This was a lovely meal. Service was excellent and the wine selection was very good (obviously heavily French). We ordered the cheese plate, which was just okay. The bread was served in a large hunk - it was odd and somewhat difficult to share. The apple jam also did not pair terribly well. The salami was not the best quality. For our main we ordered the cassoulet. This was excellent. This came with chicken instead of the traditional duck, but was still very flavorful. Dessert was a somewhat forgettable ice cream puff. I wouldn't order this again. The ice cream was grainy and the puff pastry was very dry. All in all a good date night spot. Ambience is very intimate and we could hear each other talk - sometimes hard to come by. Food isn't the highest quality, but the entree was great and the wine paired well. read more

I love Le tour so I truly need to share that between 4:30 till 6ish you can enjoy a delicious happy hour menu where many appetizers such as duck pate, a Caesar salad, olives, cheese plates, oysters and baguettes are all half off. You truly don't have to spend a fortune here to have a relaxing and delicious dining experience here. The ambiance is upscale without being stuffy or pretentious and everything I've ordered here has been delicious including a burger I had here a year ago. I'm not into alcohol but they do have an extensive cocktail and wine menu, a dinner and dessert menu and mouth watering appetizers. The staff here is attentive and welcoming. We were just looking to cool off, but the experience turned out to be much more memorable thanks to the amazing staff. To top it off, they surprised us with a special sorbet treat after learning we were celebrating our pregnancy announcement. It was such a thoughtful gesture and made our visit feel truly special. - Ok food, good service, good ambiance - Reservation made, but was not necessary at the early time - No rush to return, but dinner could be good We have had a few French brunches recently, and were excited to try one outside of the Milwaukee area, but this experience was not something we felt stood out. The staff was friendly and attentive when we got there at opening hours and was great to confirm our outdoor seating. The brunch options had some range but few options for each branch. For the first time, my main did not fill me up, and I wish I had gotten more. I had ordered the Spicy Shakshouka which was served with khobz bread. The eggs were poached well and the sauce provided a great flavor when eaten with the khobz. I found the sauce to be too watery and overwhelming for just 2 eggs and the crumbs of goat cheese. We found a problem with the ratios later on, but the 2 pieces of harissa for the 2 eggs also felt uneven, making the stars of the meal essentially the tomato sauce and bread. While good, the tomato base tasted more like an American tomato soup, rather than a spiced tomato sauce. I am not too well-versed in Shakshouka, but the experience for this meal was just ok. My girlfriend had gotten the Salmon Lox Bagel which was also a bit off with the ratios. Not much can be said about the flavor, as it all just looked like it was cut-up with nothing additional done to it. The DIY meal came with a large smear of cream cheese, pickled onions, six (6) cucumber slices, and 2 pieces of lox. The bagel itself was cut extremely uneven, and the 6 cucumber slices really had her rationing. On the other hand, there was a lot of cream cheese (even for me!). The assembly could have been fun, but it felt like if it came out assembled, the meal would have looked a bit microscopic. Overall, this meal did not live up to our expectations and I feel a lot of differences can be made to improve our choices. While the food was not our top rating, the staff was friendly and accommodating, but did feel slow despite there not being many people there. I can imagine a few of their other options and dinner menu can provide a better experience, but until then, we are not in a rush to return. read more

