I say "completed" because I will still be out sanding and staining a lot portions of the deck/porch this summer - not because of a poor job but because it simply wasn't done. Until I expressed my level of frustration at the 8.5 month mark, communication was poor and limited (and 100% on their schedule). While I wouldn't ever recommend, it probably won't make a huge difference since they seem to be so overwhelmed with work (while waiting for my "small" deck job (which grew and grew at each turn, and significantly exceeded every estimate and re-estimate) I watched entire houses be built around town).

He was the remodeler on our home that we purchased and did beautiful work for the seller. So we wanted to work with him and approached him about building a carport. At first he wanted to charge us $5000 for the carport plans. I balked at that and he said he would do the plans for $1250. He sent me a sample document of what the plans would look like and I agreed and paid him the money on October 16, 2023. I followed up repeatedly and then finally he gave us the "plans" on December 31, 2023. It looked like a kid's Minecraft game. There were no measurements to scale, and while I think this was supposed to be our house, he didn't have our kitchen window or our living room window in the "renderings" and it appears that the kitchen window would be blocked by the carport column. The fence wasn't in the correct place, the driveway elevation looked different from our driveway. And there was no scope of work for the carport, so we still have no estimate for the cost. I have reached out to him again and again for a refund and he has completely ghosted us. No reply at all. It has been over 5 months and we have no hope we will see that refund or what we paid him for. His negative google reviews have disappeared but hopefully the Yelp ones will serve as a buyer beware for David Rand at DMR Design.
