The round trip price from the airport to our hotel was very reasonable. I had posted about my original experience prior to being picked up. Just wanted to add how spotless the rest of the trip was. Joyce met me at the baggage claim with my name on a sign as promised. (Keep in mind, my flight was an hour early -- How often does that happen?) She carried my luggage to the car, and offered me delicious ice chilled beverage. Her driving was on point as her attention to the road avoided an accident following a nut ball cutting her off. The highlight came when instead of dropping me straight off at the hotel, she gave me an abbreviated highlight tour of the city, pointing out the hot spots and extending a little history lesson. The top of my list for a short visit to New Orleans, my first, was to visit the Whitney Plantation. From its website, I called one of the recommended tour companies, Let's Just Ride. Joyce told me she couldn't accommodate my wife and me at either 10:30am Thursday or Friday. I checked with my wife, who was here for an academic conference, and she said I should go alone, since couldn't get away long enough on either day we had left in town. Not long thereafter, Joyce called me back and said she'd called a tour taxi friend who could take me at 10:30 Thursday for the same price. I'm pretty sure I told her that my wife wasn't able to go, but she didn't say anything about that making any difference. I went to the concierge at my hotel, the Hilton/St. Charles, to get her advice, and when I mentioned Let's Just Ride and the arrangements offered me, she suggested that I rent a car and drive myself, which would be cheaper than the $65 I was being quoted. But I decided to stick with what Joyce offered so I could relax and not have to drive in unfamiliar territory. Thursday, the driver arrived on time, and we had a pleasant drive to Whitney, where I was emotionally overwhelmed by the exhibit--especially the children statues in the church and the angel taking up the baby. I will certainly tell anyone I know who travels to NOLA not to miss the Whitney. After we arrived, Joyce called me and asked me to pay the driver cash or to pay on line to Let's Just Ride. She said his credit card access wasn't working. So I agreed to pay him cash when we returned to the hotel. We had a very quiet ride back to the City, as I was still trying to absorb all I had seen, heard, and felt. When we arrived back at the hotel, I gave the driver $65, as I believed I owed him, and he asked me to wait while he called Joyce, because she'd told him to collect $130. He put her on speakerphone, and I could hear her screaming. I asked him to hand me the phone, and I said hello. Then she started screaming at me that she never would have agreed to a 4-hour trip for $65. When I tried to respond, she ordered, "Please let me finish," and continued to go on and on defending herself and saying that I was trying to cheat her. She said she'd email me a receipt, but I still haven't received one. I gave up trying to have a civilized discussion with her and just handed the phone back to the driver, who looked at me helplessly. I said I had to go into the hotel to get more cash from the ATM. When I came out, I gave him $130 in cash and asked him for a written receipt, which he gave me, because I didn't trust Joyce any more. I'm not sorry I visited the Whitney, because it is something I will never forget, but I hope I can soon forget Joyce and Let's Just Ride, because that was the only unpleasant experience I had in New Orleans. I'm not looking for a refund. I wouldn't waste my time, but I made sure that someone at the Whitney knew of my terrible experience with that person, who represents one of the listed transportation options.For my part, I'll certainly make sure to tell this story to anyone traveling to New Orleans. read more

I requested a plantation tour online 6 days before the tour date. I received a confirmation number on an email that same night. I had no other communication with this company so I assumed everything was in order for our tour. Luckily I emailed them two days before the tour to ask about our pick up time and I was informed that the they would not be able to take us on the tour (no other explantation). I can certainly understand if they were unable to accommodate us on the tour, but it is extremely poor customer service not to inform us immediately so that we could make other arrangements. They don't appear to be very reliable and I would not recommend this company. read more

Was in New Orleans this past weekend for a bachelorette party and we needed to go 45 minutes outside of town for a swamp tour.
