I have had visits with Dr Reagan Hanson for some issues and he is always wonderful and cordial with me. He has operated on some of my issues and I have done well with them. His nurses are very nice as well. read more

TLDR: Be warned that if you don't have their preferred insurance, you will be tossed aside for someone who does. There is not medical based triage. They are only able to getaway with this corruption because they are they only Orthopedic place around and are used by every medical practice. They have a monopoly. Go to up to Pullman instead. I normally don't write reviews, but Lewiston Orthopedics are so deeply unethical, I had to. I have connective tissue disorders, and recently torn a ligament in my elbow. The ligament that connects my bicep. As you can imagine, there is pain, swelling, and weakness in the arm and hand. A referral was sent and was handed to Dr. Boyea (and yes, I am saying exactly who to avoid), and after review, he told his receptionist to book the next appointment. The receptionist gives a date that is 3 months away. I tell her "okay", but ask her if the Dr is aware of my condition. She immediately says "yes!". I then asked her is she was sure "because 3 month means 3 additional months of damage, pain, and the inability to use my arm properly". She then decides to "ask" and call me back. That take several days. She calls and says "the doctor has reviewed your ultrasound and says pick the next available date". She now has a date that is even further out after not booking nor holding the first one. I again ask if the Dr has been made aware of my condition, and she says yes again. I then ask about why is she talking about a ultrasound review instead of a chart review? Because I have a hard time believing any descent doctor would dismiss a genetic disorder where this injury can lead to permanent injury and disabling (that was foresight as it has completely torn at this point and the bicep is bunched up toward my shoulder now). She gets quiet, then offers to place a note so he can review the right thing this time. I agree to this. More days go by and we speak again, she again say the Dr reviewed my chart and her notes and said "book the next appointment" again. The receptionist then tells me the next appointment is in late April 2025! It was currently Oct 2024. I express my dismay. Asking how am I supposed to work, or do much of anything that requires both hands or arms? What am I supposed to do when the other arm tears from compensating for the bad arm? What do I do when I lose the ability to use both arms? The receptionist says she understands, but unfortunately they are booked through. I then ask to see anyone else then, but Boyea (as I would never go to a Dr that would dismiss such a important factor and/or has no idea what the conditions are. This is asking for mismanagement which is already on display). She said that there was no one else who works on wrist. To which I pointed out, nothing is wrong with my wrist. He's a wrist specialist. I shouldn't be seeing him in the first place as the problem is with my elbow and bicep. She says "Oh, well, you can get another scan and another referral to see someone else". Which makes zero sense because I wasn't specifically referred to him in the first place. At this point I am so fed up with the excuses and ready to just wait, but then she hits me with the reason why I wrote this. She told me that "Molina (my insurance) only has so many appointment spots for their patients to book". I then confirmed what she said as I was blown away by what she didn't realize she just admitted to. I asked for everything to be noted word by word in my chart, so when my insurance has to pay a ridiculous amount of money for my disabled arm, they won't be able to deny me as I sought treatment within a reasonable amount of time. She then tried to confirm the appointment. I told her that they would not be able to pay me to see them. Lewiston Orthopedics does not triage their patients. They take the biggest paydays first instead. That's what she admitted too, and it went her head that she had done so. I called my insurance to ask if they had "slots". I have been trying to get into see doctor Hansen for me knee I have been his patient for years. I need my knee drained and a cortisone shot but I keep getting the run around and I don't know why. I've read the negative reviews about this practice, and frankly, it appears to me that the reviewers were in some alternate reality. My wife and I have BOTH had significant orthopaedic surgery done by several of Lewiston Orthopaedic's doctors, and have had nothing but exceptional medical care and professionalism from both staff and practitioners. Between us, we have had extensive experience with Drs. Hansen, Flock, and Boyea, and our results have been outstanding. My wife has had both knees and hips replaced, with extensive foot and hand surgery, due to arthritic problems. Without the surgeries and exceptional care by this facility, I believe she would have been wheelchair-bound long ago. As it is, in her seventies, she is active and vibrant and literally runs up and down stairs. I have had multiple hand and foot surgeries with Drs. Flock and Boyea, with excellent results. I had a major auto accident many years ago, and have slowly repaired, as best possible, the results of that accident over thirty-plus years, with the last surgery to repair my crushed foot just this October, 2018. Each surgery was performed by Drs. from this practice, and I am very satisfied with the results, beginning clear back with one of the founding Orthopaedic Clinic doctors, Dr. Thorson. By the way, I am a military veteran of Viet Nam, and have never had any indications that my service was disrespected at all by anyone in this practice. Here's a hint, in my personal opinion, based on my own and my wife's experiences: if you are not having or have not had a good experience working as a patient with these doctors and their respective staffs, then you haven't given it your best shot and allowed them to do the same. As a patient, I have responsibilities in my own care as well, and cannot blame doctors if I have not participated actively in my own healing. The first requirement to heal completely is to have the right attitude about doing so, and having realistic expectations for the results. 0 STARS This place is absolutely disgusting. I'm extremely shocked. Their staff is very unprofessional and seem to like to treat military veterans like crap. If you are a military veteran or care enough about the people who fight for our country, i suggest you go elsewhere and advise others to as well. It makes me sick that my family member has to go through so much just to get his hand fixed and because of this facility jogging him around for some time, he might just now have permanent damage. He's out of work as an over 2 decade vet and one of the doctors here wants to lie to his face, disrespect him, and cause him more troubles. He can't find work with out a working dominant hand!!! Dr.Flock was very knowledgeable and kind. I went to see him for an ankle issue. He was very attentive and listened to everything I had to say. He made me feel heard and came up with a plan for continued treatment. Very good experience! read more

