Only reason for 4 stars is that parking in Westwood is an absolute nightmare- I wish the town would reserve the two spots out front for pharmacy customers only- you really have to go at odd hours to get a spot anywhere nearby. read more

I transferred my families prescriptions to Lewis Drugs because I am a proponent of supporting small business. With in the first month I was confronted by the owner/ pharmacist telling me that he would not fill my daughters seizure meds again because he wasn't making enough profit on them. He did this in front of other customers and I was greatly embarrassed so I just agreed. Being that they were around $995 I agreed to get them elsewhere. Well today was the straw... I went to pick up my sons ADHD meds when he again confronted me with the fact that he won't be able to continue to filling his medication at a loss. Once again I was embarrassed but this time there were no other patrons. I told him he was very inappropriate to discuss this with me, as he had negotiated the terms of his agreement with the insurance not me. He said well it's people like you who are going to put me out of business. I said I'll be taking mine else where. I called my insurance carrier to ask and they said he was paid $298 plus my copay of $40 but he's annoyed because I used a coupon for $10 from the manufacturer. Well Lewis Drugs I'm going to CVS... good luck because your customs service SUCKS! read more

Everyone who works there is very pleasant and helpful.Unless it is absolutely necessary, if you live in the area, don't go anywhere else! I was trying to find some hot/cold packs for a jaw/head wrap, something no store seemed to have. After a google search, Lewis Drugs popped up. I pass this place four times a week but never stopped. They have such a big selection and had the exact type of packs I needed and the correct size. They have great prices and there are also plenty of gifts to choose from as well; the general variety of items is really great. This is not your local pharmacy trying to help the local community. The owner and pharmacist withholds medication from sick patients which in my opinion gives him a false sense of empowerment. This is a shit pharmacy that has a funky smell when you walk in. Would not recommend even to my dog. read more

Waited 1 hour for prescription promised in 20 minutes at CVS in Westwood. Finally told they didn't carry it. After calling other local locations with no luck they tried Lewis Drugs. Not only did they carry it and accept my insurance it was ready when I arrived 10 minutes later. Elapsed time in store 3 minutes.Lesson learned. Support the little,local guy. Friendly, fast service and better hours than the chain pharmacies in the area. When there was an issue with a prescription my dentist wrote for me following oral surgery they called to fix it and quickly filled my script. They also carry a nice variety of Melissa & Doug toys that are competitively priced. My great grandparents use this pharmacy decades ago and I'm happy to see the local business is still open and doing well. read more

I refuse to go to any other pharmacy. I moved from the area (about 12 miles away) and I still return to Westwood for my medication. Lucille and Ken are fantastic as well as the rest of the staff and pharmacists. They are extremely diligent and can provide you will any inquiries you might have. Lewis Drugs is the best pharmacy ever. They never make me wait, they can always provide the supplies or services I need in a timely manner. Even if there are a lot people in the store, we all get the attention we need. They have been around as long as I have, and they have been nothing but a positive influence on my health, as well as everyone else I know who uses their services. The pharmacists are all very helpful. The people behind the counter, Jean, Michelle, Lucille are always friendly and even quite funny. They have a good sense of humor in that store, and that certainly counts for good customer service. They are a small business, that helps the community on a broad scale as well. They always post fliers for local community groups and dog rescues. Good, kind people. A rarity in this day and age. And they are dog friendly. read more

This review is long overdue, but I would like to add my 5 star thoughts to those who have talked about the helpfulness of the pharmacist and his wife when I encountered a number of problems when trying to fill a prescription for my mother. After calling the prescription into a local pharmacy, I was told that the prescription was going to cost thousands of dollars--that was if I was even able to find a pharmacy that carried the medication. (It was a very strong antibiotic.) After calling a number of local pharmacies, I did find one that sold it at a per pill cost of over $450 dollars, but they wouldn't have it until the next day. It was a Friday late afternoon, I was having trouble reaching the doctor, and...you get the picture. I was nearly frantic, as my mother had just been released from the hospital, and she needed this medication and not the next day. To make a long story tolerable, I ended up at Lewis Drugs where the pharmacist was able to reach the doctor, discuss alternatives to this medication and within a hours I had the new medication and was home with my mother. I can't stress how helpful it was to feel as if someone was listening and was invested in helping me get to the bottom of the problem I was experiencing. They stayed open until I was able to return to pick up the medication so that my mother would not miss a single dose. It was beyond comforting to have people invested in me and my problem going the extra mile (as they say) to resolve my problem. The situation was already stressful--a sick parent, a long hospital stay...I was so appreciative that the people at Lewis Drugs did everything in their power to make a bad situation so much better! read more

I've suffered from chronic pain for 7 years, and had 3 major surgeries to try and correct the underlying problems. As if living with chronic pain wasn't bad enough, the pharmacist/owner, Ken, treated me with contempt and suspicion from the first time I went there. Each month, he would search for any reason to send me away without my medication. On 5 different occasions, I was told my prescription could not be filled because the doctor didn't "dot an i" or "cross a t" on the on the prescription form. I asked if he could call the doctor and make the correction. He said it was against the law for him to make any changes to a schedule II prescription, so I had to go back to the doctor and get another form. Turns out that's BS. The only things that can't be changed on a schedule II prescription are the doctor's signature, the patient's name and the drug. A pharmacist can change anything else with permission from the doctor. On another occasion he refused, telling me the prescription was "suspicious" because it looked like it had been filled out with two different pens. That's because the doctor's nurse wrote out the prescription and he signed it. It's a common practice for many doctors. The list of other crap I was handed each month goes on and on. Need an early refill because of travel plans? Forget it. You're expected to plan your life around when your medicine runs out. Want to come in on the 27th or 28th day for a 30 day Rx? Forget that too. Only on the 30th day, I was told, because the law requires that too. More BS. Last fall, the state of NJ began requiring the use of new kind of prescription form. My September prescription was written on one of the old forms. I was turned away again. Later I checked and the old forms were good until November. I could go on, but I think you get the point. There is no excuse for this kind of behavior. I understand the need to be cautious when dispensing schedule II medications, but if he had any doubts about my need for it, he had ample opportunities to check it out with my doctor. As for his claims about the law, either he's misinformed or just a liar. I suspect the latter. Either way, he is a condescending jerk. So if you have a chronic condition that requires you to get your medication filled every month, do yourself a favor and do as I did. Go someplace else. read more
