I always have great experiences at this location. Today's experience solidifies my opinion. Allison helped my daughter out. She was very nice and professional. She ran through all the available discounts for the purchase. I did not even ask and she just automatically did it. We stop by every time we need our glasses adjusted. Sometimes there could be a wait, but every staff member was very efficient and professional. The eye dr is separate from the Lens Crafters store, but we always had no problem making appointments and seen by the dr. Highly recommend this location and the staff. read more

I had a wonderful experience at LensCrafters today. I visited the store and needed to replace my prescription sunglasses. Throughout the whole process, Kerri Garcia helped me. she was patient and kind and answered all my questions professionally and with expertise. I had discomfort with my pair of glasses and Kerri heard me and looked for ways to make all my concerns addressed. It felt right. We were here for my eye exam which was covered under insurance. I have pre-booked the appointment, so the waiting time was hardly 15-20 minutes. Exam: Dr Mohit Kapoor and his assistant: first her assistant conducted a couple of tests through various machines and took some photos. she was helpful and knowledgeable; it was 5 min test. After that, we waited around 20 minutes and then Dr. Mohit called us and checked my eyes (those "read the letters" things) In the test conducted before, he showed the photo and gave the information on my eye healthiness (blood circulation, space gap, and all... ). Store: The store has a good collection of frames (Regulars, stylish, luxury), also they have associates who can assist you with your glasses/lens. Though I did not order a glass (yet) but assistants provided the necessary information if I go for a glass (lens), they let me know about the single/bifocal lens/ types of glass, prices, and all. Yup, there could be a waiting period, but it is the same everywhere. read more

My fiancee & I purchased glasses here 2 yrs ago I just arrived in an Uber to see how fast I could get new glasses. I arrived at 10:30 the door was locked & it said it opened at 10:00 am. The women that helped me 2 yrs ago was at the counter & unlocked the door late!! I was immediately told I didn't buy my frames there. I said "Oh, I thought I did" then I was told it would be 7 days to get new glasses because of my prescription. Then she said "We did use to sell your frames but we stopped". I walked out! Do better! Don't advertise same or next day glasses if as soon as a person walks in you have every excuse in the book not to help them! I wonder if customer service is only good when you pull up in your new car not an Uber? read more

Busy store that's understaffed so prepare to wait. Just four employees working on a Sunday afternoon. Two saleswomen could work on their iPads to set up orders. Exactly one tech at the fitting bar could adjust specs. All seemed to be trying hard to help people, but choosing & fitting a pair of glasses can really take a lot of time. I came here to use my employer vision insurance. I waited about 10 min outside, then almost an hour for a salesperson. Kudos for giving me a detailed quote in writing so I can think about it. Store capacity limited due to COVID. And policies for inventory are strange, they will NOT order a frame in a different color or size, you can only have what's in stock. My daughter and I have been going here for the last 4 years and never had an issue. Last week we were at our yearly eye appointment. Before we went in I asked about the amount I was going to be billed and was told about the copay and contact fitting fee, however when I went to pay there was an additional $78 fee ($39 each) for retinal pictures. I stated that I was not told about this fee, nor was I given the option to forgo the picture. The picture was done without our consent and we were expected to pay for something not covered by insurance. Be careful if you go because they are charging you for uncovered services and not being upfront. read more

Colossal waste of time. Nice employees but absolutely zero process. They told me to come back the following day to pick up my overpriced glasses, then when I arrived they weren't ready. The woman was very nice who helped but pushed the top tier of lenses for me when I can't afford that. When asked to reuse old frames and put new prescription lenses in there she chose to not let me and made me buy frames from them. I felt very pushed. Recent visit in summer 2018 has revealed it is no longer worthy of our business. The frame selection was poor. Further, we were told we'd have to wait a week to get a transitions-lens script filled. My son can't be without glasses for that long, so we declined. To this, an infantile saleswoman became upset and had the audacity to criticize us for our attitude! I have been going to this location for several years now. I get my eye exam, contact lenses, and glasses here. The staff are friendly and efficient. You can schedule appointments online for exams, then get email and text reminders, and it will set the appointment on your email calendar. Very convenient! They will match 1800 contacts pricing of contacts and often have sales on glasses/frames. I recently went in to have my glasses adjusted/cleaned (which they do for free). There was a small imperfection in the lens, which I didn't really notice/didn't bother me. The lady who was helping me checked when I had bought the glasses, and they were still under warranty., I now have an entire new pair of glasses that I only paid $25 for! Very happy with the thoroughness of employees to watch out for their customers. read more

