This review is actually for the next door eye doctor office: Dr. Kristine-Hue Van and Associates, Inc. I am actually on much better insurance this year and made it a priority to get my health and eyes checked. I'm also in desperate need of getting new glasses since it has been about a good 2-3 years since my last eye check up. I actually had a free lunch period and decided to see if they were accepting walk-ins. Parking can be a pain, especially during the crazy lunch rush (it's by Chopt Salad). - The website is pretty easy to use as well, but I wasn't sure of my available time for the week so just walked in. It was pretty quick doing the paperwork and I waited for about 30 mins before getting my eyes checked. Afterwards, I went to the exam room with Dr. Robert Galban to complete my glasses/contacts prescription. I really like how this office is handled. Dr. Galban was very informative on how he was examining my eyes and even showed me my results of my eyes. (It's times like this when you're glad that it's a "boring" exam - I only just meant that I was in the clear! haha). Overall, the experience was pretty good for a walk-in appointment. I only have to do a week follow up on my contacts to make sure that it feels like the right prescription. I really like how the office worked and how they want to make sure that the client is happy with their prescriptions. All the staffs were friendly and very helpful with any questions that I had. I ordered prescription sunglasses and after wearing them for about 2 months I realized one of the lenses is not set correctly in the frame. I returned to the store and was assisted by the rudest, most condescending person I have ever met. She basically refused to fix the issue and told me my prescription was thick and that caused the issue. BTW I have another pair of prescription sunglasses and there is no issue. I had much better quality and service at Costco optical for half the price! Do not go to Lens Crafters unless you want poor quality, rude service and high prices! read more

This review is for the exam space they are using next to LensCrafters as part of LensCrafters. It seems it may be a temporary space (I hope it is) because it felt like there was no AC and it smelled like mold and smoke. They also had a sign up that said there was no restroom which sucked because it just so happened I had to pee lol. I shared the exam room with others which was a first and the machine I used for the pretests was not cleaned. It had a red gooey material on the chin part that I had to ask them to clean. It didn't even have a chance to dry so my chin was wet during the exam. Dr. Hue-Van was very nice though and my exam was straight forward. read more

He fixed my glasses, nose pads, readjusted the frame and gave my glasses a good cleaning. He was a wiz and has an eye for detail! They looked brand new! I had a fairly negative experience with one lense from two different sets of yellow tinted lenses crack. I was told by a sales rep that there is a manufacturing defect and those lenses have a greater likelihood of cracking, even the polycarbonate ones (so be careful of getting these). When dealing with this issue, there were some ups and downs. I thought the assistant manager was rude and unhelpful. At first she said I couldn't keep the lenses that didn't crack as a backup pair for now reason. Eventually she changed her mind and let me keep them. Her comments and behavior were extremely unprofessional. Originally, I gave this location a 1-star review. However, after the manager finally calling me (after a few weeks of deal with this issue), I've changed my review. The manager was very nice (as were most of the staff). Overall, the manager and staff are helpful. With that said, avoid the yellow tint lenses and the assistant manager. read more

