We started as the only two people in the tasting room, but very shortly the entire room was full of all kinds of return customers, mostly wine club members. We sampled their beautiful wines, which were quite good, and enjoyed them. There was no pressure to purchase wine, the tasting room server was as pleasant and knowledgeable as she possibly could have been. She was swamped with people, and someone did come to help her. I loved the location of this tasting room and even though it was small it was nicely appointed and felt akin to someone's living room. The road to get up the hill is very narrow that we almost missed it bec it looked like a driveway. The cement structure was so sleek and modern, yet it was in the middle of this farmhouse kind of area... it was a little shocking, in a good way. I feel bad taking off stars because I actually loved the wine at Storrs, but for the cost of the wine tasting per person, I was astonished at how TINY the pours were. We are talking the tiniest sip. You don't even have enough to swish it in your mouth to get a good sense of the wine on your palette. We thought we were being "punked", except every pour was this miniscule. There is also a strict no outside food policy here, yet they don't sell food. This is a big downside for me because I find drinking wine a great opportunity to sit back and relax with friends, and that includes munching on some food! Counter space was very cramped in the tasting room, and no one greeted us or acknowledged that we entered the building even. We just walked around for awhile until we found a tiny corner to insert ourselves. The set up isn't ideal for when there are multiple groups inside. There are tables in an outdoor patio and one long table indoors, but with the tasting pours being half a sip, you really don't need to sit down. So this is a big downside for me. The wine is delicious, so I think it's worth tasting and buying some wine here. My tip is to go on an off day so you can get better customer service and maybe get more than a 0.00001 ounce pour. My favorites are the Rose and Integrato Pinot Noir. Nobody was there when we arrived mid afternoon. After an hour, every table inside and out were filled. Katie did an impressive job catering to everyone on her own. We greatly appreciated her service, big kudos to her. This tasting room is connected to a shoe shop, so you could literally bring your glass over and shop while you sip. I liked the beautifully crafted hardwood tables inside, they really elevate the room and tasting experience, haha! I am not usually a Pinot Noir drinker, so if you're not either, I say don't be shy, give it a try!

But then when the locals began to arrive (3 different elderly couples and an older gentleman by himself - all Caucasian and all what I would describe as "old Aptos money." The service then changed drastically - myself (Latina), two other friends (both Latina) and my fourth friend (Black) all noticed the change in atmosphere. I appreciate the employee was busy, that did not explain her change in attitude to us or lack of wine in the pours. We each ordered a flight and each taste was a swallow. We have gone to other wineries in the past and the pours were always generous. In addition we had to keep hearing how she wanted to use up the wine that was already opened and not open new bottles because after today the shop would be closed and that wine would go to waste. NEVER have I had such a negative experience at a business in Santa Cruz county - and I go out frequently. Myself and my 3 friends discussed the incident at length after leaving. And we all agreed - I guess people of a certain race and privilege are always welcome at this wine tasting spot. By people of color are not. Got it. Located in a residential area in a very beautiful neighborhood. Our tasting session which was located outdoors right next to the redwood tree was very intimate. It felt so special to listen to the actual wine maker talk about his wines. Thus while their black cat, Cobbs was asking for more pets. Man I had a really nice time here! Oh inside the barn they had four different cheeses set up for us to taste with bread, yummy! I did get the wine truffles but I'm very sad because I'm going to give it to my neighbor lady as a present. I should have bought some for myself. Their wines are really good. We got three bottles can't remember what, but they tasted good. I'm looking forward to opening them up soon.