Le Tour was a great place for my wife and I to have an early New Year's Eve dinner. Prompt service, quiet music so we could hear each other talk, and the food -- excellent. Among the hits: A large portion of crispy brussels sprouts and melt-in-your-mouth scallops. While not cheap it was not too pricey, a good value. I really wanted to love this place and in some ways I did. Everyone involved with the service team was spot on especially our server, Joe. He was personable and knowledgable. The food, however, was hit or miss. The muscle appetiser was flavourful and a nice portion but the white bean spread was lacking flavor as though they even forgot the salt. Mains were mixed. I spent time in Morocco and fell love with tagine. LeTour's was decent but lacked the rich, moist flavors if the real thing. My wife had the salmon which was good but a bit overdone and a friend had the steak/frites did not complain. Deserts and drinks were great 6 stars for them. This is such a cool spot located in downtown Evanston in the old Chase Bank building. They have plenty of space inside with beautiful modern decor and also an outdoor patio. We made reservations but they had plenty of seating especially indoors. This was the first time we tried LeTour and enjoyed it. We ordered a drink and the waiter was really honest about what was good, which was really appreciated. He steered us away from a drink and recommended some specific ones. We decided to start with the Ruby Red Beets appetizer and Wow!! That goat cheese was amazing- all the flavors complimented so well. My only feedback would be more hazelnuts on top!! We had a light sprinkle and I could have used triple that amount to have a crunch in every bite. For entrees we ordered the trout meuniere and the steak/frites. The fish was outstanding- it had great flavor from the brown butter sauce and capers. The asparagus was the perfect pairing! I liked the fish better than the steak. The steak was just okay- I should have asked what cut of meat it was before I ordered but because I like mine more done it was tough. I know certain cuts can do this when you cook it longer. The fries were crispy and flavorful. The ketchup has a strong vinegar taste, which I liked! We didn't try dessert because the person I was with was avoiding sugar. I would come back! I came here for lunch on 6/12/23 with my family and my sister's friend's family. We arrived straight after the Northwestern all-schools ceremony and it was full of families celebrating their grads - very warm environment! The restaurant usually isn't open on Mondays but likely offered the slot due to commencement. Our server was patient as we waited for the full party to arrive, and was even more helpful as two of us had to leave early for the airport. Our dishes arrived with enough time for myself and my dad to finish our plates without feeling too rushed. They gave everyone a free shot of prosecco which was awesome. The bread was also delicious. I ordered a chicken dish with polenta and broccoli and it was pretty good. I'm not the biggest fan of the mustard taste, so the bread dip and the sauce for my chicken didn't feel life changing to me. Le tour was one of the restaurants that are listed as top ten for French food within Illinois. We went recently to try their items out and I would say they are okay. There was no major wow factor in my option. Their appetizers are very lacking size wise. The liver appetizer had only a tiny bit of bread to go with. I feel if they gave more bread or sliced it so it's more convenient to share it would be better. The service overall was good. I feel that she was attentive and because they ordered through a machine it allowed her to tell us in real time what was left of each dish. The ambiance is pretty good. We sat indoors so it was a tad dark and hard to see. I think it's a romantic spot if you are looking for a darker restaurant with candle light. read more

I think there was only one server for 6 tables, so maybe the owner needs to put more ppl on or something but- With the handheld POS I'm confused on why items were forgotten- it took 20 mins for a bottle of wine and a soda water wasn't delivered until I asked for it again. The apps and entrees were ordered at the same time but once we finished the apps it was another 25 mins until the entrees. Thinking the waitress didn't send the ticket in....? Finally, the waitress forgot to cash me out. She took my card for the bill and never brought it back- until I flagged her down. She had to ask me if she had cashed me out. She didn't know. As for the food- the duck mousse was good, the 3 cheese app was a joke, decent but the portion size was abysmal, the mussels were good (though telling me I should order the baguette to dip in the broth while it's served with a hunk! of bread.....rude). First timer at LeTour., I Tried the Brothy Banger Mussels for dinner. Delicious and abundant. Our waitress (C.C.) was wonderful and very helpful in deciding what to choose. I was a little concerned, since the mussels mentioned a spicy harissa broth, and C.C. told me they could customize the spice to my taste since "spicy" can sometimes be overwhelming... I was grateful. I started with the LeTour Gin and Tonic. Not a traditional G&T, using two different gins, with a sprig of rosemary, and a bunch of pink peppercorns, in a large wine glass. Very pretty, and very refreshing. The "traditional" in me really wanted to find a reason to dislike it, but the actual me wanted to order a second one. My dinner partners had the Chicken Paillard and the Steak Frites. Both were quickly consumed along with their non-alcoholic "Provence in a glass", and "ma petite". We sat in a nicely decorated corner of the restaurant and people-watched while we dined, never feeling rushed, while we were well taken-care-of by C.C. We will definitely be back. read more

