The salesmen at Les Schwab are the best. My tire sensor was on so I went to Schwab's thinking I needed new tires. Three different people helped me all of them wonderful. The salesman told me my tires were fine and I didn't need tires. They could have sold me new tires but they did not. This is a great business and I am grateful for their honesty. read more

I run a transportation business and took in a vehicle with a tire that lose air overnight and let them know that I had a person with me that had a doctors appointment later and needed the vehicle back by 2:30 pm, they said that would not be a problem. They had one hour and 45 minutes to work on it. At 2:30 they said that I was second in line, I asked for the keys back and left! I will never go back to them, and everyone who I transport will know how bad of service they provided. read more

I made an appointment for an alignment for 1pm dropped off my car at 11:30. an hour and 30 minutes before the appointment time. 2 1/2 hours after the appointment time, my car was still in the same parking spot and I was told that they had other appointments that I guess were more important?? so mine was bumped would be a few more hours. There was no communication when I dropped my car off an hour and a half early for its appointment that they were behind or other appointments in front of me that were priority so it wouldn't be touched in a timely manor. read more

Went into Les Schwab for an oil change. Without asking they assumed I wanted the full-service oil change for $116. $116 for an oil change is rediculous. They changed it to a standard oil change. Also without asking they wanted to use synthetic oil which I didn't want. They changed it to a synthetic blend(whatever that is). The total cost for a standard oil change was $80. Again way too much. Avoid getting alignments here. Unfortunately, the alignment technicians are unskilled--they left key alignment components loose (Feb 2025). This isn't the first time; the same issue happened in Sept 2024. My husband and I decided to give Les Schwab a second chance since we had great experiences from 2020 onward. Big mistake. The loose components were caught during a routine multipoint inspection at our regular shop while getting an oil change. They tightened what they could to ensure the vehicle was safe. This time, my husband called Les Schwab within the 30-day warranty period to have the alignment redone. Their response? "We don't know what your shop did, so you'll have to pay again." That was the last straw. Les Schwab, you've lost our business for good. read more

Made an appointment to have new tires, but also ball joints, Pittman arm. I had confirmed that it would take 5 hours max. It is now 4:15 , and I've been here since 9:00.... still not done. The mechanic working on my car (2 hours ago) said he may not be able to finish today because he was splitting his time between my car and the walk in customers. What is even the point of making an appointment? I gave a horrible review for the les schwab in auburn a couple of years ago, but the grass valley one always tasted me right. I was on my way home from work and my check engine lights lit up like fireworks. It was spectacular and terrifying. Obviously, needed the codes read. Les Schwab was on the way home. Outside of his job description, the tech, Justin or Jason, my apologies on the name, predicted almost immediately it was likely rodents had made a snack of my engine wiring and sure enough, when he popped the hood, there were rat turds all over. While I was cussing and making references to Caddyshack, gophers, and explosives, he then found the EXACT spot where the wires were eaten. It was incredible and it saved me from having a near nervous breakdown since I had also been in contact with Subaru and of course, they told me it could cost me "thousands of dollars" to diagnose, let alone fix. (Of course they said this). Jason/Justin said is wasn't the sort of thing Les Schwab fixes but at least I had the diagnosis and exact spot where the wires were chewed. What did they charge me for this? Nothing. I ended up finding an amazing new mechanic who said it really wasn't that big a deal, fixed it for less than $200, and now my garage looks like a small military zone with alarms, traps, repellents, etc. Hasn't happened since. Thank you Les Schwab for your techs that go above and beyond. Rare these days. So grateful! read more

Their shady actions literally almost caused my death- not joking at all. After a brake job - car started shaking on the pass to Reno. Car kept feeling like I didn't have control over it almost like it was a super windy. Stopped at a tire place in Reno. Turns out Les Schwab techs had overfilled my tires to 65 - my Jeep needs 36! Almost caused all 4 blowing out and could have cost me my life, according to the tire tech in Reno. At time of service Les Schwab techs were insistent I needed all new tires but two were brand new. They also took the 2 newer tires and put them on the back. They purposely overfilled my tires so they'd explode and I would need to come back and get all 4 replaced. Back to Big Brand I go. If I could this would be zero stars with a danger sign. read more

