The office recently moved here from Clearwater Mall...this location is next to a Jersey Mike's and…read morean urgent care type medical center....very small strip mall type thing in north side of GRB just past AutoZone. The gal sitting behind the desk wasn't much of a friendly sort but that was the end of the cold fish vibe. Nicole the optometric tech nothing to write home about either. They both seem to take after the office manager...a guy named Wes. He seems the sort who tries to sound smarter than what he really is, but this isn't about character assassination. It's more about feeling comfortable while getting one's eyes examined, etc. That's where the present optometrist comes into play...The fellow is a doc by the name of Jim Phillips, who was/is a down home sorta fellow who speaks simply and tells U like it is without lotsa multisyllabic gobbledygook. The practice also has two other optometrists listed. No more Dr H. BTW...he has moved on in life apparently. The optician who helped us both select new frames is a gal named Jamie. She too, much like Dr Phillips, is a warm and friendly sort who seems to know her stuff quite well. The only one in the place I remember from their old location is Terry, the other optician who's actually been there for what seems like eons. Much like any other eyeglass operation, there's a decent selection of frames, contacts and the like. Turnaround still about three weeks but at least our insurance takes care of nearly all of it...I never recall those "one hour" joints being so well covered insurance wise. Most of the appointment setting and all are done online, although they still take phone calls and do stuff the old fashioned way also. As our optical insurance is totally electronic too, the electronic appointment and check-in system worked well and I didn't even have to speak to anyone, which is good. Given the front desk people I encountered upon first arriving: even better. If I were basing my review based on them alone, this place wouldn't even get THREE stars let alone four. Meantime, know that their new office can be a lil difficult to locate as it comes up really quickly and is a bit hidden by the trees and just being set back from the street. There IS a sign out front for it and the other two tenants so just be on the lookout and take your time. Just a little reminder once again that the plaza is directly adjacent to and just beyond AutoZone.

When I arrived my medical insurance was looked up by Phil, who is Dr Loulourgas husband. I did not know what my insurance was, but he was able to quickly find it went over all my benefits. I waited less than 10 minutes to see Dr Loulourgas. She was extremely through. She carefully explained to me my vision needs, and highlighted some issues I was having. During the optical process, Phil discussed the benefits of many lenses and lens options. At Eye See Clear Vision, I found the latest in Fashion Frames, I carefully explained the pros and cons of each frame I selected as it pertained to my vision needs and the fact that size matters with my Rx. They were able to cut my lenses while I waited! Never in the 20 years that I have been seeing eye doctors has anyone gone to this length or has any Eye Doctor been so through with my vision needs. Both Dr Loulourgas and Phil spent a lot of time with me at Eye See Clear Vision and, in the end, I did spend a lot of money, I want the best for my eyes. I stopped in after getting sushi next door and was impressed with the variety of women's frames. I made an appointment to see Dr. Maria Loulourgas. When I asked for an itemized list of things that would be included in my new glasses, Clay told me that man at the front desk (the Dr.'s husband and business manager) would give it to me. When I asked "that man" for it, (no one ever told me his name) he said our system doesn't do that." I said, "Clay told me you would give it to me." The man stood up from behind the counter and said angrily, "You're NOT listening to me!" I was shocked! um, no dude, YOU'RE NOT LISTENING TO ME! I didn't want just the receipt with lots of codes he threw at me. I wanted a receipt that shows if I have polycarb, blue light filter, anti- reflection, transitions, etc. I have always been given this at many other places in the past. Ten days later, when I went to pick up my new glasses, "that man" yelled at me again. This time he stood right next to me while I was sitting down talking with Clay, pointed his hand toward the door and yelled for me to leave. "YOU CAN LEAVE. Goodbye!!" I told him he can give me my money back and he shouted that the glasses are nonreturnable. Apparently this is the norm for him. That's just what he does. I have ready MANY past negative reviews (not here on Yelp) from customers stating he yelled at them or spoke rudely to them and that they will not return. Most of the replies to those reviews state that the yelling was the result of something the customer did. That is ridiculous. No one should be treated like that when visiting a professional office. Today, a wonderful rep. from vsp.com, my vision insurance, listened to my horrible experience and has filed a grievance against this office. Now I can be the one to say, "Goodbye!" I am so relieved I never have to go back there. Would you?! UPDATE May 29: I had to go back :-( Apparently, according to a rep from VSP, there was an over charge of $160. That was discussed over the phone with "that man" a month ago and he told the rep from VSP that he would put the "check in the mail". I never got it so I called VSP again. The VSP rep itemized everything I should have been billed and emailed me a copy to bring to "that man" for reimbursment. I bought it to him and he refused it with a wave of hand and told me to leave. (AGAIN!) He said he didn't send the check for the money owed because he told VSP to tell me to come in and he would give me a full refund. WHAT?! This is a LIE!! A rep from VSP suggested I never go back to this office. He also lied several times during our conversation. At one point he lied and said he has me on video with three witnesses that heard me say something I absolutely NEVER said. I told him to show me the video and he refused. I left after he stood up and walked away from me. PLEASE GOD don't ever make me see that man again. What an absolutley horrible nightmare of an experience getting new glasses.

I was able to see OD Christina Spellich and she was very nice and supportive. The entire eye exam and all my millions of questions took about 30 min total. After the exam they take you into the main area and walk you through picking out glasses and next steps.
