Went for an oil change. Took much longer than I was told and was late to work. A few fluids were marked "in severe condition and needing immediate attention", but they never called or found me outside to ask if I wanted them taken care of. These guys are crooks. Took my Dodge vehicle for a would not start problem. Receive a call "fixed, test driven, ready to pick up". Paid $709.00 dollars, but when they went to bring my auto to the office it would not start (same problem). Said they would find out "why no worky" wanted me to leave it and come back. But after several weeks "still no worky" and they towed my car off site. WOULD NOT REFUND MY $709.00! read more

To be VERY clear, I came to this location with my Buddy who brought their 4x4 here. No, I did not mean another location in Sacramento. I meant here, near Habitat for Humanity. And I did not become a Customer because of all the commentary I endured and witnessed, which is WHY I am not in your system. To watch your Team mess up vacuum lines, and not know why it was "weezing" until the hood was opened up and questioned upon leaving. A comment being made by your Tech, "Oh, sometimes these things just make noises". Ummm, no. No they don't. (They weren't connected properly!!) This shouldn't be an issue when YOU are being paid to fix it and you claim to have done so. Even had to come back after leaving that time because of your lack of care to detail for other issues. Wasn't something willing to let go due to the high cost of your prices. So, you attempted to fix it and your Customer never came back again. And I never brought my vehicle here, even though Eli was pushing for me to schedule to get it in. No way. So sorry to taint your reviews, but your Team (even the older shorter guy who worked on it) doesn't know how to work on everything and if they don't know how to fix something, don't waste someone else's time and money. Disappointed in the quote received for my BF vehicle. Very pricey. BUT, the fact they were adding items on here that weren't necessary was extremely uneasy. Won't even bother calling back. Also, we learned after the fact - my friends vehicle was here and also had additional items added they didn't request initially, that when they left the lot, the vehicle was having issues with leaky hoses. Luckily, they flagged some workers down that were still around so they were able to "look at it"....with the line coming out of a tech, " Oh, I didn't hear that when I moved the vehicle here.".....the whole point of going somewhere is to make note of issues and fix them when thousands of dollars are spent. So we tried, but we won't use. The stars are because my friends were able to so far use the vehicle they brought in, hopefully nothing bad happens! I could not be happier with the crew and the work All Star has done for me. Over the last few weeks they've done extensive work on my "Baby" my 97 Jeep Cherokee Sport. Dale is a Jeep enthusiast as well and I've enjoyed our love of Jeep camaraderie moments! I appreciate how they're so detailed oriented, keep excellent records of what's been done to my Jeep, notify me of upcoming needed maintenance so I don't have to remember, and their customer service and communication is off the charts! I called all star auto about a timing belt replacement on a 2008 mercury mariner 4 cylinder. Even though it has a chain instead of a belt, I was quoted $1500.00. I called Douglas auto and they told me that the Chain doesn't need replacing unless there's a problem. Douglas auto also said I could go 400,000 or more unless it needed it. I took my car here for transmission repair because I had seen so many great reviews online and decided to give it a try. Although the customer service from Eli was fantastic and they did call me with updates on my car to let me know of progress being made and I am glad to have the car able to start up again.. I'm having to take it into a secondary mechanic at JT Industries after feeling strange jerking while driving and wondering why my check engine light won't go off, and my speedometer is off by almost 10mph (from what my boyfriend is guessing the sensors from my old transmission was never put on to the new one that I supplied so the car is having a difficult time shifting and reading the correct speed I'm going), and the AC used to work before I had brought it in and now it won't which I was hoping would fix itself out (when I asked the guy at the counter how much it would cost to fix I was told it would be another $1k which I wasn't willing to drop just then.) After a couple weeks of unease from the strange sounds when driving and finally asking my boyfriend to look at my car for me, when we looked under the hood we saw that the oxygen sensor wasn't plugged in, the brake master cylinder wasn't plugged in, and the transmission wiring harness wasn't routed where it goes (it was outside of the hardlines) so it was flipping freely (and under hard braking it could reach the fans and be destroyed.) I was told multiple times since I supplied the transmission that the part itself was under no warranty from them and I admitted that I understood this and I still do, but the work itself I feel should still be held accountable. I feel awful leaving a less than 5 star review but after seeing the carelessness left under the hood of my car and having to get things corrected elsewhere I'm disappointed especially after dropping nearly $2k on their work and walking out with more problems. I've put off leaving this review because I dislike confrontation, but its so much money to put into just to stay quiet over. read more

I went to all star for an oil change for my 2017 subaru outback. I called 6 different shops in the grass valley area (why pay more?). They ranged in price for a synthetic oil change from $45 (all star) to $75, with most in the $60+ range. For the same oil change!! So I booked an appointment (about 5 days out) and today went in for the first time. The shop looked brand spanking new and was clean, like eat off the floor clean. The guy at the front desk was professional and friendly and courteous as can be. He directed me to a sweet family run place called Warehouse Deli up the street to get some grub while I waited. And the best part? They washed my car AND rotated my tires. No extra charge. My total bill for about an hour of their time, synthetic oil and filter, tire rotation, wash, chassis lube, and 27 point inspection? $45.53 Wow. Incredible. I literally saved $20-$30 by going here. If you throw in the car wash (not bad!) and tire rotation, more like $50!! Maybe they're running some kind of promotion, as they're posted hourly rate for work is $110. Whatever it is, I loved their orientation toward service. I think I just found my next mechanic. read more

