The space for the service was disappointingly small and overflow was in a next door room with TV monitors. When we began making arrangements with the funeral director, he ran through options very fast with us, and seemed annoyed that we needed some time to discuss among ourselves. His coworker or assistant was equally cold and dismissive of us with any questions we had. It was embarrassing and disappointing to hear from several people attending the service, or calling in, that they dealt with rudeness from this establishment. These are situations that require compassion, patience, and care, none of which was demonstrated by the staff. They are the experts, not the customers, and the customers should be treated patiently, as they navigate an unfamiliar and emotional process. Instead, we felt like school children being scolded. It was awful. The only positive was that the female that works there, did an amazing job with making our loved one look natural. Unfortunately, when I thanked and complimented her, I was met with barely a response back. I would never use this place again.

We chose Rakowski's because of the close ties to the community, and from the minute we walked in Andrew was professional and comforting. He led us through the decision-making process without any pressure and he made helpful suggestions when we didn't know what to do. His funeral home is lovely; a mixture of classic warmth and modern conveniences. Several of our guests commented that there were thoughtful touches that you wouldn't think of until you needed them. For example, there is a coffee bar area in the back, there is a comfortable chair tucked away if you need a moment alone, and there is a bluetooth speaker for playing your own music choices. Andrew stayed in close contact for when we had questions, and he competently handled every detail, even guiding our 25 car procession to through a huge traffic jam on I-95 to get us to the cemetery in Newtown on time. We are so grateful to Andrew for making such a difficult and emotional time go as smoothly as possible. My dad would definitely have been impressed.

Then when they get a promised delivery date there is no proactive follow up to ensure the delivery takes place. I was promised my mother's headstone would finally be installed on August 1, 2025. We purchased it in October 2024 yet as of August 17, 2025 there is no grave marker. There has never once been proactive communication or follow up from the this company. Basically my mother has been in an unmarked grave. I insisted months ago that they at least put a temporary grave marker on the stone took forever to get that also. Burying my mother was so absolutely expensive from this funeral home and this cemetery. They say one is separate from the other but clearly they work together since the funeral home took my check payable to them for my my mother's grave marker. I do not recommend this place at all for anyone and I am so disappointed my parents chose this place to be buried. I am now convinced they do not care about the dead. They do not care about our loved ones. If they did care, I would not be waiting 10 months for a headstone that I paid $6000 for and not once received proactive communication no nor have I seen any demonstrated effort to ensure that my mother is not in an unmarked grave! I told Will again what we needed & wanted and the price he gave this time was a bit higher, I reminded him of the price he had given me a few months earlier for the exact same services and Will honored the original price he had quoted. If you know anything about planning a funeral during this time then you know how extremely difficult it was getting things done. This was the first place to treat us with a little warmth. We got to come in and design our stone. We seen sample stones. It may not seem like much but considering we had to pick out his casket, flowers and burial spot from a book this was nice to be able to do. The ladies that assisted us were VERY accommodating and any time I needed help with questions they responded very quickly. We got a very nice and beautiful headstone. Hopefully, we will not have to use them any time soon. But will definitely bring our business here when that time comes.
