We walked in Saturday around 4pm. It was not busy at all. There was only one other table taken outside. We decided to sit indoors since it was just our group. The owner poured the wines for us. We shared 2 tastings ($20 for 5 wines) between 4 people. We knew the wine was more Italian style so we didn't want to order too many tastings. We already went to Soquel and Bargetto before this. All were Italian style. Wines tasted aged and light. Not our style. We prefer bold and flavorful Californian wines. The owner offered to pour dessert wines too. They do allow outside snacks or food here. They have two cute winery dogs that roam around the tasting room. read more

Winemaker and owner, Mikael, is almost always there. He's super knowledgeable and kind and always willing to talk wine with everyone. I really enjoy their Big and Beautiful, their Cab and when they have their Italian varieties the Freisa, Barbera and although can be very strong I also really like their Sangiovese. Sangiovese's are sometimes hit or miss because they can be really acidic but they make a good one. Thanks! read more

Such a great gem in the Santa Cruz area! It was raining and we stopped by and enjoyed lovey wines and fantastic conversation with one of the family members who owns the winery. She did a great job of sharing everyday anecdotes about wine tasting and was happy to share the story of their business. The wine was great as well! I noticed that someone had put in a review saying that Wargin's has closed. Only the Watsonville location has closed (due to the burgeoning cannabis market, but that's another story)... Wargin's Winery is still alive and kicking! The wines are wonderful, the people are friendly and knowledgeable and it's a very welcoming space. If you haven't been there, you should try it. If you're one of the die hard band of merry imbibers, we'll see you there! read more

We visited Wargin Wines yesterday and loved meeting the owner, learning about his wine story, and enjoying an outdoor tasting! He provided a safe "touch-less tasting" where he pre-poured all of the wines for us to add to our own glasses. We each tasted 6 wines and a loved a few of the reds! Our favorite local winery! Not only is the wine delicious, but the owners are so knowledgeable about all the wines they make. They have a wonderful outside patio with umbrellas, but also an inside area for rainy days. We love stopping by for tastings and also for glasses of wine. Michael was personable, knowledgeable and really made sure we all had the best time possible. Im currently at home drinking my very last bottle of big & beautiful. My husband and I have been wine members here for over a year. We love these wines. They are mostly Italian based varietals and pair beautifully with food. The owner is usually working and does the pourings/tastings. She is very sweet and gives generous pours. read more

Certainly don't want to miss this one..... Wargin wines are focused on Italian varietals but not exclusively. Sangiovese, Barberra, & Montepulciano are staples of the house along with their Big and Beautiful Cuvee. Addittionally you might see some more familar varietals like Pinot Noir and Petit Syrah as well. There wines are excellent with great focus on terrior and vintage. The variations really shine through. These wines are all great QPR (Quality Price Ratio) Always have great experiences here. The winemaker Mikael is very friendly, knowledgeable and approachable. This is a big plus compared to some larger wineries or even some smaller ones where the owners/winemakers are lacking in social skills. The have a number of food focused tasting and education events which I have really enjoyed. Even have two tasting rooms to choose from. Soquel and Watonsville. Currently one of the lesser known local wineries but still one of the best. read more

I love their bold taste and friendly hospitality! I'm a member here and at a few other wineries. However, this winery is seriously my favorite one to go to in my neck of the woods. I love the owners and all their staff. I feel so welcomed and at home when I come in. I also value that the owner is not only an owner, but is an artful winemaker, founder, and sommelier. I always recommend this place to all my friends in town and to those passing by. They also have a tasting room in Watsonville that I have yet to visit. read more
