Review #923 2025-101…read more Located Peninsula Shopping Center, Five Below is a specialty discount gift shop chain that prices most of its products between $1.00 - $5.00, with some exceptional finds $5+. My son goes to Cantonese school across the street, & one of the moms mentioned there's a cute graphic tee that's perfect for our growing Chinese momentum: You're All That & Dim Sum! The tees section was quite large with lots to choose from. I got the dim sum tee for my 8 YO son, & also saw another tee (Born To Game Forced To Work... LMAO) that perfectly describes his latest transgression from studying, though there's not much to study or homework for that matter in elementary school. There's also toys & games, beauty products, candies & snacks, books, etc. They're similar to other discount stores like Dollar Tree & Daiso, but on the higher price tier with more variety & trend-focused products for the younger set. Customer service is efficient & friendly. I only waited a few minutes with a handful of people ahead of me. Parking is plentiful in the shopping center based on its location & doesn't compete much for spaces with the anchor stores or restaurants. Five Below is a great alternative for the bargain shopper! And now that the holidays are here... check 'em out for gift giving ideas.

They do have a good amount of selection at this location. It could use a lot of organization as some of the shelves and displays are in disarray. Sometimes I don't see what I'm looking for, but there are times when I see some items here that I don't see at any other locations. Today, I didn't see what I needed. Overall, okay. Just the same ol stuff they restock every year. They just change up the series and colors. Mass produced materialistic junk for the landfill.

Mixt is in the same collective of shops as Jeffrey Scott Vintage, behind city hall/fire station…read more Free street parking or park in the big lot behind the row of stores. Phone number on the listing is incorrect, should be 310-880-4023. OK now GO HERE. You will love this shop! So much cool stuff to see! The owner, Judith, will tell you interesting stories about the origins of all the handmade, beautiful treasures. On Mixt business card: "A handcrafted, hand selected, oft time, whimsical collection of gifts, accessories, clothing, books & cards." Yep, that describes this delightful place, in which I spent at least an hour today. I was allowed to take a ton of photos, & pictures are worth a lotta words so I won't say too much more. Except.....peacocks were roaming the parking lot displaying brilliant plumage (it's mating season). And.....Malaga Cove is peacefully magical. I've said for years that Malaga Cove plaza area needs more retail shops & now we have them. You won't find nicer people than the owners of these shops & you'll have great fun looking at the unique products they offer. True story: On my way up the PV Hill this afternoon, I stopped in Jeffrey Scott Vintage to buy a couple of gifts. I wandered into Mixt, for the first time, on my way back to my car. I ended up chatting with Judith, exploring her shop, taking photos.....and completely forgot why I was headed up the hill in the first place. I was so enamored with everything in Mixt that I never could remember what I was supposed to do up on the hill. So I came back home. Either I've lost my mind completely, or these shops were such an adventure that my original destination no longer mattered. I suspect it's the latter. Fingers crossed....

Will be closing doors in FEB 2020. Now is the time to make one last visit! Closing sales are going…read moreon with EVERYTHING 50% off!

I am now officially an old lady. And not "old lady" like when I wore biker colors (true)....never…read moremind.... I'm an old lady cuz yesterday I went into Chico's. I didn't even check-in because I didn't want anyone to know. However, upon thinking it over, I don't give a rat's ass. I earned all my wrinkles from a lifetime of hard partying, dammit, & it was great. And I ain't done yet. Anyway, Chico's was the first store I passed when leaving the parking structure. Yesterday, Monday, it was packed with ladies. So I went in to see what was going on. A sale. Big sale. 30% off the stuff already reduced for end-of-season. I was immediately greeted by Daisy, to whom I confessed I'd never before stepped into any Chico's. She explained their method of sizes: 0, 1, 1.5, 2, etc. 1.5 is equivalent to 10-12, I think, can't remember. 1 is 8-10 (?). Turns out I'm a size 1, according to Chico's. I've never been a size one in my life, so that made my day. I found a pair of shorts *cough*size ONE*cough* hugely on sale, that fit perfectly. I tried on a couple other things in my own personalized dressing room. Yeah, they wrote "Joan" on a little chalkboard on my dressing room door. Wow. So now I was a size 1 & I had my own fitting room. Life is good. Service was GREAT. Nobody was pushy but definitely attentive. Friendly & professional. My super-cheap shorts were carefully wrapped in tissue & placed in a Chico's handle-bag adorned with a red ribbon. Did I mention I got into a conversation about art with a couple of the sales associates? Dang it, I had fun. Life is fun when you're a size ONE, bitches.

There is an unbelievably RUDE manager at this store. I believe she might be racist/prejudiced. I do…read morenot know her name, but she has jet black hair and jet black eyebrows. She made me feel very uncomfortable and I will be contacting Chicos headquarters. Here is what I witnessed: These two middle eastern women were shopping (I think they were speaking Farsi/Persian) and one was trying on clothes in the changing room. As she was trying on each article of clothing, she was placing them over the top of the changing room door. (Keep in mind, these changing rooms are extremely small). The manager frantically approached this customer and said "You can't just throw the clothes over the door! They'll get dusty!" Taken aback, the customer replied: "The store gets cleaned, doesn't it?" And the manager said "Not up there!!!" She then turned around and muttered to herself (very loudly): "NO ONE ELSE DOES THESE TYPES OF THINGS. NO ONE." I could see the two women were very uncomfortable after being scolded by the manager about this and did not linger in the store much longer. They did not they buy any of the many items they had tried on. I don't blame them one bit, because I left quickly after too. My housekeeper always cleans the top of my doors at my house. Does Chicos not have the same standards of cleanliness? The manager basically announced to the whole store that they do not. To embarrass and scold a customer for something so unimportant is NOT OK. If anything, the manager should be contacting the store's CLEANING TEAM and letting them know that the changing rooms are dusty and dirty. Gross! I know this manager is capable of being polite, as another customer came in and she greeted them VERY warmly, as though they were friends. She gave these other two middle eastern woman the cold shoulder, however, and did not attempt to help them in any customer-friendly way. I was extremely disturbed to witness this. I wish I had gone back there and told that saleswoman what a rude person she is. This incident felt xenophobic to me, as they were speaking a foreign language, and this woman never appeared friendly to them at any point during their visit. Very "mean girl" energy. I will be contacting Chicos headquarters about this and reporting this incident. I was bystander, but it made me feel incredibly icky. I regret not comforting those women. I will also never be shopping at this particular Chicos again.