Bad service. Shame on me for going back. Last summer they sent me on a trip with brand new tires... I have Duelies in the back. This is for my RV. About the time I reached the mountains of Southern Oregon, I felt I had to drive extra slow as the whole rig felt Squirrley.... I pulled off at a rest stop to check the pressure and sure enough, they forgot to put air in one of my back tires. Thanks guys! I slowly made my way back down the mountains to Medford, pulled into another Les Schwab, where they really didn't want to help me, but once they realized I wasn't leaving and was equipped to "live" in their parking lot, they scrambled and got me back on the road within 5 hours. Speedy!!! The only problem was lack of air. So... forgiveness is for me to give. I returned to Grass Valley, and brought in two rims and two new tires for them to mount and balance. I asked them to not change the valve stems. They changed them anyway and lost my new ones that matched my back wheels. Thanks guys! Now, they are "looking" for the old valve stems, with little hope. I can just go ahead and order new ones. But the principle here is, treat people better! I am the sucker. Looking for someone local who actually cares about the customer and their business reputation. hey guys ! do want to hear about a really bad tire shop... ding ding ding this place right here ! first off i would like to say that as someone in the customer service industry, i would never treat somebody this way. if you mess up, you fix it right? not this place. i would like to warn you they may attempt to steal your spare tire (like they did mine). let me give you a little backstory. about 2 ish months ago, i completely wrecked my tire on a pothole, as my fiancé has been a loyal customer to les schwab for 5 years we decided to take it there! typically there customer service is great, overall we have had great experiences with them. we decided to get all new tires on my car, and replaced the wheel that had gotten tore up. paid an arm and a leg, waited for them to call us, never got a call. we had to call them every time to get any type of update on the car, and most the time they didn't even know what was going on the with car! fast forward to now (2 months later) my back tires are bald down to the wire, and not even 6,000 miles on my car ? hmm. so my fiancé takes it back in, drops the car off to have them take a look at it. and again never called to update us and didn't even know what they were doing to the car. nor had they done anything yet? they then proceed to tell us false information about my car and quoted us a good ol' $750 for two new tires. they never told us that it needed a rear-end alignment, which was way out of align after they put the brand new tires on them, and the rear tires were cambered in, and pigeon toed in at least 2 degrees. and the whole rear end was shifted to the left. ridiculous, they refused to help us out at all for there own mistake, and told us our vehicle was out of warranty for the alignment they never told us about? shady. but don't worry guys, we did thankfully get my spare tire back. thank goodness my tires didn't blow up while i didn't have it. could have been a huge problem. read more

