Return Style is a Very well organized small boutique. Very clean and very neat. The owner makes a concerted effort to stock items on trend with the season. The selections are mainly modest and aligned with the socioeconomic profile of the neighborhood. Those in search of vintage designer goods might be disappointed in the selection here. This is not the place for rare or upscale pieces. Further, the recent completion of new construction for low-income housing just a block away may reinforce the boutique's current merchandise focus, rather than elevate it. Not sure if it was a slow day or if the lady following my daughter & I around the store was nervous we were going to shoplift or something. My daughter & I love to visit thrift stores every so often just to see if we find any hidden gems. We had already visited 2 other stores and decided to try this one. Of course there wasn't anything for kids but my daughter doesn't mind at looking at stuff for me. She's also well aware of certain brands, which doesn't really matter but I felt we were being monitored closely. All for what? We walked out with nothing bc there wasn't much of a selection in there for me. Some of the things are priced very close to the original pricing and aren't exactly well maintained for the price. Although staff very nice this is not the consignment shop to bring high end designer items. They do not work in this category so have no knowledge of designer names or brands. I went about a year ago and they had no idea of the pieces I had. I tried again today to consign and again, little knowledge of most of the designers I brought in. I will go back to my trusted store up in Beverly Hills... just a hassle to get up there! They do have a lot of items in the mid-range from very well known big clothing companies. What stood out to me was how warm and friendly everyone was. I had fun chatting with the employees and even the customers. I'm an extrovert, so I enjoy this kind of camaraderie. If you're trying to make a bit more money definitely go some where else like Buffalo Exchange or something because they don't value chic, modern, youthful clothing. They cater older people, definitely in their late 30's and up. Like I literally went to Return Style first only got $5.20 because my clothes were too "youthful" , and then went to Buffalo Change in Melrose, in the same day. And got about $30+. read more

Honestly wish i could give no stars. Me & my boyfriend walked in and the girl at the cash register was sweet & helpful. Told us to go to the back of the store & someone would help us out & as soon as i went back there, one of the older women looked at us & automatically sighed like she was annoyed that we were there. She was so extremely rude and said my clothes were too worn out & had weird smells when some of them were worn once and majority with tags. She went through maybe 2 or 3 pieces and said she wasn't going through the rest and aren't buying today. Do NOT go here unless you're 40+ yrs old and white. I brought in 3 bags of clothes and they only took 5 pieces of clothing??? Haha wtf. Supposedly to them it was worth $50 so they gave me $15 in cash or $25 in store credit??? Great experience selling my clothing. I had a lot of stuff to sell so the owner Alicia recommended an appointment. I dropped off my items, came back an hour later and had a very informative and nice conversation with Alicia. There were several walk-in sellers that day but the store was well staffed and they were able to accommodate my appointment, the walk-in sellers and the customers. While I didn't stop to shop that day, the selection appeared to be impressive and well presented, especially the jewelry. I will definitely return to this business, both as a seller and a buyer. I stopped in here for a minute to check the place out, since I was right down the street. I found a couple of good things - an Ann Taylor skirt with the tags still on it for $12.60, a cute little D&G dress for $23.20 and a pair of sunglasses for $7.00. While I really liked the things I found, I really had to search for them. Not that I'm against that - any bargain hunter knows the value of digging for a treasure. What I'm really against however, is the attitude of the saleswomen here. There were three older and one very young female employee working here when we walked in. Two of them were gossiping loudly and in a derogatory way about men with a couple of female customers, which immediately gave me a really yucky vibe. To make matters worse, the next thing I overheard was the young salesgirl comiserating about her cheating ex-boyfriend, to which one of the customers replied "Just wait til you've gone through a few cheating husbands - they don't change as they get older". The young salesgirl looked around 17-ish to me, so I was HORRIFIED that this is the message adult women are sending to her. But at that point, since it was a customer who said it, I couldn't fault the store. I can fault the store for this: I overheard all of that as I stood by the dressing rooms with a bunch of things to try on, waiting for someone to come over to let me in. Since the store itself is not large, I could definitely be seen from any angle of the place. After waiting for several minutes, I interrupted yet another personal conversation (a female customer bragging to an employee about rudely blowing some guy off) at the register to ask if someone would let me in to the dressing room. The salesperson did break away from the customer to let me in. While I was in the dressing room, I overheard another saleswoman just outside my door, openly flirting with a man who was there with a woman who was shopping. Then when I went to pay, the woman who rang me up gave me THE most unfriendly look EVER. One has to imagine that for all this to go on within the 45 minute span of time that I was there on a random Saturday, that there is some energy about the place that attracts and condones this behavior. Perhaps I got the look of death from the cashier because she could smell my respect for the opposite sex. So basically, this is the perfect place to go if you have terrible boundaries, think men are awful, don't have any friends with whom you can talk about your personal life, and are interested in digging for bargains. read more