My eyes have been getting so much worse but their eye glass selection was amazing and so glad I walked about with and amazing pair of eyeglasses from Tiffany & Co. and Prada Sunglasses! My favorite eyecare people, however due to the COVID19 the representative watched me like a policeman and yelled out because one pair of glasses I touched and replaced back. That was the rudest -since she saw what happened she could nicely came over and reminded me of the rule, don't get me wrong the pandemic is serious and I want to be careful just thought that was not the "best way to handle" with a room of people, after that I was afraid to sit or look any further. I was greeted upon arrival, but when I wanted to pick out glasses it was a little over budget. The associate didn't bother asking me about insurance or any offer at all about coupons-- nothing. I called this LensCrafters location with the purpose of putting prescription lenses into Oakley frames. The woman I spoke to on the phone was nice and polite. I was told over the phone that although my prescription strength was strong, there were options for me to choose from. This review was created during the COVID-19 outbreak, and as a physician my time is limited. I purposely clarified and called ahead in order to make my meeting as smooth as possible, and also to limit my exposure in public places. To my surprise when I came there, the sales associate told me that my options were severely limited to only the clear glass lenses and none of the sun frames. The lady who was assisting me was the same associate who I was talking on the phone. In my opinion she was very short about how none of the sun frames were an option, which was completely different from our earlier conversation via phone. She went as far as to reference saying that she told me that only the clear lenses were options. I thought this was quite unprofessional, and frankly this was a poor first experience. I felt both of the workers that helped me did not 100% understand my request nor did they completely explore other options. They simply told me to look at the Raybans. Additionally, the workers seemed flustered and unorganized with customer care, as multiple associates helped me as they bounced from one customer to the next, even though it was not that busy. I felt like they dismissed my concerns. Later that day, I called a LensCrafters located near that area. I used to go to LensCrafters about 10 years ago when I was living in Jersey. Unfortunately after dealing with an extremely rude and unprofessional optometrist, I swore I would never go to LensCrafters again. Fast forward to now, I have pretty bad astigmatism and I never felt like my vision was as sharp as it should be. So after seeing a commercial for the new Clarifye exam, I figured maybe I should give LensCrafters a second chance. To further add to that, after doing research, I came to the conclusion that no one else has an exam even comparable. Clarifye in my opinion is not really a breakthrough technology, but it's definitely a few steps above the other exams. I'm sure there's more to it, but from my knowledge, Clarifye takes a very precise picture of your eye, which helps aid in a more precise prescription and better fitment for contacts. It also has a nontraditional approach to when your viewing the letter chart slides. Instead of flipping between them and being asked "Is this better or worse... Better or worse...", it shows two separate slides, side by side. So it's easier to compare the two. Honestly right after the exam and before I even received my new contacts, I felt like it was my most accurate prescription, ever! After the exam was over, I was given two sets of lenses and a medium sizee box of solution to go home with. Service at LensCrafters is always quick and the staff is very friendly and helpful. My only complaint is the exam area has a private entrance, so I was a little confused on my first visit. And lastly, the parking lot in that Plaza can get abnormally crowded at times. Other than that, LensCrafters has won me back and as long as they stay ahead of the competition by having next level exams like Clarifye, I won't be going anywhere else. read more

I was greeted the second I walked in the door and was helped by multiple staff members despite the fact that there were half a dozen other customers in the store and they were short staffed. I recently needed to get new glasses and this was one of the places on my insurances short list. They had a pretty wide selection of frames to choose from in all price ranges. I like that they can take pics of you in the frames so you can see what they look like on you. Also getting measurements was easy and digital which was really nice. Since they had my lenses in stock it literally took about an hr for my glasses to be ready and I got a text message saying I could pick them up. Really a nice, streamlined process with a good group of employees. I would definitely go back! read more

This was my first time ever needing to get glasses. They did not take me insurance plan but I took a look at their $99.00 section which is a large section and had a variety of great glasses. I tried them on and put the ones I liked to the side. The lady that worked there was so helpful and sweet I can't remember her name I m not good with names but she took the time to stand there with me and let me try each one on and give me her opinion on each which is exactly what I wanted! So with her help I found the perfect classes and got the warranty as well which was a very good deal as well. For my first time the experience couldn't have been any better. I will get my glasses in two weeks! I have used this Lenscrafters a few times, and I've always been very happy with their customer service. About 5 years ago I went there and purchased a beautiful pair of Prada glasses. After insurance it came to about $250, which is pricy, but those were the best glasses I've ever had. They lasted for almost 3 years until someone accidentally stomped on them. I am rough on glasses, so it was pretty amazing they lasted that long. They also replaced the lenses free when they got scratched (I think you have to pay a little extra for the warranty now, but at the time it was free). I have also asked for help adjusting a pair of glasses that I did not purchase there last year, and they did so for free. To get to the recent stuff, yesterday I went to this Lenscrafters and purchased a pair of Rayban sunglasses. I wanted to purchase a pair of regular glasses as well, but none of them were quite what I was looking for. I wish they had a little bit more variety. They had a lot of nearly identical glasses from different brands, and it was all pretty much dark tortoise or black. I was looking for a solid-ish lighter brown and there were only a couple pairs, and they didn't fit my face. I appreciated that the sales woman helping me, Ailiyah, was not pushy at all. She was kind and personable. She tried to help me find something that worked, and even though I was frustrated, she was always smiling. I found a pair that looked amazing except for the color, and she hunted on the internet to see if the manufacturer made a similar pair the color I wanted. Even though I left without regular glasses, I felt like Ailiyah was on my side. I am so far very happy with the fit, look, and feel of the Rayban sunglasses I purchased. They have this cool program now where they take a picture of you wearing the glasses you picked and use it to take measurements of the shape of your face and eyes to create custom lenses. I'm not sure if all that is necessary, but I can see very well out of the sunglasses. The best part about this particular lenscrafters is how they adjust the glasses. I have wildly crooked ears and my nose is off center by a few millimeters. I have left many a glasses adjustment session crying with crooked glasses. It's so important because I have to wear these every second of my waking life in order to see, so if it's not right it's a big deal. I don't know what their training method is at this Lenscrafters, but I swear they are the best adjusters in Richmond. In less than 5 minutes they always have it perfect. So, overall, I wish they had better selection, but what I have purchased from them has been great quality, and the customer service is phenomenal. read more

