Amazing service! We got the back attack and added a head massage. This was one of my favorite massages of all times, namely because of all the added little details! The beds are warmed! They put warmers on your neck and your head. The scalp oil smells absolutely incredible! And the massage was great! I was perfectly ready for a nap afterwards. Virginia is the best. Especially for deep tissue massages. I came in barely able to move my neck due to the knots/tension in my neck, shoulder and upper arm. Virginia targeted these areas and really helped to release this tension. I was able to move my neck with almost full range by the time she was finished. Very grateful. I appreciate that the spa has taken COVID precautions to ensure everyone's safety. There is hand sanitizer at a table before you walk in. There is signage stating only 2 people allowed in the reception area. Several chairs have been removed from the waiting room. Everyone is masked. The receptionist is behind plexiglass and there is hand sanitizer for use there as well. I had the Spa Special MERMAID MARINE CASCADE FACIAL (see description below)with Sam and it was fabulous! As someone with sensitive skin, I am always caution about what products are used. Sam explained to me every product she was putting on (and there are a lot- red clay masks, serums, oat mists, etc. and the benefits of each in. Every product smelled wonderful. Best of all I didn't have any reactions or redness after the facial. My face felt smooth and moisturized. The scalp treatment is heavenly- I was so relaxed I dozed off! No staff pressure to purchase the products used but if you are interested in purchasing them, they are available in the waiting room. I received a gift card for Mother's Day for a massage at Brennan's massage and spa. I also booked a facial as I hadn't had one in years. The ambience at Brennan's is extremely relaxing and peaceful. They offer you water or tea when you come in. The first order of business was the facial. The girl who did my facial was amazing. She extracted a few nasty blackheads. She was extremely friendly while doing my facial. We did talk but it was fun banter -It was light and airy and not stressful at all. My massage was next. The woman who did my massage was amazing. She asked me where most of my stress was and I told her my neck and my lower back. She told me that she felt the extreme tension in my neck and in my back so she put heating pad on my neck and back in an effort to loosen the tension a bit. She then asked me if I liked light touch medium touch our heart touch and I told her I did not mind heart touch and I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that when she started working on my neck she successfully took those stressed-out muscles and made him normal again. It took her a while but when I got up the table I felt human again. My massage girl was not talkative at all which was deeply appreciated during the massage as I wanted to relax. Really lovely spa and staff. It's small and homey, I love the decor, there are a few unique items for sale up front. I had the blueberry facial and it was honestly the best facial I've ever had. The neck and arm massage while the potions did their work was superb. I had Sam and she had a very calming and sincere presence. Most impressive: at check out no one handed me a $$$ list of all the products I needed to buy for my skin care going forward. Said no Thursday was booked. My reception make a mistake. Now no openings until next week. The so called owner couldn't care less. My employees gave me a gift certificate so why should she care to please me . She got the money already. Typical so called business trying to screw the public. My hubby found this place, went in and asked about prenatal massages thinking about me. Then I saw the LivingSocial so I bought one figuring I'd get my prenatal massage. I was uber preggo & we live 40 mins away so I never made it. I did finally go a few days before it expired and it was soooooo good! So good I will drive the 40 mins again for more. So good I'm kicking myself for not doing the prenatal massage because it would have been relaxing. Brennan is in this adorable older house so the rooms are cozy. I sat on their porch swing feeling the rare summer breeze as I filled out their registration papers sipping the cool water they offered to me as I checked in. (I was warmly greeted and offered water or tea.) I am a frequent at getting massages. Most of the time they're decent. After my visit with Rachel here at Brennan I'm now hooked on great not just decent. I love deep tissue massages and she really dug in and relaxed all my new mommy with a toddler tension. Irena did the facial. I left with the most amazing soft glowing skin. I forgot I could glow like that! I also asked for an eyebrow wax and my brows really were well done. She took her time! In the interest of full disclosure I feel I need to mention my bias against getting massages at a spa. I don't really like the idea of paying a stranger to touch me. Don't get me wrong; I have no problem with strangers touching me, I just don't like to pay for it. The way I figure it the amount of massaging I'd need to combat the incessant and pervasive tension that defines my muscles would cost at least $2000 a month. Being totally honest with you, I just can't bring myself to spend that on massages when I could spend it on hookers and blow. I prefer to get my massages from non-strangers in my own home who don't require me to pay them after they've lulled me into drooling sleepiness. So! That being said, you can either keep reading and consider my review with the appropriate grain of salt, or you can stop reading and move on to the next review. I won't know either way. I needed to make a last minute appointment for an hour long deep tissue