I generally like the Leslie's stores, even though they tend to be significantly more expensive than what you can find online, mainly because they offer water testing and can give you accurate advice and information. However, this particular branch is the pits. I've been coming here for 3 years. The staff is either very knowledgeable but rude and snooty (almost all employees), giving the impression they are doing you a favor by even talking to you, or incompetent (one or two employees). I go there because they're close to me but I much rather go to their other stores since the staff there is much nicer. There were times that I drove an additional 5 or 10 minutes to get to a different store, just to avoid the staff here. read more

Our pool sweeper lid would not stay on. We tried to order parts but could not find the right part. We decided to try Leslie's Pool Supply on Burnet road in Austin. We did not remember where or when we bought the Polaris. Allen Dauphin helped us and was so wonderful! He was able to look up if we had a warranty using the device serial number (we didn't) - and was able to fix the sweeper in about an hour. We were expecting to have to live without for weeks since the parts needed were hard to find(for us) - overall a great experience. Thank you Allen at Leslie's! read more

I had 2 filters replaced by Leslie's in Austin 2 years ago. They changed their system and you now have to go thru the store that are clueless about what is needed on the job (not their fault). I placed and order 3 months ago to have another cartridge filter replaced and a Zodiac controller installed. They came to my house 3 times with wrong parts and not knowing what needed to be done. They have finally installed all 2 weeks ago but my controller still does not work. I called Zodiac for help and they told me that I need to call them back because they can't see it on their side and it was miss wired. I have been calling the service department from Leslie's and they can careless. They told me now that the manager will call me sometime next week (today is Wednesday 10/27). I will NEVER do business with this company again. read more

Just had a demoralizing experience here. To be fair, I had a good experience with the teenage kid who works here, he was very helpful when I came in to get sand for our sand filter. I have been back once or twice for some pool supplies, and had no issues. I was pleased to have a pool supply place close to our house. Today, however, my partner came in with some questions about dealing with algae - we are new pool owners, and the learning curve is huge. The first thing the man who "helped" said was to just take our pool to the curb. Well, that's not very helpful. After some persistence, we finally got a recommendation for some product we could use, but we left feeling crappy about the generally shaming attitude & lack of give AF on the part of the employee. read more

Went with my 89 year old grandmother to the Burnet location around 12:30 on a Saturday after hearing complaint after complaint from her about their service. I am appalled that the 2 gentleman working there would treat any customer the way they did especially an 89 year old woman who has been a customer for over 25 years. You both were extremely rude, pushy, rushed and answered not a single question she had until I walked up to the counter. You will no longer deal with her but her son and grandson only to get a refund. If you're HANGRY eat!!!! read more

***NO MASKS*** I use Leslie's frequently for my pool needs. However, this week when I came in for some supplies, there was some bearded jerk shopping without a mask. I should have left right then. Instead I just stayed on the other side of the shop. We're under a mask order - please put a sign in your door and don't serve customers who aren't wearing masks. Online Buyer Beware - Leslie's website is a little deceptive on what it is representing. I was wanting to purchase a leaf net. The website showed the full net for one low price - but once you click on it, it is selling parts of the net. I purchased what I thought to be the full net but it was only the rim. I tried returning to the store on Burnet - the guy was very nice but was not knowledgeable about online purchases & was unable to help. I called their service support - was told by rep on the phone all online orders have to be returned by mail and any order under $25 is not returnable. So I am now stuck with a $$ net rim that I cannot use. Highly recommend purchasing from other online alternatives that have better return policies. read more

I don't expect a pool store clerk to be a chemist, but when I send someone to pick up 4lbs of Bromide Starter and a small container of MPS shock, I expect the frilling store clerk to know what MPS Shock is, and hand it over; not send her home with sodium dichloro-s-triazinetrione dihydrate! I'm willing to bet that 99% of the time someone buys bromide starter, he also buys some MPS shock. How gorram hard is it to keep track of, or just recognize basic purchasing habits, of your customers? AAARGH! I should've just ordered this off of Amazon. It would've been quicker, cheaper, and less aggravating. I went back in personally, now knowing more hottub chemistry than most, and was able to speak in simple language to get what I needed. I'll go 2.5 stars now. I think that's a "meh" rating. Just beware that YOU need to know what you need and how to use it. The clerks can sort of point you to where it is, but will misguide you at every turn. Today I was told that a free chlorine test will also show bromide bank levels! read more

