One would think she could possibly look into things ahead of time. Got about three inches cut off the top, which I didn't ask for, to the tune of $70 total, including tip; not to mention I wasn't even informed there was a surcharge for paying with a credit card... no big deal but still should have been informed as I had cash. And if you want to have a conversation with someone childlike -- "I tot I taw a puttytat" -- be sure to see her. Holy cow, I felt like I was on another planet. Definitely will not be returning... oh, even with the apologies for a half-hour delay due to a man's short haircut... they couldn't have called me ahead of time? And God forbid they ever answer the phone, period; called up there two days, numerous times, before ever getting a response to begin with. What an embarrassing establishment overall.

I calmly tried to understand what happened so that the scheduling issue wouldn't happen again, but instead of having a simple conversation about it, I was met with defensiveness and eventually had the nail technician raise his voice at me. I have been a good customer. I make my appointments, I call rather than simply not showing up, I pay for my services, I tip, and I communicate respectfully. I should be able to ask a question about my appointment or the price of my service without being treated as though I am causing a problem. There was also confusion regarding my price. I was initially quoted $70. I asked for a breakdown because based on the prices I had previously paid and the additional services explained to me, I calculated $65. After asking for clarification, the final amount was in fact $65, which I paid. What was most disappointing was the overall change in treatment. My hands were handled much more aggressively than usual, communication was dismissive, and after all of that, I left with gel that is visibly lumpy and uneven on my nails. I don't expect perfection from any business. Mistakes happen. What I do expect is professionalism, respectful communication, accountability when something goes wrong, and quality work for the service I'm paying for. Unfortunately, that was not my experience today. I paid for my service, said thank you, and left. I won't be returning.

I've had facial redness for years now, and my dermatologist confirmed that it was sun damage. I didn't think there was anything that could be done about it, since the dermo kind of shrugged it (and my other concern of a raised bump on my nose) off. Fast forward a few months: a coworker had said something about a treatment that she had done to combat sun damage. My ears perked up and I asked her for more information. Long story short, she referred me to Sandra at Skincare Company Spa. I had my third IPL about 4 weeks ago, and I'm seeing legitimate improvements in my skin: so much cheek redness has already gone away. I never thought this was possible! I'm hoping that a fourth treatment can make a bigger dent in the cheek redness that I have. Some brown spots (that I thought were freckles!) lifted and my skin is smoother than it's ever been. Years of pox marks and cystic acne scars have also lessened. Sandra also targeted some keratosis the last time - AKA that strange bump on my nose that my dermatologist shrugged off as not being important enough to address. Sandra absolutely knows skin! She is thorough and knowledgeable about cultural/geographic implications of skin. On my 1st visit, I shared what I knew (that I was primarily Irish), but by the last/3rd visit, after I'd had two prior treatments, we discussed the specifics of my skin and how the characteristics of my skin indicated that there's more to it than just Irish. I pulled up my (updated) Ancestry, which I hadn't looked at in years, and my results aligned with what Sandra was saying. I learned so much from Sandra, which I love. Shappell was very thorough during the massage. ***however, upon reflection and discussion w a massage therapist friend on mine, I have concerns re consent in the following instances. 1. She told me that she would leave the room for me to undress but did not. 2. She told me to undress to my comfort level, which for me was top and bottom underwear. She then promoted me to remove my bra. 3. She used cupping without asking me before hand or instructing me as to why. Cupping obviously leaves marks on my back which I did not anticipate having following my appointment. This hasn't been a part of deep tissue massages I've had in the past at other places and this was the first time I'd ever have it done. 4. She took pictures of my back after the cupping which I did not consent to her taking. I would not have known she did this had she not shown me afterwards. I hope she has since deleted them. Shappell seems lovely and clearly is a gifted massage therapist. However, I feel very uncomfortable with these aspects and hope they are addressed for future clients.
