Was a new patient, had new glasses made, could not leave them on for more than 45 minutes. I returned they corrected the prescription through an additional exam and remade the Glasses. I still could not see out of them. No problem with my eyes because I can still see fine out of my old glasses they just aren't quite strong enough. They needed a little more strength. After the second time and two round trips for a very long drive to get to them, I returned the lenses and asked for a refund. VSP my insurance company has reinstated my eye exam, and also the benefits for me to remake the lenses. But I had $230 in overages and the office is unwilling to refund those to me even though I have returned the lenses to them. I asked the office manager to please talk with the doctor. She said she would but never called me back. Now when I tried to call it says that the phone number I'm dialing is not receiving any calls from me so I guess they have a way to block me from Calling. I'm going back to my old doctor in San Jose, which is a very, very long way from my home to have a new eye exam. I was planning to ask them if I could bring that new prescription into their office and have their lab make up the lenses again, so I wouldn't be out my overages but now I'm unable to reach them.

The first gentleman who helped me didn't know what he was talking about, and quickly demonstrated that he was uninterested in assisting me. Luckily, the lovely lady who ended up helping me swooped in and saved the day! I was able to process my insurance and complete my order in about half an hour. She was very knowledgeable about the frames that were covered by my insurance, and was quick in finding my coverage online. She processed the order and payment in a matter of minutes, and informed me that my glasses would be ready within a week! I had a fantastic experience here. She was incredibly professional and great to work with. This office is small, but if you need a prescription filled or if you're interested in frames, I recommend this place! It is associated with unnecessary services and exams which are not covered by insurance. The front desk really treated the customer in a very mean way. Totally do not understand what is wrong with their services. Just a signature on the prescription can torture you so many times. From making the appointment to get my prescription, two months has been passed. Still waiting for a signed signature! Also, it's way cheaper than urgent care, even without using SHIP. In theory, a good service. Now for the bad. There is (was?) one particularly rude and unprofessional doctor there who made comments about my mom while on the phone with her. Insane. Their real problem is their lack of funding. This facility is in extreme distress and needs to double its budget. The offices look fine, but that's about it. The demand for care is high, with appointments being a month out, and same-day slots being taken right when they open at 8:30 every morning. Yet, you go inside and see practically empty back rooms. Nobody inside! One doctor on duty, a few nurses, and that's it. Meanwhile all the desks and rooms are empty. The employees always complain about how they're closing soon, even when you arrive right after lunch. They begin to "soft close" early in the day and are only open until 5pm. They aren't open on weekends. SHIP is $4000 a year, and recently became partly a loan. Yet, the facility is on life support. UC Davis claims to care about students and their "wellness," yet the state of this facility says the opposite. The nurses here and supposedly other essential faculty seem to really care and are doing the best that they can from what little they have. They know the system sucks, but they can't do much about it. Aside from one rude interaction (maybe they were having a bad day?), the issues here mainly stem from administrative problems.

A lot of drops were used, about ten per eye. and when I stepped outside, my eyes were so sensitive to the light that I couldn't open them. Luckily I had someone to drive me back! I waited 45 minutes for the doctor, without anyone checking in on me during that time. I was dismissed 1 hour and 15 minutes later. During that 85 minutes of the appointment the doctor left the room twice for long periods, totaling about 40 minutes. There was a sense of distraction. The same thing other optometrist do in 20 minutes was conducted over 4 times the time. The manner of giving the eye wear prescription was rigid. My version of history, previous experiences were dismissed. Not sure what to do now, as I would have to pay out of pocket to see another doctor.
