We have had Paul work on a couple of projects and found his price and workmanship to be very good.

"Gimme three steps, gimme three steps, mister Gimme three…read moresteps towards the door?" (Lynyrd Skynyrd) After we had our hardwood floors and steps sanded and refinished, we decided to pretty up those steps with a carpet runner, which explains why we visited Galaxy Discount Carpet Store today. That decision ended up being a FIVE STAR experience. Their two floor showroom is just incredible! Sample boards, rolls stacked on the floor in rows, area rugs hanging from the ceiling, gorgeous stuff everywhere. We met with Charlie and explained to him what we were looking for. He said that staircase runners can either be pre-manufactured in big rolls, or custom cut from carpeting meant for rooms. We knew we wanted a runner in some shade of gray to complement our wall color, and decided on a carpet runner to be cut from a big grayish roll and then finished with black binding along the edges, to complement the black stair rail and contrast with the white stair risers. It was installed 72 hours later, and that was pretty amazing in it's own right. Communication with Galaxy was great. Charlie was a dream to work with, the installers called us the day before install to confirm the date and time window, and the van with two workers arrived as scheduled mid-afternoon and did a neat professional job on the install. Charlie's price was $140 less than one we had from a flooring company out in our neck of the woods, and the carpet quality was better at Galaxy. Everything went well, and the stairs look great!

I recently had a fantastic experience renovating my bathroom with Connecticut Custom Creations…read more Before choosing them, I contacted about five general contractors. While many were friendly and professional, the quotes I received felt unusually high for the scope of work being offered. That was not the case with Connecticut Custom Creations. Their pricing was fair, transparent, and very reasonable. As with any new contractor, I wasn't sure what to expect at first. However, Dustin was an absolute pleasure to work with. He guided me through every step of the process and made everything feel easy and stress free. He also provided great advice when selecting finishes and fixtures, helping me choose options that coordinated beautifully and enhanced the overall design. I couldn't be happier with the results, and I am already planning to have my second bathroom remodeled with them as well. If you are considering a bathroom renovation or any major home project, including a kitchen or basement, I highly recommend giving Connecticut Custom Creations a call. You will not be disappointed.

This time, Renoldo came with his assistant to install one door for $ 1,500.00 and to patch over three huge cracks in the attic ceiling and wall that the company renovated in September, just six months ago. In short, wrong door knobs (twice!), a gap between the door frame and door (which they didn't want to fix), and nearly two, frustrating hours texting Dustin, the manager, who claimed he was right about everything and wouldn't take responsibility for an unsatisfactory job. I had to take doorknob pictures to prove my point because he insisted that he had purchased the right doorknob. WTF! I had to put up with his sarcasm, denials, name-calling, and gaslighting to get him to do the job. One door and a lot of unnecessary stress and aggravation. Never again, even if they paid me a million dollars, will I EVER work with this company again. Addendum: after much ado over everything, the company bought the proper color for the wood filler and filled all gaps and cracks left after they redid the door, which they should do with every door they replace that leaves ugly gaps in people's hardwood floors, even if the prior door installer was considered by them to have installed it improperly.

THIS IS A TOP OF THE LINE COMPANY -- DON'T GO ANYWHERE ELSE --…read more The owners of the company care about the quality of their materials, the quality of their work, customer service is impeccable (they are so accommodating), price was within my tight budget and they met my requested time-frame (my project was fairly simple and from the date of the template to the date of installation this took 4 days -amazing!!!! This is how you turn on a New Yorker :). I chose them to install granite countertops with under-mount sinks in 3 rental units we renovated. Being totally clueless about granite installation I overly researched the process. Even after all of that I didn't realize they all have a different way of charging and different items covered during the process. When I spoke with the owners about my concerns I felt reassured that I had chosen the right team. What I love about Wenbo and Jennie is that they have the granite onsite so you are able to see the quality of the stones they use. I also love that they also cut, polish and seal the stone onsite too. That is huge because it will save you so much time from the moment they go to your location to measure the countertop space and do the templates to the date of installation. I am so blessed to have been able to find and work with true professionals in their field. Jennie and Wenbo you two are definitely my to-go-to team for my future renovation projects. Thank you!!! xoxo Please support this mom and pop shop. They are truly truly awesome. Ok enough gushing but I am soooo happy I chose them.

