Came here with a couple of coworkers on a business trip because it looked like a fun, funky place to grab some food and a beer. Jackpot! Good music, nice bar and beer assortment, variety on the menu and wacky decor. Server was quick and helped us pick out what to try. The "bucket of bacon" appetizer was good, and the right amount for the 3 of us. I tried the traditional poutine and was a little disappointed as I thought it was a bit bland. Not sure if that's just how it is, or this place was a little off. Fun dinner, not expensive. We were looking for a great place to have a cosy lunch as part of the lunch experience as part of my Calgary food experience as i am vistiting the city for the second time of my life. The first thing you notice are the decorations that are all over the place that tells you this is Calgary . We were greeted very promptly by a pleasant gentleman who knew everything that was on the menu. my brother and i shared a buffalo chicken taquitos. i was concerned that this might be too spicy but it was just right . it had flavor but fire was not coming out of your mouth . As for the mains, i had smashburger with 2 patties and got waffle fries while my brother got the mac and cheese. which he says melted in his mouth and might have been the best mac and cheese he has had this year. Another thing make Leopold's stand out as it has tv every where. This is the first place that actually focussed on the Winter Olympics focussing on all the events. for those of you who don't know Calgary hosted the winter olympics in 1988 but you would not know it this week throughout the city. Not one sign or notice to tell you about. That said Leopolds is a place you can go after a long work week, listen to some country tunes watch sports and have a super meal. We may actually come back before i leave to go back to Ontario catch a certain Olympic mens hockey game Canada vs Finland in the semi final. This place is that good . read more

If you are looking for a great restaurant with great food & drinks... That's the place to go!!!! Leopold tavern is pretty cool restaurant with an amazing decoration and amazing customer service. Food there are really tasty and the cocktails are amazing as well. My favourite dish is their poutine, there are three options, but the chicken one is the best!!! Chicken wings were really tasty and the regular Caesar was refreshing and so yummy!!!! I kept ordering these drinks.. Was able to sit on the patio Saturday around 6:30pm. Wasps were a problem. White wine sangria was not worth it. Very bland. Pulled pork sandwich was 10/10. House salad was good too. Special was dill burger and friend liked his. Dill fries were better than expected too. read more

Came here for Happy Hour, drinks are a steal and very delicious.. unfortunately didn't take a picture of them. This was my second stop for HH but we obviously needed to try poutine in Canada. This is the place to go for all things poutine they offer a weekly special not on the menu and also a variety of different styles on the menu. My husband and I decided to get the BBQ Rancher Poutine with fried chicken (they also have pulled pork option). Visited Calgary for a few days a stopped here. Ambiance was great & so are the drinks.

This restaurant is all over my feeds in Instagram. Therefore that is how I found how about them. Their menu looked good and their pictures did too. It's a very busy pub! However, we were there right before a Flames game. Therefore, be prepared if you go around 6 before a game you may not get a table. The menu was good. I ordered the wings and a poutine. My poutine was cold..probably sitting for a long time before the server brought it to my table. My husband ordered the donair and enjoyed it. I do think their prices are quite high. My pound of wings were $15. I also ordered a side of poutine and it was $11 which was very steep considering I ordered an entree. Service was good though. A nice pub....my favorite? no...will I come back? maybe. read more

Here's some "Irish Nachos" from Leopold's Tavern (I snuck in a couple tacos as well). Waffle cut fries, banger sausage, cheese curds, beef gravy, pico de gallo and house-made beer cheese sauce. You open a new restaurant the food is so good, service is bang on, then time passes by and everything starts to go downhill! Why, why, why? Leopold's is not immune. My last visit yesterday was an example of this sad truth. Ordered guacamole and chips. The chips were hot the guacamole bowl half full. Awesome first experience for my wife and I for our anniversary. Paul was our server and he was great! Okay, so when I think of a Canadian bar this is kind of what I had in mind. The bearded men in flannels, to the motorcycle license plates and the rock & roll kind of vibe. My friend and I opted for the smoked oysters bc for some reason he thought they were fresh in a tin. WRONG. LOL. They're exactly what it says it is on the menu. A tin that has been opened up to unveil smoked oysters. Kind of slimey and definitely not for me but still, I tried it and kind of liked it? I'd be brave and order it again! Our local. And we love it. From the random jukebox to the even randomer decor. We came here for the nachos 5/6 years ago and we keep coming back. We won't kid you. Post-COVID the quality dipped a bit. But it seems of late they are back to their best. I think the prices are a little north of reasonable. We paid $132 (with 20% tip) for 6 pints of Guinness and a plate of Nachos. It was a big plate of Nachos (Lol! I sound very Constanza-"Big Salad"-like there). But $32 for it? Yikes! The old Drum & Monkey is now Leopold's Tavern. I was invited to the friend's & family opening on Friday night after the Flames game and arrived to a pretty packed place. The party had been going on since at least 6:00. There was free drinks for all and a bunch of staff to keep things moving nice and quick. Talking to some of the people I was with, they told me that there's a few Leopold's in Saskatchewan with the name of the bar being the street name that the original tavern is located on. The decor is eclectic. They've covered the walls with cork and there's all sorts of random things stapled to them. Old hockey cards, license plates, flyers and posters from other bygone bars in the area, photos, you name it. There's still some space on the walls for more to come. At the bar they have approximately 10-12 taps flowing with local craft beer. Tool Shed, Banded Peak, Annex, Village, and more were all being served. read more

The best 'dive bar' in the entire Beltline area - Buffalo chicken poutine is next level. Any time I'm meeting up with friends we usually meet here - great location, cheap drinks, great food, incredible staff. I've never had a bad experience here. Will always be back. read more

Came here for Wings Wednesday. If you order before 4:00 p.m, wings are $3 a pound. Before 5:00pm, $4. Before 6:00 p.m., $5. After 6pm, you pay $6. Not as meaty as Pure Contemporary Vietnamese but fresher and hotter than other pubs by the university and on Stephen Ave (exception being Local). Wing special applies to cauliflower wings too. The cauliflower is heavily battered and cooked to a nice crunch. I enjoyed the buffalo sauce the most, tangy with a nice zip to it. Nachos were good, loaded with cheese and other toppings. Bit pricey- for a small order it was $17 plus +4 for guacamole. The cheeseburger is dense, beefy and juicy. I prefer the yam fries over the regular fries. Place is busy but you can usually find a table. Crowd is a good mix of local workers, office workers and students. Friendly staff. read more

Super fun atmosphere, very small and tight when there's more than 15 people. I would recommend looking up their instagram account and seeing what their poutine of the week is! An absolutely amazing pub! Not too fancy with all the comfort of feeling like a regular in a neighbourhood pub! The food was absolutely delicious from what we had. Bucket of bacon!!!! And some of the best cauliflower wings in the city I think. The parking at this location leaves a lot to be desired, but that's to be expected for a downtown bar. Overall, an absolutely amazing time. I'm Saskatchewan born. I love the Leo's vibe from the spots I've been back home. They captured that same vibe here in Calgary: Small bar, friendly regulars, good food, and excellent staff. I gotta say the bar staff at the Calgary spot is top notch. Jack, Brendan, Dave & Gio make me feel right at home every time I stop in. Large wrap around bar with lots of seats. Food until 2am, lots of local brews on tap. Not your average calgary bar, but a place with lots of heart. Keeps me coming back. read more