massage when the tension in my neck and face became too much to bear. I was going to be getting my nails done nearby, yelp search to the rescue, Brennan Massage & Spa here I come. Brennan is located in a charming old house on what looks like a charming little street in Brookfield. This is important to note as old houses tend to be drafty in the winter. And this is why they don't have 5 stars. It was so cold in there!! After a quick discussion about which muscles needed the most attention Deanna said "go ahead and undress to your level of comfort and lay face down on the table". UN-dress to my level of comfort?! In a sweater dress and tights I'd have been more comfortable putting more clothes on than taking any off. But, never one to pass up an opportunity to get naked, I did as I was told. Deanna went to have the heat turned up. She also cranked up the heat on the massage table heating pad. She did a great job. One of the better massages I've had. The pressure on my face and jaw was perfect. By the time my hour was up I was almost totally warm again. You'll find a lovely spa atmosphere with soft lighting, quiet music, and scented things lying about. Adding to the relaxing atmosphere was the lack of chatting from Deanna. It's not that I don't like to talk to people when I get spa services, it's just the voices in my head get jealous when I talk to other people. As an added bonus the price for the hour long massage was only $80. Not bad at all for a good massage. The room was so chilly that I quickly pulled my shoulders up to my ears when I got out from under the blanket to get dressed. If not for that I'd gladly give them that 5th star. I'm pretty sure I'll be back though. Maybe next time I'll bring a snuggie.... read more

I took a chance and got a full body and facial wax done here, I had spa wish gift certificates and this place was listed, and it's close to me. I like the intimate setting, the friendliness of the staff, and the waxing itself was great. They use lavender wax and another type for sensitive skin, which worked great for my sensitive skin. I was on the lookout for my biggest pet peeve of waxing: double dipping. The technician did not double dip the waxing sticks at all, which made me feel great that I was in a clean place. The heated pad under the table was a nice touch and kept me nice and comfortable during my wax. I prefer this type of quaint, intimate spa over a large spa any time. WHAT!?! A livingsocial spa deal in my neighborhood!?! Shut the front door. Well, to say the least both my sister and I purchased it. It was good for an hour facial and an hour massage. The building itself is a renovated old house with a wood porch and it is right up the street from the Brookfield stop on the Metra. Upon arrival we were greeted, given our paperwork, and offered tea or water. Once that was completed we were handed a quaint little bag with a robe and slippers so we didn't have to get dressed between services, which I think is a fine idea. Let me start by saying I'm a dolt. I had a business card with the names of both my esthetician and massage therapist on it and I've gone and misplaced it. Anyway, My first stop was for the facial. The rooms are small (again...renovated old house) but set up well. The woman that was working on me went over what it is I wanted to concentrate on, if I had any sensitivity, and she was also very complimentary of my skin (I choose to believe she said it because it is true, not just for the tip). The facial itself was very relaxing and I left feeling as if my face was back to it's former glory, which is exactly how I like it. Next up was the massage. The young man that was going to work out all my kinks was sure to check on my trouble spots, what kind of pressure I wanted, and if there was anything else I needed. They aren't kidding when they say deep tissue. Wowza did he get my neck moving again! He was very understanding when I asked him to ease up on the pressure on my sensitive areas. I'm a delicate flower. SHUT UP! I will say that since it is an old building and they have hardwood floors that they do creak. I didn't mind it as I grew up in a house with hardwood floors and the sound is normal to me. I do understand how that might be a turn-off for some people when they are trying to relax during a massage. I've been here twice - once for a couples massage and also for a deep tissue massage - both were good. They send coupons for $15 off for your birthday and they're valid for a whole year - that's fantastic. I found mine recently and had just so happened to have some pretty bad back pain this week so I scheduled an appointment. After the coupon, the 1-hour deep tissue was only $60 (before tip). *Cash tip only* I'm also on their mailing list and they send savings that way plus offer cute little events and mixers. Upon arrival, they offer you tea or water and have very relaxing music playing. I never thought I'd admit it, but I really liked the music. The woman that greets you is very friendly. As far as the experience, the couples massage didn't have as much pressure as I would have liked, but I now know to specify that this is how I prefer my massages. It was still great and they kept us comfortable the whole time. The deep tissue massage cured all that ailed me and was definitely deep and hit many pressure points. Overall good experiences. The only thing I'd love is either aloe or chamomile candles burning, that'd be a nice touch. This place is in walking distance or I probably wouldn't have even noticed it. Irena, who gives facials is knowledgeable about skin care and gives great advice on how to improve your skin in between appointments. I have also gotten hot stone massages here and have felt completely relaxed no matter who gave them. This is a great place to get gift certificates for