Hidden gem in Nice! Southern France isn't known for pizza so I was curious how good this place would be. It's a few minutes away from Old Town and there isn't much to do around the area. The place is really small and has around 10 or so tables. They don't take reservations so get there early if possible. When I got there, the place was full and we were put on the waitlist. 5 tables were ahead of us and it took about 30 minutes to be seated. They have a large selection of pizzas so there's something for everyone. I ordered their specialty "Les Amoureux Margherita" and my sister ordered a pizza with sausage and broccolini (I forget the name of it). If you're a female, they make the pizza in a heart shape which I loved! Both of our pizzas were delicious. Their pizzas are neapolitan style so the crust is very doughy and puffs up around the sides whereas the base of the pizza is thin. This is definitely a MUST in Nice if you love pizza. I will say that's it not the best pizza I tried but it's probably the best pizza you'll find in Nice. They also serve wine and beer. The wine comes in either a glass, 1/4 pitcher, 1/2 pitcher or bottle. I ordered a 1/4 pitcher of their local white wine and it was pretty good. I like how they have different sizes you can order. Service is slow so don't expect to be in and out. Overall, I would definitely recommend this especially if you want a heart shaped pizza. read more

We were craving pizza, so we made the mistake of letting Trip Advisor steer us to a pizza joint - how bad could it be if TA raved about it like the Second Coming? Pretty bad, as it turns out... I first visited Les Amoureux with my girlfriend three years ago when it was still behind the church at the port. A friend of mine had repeatedly suggested to try it out. Finally we did... and we have been going ever since :) The difference between this restaurant and many others in general is that the owner, Ivan, is totally passionate with his food. The owner was incredibly accommodating; considering we had 11 people show up to his establishment without a reservation (not recommended). Once seated we indulged on some of the best mozzarella appetizers and pizza that I've ever had. I ordered the salsiccia e friarielli pizza. Pictures do not do this pizza justice. In short time it became abundantly clear the inclusion of this restaurant on the Best of Nice blog was no mistake. After dinner the owner took the time to learn that we were traveling from France to Italy. He wrote down the name of a sushi place he owns as well as several other culinary destinations. We were completely thrilled to dine here after reading all of the rave reviews on yelp and trip advisor. We even recruited our hotel to help us snag a reservation when we read about how packed this place can get. Our hotel relentlessly tried to get us a reservation for a month, to no avail. When we checked in, the concierge told us how many times they had called and even personally visited without so much as hearing or seeing a person on the other end. My husband and I were determined to dine here with or without a reservation, so we figured if we showed up an hour early and begged and pleaded with Ivan (the owner), perhaps we could dine here. What we learned is that as long as you show up by 7:30 or so, you should have no trouble dining here. The phone line appears to not be working at the moment, based on our rough translation of a note written with French on the door. The owner is generally the one who takes the orders and even brings out the food. The place is small and modestly decorated. The prices of the drinks and pizzas are reasonable, as are the sizes of the items. The food itself, unfortunately, suffered by our high expectations after reading glowing review after review. The food was good, but not spectacular. If you walk in with moderate expectations, you'll be better served! read more

My wife and I came in for pizza based off the amazing reviews. This was some of the best pizza if not the best pizza we have ever had. We stopped in shortly after they opened and were told that the restaurant was booked for the night. As we turned to head back the owner stopped us and offered a table at the end of the night. It was obvious this was normally a table that they wouldn't have turned over at the end of service. We were welcomed like family, at incredible food, split a bottle of wine, and given desert and lemoncello at the end of our meal. We felt bad being the last people in the restaurant but were encouraged to enjoy our meal and drinks to the last drop. Thank so much for such an incredible experience. We left knowing that when we return, event if to a different city in the Riviera, we will be making the trip to Les Amoureux. read more

Ate here 3 times during our 8 day stay in Nice, it's THAT good. Brian is the server and is incredibly friendly. Pizza was excellent every single time. We were huge fans of the Sicilian, Prosciutto and then the Roquefort. Definitely give this place a go if you're a pizza lover and want something authentic and non-touristy. read more

This is what happens when there is so much hype about a restaurant and you don't see what others felt. My wife and I finally went to les Amoureux after years of unsuccessful tries. True about the restaurant: no reservation, the phone number is not real, well hidden on the street with practically no signage, they stop serving after they run out of dough, no matter the hour, and no other food than pizza. The owner , one of the love bird is hosting, taking orders, chatting in French and Italian, serving drinks and has a very inexperienced person bringing pizzas to the tables and clearing them afterwards. So far corky, but ok. What I had serious issues with was the doughy, undercooked crust that supports fresh but fairly bland toppings. This is certainly not the best Neapolitan Pizza in France, as claimed by all. Not bad but I've had far better, especially in the south of France. That's all I have to say. Ciao....... read more

I've never had any other Napolitan pizza, so I can safely say this is the best pizza I've ever had. The crust is extremely fluffy, there is a timer on how long the dough has been rising and upon our visit it was two days, and the flavors are insane yet simple. The must try is the home special with sauce from Naples. We had it with an Italian blond beer. Les Amoureux is extremely popular, even with locals, yet you are treated with respect and get told up front when it'll take a bit longer.