Awesome people. I had to have my engine replaced and being that I had a third party warranty (they don't like to lose money) I thought I was doomed. After reading my warranty contract I didn't think it would be covered. These guys worked with the warranty company and in the end the company paid. It must have been a pain as the company sent out inspectors twice I think. I got my car back with a new engine with it's own generous warranty. All in all a great experience. I'm usually pretty untrusting when it comes to mechanics but I'll be back. Also going to be my new, go to oil change place. Thanks guys. Unethical and incompetent. I took my car to All-Star because it was overheating and I had steam coming from the engine. I told them there was a leak as I could see coolant all over the engine. They proceeded to keep my car for three days as they could not figure out why it overheated. At the end of the three days, they told me they replaced the radiator cap that they hoped it would fix the problem. They charged me almost $600, for "hoping" they fixed the problem. Fast forward about a month and my car stopped dead on a busy, two lane road. I had it towed to Import Auto, based on the recommendation of the man who helped me get it off the road. Import auto immediately found a leak in the radiator (which caused my car to overheat in the first place) the head gasket was blown, the head was warped, and there was a hole in cylinders one and two. I asked what it would cost to have it fixed, and at this point they said it would cost between $1500 and $3000. They only charged me 50 bucks to have it diagnosed and they found the problem immediately. I took it back to All Star and asked them to reimburse part of the $600 they charged me for not finding the problem. He refused and told me they had done nothing wrong. I went back to the other auto place and asked them to look over the invoice and they told me that All Star should have known to check the head gasket when I first brought it to them and pulled the spark plugs, none of which they did. Basically they wrote down a bunch of little test they did it had nothing to do with the actual problem. The other auto places' comment was that I had been highway robbed. Conclusion: All star is a joke when it comes to understanding and fixing cars. They don't know what they're doing and they put charge you to to three times as much as everybody else, and then deny their incompetency. I would recommend to avoid them read more

Had two oil changes done over 6 month period. Both times they lied on the receipt stating that the tires were checked and set to 32 psi. After a couple days post last oil change I started to notice the car running funny. Had to take my car in to a different auto shop cause I felt like I was hydroplaning all the time. Only then did I find out that all 4 of my tires were critically low (21 PSI). They told me that tires loose pressure over time and that there is no way they were ever filled since I bought my car 1 year ago. This of course means that All Star Auto simply checked the box next to the tire pressure and wrote down 32 PSI. Because of this I was getting horrible gas mileage for months. I also noticed they didn't fill my washer fluid for my first oil change. They checked the box that said "level ok" when it was empty. Overall, I think this place tries to cut corners by not really checking parts of your car that are on the list. I know the oil change price is a bargain...but not if they are skipping steps which ultimately causes me more money as a result. read more

I'm not sure if these guys are ignorant lazy or liars, but had a situation with my Prius where they told me I needed two different parts replaced on my vehicle, a pump and a serpentine belt which supposedly had cracks (it did not) and the pump was fine. After inspecting them myself that was obvious. Had brought my Mercedes there for a lack of power and an oil leak. They could not diagnose the lack of power and said there wasn't any. My car later died mid flight in the middle of the highway. Said they found the oil leak by using UV dye....apparently UV dye works only after driving the car with it in the oil after 5 days which they did not do. Charged me for that "work" when I know for a fact they literally drove the car around the block for 30 seconds and charged me a premium. In conclusion I would not get any mechanic work done here, they're only good for an oil change and don't know if I'd trust them with that. So after I wrote my initial review, I got a call from the owner of All-Star Automotive who wanted to ask me about my experience. After I described it to him, he said that he appreciates me bringing this to his attention, this is not how they do business, and he would like to offer me a free oil change (with complete service) for free if I would give them another chance. Now, before this call I would never go back there, but I thought if he's willing to offer that to one customer based on one bad review, maybe I at least owe it to him to take him up on such a generous offer. So here goes my new review: When I walked in this time, I was greeted by Justin, the owner, who was not there on my last visit. He was warm and friendly, and answered all my questions about my car. I was wondering about my suspension, so when my car was up on the lift for tire rotation, he took me out and showed me the suspension, pointing out the areas they look at and what they look for. My car had developed a new issue as well (on the drive there!!) and he talked to me about it without really recommending anything but making sure we could diagnose the problem accurately. They changed my oil and filter, rotated my tires, inspected my car, and even threw in a car wash, which it badly needed. All in all, I admit I was wrong about this place. It was still a weird experience, and I don't think he had his best employees in that day or something, but I would go back there again thanks to Justin's excellent customer service.