I went here to get an adjustment on my 2 frames that I told them came from an online retailer. I even asked if they charged for adjustments on frames not purchased in their store or their chain saying I was fine with paying. They said that was fine and it was no charge. I told the guy that they were high index and low heat had to be used he said that was fine. He then proceeded to say "this is why you shouldn't order glasses online". I laughed it off because what else was I supposed to do. First frame was adjusted fine, a finger print or two on the lenses no big deal as I could wipe off with a cloth. The second pair was given back to me and the lenses on both sides were warped. I told him and he just looked at me and walked away... now I know I ordered from another retailer and it isn't their responsibility to fix but how about an I'm sorry any acknowledgement that you literally screwed up a pair of glasses. I called original retailer and they apologized for LensCrafters screw up and while I was sitting in the store on route 10 fixed it so I am getting fixed lenses put into the frame for me. No one working there acknowledged the error or even said sorry. I usually bought my glasses from this location however after the way they treated me as a customer I will no longer purchase in store and purchase from the online retailer from now on. I went to Lenscrafters for an eye exam and new glasses, after having waited too long to do so. First the good part: I was impressed with the doctor. She was personable and knowledgeable -- the exam was very thorough and in the end, I got the proper prescription. I recommended the doctor to other people and they were very satisfied as well. There was a wide range in choices for glasses; however, their designer section, while pretty good, needs a little bit of work. I was able to get a nice pair of Donna Karan and another pair that was not designer. The only complaint I have is when I came in to make an appointment with the doctor, the person who was there seemed young, inexperienced, and a little bit curt. The other thing is the person on the floor was very good with helping me pick out eyeglass styles, but seemed slightly inexperienced as far as different lenses and such were concerned. I wasn't too worried though as there were other, more experienced workers there to answer my questions. The prices are par for the course as far as eyeglasses are concerned...I came in on a good deal but still left spending $800 for two pairs -- however, they were two pairs with all the bells and whistles...progressive lenses, transitions, anti-reflective coating, etc. read more

Manger in Fall 2012 was exceptionally rude, abrupt, and downright nasty. Wanted nothing to do with me due to the vision insurance I had, and refused to answer questions. I have been going to this Lens Crafters for MANYYY years. I was initially going to the Costco optical center but chose to move because of the extensive variety. I can give one word to rate this place and it would be EXPENSIVE. I have bought at least 4 pairs of eye glasses from here, including boxes and boxes of contact lenses. I thought it was NORMAL to be paying at least $300.00 for eye glasses....little did I know. After seeing the eye-doctor on site and paying $169.00 for my eye examination fee, I bought one pair of glasses from Lenscrafters this time around. The frame alone was $185.00 and I was not ready to include any add-ons. However, the representative started to wheel me in with the anti-reflective, polarized, etc. etc. By the time I included the anti-reflective, and my single vision lens, the cost was approximately $500.00!!!! I used insurance which brought the total cost down to $257.00 This is still a rip off folks! I returned those glasses the NEXT day itself when I found my same frame online for $113.00 and anti-reflective for $29.00. Way, way, way, way overpriced. Don't be fooled and think you need to pay a hefty amount of glasses. Get your Prescription, go online and get glasses within a week. Came here with an appointment scheduled and wasn't seen for 45 minutes. Completely unprofessional. No apologies, no explanations.

Expect to be here for no less than 90 minutes, no matter what you're having done, even a minor adjustment. A waste of time.