We were a party of 6 and they put us at a table which was in between the bar walkway, kitchen walkway, and front entrance walkway. I hate when I am at a restaurant and people are constantly walking behind you with barely any room to spare. Our service lacked because the water boy served us all waters and spilled. We did not tell him this right away thinking he will notice it and clean it up. NOPE! He left and we had to call someone else over to pick up all the water. How unprofessional and what lack of sense! Our food we rated at a 6/10 overall. My salmon was great the sauce of the salad was too salty. The oysters were great actually. Not too fishy, nor sandy, and very clean!! For dessert we waited about 20 mins before the waiter even told us that they were out of something that someone else had ordered at our table. Ummm why??? We had somewhere to be and nothing was said before to even notify us right away to make an alternative choice. The waiter knew we had somewhere to be. He did make up for it by giving us free dessert to go although forgot disposable spoons so again we had to ask someone else to bring it on over for us. Service lacks of an abundance!!! I came back to LeTour this past Wednesday and had a phenomenal experience across the board. The drinks were great (wine Wednesday is half off all bottles of wine!), the appetizers are wonderful and not too filling or too shy with the portion size, the chicken was absolutely delicious. Dessert was also top tier-- which was my main complaint from last time I was here. The ambiance is modern and upscale but with personable service and fun music. Our server, Rintska, was exceptional and lively without being overbearing. She also very kindly gave us an exit drink to cap off our night. This place has made changes since it opened, and for anyone looking for an upscale dinner in Evanston I'd certainly recommend it. The restaurant is in a good location and has nice ambience - especially in the summer. I was actually quite excited to go there as I had walked by this restaurant many times over the last few months. Staff was friendly an attentive, but our previously friendly waiter disappeared after we mentioned that we were not too excited about some of our food. The oyster we ordered were tiny, and my chicken dish was just okay - mostly due to how the chicken breast was prepared (I did skip the bacon which was apparently a mistake). My daughter asked for chicken on the Caesar salad, and was really put off by the blanched chicken (grilled would have been better) where she had to peel the skin off. To be fair, the salad didn't come with chicken and it was a custom order, but I would have expected the waiter to recommend against it. The third entree was quite good, a salmon dish. My daughter didn't finish the chicken and we skipped dessert due to mediocre dinner experience. Given the high price tag I would have expected them to be more forthcoming and at the very least not charge for the chicken on the salad, but this was not the case. A $150 bill for 2 teenagers and a parent (one cocktail without dessert) seemed too high. Overall I didn't have good vibes and we left very disappointed. Maybe it was just bad luck, but I won't be dining there again - there are better and more affordable restaurants in the area. read more

