry was not very good. His bedside manner is non existent, and It is somehow very clear that he is more concerned with up selling you products, than providing you with decent eye care. I was fitted for contacts 3 separate times, on 3 separate visits. Each time I informed the Doctor I was not satisfied. Each time he rushed me out and hardly listened to my concerns(reminds me of a used car salesman). I eventually went back to attempt to get my prescription and demand that I receive the lenses I wanted instead of the lenses Dr. Barry was forcing on me (for his own financial gain I suppose). He told me that I would be charged a refitting fee. NO WAY , pay again for services I've already paid for. Sunny D said it best, Don't trust this guy, go to any other eye doctors office you can find. I drive 30 minutes in the rain 8 months pregnant. My appointment was 2:45pm. I walk in at 2:55pm and make eye contact with the receptionist then realize I forgot my mask and waddle back to my car to get it. I return five minutes later 3pm and are told I will need to reschedule because I'm past the 10 minute courtesy. I just needed to get my mask. Needless to say I will take my business elsewhere. I made an appointment for myself and 2 children. My children failed their eye exams at school and I was overdue for my annual eye exam. I chose this location because it's close to my house and Lens Crafters is covered under my medical benefits of vision coverage. Upon calling for an initial appointment, the staff was professional and helpful answering all my questions. Upon going to the actual appointment, the doctor on duty that day was horrible! He never introduced himself to me as he took my child away. I had to stop and kindly remind him that an introduction is necessary as my children have been taught not to ever leave with a stranger (doctor or not) until myself or my husband give them the ok. This doctors "chair side" manner was lack luster and I'm saying this nicely and I wrote corporate and let them know as well. Their response to my complaint was a simple "sorry" but seemed cut and paste from a standard response sheet given. I felt nothing would truly be done or said to this doctor they have working in this store. That's my opinion from the correspondence I received back. He didn't explain exactly what was wrong with my daughters vision and my son he just explained didn't need glasses. Even with me trying to explain some of my concerns, he cut me off and abruptly stated he was fine. The rest of th staff in this location was great and could clearly see my displeasure and reassured me by picking up on the social cue this doctor missed. If you ever stop in for an eye exam, please don't let this particular older Doctor get away with his behavior! read more

I purchased a pair of dolce and gabbana glasses and paid extra for lightweight lenses, as well as contacts, at the same time, from lenscrafters in westfield mall in Annapolis, md; I requested insurance at the time of my purchase, I called and was told that it was $25 to.get rid of scratches on my lenses; I called today to see when would be the best time to come in and now they are telling me I don't have it; it will instead cost me $215; I am upset at the incompetence of the store and don't appreciate, at this point, being over charged read more

They couldn't finish the appointment before I had to leave at 6:00 to get my child. Just let me keep wandering around the store without any updates on the timeline. Dr Barry is fine and the eyeglass repair personnnel are too but I had a horrible experience with Lenscrafters when purchasing a new pair of glasses. The sales girl wouldn't apply all my discounts and tried to talk her way out of it. Of course, she didn't want to lose her commission. After speaking to mgmt she applied the correct discounts but took 30mins to complete the transaction. I asked for a complete refund and left. Very unprofessional. read more

Great experience at the Bowie, MD location. Although, it didn't start off that way. I have a high prescription which will not work with just any frames. My frames need to be small enough, so my lenses will not stick out too much. So, before I purchased the frames I had a talk with the Sales Rep., and asked repeatedly if my prescription would work for the frames I chose and was assured yes, they would work with my prescription. Well, needless to say, when I returned to pick up my glasses, they were horrible. The lenses did not fit properly in the frames at all. It was sticking out in the front and the sides. Just horrible. I was very disappointed, until I met another Sales Rep. Monchelle Rose who was extremely apologetic and gracious. She took her time with me as I selected frames and was very honest about which frames would work and would not work with my prescription. Well, we chose a frame and I was still a little nervous with my selection, because of what happened last time. When I went back to pick up my glasses, I was beyond thrilled. They were perfect. The lenses fit perfectly in the frames. So, I just want to say a big thank you to Ms. Monchelle Rose, for going above and beyond to help me pick out the best frames for my prescription. read more