This is the third and final time I've walked into Les Schwab in grass valley and had to walk right back out for gross overpricing; this time it was snow chains, last time it was tires. It's a wonder they are able to stay in business while being beat by their competition in literally everything, namely price. Most businesses with limited visibility like this location tend to not stay in business for too long blatantly overcharging their prospective customers. Bad news about price-gouging travels fast around here. Im happy taking my business elsewhere; just found the same snow chains for much less, heading there now. Id rather drive out of town than deal w these ppl. I'm just a guy looking for snow chains. Not interested in another "brick & mortar" bullsht speech to justify overpricing; I'd rather go to a different "brick & mortar" establishment to get them. My advice, save your time & money- go somewhere that will either offer to price-match or charge a fair price (you shouldn't have to ask for it), period. No phone-tag, no haggling.... If you have to write it out in crayon for them; if you have to contact a manger, if you have to show them everyone else's price somethings obviously very wrong. I have visited Les Schwab in 3 different locations, I had bad experiences & good experiences, but my best experience was with the team in Grass Valley. The friendliest service, and on point! Even before being a client there; I was helped promptly when I had some issues with my old tires. Once again, I was helped with the highest quality service and costumer's care. Had all my breaks done last month at another location. Took my car for an oil change at my dealership last week, and they informed the break fluid was leaking. I told the dealership's guy that I had the breaks done last month at Les Schwab, and I was recommended to take my car there and let them know about the leak. He said:" - I don't work there, but I am 100% sure they will take care of you, since this job has just got done! " So, this was what I did. Got one appointment easily, explained the situation. They checked it and there was indeed a " faulty" piece, that was replaced promptly and because it was under guarantee, there was no charge. All of this under 2 hours, on Saturday, right before the holiday. I just want to extend my deeply and genuine appreciation for all the times that I was helped by the Grass Valley team! These guys are absolutely fantastic and saved our lives on the side of the road . When AAA totally dropped the ball and told us that they couldn't help us after leaving us stranded by the side of the road for 24 hours, these guys came to rescue us and fixed our complicated dualy tire blowout on our motorhome. Their service and communication was impeccable. They even called to make sure that we got home safely. Amazing customer service and the best mobile tire service in California. They got to us as fast as they could. Being stranded by the side of the road doesn't feel good, and these guys followed through to make sure my 30 foot rv had fantastic tires to make it home safe and sound! Chris was awesome! Took my car into Grass Valley Les Schwab because I was getting a slight vibration at high speeds. Was told I needed the wheels balanced and that my tires were wearing in the center and I would also need new tires. Had them balance the tires which was $33 and said I would think about new tires. I drove home and was still getting vibration. Took it to another tire shop for a 2nd opinion. The shop employee checked and showed me proof that they NEVER balaned my tires and that there was NO WEAR on my tires! I called Les Schwab and was told by Jamie that the manager would call me back as soon as he was done talking to a customer. Never received a call from the manager. Their employee outright lied to me and ripped me off for $33. I will never go there again! read more

I checked my car in and they kept trying to charge me for an aligment when I simply asked for a visual alignement. I tried to politely explain but the gal running the front counter made it obvious she didn't want to hear me. I typically patronize a locally owned tire service. Since Les Schwab in Grass Valley is open Saturdays and offers online the opportunity to book an appt. I thought I'd give them a try. I booked an appt online and in the box asking for additional comments I entered: "I have the tires, I only need to have them mounted". I showed up for my appt and was told that since I didn't buy the tires from them, they wouldn't get to me that day. I stated I had clearly put in the comments at time of booking the appt that I already had the tires, so why didn't they notify me they would only mount tires I bought from them before I made the trip to their shop? Response was a shoulder shrug and a "sorry". Caused me tremendous inconvenience. First and last time to Les Schwab for me! Back to my local hometown tire service, even tho they don't make appts!! read more

Even though I've had bad experiences here in the past and have heard absolute horror stories.... I wanted to save money and do the proper thing by getting a suspension component replaced under warranty.... Within a month give or a take a few days, I've had a domino effect of things going wrong as soon as I went into this place. 1. Extreme premature tire wear, had to purchase a brand new set of tires way before I should have. Thankfully I did not purchase the tires from these people. 2. Had to replace idler and pitman arms. Which were brand new as of 7 months ago. 3. Completely lost steering and all control on a busy intersection in the Bay Area last week.... Almost got hit had it not been for the amazing Fish and Wildlife Warden who stopped when he saw my truck disabled half in the road.... Lower ball joint literally sheared off from lower control arm. Had to replace ALL of the driver's side front end components... As I said above, the front end on my truck was completely redone not even 7 months ago. With QUALITY parts and PROPER installation. Thankfully there was a shop down in that area who was available to get my truck back on the road. Was only supposed to be a 3 day mini vacation. Dropped $2,229 (including replacement of the SAME part from Les Schwab) on my truck alone... $219 per night at a hotel. I missed 4 days of work... 7 days... Add it up... And I cannot even get the manager of this store, Luis, to call me back. DO NOT GO HERE. PLEASE!!! If you don't want to deal with immense stress, blowing money and your vehicle likely toe completely ruined, just do yourself a favor and take lesson from my experience. read more