Went with my mom for my birthday and had a wonderful time. I've been to a number of restaurants in this space over the years and I'm always interested in seeing how they make it less, I don't know, circle-y. The interior here is broken up into cozy rooms. It's intimate, it's lovely. I believe we both started with a Deb's Darling cocktail. It's so fruity, effervescent, and just sweet enough, kind of a preview of spring in the winter. They brought a lovely, warm baguette to the table for us. The crust shattered at our touch, just as it should, while inside, it was light, just wonderful! We started with some PEI oysters and the Burgundy snails. Both wonderful. Oysters are hard for me to resist! The snails could make a nice meal for someone dining alone, served on a luxurious bed of creamy whipped potatoes. For mains, the monkfish was a non-negotiable, and it truly delivered. Can we get rid of this "poor man's lobster" reputation? Le Tour proves this fish can stand--swim?--on its own. Served on a creamy bed of lentils, this dish was a stunner. It was gnaw-the-bone good. Our other main dish was the lamb couscous. I really wanted to explore the Moroccan influence on the menu. I thought it was unusual, and was excited to try this dish. It was really delicious. The final touch was, for my birthday, the server brought out a sparkler and little sips of champagne. I'd had such a nice day, and that was just so sweet. I actually quite enjoyed the food. The reviews appear mixed but i felt the food was great! The bread was warm and soft and tasted great. I did slightly wish it was served sliced on a plate, but that's honestly not an issue, just for sake of convenience and ease. The mussels weren't over cooked which is rare sometimes at restaurants that serve mussels. The toasted bread served with the mussels was a bit harder than I'd like. The thinner sliced pieces were fine and soaked up the sauce, but the big chunk of hard bread was almost impossible to eat without making your hands a crumby mess. The monkfish was good and the risotto was unique with a slightly grainy texture due to the lentils. We also had mocktails which we were glad they served as I try to avoid alcohol. They were pretty pricy for the amount they give, but they were absolutely delicious. The water cups were a surprise to me. They were small and shallow, so we kept having to refill our cups. Cute novelty, slightly inconvenient. The interior was decorated beautifully and the tables were nice. I really enjoyed just looking around at the various paintings along the walls. Our specific table for two had chairs facing the same direction at the table, meaning we sat next to each other instead of across. That felt very French terrace dining-esque. Looks very cool on the outside! My husband told me it used to be a Lyfe Kitchen. We were so hungry when we got in because we had been saving our stomachs all day for date night! We got the cheeseburger which tasted like French onion soup in burger form, and we also got the Tagine of chicken - delicious! For apps we got the Camembert (INCREDIBLE) and the lyonnaise salad. For dessert we got the meringue - also amazing. There are so many good options on the menu, it was hard to pick. Discovered LeTour by accident on OpenTable as I was looking for a place to have dinner with the cuz and cuzzette of The Doctor's, who live in Evanston. What an absolute lovely and amazing surprise! The restaurant has only been open for a short time, but I wou9ld say for the most part, they are most definitely on the right track to becoming a successful establishment. The restaurant is housed in the old Bank One Bldg, so the dining experience is in a round building with multiple room, giving a feel of being open and intimate at the same time. The décor is very whimsical, with a cherry blossom tree in the middle of the main room. There is a lovely mirror display as you walk in and the bar looks inviting. The waitstaff was amazing, with impeccable service. Upon arrival, we were seated at a table next to the kitchen and my cuzette was not having it. We asked for another table and were told that it would be 30 minutes to get one. Our server, Anna I believe (lovely red hair) brought us over complimentary samples of a lovely sparkling rose, which I got with dinner. She was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. But before we could place a order, a lovely gentleman came over, apologized and promptly told us that there would be another table ready for us, which it was within minutes. It was not in Anna's section, but our next server (Natalie) was just as nice. The menu does not disappoint and offers something for everyone. The menu is French-Moroccan. Natalie explained to us that "Chef" likes for people to order all of their savory dishes at one time and that they would be plated accordingly. We started out with a large loaf of warm bread with grainy mustard and butter. Bread was hot and delis. Next we had the Burgundy Snails (whipped potatoes, bacon, and persillade) and the Duck Liver Mousse (Medjool date jam, toasted country bread). These two dishes alone will get me back to this joint, they were amazing! The blending of mashed potatoes, bacon, and persillade was sublime! Never in my wildest dreams had I have thought of mixing those together but my soul left my body when I ate that dish! The mousse with the date jam was also amazing. Side note, this dish is deceiving in terms of how it is plated. When it first came out, we thought it was just a plate of bread and jam and were looking for the mousse, but Chef Debbie used the delicious mousse as a decorative swirl on the plate. What we thought was a pretty plate was actually the mousse spread across te plate with the bread and jam. Dinner consisted of Paillard of Chicken (Tomato confit, old fashioned mustard sauce, oven roasted broccoli, polenta), LeTour Smashburger (Double smash burger, raclette cheese, crispy onions), Brothy Banger Mussels (Spicy, red harissa broth with white wine-butter) and Tagine of Chicken (Braised chicken, green olives, apricot, preserved lemon, couscous)....there were no doggy bags. Yeah so sue me, I got a burger at a French-Moroccan restaurant and I don't apologize as it was that good. Having it just gives me an excuse to go back to try additional dishes. No dessert as we were stuffed and honestly I don't see myself doing dessert as there are too many savory delights to try. Only issue was that our entrees seemed to take a little time to come out, but this was not a deal breaker for me. I am making the assumption that since this is a new place, they are still working out the kinks, but what came out was great. I came here for an anniversary dinner and knew nothing about it beforehand. I quickly learned the owner is the daughter of the owner of Morton's steakhouse and has a very good track record. The menu is French and Moroccan inspired which was a nice change from a typical steakhouse. To start, we got a fresh baguette delivered to the table with butter and stone ground mustard. Who would've thought bread and mustard is delicious!! Everyone at the table loved it! My Deb's Darling cocktail was also very good and our waiter brought some Prosecco to the table when he found out we were celebrating an anniversary. For appetizers, I tried the goat cheese and burgundy snails. This was my first time trying snails and they were surprisingly delicious, tender, and garlicky. The goat cheese was tangy and rich. I was excited to try another food for the first time for my entree - skate wing aka stingray. Unfortunately, our food took forever to come out. The waiter even said it was coming out soon and it still took a very long time after that to come out. I would not recommend coming here for a quick meal. We saw several other tables being served while we waited. When the food finally came, I thoroughly enjoyed my skate wing. It was reminiscent of a white fish with a bit of a different texture. Everyone else at the table seemed to enjoy their food. The smash burger appeared to look pretty basic and the tagine of chicken came out in a very cool serving piece. On to dessert, this is where things started to go downhill. We were expecting top notch desserts based on how much we liked everything else we had eaten, but we were disappointed. The mille feuille was not as flaky as I'd expect and we didn't love the flavor of the vanilla cream. I was told the pavlova was too hard. Overall, I really enjoyed this dinner and think this restaurant is a great option for a special occasion. We have been coming here since they opened. Unfortunately our most recent visit ( 6-28 ) was a let down. I was looking forward to the EXCEPTIONAL salade niçoise that I had a few times last year. They changed the fresh seared tuna to "conserved" tuna which was dry & tasteless. ( We have better flavored canned tuna at home). Also, the lettuce was mostly frisée ( curly endive ) which was also tasteless . Last year there was a better combination of lettuces that were very flavorful. Dinner reservations for the terrace: When I called to reserve an outside table for 6-21 I was told they don't take reservations for the terrace. (We went elsewhere to dine outside). I booked online for 6-28 and when we got there were told all the tables were already reserved. When asked how was that possible since outside reservations are not taken I was told they in fact do take reservations for the terrace. We were seated at a table for 6 outside of the canopy which was ok as we just wanted to be outside. With the mixed messages still not sure if they take reservations for the terrace , online or otherwise. Please bring back the original salade niçoise from last year ! read more

