We had our tiny shrubs-and-grass front yard turned into a hardscaped stone patio with a sitting wall since our neighborhood is very front-porch friendly :) We'd tried to hire Leonard Landscaping last year for other projects but they were too busy, so this year when Brendan said they had room for us I jumped on it. He was very accommodating about the schedule, we picked out some colors, and everything went smoothly. The patio looks fantastic - there are a couple small nitpicks, like visible glue in between the sitting wall blocks in a couple spots, but overall it's lovely. They graded it very carefully since drainage is super important here - we haven't had a big rainstorm yet, but after we get one, I'll update this review if there are any issues. The team was great - our neighbors were impressed with how respectful they were of the sidewalk and the flanking properties (we're a middle townhouse, and the patio goes right up to the property line), how they cleaned up after themselves, and how quickly the work was completed. In fact, our neighbors are already getting a quote from Brendan to do their own patio :) If we have any other projects in the future, I know who I'm calling! read more

Leonard Landscaping did a great job in helping me turn my overgrown, unmanageable backyard into a grassy field perfect for my little ones to kick around a ball, and my dogs to play. They ripped out tons of overgrown and dead plants from around the border of the yard and filled in a water feature that was installed at the back -- something that I actually did enjoy but just wasn't the right fit at this time for our family with two toddlers at home. Then they laid down sod for the areas where there was no grass, and reseeded the middle of the lawn to help with grass growth there, too. They worked very quickly and professionally, and accomplished the entire job in one day. Brandon Leonard has been great about keeping in touch with reminding me to water the yard and says that in a few weeks the sod and old grass should be a little more congruously blended. I'm very satisfied with Brandon's friendliness, flexibility, responsiveness to messaging, the timeline of getting the work done, and the cost. My husband and I bought a home last fall, and we were both stumped over what to do with the front yard. It wasn't in terrible shape, but it definitely wasn't ideal either. By springtime, there were weeds and overgrown and dead plants. A makeover was desperately needed. In search of a gardener/landscaper, I turned to both Nextdoor and Yelp. There were plenty of recommendations on both sites but after reading Gretchen's review, I decided to reach out to Leonard Landscaping. I received a response from Brendan via email almost instantly, and he came out the next day to take a look. He surveyed the yard, listened to my needs and thoughts, and immediately came up with suggestions on how to clean up and beautify the area. He was clearly very knowledgeable and had a lot of experience, and he made swift and logical recommendations based on the area and our preferences. Roughly an hour after he left, he sent me an email with a proposal and quote that laid out everything we had talked about in detail. His proposal was easy to comprehend, and he laid out what his crew would do in a few steps. I was very pleased with the proposal and confirmed promptly. A week later, Brendan and his crew arrived bright and early on a Monday. The crew weeded, cleaned up, and pruned the shrubs along our stairs. They filled in a concrete hole with gravel. They removed the unwanted and dead plants in front of the house, applied new mulch, and planted green velvet boxwoods and salvia may night perennials. Finally, they built a dry stack border edge to keep in mulch runoff and reseeded a portion of our lawn. Plus, they also power washed our stairs. The crew started around 7am and finished everything shortly after noon. Brendan routinely drove back to assess the progress. He also checked in with me at the beginning with the suggestion to reseed part of the lawn before they formally got to work. We were astounded by how quickly and meticulously everything was done. When we came out to see the end result, the transformation was like one of those ugly duckling transformations you see in TV shows or movies. New mulch, new plants, trimmed plants, new border edge, no weeds, new grass. I'm no longer embarrassed by our front yard anymore. Anytime I leave the house or come back, I look at the front yard with a big smile on my face. Highly, highly recommend Leonard Landscaping for any gardening or landscaping project. Really glad we went with Leonard Landscaping to fix a few different issues... We had a portion of our back yard that could not grow grass due to tall trees and an balcony, we had too much grade from the original construction of the building, our downspouts were creating erosion to the point that no grass could grow in front of it, water dripping from our patio was eroding the ground beneath, and our air conditioning unit was sitting on unstable ground. We had an original idea for a retaining wall or possibly some artificial turf but after talking with Brendan we went with just a flat patio that covers the width of the house where most of the erosion and poor growth areas were. We also buried the downspouts and put pop ups on the low side to prevent fast water movement. So in the end we were able to fix the worst looking part of our house to something that is now functional and good looking. read more

They sodded the area and did an excellent job grading it so that our backyard looks cohesive. They also put in a wall with wood beams along our driveway, which looks great. I recently used Leonard Landscaping for various projects in my yard. His team did an amazing job! From start to finish, they were professional, worked efficiently, and did the work for a fair price. First, his team at KA hardscaped my back patio. I had concrete and they laid stone pavers over it. It looks amazing! They did the job in about a day and a half, and were careful to level the patio correctly so that water would drain into the drain already in my patio (which they also raised to be even with the new floor). My house is about 140 years old so there are a lot of lines that aren't quite straight, but you would never know it because they worked their magic to hide that. A big caveat of this project is that my patio does not have access from the back. This means that they had to come through my front door and through my house to get to the back in order to do the work. The team was so flexible on this issue and they were so respectful of my home. They laid down tarps to protect the floor and cleaned up when they left. Ultimately, the patio looks amazing and we have already enjoyed it so much! KA's team also repaired my brick stoop under my front door. It was a minor repair but parts of the stoop were wobbly and dangerous. They repaired it in just a few minutes and it looks as if it had never been touched. The stoop is very sturdy and stable now. Brendan also re-sodded my front yard and cleaned up a lot of overgrowth in my back patio. The sod in the front looks wonderful--you can hardly see the seams--and even after finishing the job Brendan followed up with me to make sure I was watering enough, since we had an unexpected heat wave come through right after he laid it. I have also asked Brendan to come back for mowing. In the back, I have a retaining wall with a tree, bamboo, and (formerly) overgrowth that is growing above the wall. It is an extremely difficult spot to reach. Brendan's team didn't complain at all and they got the work done quickly and so well. Although I originally wanted to cut down the tree, after talking with Brendan I realized that didn't make sense. He was very honest with me about what his team was/was not capable of doing and I really appreciated that. In the end, we left the tree but he pruned it so that the branches/leaves weren't in the way. They also cleaned up all the overgrowth and now the area looks neat and nicely kept up. It changed the whole look of my patio for the better, and now maintenance will be so much easier! Truly, Brendan and his team did an amazing job on every project I asked them to do. They were so easy to work with, were willing to do the work when there were some logistical complications, and the quality of their work was extremely good. I am so happy with everything they did and would hire them again in a heartbeat. read more
