Came here for dinner while in Nice. Long line and heard it was good even though 3.7 stars. Seated outside and ended up meeting another couple from England. We ordered the mixed vegetables platter, bread and a side salad to start as well as drinks. Bread was good as was the mixed vegetables. We then ordered seafood pasta which came with various seafood. Very tasty. Our new friends ordered lasagna, rotini with meat sauce and a salad pizza. They said it was great. Service a bit slow but you in France! Nice outdoor ambiance. Better that the ratings.
We had a great experience here. Didn't make reservation ahead of time. Waited for 10 mins for a table at 8:30 pm. It was one of the best dinners we had in Nice. Started with a red wine, got the focaccia bread, a pesto pasta, a truffle pasta the mix grilled veg plate. Everything was phenomenal! Great service too. Highly recommend!
4.5 stars but will bump it up for the reasons below. Came late at night about 8pm and there was a small wait about 10 minutes. They almost always have a line when we pass by. They are busy here but service does move fast and work hard. Their menu is extensive and reminded me of a cheesecake factory vibe with their seating, menu options and size of the dishes! Definitely great value for what you pay. 1. Pizza - Good, not too soggy, flavorful 2. Seafood pasta - Loaded with ingredients and a tasty sauce to it. Lots of pasta. Overall, I would come here at least once or if you have a big appetite in the area.
Patrick, our waiter, is the best. He was so respectful, funny, and helped us save a ton of money. Don't let the prices fool you-you'll get a lot of food for your pay! Big plates. The salads are huge. So glad we didn't get two pastas on top, we would've had so many leftover. We got the bufala and pistachio pizza. The bufala was pretty underwhelming and hardly had any sauce on it. The pistachio was good. Overall pizzas were pretty average. The Caesar salads are terrific. So much food. Great sauce. Tasty cheese. Thanks Patrick!! We will be back for pastas.
We arrived at a perfect time before the line started! The young man who served us was the perfect employee! He helped guide use through the menu and we had the lasagna and seafood spaghetti! We were served very large portions with everything you could ask for. The bread was fresh and the olive bread was our favourite. The wine was a perfect addition to our meal. The service was terrific, the food was wonderful and our experience was perfect!
Yep- definitely recommend La Voglia. We walked past this restaurant several times though our stay in Nice, and there's always a line. On our last day, we were looking for a lunch place, and saw no lines with a couple of tables open in the outdoor dining area! We saw this as a sign to check it out... My spouse ordered the plat du jour, which was a trio of kabobs while I got the fritto misto. This was one of the best fritto mistos I've had--I really liked the assortment of fishes included. Voglia is definitely a must try!
We had dinner at La Voglia in Nice one evening back in August. Honestly, it didn't seem like there was any really many amazing options for restaurants in Nice, most places seem to just cater to tourists, which I guess makes sense in a tourist trap-type town. La Voglia had a pretty long line in front, lots of tables outside and a pretty decent sized indoor section as well. I would say we waited for about half an hour; my wife and I were willing to take the first available table, most people wanted to sit outside, so we were able to get in a little faster. The food was good not great, not really memorably good or bad. But what I do remember was the size of the dishes, they were massive, and the prices were pretty cheap considering the portion size. Bottom line, I left happy overall, and in a town with not really awesome choices, I would go back if I am ever back in Nice.
We ate at La Voglia for lunch on Oct 1, 2019. The food was great and our service was prompt and courteous. We started with the burrata salad and had pasta for our entrée. If you are not big eater I'd recommend sharing a plate. Unfortunately I couldn't take my leftover with me since we didn't have refrigerator in our hotel. Too bad because the gnocchi I had was simple and delicious! Definitely get the burrata salad it was outstanding. Everything was fresh and was a plated with culinary artistry. The outside dining area where we ate provides a scenic view of Old Nice and Cours Saleya. As you dine you can enjoy watching the hustle and bustle of all the tourist making their way in and out of Old Nice.
Wonderful service, food, and atmosphere! I had the Salmon and Tuna and my partner had the black truffle risotto. Would highly recommend for anyone visiting Nice. The food is reasonably priced too. Four stars because we requested to share entree but we were discouraged by staff. Portions are huge.
We are out of town visitors and came in on a Thursday night. It was daily busily but we were seated quickly at our choice of inside or outside. We sat outside on the covered and insulated patio. They also had heat lamps, so it felt ok in February outside. Our waitress was pleasant and efficient. My husband ordered the seafood spaghetti which had a light red sauce and seafood including mussels. He really enjoyed it. I had the lightly fried seafood plate. Check my picture for what's on it. The shrimp was slightly over done but still good. The fish and calamari were breaded and seasoned well. I've never had fried sardines (whole body included; I've only had canned sardines in the past) so I wasn't prepared to eat these. I tried it but it wasn't my preference. The salad was nice and fresh. We also enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine. La Voglia was quick and affordable but good. read more

A large group of friends and I were traveling through Nice and had an amazing lunch here three years ago, so of course it was our go to when we returned this summer. Located along the main street with shopping and restaurants galore, this Italian, street facing patio restaurant stands out. Two things to note before dining; 1. Everything on the menu is very large portions and 2. Each guest seated must order food. This is a busy area where weights can build up and seats are reserved for those people who will eat and drink. That being said, the food is absolutely outstanding and the two times I've been here they have been very accommodating with large groups without reservations. This is where I fell in love with French rosé and the price point on both food and drinks is a good value. Like I said, you will be taking food with you when you leave if you don't come hungry! I can't wait to return to Nice and when I do, this will definitely be on my list of stops read more