If I could give negative stars I would!! The doctor I saw (female) was just bad. I felt like she had no clue what she was doing and like she was rushing through the exam. Every time she asked me to read the eye chart it was blurry and she kept saying I have 20/20 vision with the new prescription. Then 2 pairs of contacts she gave me to try got stuck in my eyes. It took me 30 minutes to get them out. I asked if the contacts were the correct shape for my eyes ( I have astigmatism) and she blew that off and said I was in some standard range and sounded pretty annoyed that I asked. Not to mention they charge $200 for an exam. That took all of 10 minutes and I'm pretty sure that when I get those new lenses I won't be able to see any better. Go somewhere else!!! I've been going here for a few years, and really like the eye doctors. However, I've had a different experience than the other reviewers when it comes to customer service at the front desk. One woman has been somewhat rude: she doesn't greet people when they come in or approach the desk, doesn't say please or thank you, and doesn't explain things clearly. Recently when I came in I had a few questions and she gave very short, unhelpful answers, then turned away to do something else, seeming surprised when she discovered I was still standing there because I still needed assistance. The other woman just seems a little out of it, like she isn't comfortable with the computer system or something, but not rude. Like I said, the doctors are great, and they are pretty efficient. Just be aware that the front desk staff aren't *always* friendly. read more

I was greeted as soon as I came in the door and was helped by a very nice sales associate. I picked out my frames and was quoted a price. I was very surprised at how expensive the lenses would be. I had another associate take my digital measurements and this lady was quite rude. She was condescending to other associates in front of customers. She also got an attitude with me when I declined paying extra money for the insurance. She was a large petite short haired black woman. Over the past 5 years, I have purchased 3 pairs of Zegna glasses from the LensCrafters on Willow Lawn (these are pretty expensive frames); and in two of those cases, the frames broke, not from any distress placed on them, but because a spring inside the frame simply gave out. In the most recent case, I owned the frames for only year and a half, and both times, I was told by a store representative that "the glasses couldn't be repaired and there was nothing they could do." The first time this happened, I was willing to give LensCrafters the benefit of the doubt; but I now know that this is the start of a pattern, one where store representatives claim that there are no options in the hope that the customer will simply buy a new pair. The store representative I spoke with today was actually surprised to learn that I didn't replace my frames every two years when I updated my prescription. For the price of these frames, I responded, why would I need to replace them so frequently? And why is it so impossible to repair frames? Are they such marvels of technological innovation that they are beyond fixing? I find this very hard to believe. I suspect that this is part of LensCrafters business model - in the disposable culture that we live in, the customer will choose the easier option of throwing away the "old" pair and buying a new one. Potential customers should know that LensCrafters does not stand behind the quality of its merchandise. You should also know that when you make a purchase at LensCrafters and the item you buy falls apart (and it will), they will offer you false apologies and claim that there was nothing they could do and place the blame on the company that made the items. Just remember that they sold them and they are at fault. And you will be out a ton of money with no recourse. There is no way I would ever buy another pair of glasses from LensCrafters, a point I expressed to the store representative and that I will share with all of my friends and family. I regret giving LensCrafters as much of my money as I have already (but that's exactly the scam, isn't it?). Shame on them for supporting this kind of business model. UPDATE: I just returned from Carytown Optical. The woman I spoke with couldn't have been nicer, and they are going to repair my glasses for a small charge. I guess the lesson is the small locally owned business is always going to take care of its customers better than the big chain, even if we have to