Grrrrrrrrr , I never thought i will be back here but here it goes... a horrible experienced as last time. I was looking for a rabbit sweater i seemed to have looked everywhere: goodwill, tj maxx and the list goes on, i was gonna give up until i remembered this thrift store crossed out from my "go stores" list , i thought they must have some angora sweaters considering they sell all these upscale things... Ok so im back at the store, i walked in, there was no customers there just the people that work there, one younger woman and two older ladies, they saw me and didnt bother to greet me, i mean i normally give a sh#t to greet people, but its still a nice touch, must stores i go to speacilly small boutiques/stores, people tend to be really courteous and overall friendly with their costumers, well NOT HERE. After digging in i found a nice garment, i saw the older woman talking with i guess a friend of hers, she didnt bother to say 'do you need help or anything', NO, she kept chatting with her friend until i asked her " would you mind if i try this on?" she turned around and said "sure, ill get someone to open the fitting room's door for you'" not in a nice manner either, sure i had just interrupted her chick chat. So did i get the sweater? No. I liked it but...they really pissed me off with their LACK OF COSTUMER APPRECIATION. So they didnt make me feel welcome here, but the exact opposite, employees with annoying arrogant attitute. And I love their personal attention and care for me as if I'm a VIP every time I walk in. Two thumbs way up! They screen the items they take in to the nth degree (I know, having taken some in myself - very impressive intake policy) and I have been happy with every purchase. I love this place!! Everyone is extremely attentive and fashion savvy. Whether I'm looking for something for a special event, or just shopping with girlfriends, I rarely walk out of there without some incredible find. If you like good music and a positive vibe when you're shopping, there is no better place than this hip little boutique. The clothing is high-end consignment: so they have to be picky. The owner knows her fashion and when choosing what to accept for consignment, she is matter-of-fact, but sincerely nice. Whenever I walk in there and she is working, she always makes it a point to say hello. The staff can be counted on to help put together a chic ensemble, or just offer assistance when needed. This has been one of my favorite stores to shop in for years! They have the nicest clothes, great brands, super unique items, great prices, and always in amazing condition. The staff are some of the loveliest ladies and they are so sweet and helpful with adding your items to a dressing room or holding them at checkout. Their items to seem to cater towards 30's and older, but in my 20's I still find tons of beautiful pieces. If you love Lululemon and Free People, they always have a large amount of both brands! I have consigned my own clothes multiple times here as well, and while they are very selective, I think their in-store credit is very fair, and they are always very kind and respectful about their no-thank-you's which I really appreciate. I visited Return Engagement for the first time yesterday and promptly fell in love with the store and it's amazing staff! The selection of clothing is both broad and deep, ranging from haute couture to hip and trendy, to fun and quirky. Everything has been well cared for and is presented in a way that you can shop the racks easily. The date-based pricing system is fair at all levels (WAAAY more than fair at the final markdown prices...like the mid-mod Fendi handbag for $99 that I am coveting) and the staff is fun, friendly and helpful. I picked up not one but TWO pairs of Donald J. Pliner shoes, one of them brand new (as in NEVER worn) for under $60 per pair! And if my wonderful friend hadn't been there to help me exercise some self-control, I would have blown my budget picking up all sorts of amazing treasures for my wardrobe. This store is a little more old fashioned and they had less things I would buy in comparison to Always Fabulous (around the corner). Plus their consignment policies are a lot more strict. As a warning: they don't really consign many dresses here, especially dressy dresses. They do however like denim, especially designer jeans. Call to check their consignment policies, they only consign on specific days, and they only take 8 (I think) items at a time. Items must be cleaned, pressed, hung, and bundled. read more

Customer service is lukewarm. Some days they aren't very friendly. Maybe just tired and don't feel like smiling. Anyhow, they only take current styles, no vintage clothing even if it is in great condition. I do best selling more mature pieces from well-known names. Also they don't take new haute couture suits. At least not from me. I even had atelier pieces direct from France, in amazing quality fabrics. Not China made. But they were not impressed. But I get it. Their client base is women over 60, so they need to cater to more "mall" basic taste. Chicos, White House Black Market, Ann Taylor is what works best here.