We didn't make reservations for this restaurant, however we waited in line for a bit and it was well worth it. The food was great, service was great, and the vibe of sitting outside and have a nice dinner was just what was needed. read more

La Voglia was our first meal in Nice. It was a delightful dinner for us Americans. The portions are huge, so sharing is recommended. We had a vegetarian pizza, sausage pizza, and sliced steak. All were great. One thing we really enjoyed was not getting gorged for ordering water with our dinner. They bring a pitcher of water (sans gas) to the table and don't charge for it. The wine was excellent that we had, and we ordered one of the cheapest bottles. It is rather touristy, and there are definitely more authentic places in Nice to eat. But La Voglia takes credit card and doesn't require a reservation (and the food is good!). read more
This place was highly recommended on various travel sites so we decided to try it out for lunch one rainy afternoon. We arrived a few minutes before they opened for lunch and were told to wait outside. Once they opened a line quickly formed. We were one of the first ones to be seated inside. This is a pretty big restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Modern decor. We ordered: Spaghetti fruits mer 18.50 euros: hubby and daughter loved the fresh seafood. Big portion of pasta. La Caprese pizza 13 euros: good thin crust pizza. Not as good as the stuff you find in Naples but it did hit the spot. Couldn't finish it so they provided some foil for us to wrap it up. Cafe 2.50 euros: good Service was good and food was served at a reasonable pace. Believe in the hype and check this place out if you are in the neighborhood. read more

Amazing restaurant! We didn't order the pasta, but the portions looked HUGGGEEEE. I'm not sure how the people were ordering one pasta dish per person. I would have never been able to eat all that on my own. The pizza was delicious! Also the pizza size was big! The octopus was good although it was over cooked. If I'm ever back in Nice, definitely coming back. Service sucks, but that's just French service and it's the same everywhere unfortunately. read more

We saw some people eating on the patio and we had to eat here! We are so glad that we did. We were seated right away at 12:20, but the rush came about 5 minutes later. I ordered the lobster linguine and my husband ordered the rigatoni. Both were absolutely delicious! Very different flavors, but perfect! The service was wonderful, the view of the passers-by was entertaining. We sat next to the most wonderful woman who told us stories about her life and it made the meal even more special. When in Nice, we will come again. read more

We had dinner at la Voglia based on our local host's recommendation. We ordered a mussels and clams appetizer and a grilled calamari main entrée. The mussels and clams were cooked in a light olive oil and tomato broth, with a nice hint of basil and garlic. The mussels and clams were tender and delicious and obviously very fresh. The portion was more than enough for both of us and had us filled before we had our main entrée. Our main entree was grilled calamari. The calamari was fresh, tender, and perfectly grilled. Unlike the typical chewy and rubbery calamari that is typically battered and fried, what la Voglia served was clearly fresh caught - it was tender and buttery. This main course was served with succulent new baby potatoes roasted in olive oil and lightly seasoned with pepper. It was accompanied by a nice salad. The service was good and the server spoke good English and helped us order just the right amount of food. We will be back. read more

I ate at la Voglia three times on my trip and had great experiences each time. The only disappointment was the fried calamari dish but otherwise everything was delicious and the service was top notch. The antipasti plate had amazing variety and all of the pasta and meat dishes were well made and surprisingly large. I was amazed at all the slim people around me with these huge empty plates wiped clean! Oh we'll, guess the Promenade des Anglais is there to aid in walking it all off. I did feel rushed the first time but I understand they close between lunch and dinner and it was my fault for walking in towards the end of the lunch period. read more

Located next to Nice's famed Marché aux Fleurs, La Voglia is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the South of France. Not only is the restaurant behind the Promenade des Anglais in Old Nice but also offers an extensive selection of Italian specialties all made with high quality ingredients. La Voglia is the traditional Italian eatery that one would expect in The heart of Italy! During my last visit, we shared the lasagna, one of the specialties of the house. The generous portion was piping hot and filled with delicious cheese and ground beef. Excellent value considering the size of the portion that could easily be shared. We also ordered the Tronchetto with ham and asparagus, a dish that resembles a calzone. The dish was also delicious, however I would have liked it to come out warmer similar to the lasagna. Overall, we love La Voglia and will return every time we are in the area. read more

Two of us went here on recommendation from multiple locals! We loved it. Our waiter was helpful, albeit a little short, due to the huge crowd that had showed up after we arrived. I enjoyed red wine with my lobster and linguine. The lobster claw was HUGE and you cracked it yourself. The light, red sauce it came with was spicy and the absolute best. The pasta was perfectly cooked (al dente is not undercooked, it's the correct way to cook pasta). My friend had the squid ink pasta and it was also amazing and served with lots of seafood- no skimping there! Both pasta portions were massive and we could have easily shared one plate, but we wanted to try both! We also enjoyed the basket of bread and olive oil/spices to start. We got a nice table in the corner outside, which I would recommend! The inside is really nice as well, but when in Southern France, be outside as much as possible. read more