Leslie's Pool has always been very good to me! I have purchased equipment from them and I also use them for service from time to time. They are always very helpful and answer all of my questions thoroughly. I use the Henderson location (Store #312), and Tech Daniel is very nice - answers questions and shows me things. He is honest and I am very confident that these folks won't try to up-sell me or tell me I need work or parts unless I really need them. They check everything. Companies I tried to use prior were impatient with me - acted like I was a waste of their time, and only wanted to sell me on weekly or monthly service - did not support my desire to take care of a lot of my own maintenance. I am very pleased with the efforts made after review unfortunately it took a badd review to get their attention. I went in here on a Rainy Saturday, really hoping to find Leslie the Transvestite or at least some thongs and fake boobs. So Imagine my surprise and disappointment when we are greeted instead by a clean cut gentleman who keeps trying to sell us chlorine tablets. Man Chlorine is really bad for your chest hair unless you're trying to bleach it or something. There was no cardboard or bikes or begging here, just pool chemicals, pool repair material, pool fitness wear and pool toys. Despite the fact that the dude was quite mainstream in his gender and gender roles, he was able to guide me to some really cool face masks and snorkel sets. He also gave us all the inside dope on where to find the best aquatic gear if his store didn't carry it. When we started checking out the "Instant" Swimming pools, he was quite knowledgeable on the setup maintenance and drawbacks. (BTW since its October there is a huge sale on pool items). What really gave this store the five stars was when my girlfriend started poking me with a pool noodle, and I could do nothing but fight back with another pool noodle. Soon we were engaged in a full on sword fight knocking down jacuzzi price tags and swapping foam rubber blows. Through all of this the dude there just laughed. This is the ind of adventure and mayhem that makes an afternoon of shopping so cool. We ended up buying the noodles, some pool toys, the snorkel set, some exercise equipment and batteries. Oh yeah: They have the best price on AA alkaline batteries of anywhere I have seen! Stock up and save. read more

I went here one day to specifically find a floatie. I knew what I wanted and I was certain they would have it. Well they did, but their prices were outrageous! Leslies is alright for everything really but DO NOT go to this location if you need help with your pool. If you're coming to pick up some chemicals or fun toys then I'm sure they will do just fine. Before you read my review keep in mind this isn't a section of town with a lot of pools. The wheels on my polaris quit turning. I know a lot about pools so I gave it the basic look up and made sure the wheels moved together and they did, meaning the inside gears were fine. Next thing I did was unhook it and checked the pressure coming from the hose, it was powerful. Then last but not least I hooked up my old polaris that had a broken casing just to make sure the wheels turned and it took off. I went in there with a my new/upgraded/broken Polaris and wanted them to fix it or at least look at it. A tall African America gentlemen refused to listen to what I was saying for some reason. He acted as if I didn't know what I was talking about and he did and didn't care to hear about the tests I had ran myself. The polaris wheels didn't turn when it was connected to the hose, he looked at a few minor parts that were irrelevant to the problem and then moved a wheel and all 3 spun, which is supposed to happen. After that he told me that because all 3 wheels moved at once, the polaris was fine. I told him that I was aware they all moved at once and that generally means it should work however the water only came out of a single jet very softly (I have a polaris 380 meaning there are 3 jets) and shot out of the back really hard. While this happened the wheels didn't turn. He then looked at me, set the polaris down, and said "then I need you to bring me the hose." At this point I was mildly frustrated that he cut me off twice and didn't listen to me when I said 2 or 3 times that IT DIDN'T WORK. So I politely asked "why do you need to see the hose?" He told me that the polaris worked fine and it was a pressure problem. So I told him the pressure was more than powerful enough to make to polaris move and told him about how I hooked up my old one to make sure and it shot across the pool. Oddly enough he still insisted it was the hose and I needed to return with it. I went through about 10 things in my head that I could have said but he appeared to be the only one there and I realized I wasn't in an area where swimming pools are popular so I just left. I went to a location in west lake and he said "ahh we dont need the hose, it just sounds like some kind of blockage." I dropped it off, hit 5 o clock traffic, and about 45 minutes later before I was even home they called and said it was fixed and it didn't need anything replaced so it wouldnt cost anything. I picked it up the next day and asked what was wrong but that particular employee didn't know. In summary, buy your stuff at this location but take your repairs somewhere else. read more

I give (2) stars because Nate tried very hard to make me happy... I went in looking for a new 24" filter for my pool because my old filter sprung a leak. I was quoted about $450 for the filter and made sure to ask if this included everything that I need. The answer was yes, it is the complete filter. Please understand that my current filter has a leak so my pool is not running and I need to get it fixed pronto. I got a call from Nate stating that the filter came in, ahead of schedule. WooHoo...I got it home and had friends over to help only to find that the filter was not complete. Weekend install not happening, pool is getting cloudy... Went back and talked to another employee on Monday and told him of my issue, he called Nate and said he would get back with me. I called back to see what was up and found that they had ordered the valve for my filter, great! I then called on Friday to see if it was in and it was, WooHoo!! I went to the store to find that they wanted to charge me an additional $150, NO WAY...Later in the week I worked it out with Nate and I received the valve for no extra cost. Nope, not done, now the flange that connects the two is missing... A long story I know...basically, my pool was down for (3) weeks because of this ordering debacle. I did finally get all of the parts and it is now installed but unfortunately, now I have to dump a bunch of money into the pool to get it right again. I will not be going back to Leslie's. read more