pay a bit more for their services. Incredible service. I needed an older receipt from a glasses transaction from December to submit to my insurance company, and she took care of my needs immediately. She wrote a cover letter for me, attached the invoice and submitted it on my behalf. Customer service at its best! The turnaround time for quality, prescription glasses is extremely impressive, as well as the assortment of stylish frames. She advised which frames would best suit my lenses, due to the magnification. I left enthusiastic, happy with the product, client service, and will refer her and this location to everyone I know. I called earlier and was told that LensCrafters do not accept Cigna's vision insurance, but I told the lady that my coworker just left their office two months ago who used the same insurance I have. She stated again that they didn't accept Cigna as of July so I hung up and spoke with my coworker who said that they do accept our vision insurance but the lady had to run it thru their system to verify. I called back and told the lady what my coworker stated then the lady decided to inform me that they DO accept "some" Cigna vision insurance, just not all providers under Cigna. WOW. Why would someone not state that on the first call? Why not take the time to find out which company my vision insurance was through? Anyway, I then asked if I could make an appt and she said no, provide your insurance info first. I didn't have my wallet on me so they certainly just lost my business!! She was really helpful both in the store and over the phone, Had great suggestions and the second pair didn't even require my coming to the store until the prescription was ready. She ordered frames from a nearby store in order that I didn't have to wait so long for replacement, since the frames weren't available at the Willow Lawn location. In and out in a flash. read more

LensCrafters has great stylish glasses a decent prices. This experience was not the greatest, but the manager did everything in her power to help me, hence the four star rating. Please note that the 1 hour service does have a cut off time, so if you get there too late, your glass won't be ready until the next day. I had a lot of money left on my flex spending, so I purchased 4 pair of glasses including sunglasses. However, it took forever. Not all of the employees could do everything, so I started with one employee, then had to wait for someone else to complete my order, but theta person was tied up with someone else. Because it took so long, I had to wait next day to get the glasses. When I arrived, the order was messed up. So I had to return again. When I returned, they couldn't find my glasses. After about 20 minutes of ransacking the place, the manger found my glasses and refunded me $50 for my inconvenience. There is room for improvement, but they get an A for effort. read more

WORST customer service experience ever. Bought glasses in November. Tried to get used to new prescription. Could not. Went back to eye DR next door yesterday and was given a new prescription. Went in today to have my glasses updated. Each time I opened my mouth I was met with a negative statement. I asked what could be done. The rep told me that if it was within 30 days they would honor the change. I told her I just had it corrected yesterday by their affiliate and wondered if LensCrafters would honor the prescription and give a remake or adjust the price for me on the new set. She got condescending with me and asked if it was within 30 days. I told I clearly understand that it is past 30 days but if they could offer a partial discount that I would be happy. The office next door was more than happy to recheck my prescription and make an adjustment, at no charge! I also told her I questioned if the right lens was made correctly as I had double vision in that eye when wearing them. She blurted out that I had not tried to adjust to them long enough. I took my items and left. I have bought tons of high end Persol frames from them, sunglasses, and have taken my family in as well. NEVER again. I felt insulted and disrespected. She never even checked the glasses to make sure they were correct initially. Go to Costco or a local optician. Total lack of customer service here. read more

I was fitted for contact lenses at Lenscrafters in Baltimore Maryland and Lenscrafters/the optometrist in Richmond Virginia would not allow me to purchase a single pair or even a box of contact lenses as I forgot my lenses at home and was unable to see for the entire weekend.