This place is squared away. Prior to your first visit you can actually go online and complete the needed forms and the check in process was quick and boom your in and out of your appointment. Really impressive staff. I certainly don't want to be a regular ...lol. but if you need orthopedics come here. read more

My experience may not represent others but I was treated very well. I'm about to have my second total-hip replacement done. Dr. Beardsley did such a good job on my left hip, I'm just going ahead with him fixing my right one too. Enough of this pain and misery. I'm halfway to better. The staff are excellent in my opinion. It's easy to write a bad review when you're feeling bad, these fine people are about getting people to a better place health wise. read more

I came to this office in August with knee pain. After $500 of imaging fees and copays, Dr. Hansen failed to adequately explain my diagnosis or prescribed treatment. I then sat around waiting for insurance approval until December. After two denials and over ten phone calls, I finally found out that part of what Dr. Hansen wanted to do did not require prior authorization and could have been done at any point over the last four months. The office knew I wanted to schedule the procedure before the end of the year because I met my deductible in July. They led me to believe insurance denial was the only reason I wasn't receiving treatment. When their miscommunication was discovered, they refused to accept responsibility or even apologize. So now I'm out $500, still injured, don't really know what the injury is, what treatment was suggested, and if I pursue further treatment, their inefficiency is going to cost me an additional $350 via my deductible because no one at their office would just pick up the phone and talk to me. And when the office manager finally did, she couldn't even keep out of her voice her annoyance at having to talk to a justifiably frustrated customer.* This is the worst medical experience I have ever been subjected to. *The medical profession likes to pretend we're patients, not customers. We're CUSTOMERS. We're paying you for services and we deserve those services to be adequately rendered. read more