I have spent the last two weeks digging up my yard looking for a leak in the vacuum line to my filter pump... ;( I went in to Leslie's and spoke with Sam. I was tutored on the several issues that potentially cause the air to enter the line. He not only gave me great advice on maintaining the chemicals but ultimately led me directly to the solution for fixing my ongoing issue with airlocks. Turns out there are seals on the pump and diverter valves that needed replacing and wa-la... fixed 100%. Sam had only two of the four filters I needed for my filter in stock so he picked them up from another Leslie's location that day and brought them by my house. He even took the time to help make sure everything was installed properly. I see all the reviews (even the one star reviews) give two thumbs up to the customer service at this location. Most of the griping has to do with coupon discounting or matching the website pricing. As a consumer you must remember that all retail stores have extreme overhead that online stores do not have. MOST IMPORTANTLY retail stores have staff that can advise you on any issues you may have and this in my opinion is worth the extra few bucks. Once again Sam, you the man! Thanks! read more

Our pool pump went out two days before the 4th of July. Went to Leslie's to get a qualifying pump to receive city of Austin rebate. Because we were having company on the 4th the manager asked the technician to squeeze us in and our pump was installed on the 4th of July. Friendly people. Will be back. All Shoppers BEWARE!!! Leslies has taken over the entire market here in Austin and there are NO competitors. This is not fair to customers who are now paying SUBSTANTIALLY more now that there is no other choice. DO NOT buy anything from them if you can---check all prices first as Amazon for one is always much much cheaper. I just bought a pool cleaner from them and they charged me $150 more than online would cost. I called to them to match and they refused to do ANYTHING AT ALL. I waited over 2 weeks for an appt to repair my 2 horse power pentair pump. I suspected a air leak probably a faulty seal. The service people had no replacement parts. I spent $179 dollars and my Husband has to break the pump down and bring the pump in for repair. What a waste of time and money. read more

The courteous professional staff at this location simply leave no room for improvement !. Sam is senior among them. His depth of experience and expertise remove any worry I have about my pool condition or equipment. Over the years his team has met every challenge my pool had, no matter how severe. Maintenance, service, and advice about my equipment, water chemistry issues, rampaging algae (due to my own neglect), etc. all solved, again and again. I consider Sam the fountain of answers, the old pro ! (Uh, never mind he is a couple of decades younger than me). Chris and Gabe are both knowledgeable, courteous, attentive, helpful, and professional. When they engage with my problems and questions, Sam stands back, relaxed, attentive, ready if needed. The team has an easy, relaxed, confidence and courtesy that makes an ideal atmosphere for a pool store. Chris has fixed our old Hayward cleaning robot twice over the years, saving us a replacement cost. Sam, Chris and Gabe are all trustworthy. Sales are never pushy, only educational about the product choices. Whether the store is quiet or full of customers, whether Sam or Chris or Gabe is working alone, or all three are present, they put customers first, one at a time. They handle customer pile-ups with calm and efficiently. Seeming not to become ruffled or stressed. It is a quiet kind of success, and is greatly appreciated ! Bob read more

Recently, the thermostat on my pool heater stopped working. Kevin was the technician that I used. He diagnosed my problem, checked all my pool equipment and adjusted the timer on the pump which increased its efficiency. He gave my daughter and me instructions that truly helped us. He was great! I have used Leslie's pool supply for years BUT no more. The crap they sell now is pure junk. I bought a new 'premium' filter (84.99) and after a couple of weeks the black handle broke off. I rigged up a way to get it out of the pool and used it another week. Today the black bottom seal broke off, making the filter useless. What a rip-off. They must have gotten a real deal on junk from China and passed it along to the end user. I will use someone else from now on!! read more

I've been very happy with the support I have gotten at the Burnett location. Sam and Chris are doing a great job.

The staff are polite and pretty helpful. But they are also pretty salesy.. trying to sell me different kind of chemical each time with my algae problem and was not able to help my algae problem. The reason for 1 star has more to do with the company itself. Their pricing is ridiculous high (even compare to its own web site). I receive a 20% coupon for buying any chemical and I check their pricing online for Pool Perfect+PhosFree 3L, on their web site it was listed at $46.00, so I went to their store near my house and it is "on sale" for $56.00 and I asked them about their online pricing and they said they can price match that.. and when I show them the 20% coupon, they said I can only do one or the other but NOT both.... that means either way, the price would be around $46.00.. I pointed out that amazon.com has the exact same item for $31.00 and even with 20% off their web site price $46, it is still more than what I would have paid at amazon.com and his replied was simply "if I sell it to you with both price match and 20% coupon, I'll be fired tomorrow". As I stated, the guy is helpful and polite... but mark up their product and offer 20% off coupon is a deceptive sales tactics!!
