She takes the time to discuss your overall health and how your habits impact your eyes. During my visit, she emphasized the importance of staying hydrated and suggested allergy eye drops, which have significantly improved my eye comfort--I no longer experience the tiredness or dryness I used to. It's always very easy to schedule appointments and you can literally take a visit on a lunch break, as she is efficient and honors appointment times. So much respect for doctors and practices that try their best to stay on time and respect your time as well. All of the staff are friendly, they do a great job explaining what to expect, and it's no frills billing that you pay during your appointment time. Aside from my routine eye exams, Dr. Fripps has excellent chair side manner and holds space for you to address any questions or concerns you may have with your eyes. Then not only does she make recommendations, but also tries to give 2-3 recommendations in varying price points and locations (online vs retail) for whatever budget you may be hoping to stay within. This is one of those places you almost wish you visit more than once a year or so, but it's a welcoming practice and she remembers little details about you even though visits are infrequent. Highly recommend!

Unfortunately, they didn't have contacts in my prescription in the store, so they ordered some trials for me. The doctor decided to order me two trial pairs of contacts: one that was cheaper but was only close to my actual prescription, and one that is much more expensive but would be my actual prescription. Strangely, at the time of my appointment, they gave me a pair of contacts, each from different brands, neither of which was my correct prescription. Both of my trial pairs arrived around the same time, so I picked them up together. It turned out that one of the contacts ordered for me (the left contact from the more expensive brand) was entirely the wrong prescription and didn't work for me at all. I ended up having to wear the left contact from the cheaper brand and the right contact from the more expensive brand. The next week, they called me to let me know that another pur of trial contacts had arrived, which surprised me. I went in and it was a new pair of the expensive brand, both different prescriptions (power AND astigmatism correction) than the other pair from that brand. None of the trials worked particularly well, so I called them again to make another appt. Again, that process was super quick and easy and everyone I talked to throughout the process was super helpful. I haven't had that follow-up appointment yet, so I may update this later. But for now, I'm mostly happily with my experience here and would recommend them to other people. Edit: I had my follow-up appointment for my contacts. The doctor cleared up the mistake with my trial contacts and ordered a couple more to try to find something that works well for me (because my astigmatism is super high and my eyes are picky, not because she did anything wrong the first time). I was not charged for the follow-up contact lens appointment. Overall still very happy with this place.

In open spaces they had lots of kids activity and relaxing spots. Whole area was kept clean and constantly monitored, excellent service all around. As we walked around for a bit, I found many of my favorite stores like Lululemon, Dick's, Lego, H&M and an Apple Store too. It was a good mix of popular and expensive brands. They had Macy's and Dillard's departmental stores. Several of the restaurants included CFK, Chick fil a, Chipotle, The Cheesecake Factory, Texas De Brazil, Magliano's and lots more. Initially we went just to just visit Cold Stone, but we ended up spending couple of hours at this shopping center. I also found the rare Capital One cafe. We spent time shopping in Dick's as well. Overall I was really impressed by the quality and offering of this shopping center but since it's outdoor, feels very sweaty walking on hot days..

I am actually on much better insurance this year and made it a priority to get my health and eyes checked. I'm also in desperate need of getting new glasses since it has been about a good 2-3 years since my last eye check up. I actually had a free lunch period and decided to see if they were accepting walk-ins. Parking can be a pain, especially during the crazy lunch rush (it's by Chopt Salad). - The website is pretty easy to use as well, but I wasn't sure of my available time for the week so just walked in. It was pretty quick doing the paperwork and I waited for about 30 mins before getting my eyes checked. Afterwards, I went to the exam room with Dr. Robert Galban to complete my glasses/contacts prescription. I really like how this office is handled. Dr. Galban was very informative on how he was examining my eyes and even showed me my results of my eyes. (It's times like this when you're glad that it's a "boring" exam - I only just meant that I was in the clear! haha). Overall, the experience was pretty good for a walk-in appointment. I only have to do a week follow up on my contacts to make sure that it feels like the right prescription. I really like how the office worked and how they want to make sure that the client is happy with their prescriptions. All the staffs were friendly and very helpful with any questions that I had. I will be definitely staying with them! Thanks for helping me see clear!

I chose a pair of Costas. They were very expensive, but I was excited to invest in a nice pair of sunglasses. After I was fitted for them, I went back several weeks later to pick them up. I had ordered progressive lenses so that I could read and see far away. The transition of closer to far away was not good, and I could not see to read at all with them. The tech was very nice and said that she would order a new pair and have the lenses adjusted. When I went back the second time, then I could see to read, but could not see far away. The tech became very frustrated and walked away when I told her that I still could not see. She sent a different tech over to help me who said they would refund me for my glasses. I told her that I didn't want to be refunded, I just wanted to be able to see clearly out of the glasses that I was paying so much money for. She escorted me to the front, and I asked her why she was not offering me other alternatives for glasses that might work better with progressive lenses. She was dismissive and told me that she could not help me. If there are certain styles of glasses that do not work with progressive lenses, I should've been told that up front. I also expected a much higher level of customer service to try and find a pair that would work for me. I felt blamed, dismissed, and disrespected. I will not be going back. I called a few days later to speak to the office manager to share my experience and no one returned my call.

I waited two days and no call. The following week I waited until Tuesday of the following week, still no call back. So I called and asked about rescheduling and was asked to give my name and number which I gave to the operator. Waited until the following Monday, still no call back. So on Monday, June 8,2026 I called again, told the operator what happened and I still needed to make an appointment. Her was response was not, sorry for the delay or your inconvenience, but instead she went immediately to name, number and the earliest date I have for you is August 2026, 3 months after my original date. This is terrible customer service. Through no fault of my own apparently I have to wait 3 months because of a computer problem on their end. If I waited until under 24 hours before my appointment they would have tried to charge me. Not even so much as an if they get an opening they will call. Nothing and a very dry attitude about offering any assistance for their poor customer service. During this interim between now and August I need to find another eye doctor's office. I pay good money for services but apparently that doesn't matter to Virginia Eye Institute no matter how big or beautiful their buildings are, it should be more important to provide good customer service and patient services.
