No stars. Do not do business with this company unless you are ok with no service for warranty repairs or replacement. Your better off doing it yourself. No one will return your calls and if they do consider yourself lucky. I have left messages with my local store and corporate to have my 18 month pump replaced under warranty. Nothing has been done. Do not buy anything from here expecting any warranty service. I have had an issue with my pool heater for 2 months now. The part has a seven year warranty. Leslies told me they were going to order a new one. Every time i called, I was given a different explanation on what was going on and they would call me back. I have had to call them because i never receive a call back. I went to the store today to get the part back and order it myself. They can't find the part, they can not give me any proof of any order they have placed for the part. I asked for the regional managers number, they advised me they could not give it out but they would have him call me by noon today. no call. Horrible service. read more

Have used this store for years. Lately it seems that the phosphates always test high when I get them to test the water leading to significant amounts of PhosOut to be added to the pool - this stuff's not cheap. Previous test called for 7 cups to be added - the pool were looking soapy and bubbly for days. I confirmed my latest reading today with a home test kit after they told me that the reading is over 2500 - it calls for over 5 quarts to be added. The home kit tested below 100ppm. Starting to look like they're holding their finger on the scale to move product. Time to get another store for validating test results. read more

My first time in the store, I purchased a handheld pool/spa suction vacuum that didn't work as well as I thought it would, so I brought it back with the receipt 14 days later to return it. I had originally wanted to exchange the item for something else, and I had looked at a few things online, but I wanted to ask a few questions to help me decide which model would work best for my pool. Both times that I was in the store, there appeared to be only one person working there. It's a small store, but it was pretty busy both times I was there. When I walked in, the lone salesman, Brad, was busy helping someone else. I waited patiently, then a little impatiently, as he didn't even acknowledge me. I stood there at the register for several minutes, and Brad failed to even glance in my direction. He methodically tested the other customer's water, slowly gathered supplies, printed out paperwork, highlighted the paperwork, and explained how to use the supplies, while I just stood there. Waiting. Another customer came in during that time, also to make a return, and he was also not acknowledged by Brad. I would have given up and come back another day, but I was already on the last day of the 14-day return policy. The customer that Brad was helping told him it was okay to put his stuff aside for a few minutes and help the other customers and Brad said, "No, that's okay. I have to be here anyway." So I stood there, quietly, waiting my turn for more than 15 minutes. When Brad finally finished with the other customer and looked at me he said, "Okay, what's going on with you?" Not "hello" or "thanks for waiting" or "I'm sorry to keep you waiting" he said, "what's going on with you." I've worked in retail. I know how frustrating it is to be working alone when multiple customers need attention. If Brad had simply said hello and told me he'd be with me in a few minutes, I would have felt a whole lot better about the transaction. His "greeting" was rude and uncalled for. Frankly, his utter lack of basic manners was shocking. I told him I needed to return the item because it didn't work as well as I thought it would and he told me I must be using it incorrectly. He was completely unfamiliar with the item, despite an entire display of this item being right next to the register. He was surprised when I told him it was a manual pump and didn't have batteries and that didn't attach to my pool's filter system, so therefore, I WAS using it correctly, it just didn't suit my needs. He tried to continue arguing with me and telling me that I didn't know what I was doing and I had to ask him if I could please just return it. At this point, I had been in the store for nearly 20 minutes. I called the next day and asked to speak to a manager. I just wanted someone in management to know how their store was being represented and how their customers were being treated. I was told a manager would call me back later. Several days have gone by and I'm still waiting to hear back. This level of extremely poor customer service and a lack of product knowledge are inexcusable. I won't be shopping here again. In fact, I will go out of my way to shop with a competitor after this experience. read more

As a new pool owner, I came to Leslie's as it was very close to my house. The sales staff is friendly, but knowledge and expertise is not what I would expect. They recommended the Zodiac MX-8 pool vacuum, a $500 investment in reducing my pool maintenance. The equipment had problems right from the start. Leslie's looked at, replaced something under warranty at no charge (though said they found nothing wrong) and sent me on my way. After nearly 3 months of trying to make it work, and working with Zodiac for a solution (which they could not provide either) I asked to return the equipment, even offering to forfeit a restocking fee. The manager gave me the run around and said he had to clear it with the Regional Mgr. After a few weeks, I finally got a curt voicemail indicating that they would not be willing to refund anything to me as their policy on equipment states the equipment must be returned within 2 weeks of purchase. Poor choice. I made every effort to make it work, giving Leslie's the opportunity to earn my trust and business. Now I'm working with their competitor, and referring all of my friends and neighbors to the other company, who provides both expertise, integrity, and amazing customer service. If you need good pool advice or service, I suggest you drive right past Leslie's and look for the superior shop down the road... read more
