I am so impressed. I was on a tight turn-around with needing information to finish some legal paperwork. My CPA had a family emergency and had to cancel my scheduled appointment. I contacted Leonard & Associates CPA's (because of what I'd read on Yelp). They made time for me. Again - on a tight time schedule. Very disappointing experience with Michael Leonard. My husband and I are new to the area and had an issue with our 2018 taxes, on top of that issue, as new home owners we wanted to be sure we did things correctly. Our first appointment was on Feb 11 and it went well. Michael called the IRS and asked for an abatement. When they only offered $200 credit he declined and asked them to give us a 30 day extension so he can file a form requesting more of the penalties be removed. This is when it went down hill. My husband and I received a letter from the IRS explaining our payment would be due in full March 13. We started calling the firm weekly to check in on the status. Finally getting through to Michael he seemed to have completely forgotten the 2018 issue, and had only completed the 2021 personal taxes. Obviously anyone can prepare their personal taxes on their own, we went to a CPA because we needed help with our issue. He let me know he'd call me back to get some time in the office within the "next day or so" (his words). March 13th came and went and we didn't hear from Michael. I called the IRS myself and at this point was not able to accept the previously offered $200 credit and actually now owed more because of another penalty assessed. My husband and I then just popped into his office to pick up our "completed" 2021 taxes and found two forms in our paperwork 1. stating what we owe for 2021 would be auto deducted from our bank account April 18th and 2. a form with instruction to mail a check to the IRS for 2021. I asked the secretary which one is it? Will the IRS auto withdraw the money or do we write a check... she had no answer for us. A mess! I asked her if she didn't know who did and she really had nothing to offer other than she couldn't ask Michael because he was in a meeting. Then she billed us $400. Thank you for... nothing? I'm so confused why we went to a "professional" CPA firm instead of HR Block. At the bare minimum HR block sat down with us while they prepared our taxes. Overall it was very upsetting, very disappointing, and cost us more money walking out then when we walked in. Thanks bud! Also, now WE have to sit on the phone and try to figure out whether we need to write a check or have money in our account by April 18th. A total pain in the ass and waste of time. If you don't have any issues and need straight forward taxes and that's absolutely it..... then maybe this might be the place for you. read more

Michael Leonard began working on my taxes in 2015. He has done a remarkable job, asking questions, explaining things, and has been much more efficient that any box tax preparer I've used in the past. The firm's pricing has been comparable to previous tax preparers I have previously seen. Now that I use an actual accounting firm, when I have question, I have an actual person to contact year-round!