people who live or work in the area. Somehow, I missed the deal they had earlier this year on Groupon (or was it livingsocial?), so I was thrilled to discover that they were offering a deal during SpaWeek. For $50, you get a massage and scalp treatment, so I figured, why not? My friend and I decided to make a spa/lunch day out of it. The historical home the spa is located in is beautiful. The waiting area is smaller than expected and isn't really meant as a relaxation spot. I guess I've been spoiled by my regular spa's serenity room and a designated locker/changing area. At Brennan Spa, you change in the room in which you are getting the service. They do not provide slippers or robes. Bummer. The receptionist, Chelsea, was very welcoming. She immediately offered something to drink while I filled out my intake form. My massage therapist was Colleen and I thought she was very good. She used very deep pressure, which is what I like and expect. I also appreciated the fact that she did not try to engage me in conversation once the massage started. I was confused by the scalp treatment part, though. I was under the assumption that the essential oil will be applied to the scalp in order to facilitate a scalp massage. No... the therapist heavily applied it to the hairline, placed a hot towel over it and that was pretty much it. I asked my friend if her experience was similar and she said that it was. I did appreciate the face massage though- it actually cleared up my sinuses. Unfortunately, it took several shampoo applications to get the oil out of my hair. Overall, I'm glad I went, because the massage I received was very good. I certainly would not pay full price for massage/scalp treatment combo, though. read more

This is a wonderful, pleasing place -- it's relaxing just to walk up the front steps and through the front door! The spa is in a sweet little vintage house that's been converted into a business, and it has loads of character (the floors are a LITTLE creaky, if you think that might bug you). If you want something a little more clinical, you may want to look elsewhere. However, it was right up my alley. Why haven't I written a review sooner? I've been coming here since I got a LivingSocial coupon from my boyfriend in 2010 and have been loving it ever since! It's quite a hike for me, but I make a point to go at least three to four times a year and at least once for a couple's massage with my sweetie for special events (Valentine's Day is a month away and we've already booked ours). Everyone is very friendly and sometimes a little chatty, but most of the time I don't mind and they're also very good at taking a hint if you're no longer interested in conversation. Others here have also mentioned that one massage room is right next to the lobby, which means you can hear every word going on - I was thrilled to find that they built more rooms upstairs so there are more options as to where you can get your service done. I actually just got a restoration facial there this past Saturday, which was very pleasant and relaxing. I also have a not-so-secret crush on one of the male masseuses - I say not-so-secret because I tipped him $30 on a $95 (1 and 1/2 hour long) massage. I was looking for a last-minute Valentine's Day gift for my fiance and I, and I came across their Valentine's couples massage special, complete with a 1-hour full body massage, champagne and chocolates. I discovered it a few days ahead of time, but they weren't open, so I called and left a voicemail and luckily, my call was returned that same day on a fluke that one of the employees stopped in and decided to return some calls. I had high hopes after reading so many positive reviews and I was very happy with the prices. Upon arrival, the place is quaint and homey, which I loved, and everyone is friendly. Overall, the massage was relaxing and I liked that I was asked if there were any particular areas I wanted my masseur to focus on (I said my lower back and shoulder area) and he definitely paid close attention to these areas during the massage. However, I have to give this place only three stars because I feel they need to work on a more effective and enjoyable way to incorporate any extras when they run specials like this. When we first arrived, we were given exactly two chocolates to eat as we sat in a waiting area and filled out a form (not very romantic). As we were waiting, a couple came out before us who had just had the same couple's massage special, and as they went to pay, they asked the woman at the front desk if they were going to receive their champagne and chocolate and she apologized for having forgotten all about it. My fiance and I thought we would be ok as we had at least received our chocolate already, and you'd think that would have tipped the woman (the same one who had been helping us) off to make sure she didn't forget ours too. However, our massage came and went and we were never offered champagne. We were going to ask as we left but at that point, we just didn't bother. They were only running this special for a limited time, so you'd think they'd be a little more on top of making sure customers get what they came for. As I said, I found the place to be quaint and affordable and we enjoyed our massage, but I'd recommend not taking advantage of any specials that include extras as you may not get them. I understand there is only a certain amount of time they can allot for appointments, but don't create a romantic couple's massage special and make your clients eat the chocolate in a waiting room while filling out a form, and forget the champagne altogether (and in the case of the couple before us, forgot the chocolates AND champagne). There has to be a better way to incorporate these added touches to make for a more enjoyable/memorable experience. read more