We had an awful and disgusting experience with this place. I would rate it negative if I could…read more The owner's wife claims that she knows EVERYTHING about the interior design while complaining about our kitchen was so small. She made fun of what I was thinking and her suggestions were actually incorrect and all the measurement her husband took was all wrong. Since they were recommended by a contractor, I chose to trust them at the beginning and the disaster has begun. First, since all the measurements were wrong, they ordered the wrong cabinets, my corner cabinets were wrong and they said just make the sink not to face the middle of the window, then I could use the wrong cabinet. Also, they said, in order to use the cabinets that they already delivered, I could just take out the door trims so it would fit. The idea was horrible! They wanted you to accommodate their mistakes ! Imagine you have to use the sink everyday which is not aligned with the center and also the door with no trim around it. Anyway, I insisted they exchanged to the right size of the cabinets and of course, a LOT of attitude and complaining why I was so picky. Moving on to the installation of the counter top. First, I chose a very beautiful granite stone and told them how I would want it to be cut. They refused to show and confirm what was the final design because they were "BUSY". The tragedy happened when they delivered the counter top, it was the exactly the cut I keep warning them that I DON'T want. The edge was black and white so you can tell immediately that the seam was there. I understand there will be a color variation, but that shouldn't be emphasized like that. Plus, why they would refuse a customer to go onsite to check their 2000 dollars investment ? At the end, the owner yelled at me very loud and took the whole granite away. It was very intimidating as my husband wasn't there. This place will be your last place to do business with. They use "hand drawing" to design your kitchen, card board to do the molding of your counter top. Our final counter top was designed by a local kitchen studio, the owner used laser to measure and cut the stone. The installation was super professional and pleasant (GRANITE & KITCHEN STUDIO).

I needed an HVAC part for my boiler, and went to their parts department. The customers in the area were all wearing COVID masks, but the associate behind the desk did not wear any mask. This is Feb 2021, when the pandemic infection rates are staggeringly high. Since I had no heat, it was Saturday afternoon, and a snowstorm was coming in, I really needed to get that part. It cost $330; whereas it was $208 at the normal place I shop (unavailable Sat). Although I knew in advance I would be paying a premium at Modern Plumbing - at least they should follow the pandemic protocols and have the associate wear a COVID mask.

We ended up with poor quality and higher plumbing bills instead. The $700 Toto toilet refused to stop running and pulsing the water so the house shook. Modern gave us a new flow valve to replace this first one and this one did not work either. The plumber replaced it with a home depot valve and it worked..2 extra visits from the plumber for this. The vanity had blemishes on in the wood that marred the front of the cabinet. We called and emailed and they said they would work on it. The day prior to the plumber coming to install it we still had not heard from Modern so we called and they said to go ahead and have the plumber install it and that they would replace the door with the marred wood. It has been 2 months now and no door and no response. The expensive faucet for the sink had a plastic nut to hold the drain on the bottom of the sink. This broke when the plumber installed it and leaked all over the new vanity and flooring. Modern gave me a replacement nut, also plastic. Again the plumber had to come back. To add insult to injury the stopper for the drain does not stop the water from flowing out when engaged. I changed the top of the drain plug with the replacement Modern gave me and it still does not stop the water from draining out. The shower fixtures were also high end and the shower head is made of plastic and the water dribbles out regardless of the setting. I replaced it with a cheap home depot head and the pressure and flow are fantastic. We spend $4,000 on fixtures at Modern for a small bathroom and the plumber costs us over $2,000 extra for the multiple visits that the shoddy quality caused..and we still have a blemished vanity in our brand new bathroom. I would tell each and everyone of you to stay away from Modern unless you want to pay a premium for poor quality and poor service.