Do not make the mistake of getting lenses from this store. Besides for a very difficult experience in initially making the purchase (initial commitment on time I was given was missed twice, and so much so I had to come back another day), the quality is very poor. After 6 months the lenses developed a patchy fog-like issue on both lenses but far more concentrated on the left lens. I took them back to the store, and a manager happened to be on duty taking care of customers. When I presented them to her, she waved the glasses in the air for about 3 seconds and made the determination it was my fault. When challenged she, clearly annoyed, waved them in the face of a technician working in the back who then "confirmed" this woman's opinion. This person didn't even hold them in his hand. Now, I work for a company that makes optical components for lasers. I had one of our engineers look at the glasses and he immediately confirmed for me that the problem had nothing to do with surface problems that could have been caused by a person and that it is a defect in the production process that just took time to manifest. When I presented that information to the store manager, she was going to give me a "one time deal" of half price, how sweet. When I pressed her on what type of defect warranty Lenscrafter's offers.... "none". So this store offers zero quality assurance which of course puts the "expert inspection" that was done, completely in to perspective. I am very nearsighted and it's hard to make my glasses. For years I went to a place in new Providence and worked with Alexandra. When she left, I tried to get a backup pair made but ended up with glasses I could not use. $650 down the drain, still hurts.... A year later I was getting scared that my 7 year old glasses were falling apart. My Sister loves Lenscrafters. Despite much doubt I tried it. What a pleasant surprise. I've had the glasses almost a week and they are quite good (Knock on wood). Colleen Johnston did a great job finding inexpensive, durable frames that could take my lenses and still close. She even confirmed the lab could make my prescription. It took a while to get them made and during that time there was a question of could the lab do it. Because she did the ground work first she addressed the push back. The cost-$150 less than my previous place. Still far from "cheap" but they work and if they survive my usage, will be much better than my previous $650 waste. Go see Colleen, she's great. I will return and encourage you do try it out-especially if you have thick lenses. read more

The man was nice and reasonably attentive, but the woman had nothing to say to us at all aside from a slightly condescending, entirely presumptuous, and totally unsolicited remark that Lens Crafters no longer prepares glasses on the premises. The store is poorly lit and over-priced. I held my nose and ordered the glasses I need, but it's the last time I will ever shop at Lens Crafters, ever. The "manager" (a total moron) could not call up my new benefits which allowed me one pair of new lenses w/p any co-payment. The problem was that I had a new plan (United Health Care) which allowed one free pair but she was using old information and refused to update it for reasons known only to herself. She kept dancing (literally) around her computer explaining to me that she had to govern her decision by what the computer told her! The problem, as I said, was that she was using old information which no longer applied. The new plan did allow the lenses. She went over and over and over "explaining that her decision had to be made according to what the computer told her. Instead she went to Eye Med (no longer active for me) because "they take care of all insurance needs". Of course this came up negative and she refused to look at the new coverage. Her reason (as she dramatically danced around the computer and pointed to it as the authority for my benefit) "her company insists that she use the information in the data base". My explanation (over and over) that this was old information and no longer applied fell on deaf ears. She "condescendingly" offered the same silly explanation over and over that this was the final authority in a manner as though she was speaking to a silly child (I am a PhD, Sr. Research Professor). Her supercilious attitude was very offensive but I continued to treat her with respect while patiently trying to explain that she must use my new coverage. While nearby I called ,my provider (United Health Care) who confirmed that I had coverage for one pair of free lenses post-surgery. She refused to enter this into my data base or to call United to confirm. Finally I said that I would find another provider, which I did and had the lenses approved (cost-free) in minutes. I've needed to wear glasses most of my life. With the exception of two pairs I've only ever purchased at the tried and true national chain, LensCrafters. I'm writing today to tell you that the location in East Hanover, NJ is sub par. If their selection of women's frames is tiny, that would make their selection of men's frames almost non-existent. What's even more embarrassing, however, is the state of their showroom--stained/ripped carpets, dusty frames, and improper lighting. Communication and customer service skills of sales and managerial staff are severely lacking. I love the LensCrafters chain...but I will go out of my way to avoid this location. Literally worst experience ever in the doctors office side. Purchasing new glasses was fine. But the doctors office is literally a shit show. First, they forgot to give me back my insurance card and refused to mail it to me bc it would cost them too much. Meanwhile I was dropping a pretty penny for contacts and glasses. Then when I went back to pick up my insurance card and asked if they could give met follow up appointment then for my new prescription which didn't seem quite right yet, they said no bc I needed to be wearing them for a full week. Well one week later I have my scheduled appointment, drive back through the horrendous construction war zone that is route 10, only to find that they forgot to put my appointment into the computer and the doctor just stepped out for lunch. So I had the pleasure of deciding to wait there or face the drive yet another time, with my unclear vision. I waited. Met with a different doctor then the first, to discover that yes, I was misdiagnosed, and didn't have the correct prescription. Sooooo guess what that means. I have to go back again and now have the correct lenses put into the glasses that I also made a special trip to pick up within the past week. If you ever want to see the world clearly, then Avoid this place at all costs. It's an unprofessional, unorganized, disaster. read more