Terrible service spent thousands of dollars there and over the last 5 yrs management and the people they have working in there has gone down tremendously. Terrible customer service the last 2 times I've been in there never got an update or call always had to call and see how my vehicle was doing and nobody knew what was going on. This last time I bought brand new tires from them and the rear tires went bald after 2 months of owning them not even 6,000 miles on them and they wouldn't cover it under their warranty. Then proceeded to charge me $750 for two new tires. Terrible customer service do not recommend going there. I would also like to add they let the car leave the shop off the rack knowing the rear end needed to be adjusted and did not let my wife know. Also the donut "spare" tire that was on the car when it arrived at the shop that les Schwab took off never put it back in my wife's car and I did not find out about it until 2 months later when I realized the new tires were already bald. read more

I recently purchased some new wheels and tires for my truck. I came in there expecting to have to come back after making an appointment but Gary was able to get me in and out in a very reasonable amount of time. I was extremely happy with the customer service that he provided. He asked me to come back after 50 and then 100 miles to have my wheels retorqued . I came back after 50 miles and he re-torque my wheels and I was happy and down the road. I came back later after 100 miles and parked where I parked before walked inside stood in line spoke to young lady who said that I should've just pulled up to one of the carports as if I knew that. So I went out and move my truck waited for probably 15 to 20 minutes came back inside and I asked her if she had advised any of her technicians what I was doing. She said no just go back and wait at the port and they technician in at port will assist me. Well there was a car on the Jacks with the wheels off but there was no technician in that port. So I continue to wait for another several minutes and when nobody came out I left. It's too bad because Gary put a lot of effort into good customer service and for this young lady to have an attitude that she didn't even care. And didn't even assist me and just took up 35 to 45 minutes of my time waiting. I won't be going back. Gary has since reached out and asked me to bring my truck in so that they may service it. read more

Let's start by saying I tried to give them a chance and The girl "Jamie" deserves nothing but what she will get. Dropped off 8 tires at 10am, was told two hours .. called at 4pm and was told I'm not a priority from "Jamie" and hung up on... because I didn't buy the tires from them. Called back and she said the same and hung up. All you had to say is that it would take more time. Showed up at 6pm when I was told 5 ... no call and she hid and they all acted like nothing. Man up and do what you say. Got home and didn't even realize then scratched 3 wheels ‍ talked to corporate and now they have to buy me 2k wheels. Moral of the story ... Jamie and all that work there don't give a shit about you or your wheels... and they over charge ... corporate apologized but my wheels are rare and the service is -5 ... please go there just to tell Jamie and the co workers they can't do this and we will stand up. Are you kidding me. 65,000 mile tires paid $1200 dollars. Tires wore down after 20,000 miles now they won't honor their "warranty" and said it's because I need an alignment. However the auburn Toyota tech says that no alignment is necessary. Sounds like a scam from getting out of warranty for our tires. I'll never be back. read more

You'd think we would have learned, after purchasing upwards of a half-dozen sets of tires in the last 15 years (and we're a single car family) that Les Schwab would hose us yet again. We purchased a set of tires that cost $1000 for our Ford Fusion, and when we purchased them the salesperson was full of promises, if ANYTHING went wrong, bring them in, we'd be taken care of...this is where I want to hit myself upside the head...and of course, after about 30,000 miles (supposed to last 70,000) one of our tires keeps losing air, so we take the car in to have the tires looked at, and before anyone really looks at the car, the person helping us refuses to do anything but sell us a new set of tires, saying that if they attempt to repair the tire and anything happens, their liability...blah, blah, blah. These are absolutely the worst tires we've ever purchased, they cost us a grand, and Les Schwab won't stand behind them? At least give us a new tire! But memory always serves us best during times like these, and this is nothing new for them. In years past this has happened, but unfortunately, memory seldom serves when we need tires and Les Schwab is only a few blocks away. So yeah, that's it, we are done (finally). I won't ever buy tires there again, and will certainly discourage anyone else from doing so. Side note: we were told that our tire was filled with air when we were there, however when driving home there was almost none, so we ran to the closest gas station to fill it (it's a slow leak).