We came to LeTour to celebrate a family member's birthday. It was a lovely evening so we sat out on the patio and enjoyed the mild weather and a fine meal. We were each treated to a glass of cava to begin. We then moved on to cocktails with our appetizers -- duck mousse, the squash soup, and mussels. All were well-prepared and tasty. For our entrees we had scallops scampi bucatini, chicken vesuvio, and tangine of chicken. With our entrees we had a bottle of the vouvray brut. After dinner we had two orders of dark chocolate mousse with drunken cherries. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. We especially liked that our waiter was funny and very helpful. Some restaurants tell you that you have 90 minutes at your table and then you need to vacate, but that was NOT the case at LeTour, which we greatly appreciated. Cost per person was about $100 excluding tip and tax. The quality of the meal was well worth it and we'll definitely return. read more

Easily one of my top 5 favorite restaurants of all time. Tried it for the first time tonight. Beautiful space, peaceful patio, delicious food and great service. Our server was Ben.. I had chicken paillard.. absolutely delicious, my boyfriend had a burger and said it's the best he's ever had. Chicken was so moist and flavorful. They easily accommodated my gluten allergy. Great job! We will be back! Great spot for date night, special occasion or meal with girlfriends. read more

LeTour - French Near Me - Evanston, Illinois

Mary was my server at a delightful dinner at LeTour tonight, and it reminded me of the last time I ate at LeTour's predecessor, Found, when Mary was also my server. I was on a first date with a guy from the apps. He rather loudly told Mary that it was our first date. When I later went to the bathroom, Mary made a point of approaching me to ask if the date was going ok and to make sure I felt comfortable. It was amazingly caring. Everyone on a first date should have someone like Mary watching out for them. Oh, and the food, service, and ambience was fantastic. A perfect place for a birthday dinner for my friend. read more