Wow! I just got to an appointment with Dr. Boyea, 5 minutes ago, and was told at the front desk that he could not offer me any further assistance for my thumb. I made the appointment 2 weeks ago! The office never bothered to call to let me know this. I took time off of work as I can't use my thumb for 2 days after. I am so shocked at their unprofessional actions... I saw Dr. Regan Hansen on 5/7/ 2013. I met Hansen and my symptoms were extreme pain on the outside of my knee & extended up to my hip. I had pain in the knee itself. Hansen did x-rays of the knee & the hip. Told me the hips were fine. Had an MRI and met Hansen for 2nd appt. 5/30/ DIAGNOSIS:1) RIGHT KNEE MEDICAL MENISCUS TEAR. 2) RIGHT HIP CHRONIC BURSITIS."" I recommend IT Band Lengthening as injections have "FAILED" and anti-inflammatories and stretching."" From 1st visit 5/7 to 2nd visit 7/30, Hansen states that injections, anti-inflamatories and physical therapy have failed; I recommend IT Band surgery. Hansen states he did a hip exam and stated that internal rotation on both hips was 0 and external rotation was only 3-4. Hansen abandoned me twice once at 6 weeks and later when I made an apt 9/17/2013. No follow-up appts even when Hansen took water off the knee and injected meds/pain into the knee, told me to get a cane for the limp. At the 6 week visit 9/17, 2013; Hansen abandoned me with no follow-up appointment and failed to investigate his surgeries. I had the same symptoms that I can in with. At 3 months 9/17/ I made the appt. w/Hansen. At this appointment Hansen took water off the knee and gave the only documented injection of Kenalog, decadron and Carbocain. Told me to get a cane for the limp and abandoned me a second time without a follow-up visit. I moved back to WA ST Nov. 1, 2013. as I knew I didn't want to see Hansen anymore. I was in extreme pain. I found a new primary care doctor and showed her the knee and the scar tissue from the IT Band surgery. This doctor did an x-ray of the knee that showed no arthritic, gave me a prescription for pain,and a referral to a specialist at the clinic. I saw two orthopedic surgeons and was diagnosed with re-occurring Meniscus tear and IT Band syndrome. Both surgeons told me that the standard of care for IT Band syndrome is PT. When I finally received the chart notes from Hansen I was stunned. Hansen stated from first visit 5/7/ "she has been treated at a clinic. She had x-rays done. X-rays: right and left hip demonstrates severe osterarthrosis with protrusio. This definitely shows softening of the bone.""" "Her hip exam demonstrates 0 degrees of internal rotation of either hip, external rotation is only 3 or 4 degree. Hansen's chart notes state that we are in agree with a "plan" to fix the torn meniscus, then "FIX BOTH HIPS AND THEN ADDRESS THE NEROPATHY IN MY BACK, IN THAT ORDER" When under investigation Hansen states that he never told me he would ADDRESS the back as that was out of his area of expertise, yet it was last on his list to ADDRESS. Hansen's clinic has a back surgeon/specialist that he could have referred me to; so what was stopping him? This IT band surgery was an unnecessary surgery and was done because Hansen withheld the standard of care from me. I have documentation from two orthopedic surgeons and a physical therapist that the hips have normal range of motion, there is nothing wrong with them. the limp was gone in four visit of PT. google IT band syndrome and see for yourself. I sent a complaint to Idaho Board of Medicine and you can forget that route as the ID BOM won't let you see a doctors response. I stated to WA ST Dept. of Health that Hansen falsified chart notes, abandoned a patient twice, failed to get informed consent as he withheld the standard of care from me. Hansen never had me sign a release of medical information for him, but yet he stated repeatedly to WA ST that it was obvious from my past medical history that the standard of care had failed. That he offered me PT before surgery, but I turned it down as it was obvious that I had FAILED TREATMENT. Yet no one involved in this investigation asked Hansen to provide documentation of this FAILED TREATMENT. Also not one person from Idaho BOM or WA ST DOH requested my medical records. I had no prior care of treatment for the IT band and in fact, I never even had a diagnoses from the clinic that the x-rays taken four months prior to visit with Hansen; as the x-rays of the knee and hips showed normal. Hansen's clinics website changed when I pointed out to Hansen that it stated IT band syndrome located on the outside of the knee & that the clinic would provide conservative care and treatment before surgery. The website now doesn't even mention IT band surgery nor anything about trying conservative care & treatment before surgery. Hansen is still doing this so called IT Band surgery as I called their outpatient clinic & asked if they did IT band surgery & was quickly told by the receptionist that "DR HANSEN" AT THE CLINIC DOES THOSE. I ASKED WHERE THE LOCATION OF THIS IT BAND SURGERY WAS & WAS TOLD MID THIGH. I ASKED IF IT WAS AN OPEN SURGERY OR ARTHROSCOPIC & WAS TOLD IT WAS AN OPEN SURGERY. email me jackieshomes@aol.com & I will send you all the documentation. I needed to see a dr. for knee pain. Hansen took x-rays of my knee and hip. Hansen told me the hip x-rays were fine. Did an MRI of the Knee. MRI showed a torn meniscus. Hansen said i also I had IT Band Syndrome. He wanted to do two separate surgeries, and I said can't you do it in one. The surgery for the it band was an open surgery mid thigh. I was in worse pain after these surgies. Hansen abandoned me @ 6 weeks. I made an appointment 6 weeks later as I was in extreme pain and had the same symptoms I can in with. Hansen at this appt. loaded up the knee with an injection, told me to get a cane for the limp and abandoned me a second time. This was the end of Sept I moved to WA ST 11/01.. I found a new doctor and she looked at the knee & IT band scar & sent me to an orthopedic surgeon. Saw 2 and Both surgeons told me what the standard of care was for IT Band syndrome and neither surgeon had ever performed this "it band surgery". When I finally after 4-5 requests received Hansen's chart notes I was stunned. 1st visit Hansen " states she was treated @ a clinic, she had x-rays done. For the hip x-ray & exam he states "R & L hip demonstrates severe osteroarthrosis w/protrusion." "This definitely shows softening of the bone". He stated he performed range of motion testing for the hips & they were 0 degrees internally and only 3-4 externally. 2nd visit he had stated that injections, anti-inflammatories and PT had failed; "I recommend IT Band surgery". His diagnoses: R) knee meniscus tear & R) hip chronic bursitis : Back home in WA I saw two orthopedic surgeons one the medical director and both told me what the standard of care was for IT Band syndrome and Chronic bursitis of the hip. It's physical therapy!! The med.dir was so disgusted he took the time to note 'open surgery mid thigh. But yet Hansen stated to the WA ST DOH that both surgeries were in the same area. Both surgeons states that there is nothing wrong with my hips. Normal range of motion and documented with range of motion from PT. When I finally was able to show my surgeon Hansen's x-rays he told me there was nothing to fix with my hips, there normal. The x-rays of the hips taken for 4 months prior to my visit with Hansen state they were normal also. Hansen plan in his chart notes were to fix the knee, then fix BOTH HIPS AND THEN ADDRESS THE NEUROPHATY IN MY BACK "IN THAT ORDER" CLAIMED HE DISCUSSED THIS TREATMENT PLAN WITH ME AND I WAS IN AGREEMENT!! I sent in a complaint to ID Board of Medicine and the WA ST DOH as the surgeries were performed at Tri-State Memorial Hospital. Do not waste your time with ID BOH as you will not be allowed to see a doctors response. WA ST will let you see the response. I was stunned when I read Hansen's response to WA ST DOH. Hansen's rational for doing this IT band surgery to ME, was in a letter when I questioned him about this un-nessacary IT Band Surgery. He stated that in his opinion the IT band surgery would make PT easier as that is what PT does over a longer period of time and rather than exhaust all PT blah blah. HIs rational to WA ST was that previous treatments had failed. That I had turned down PT before surgery as it had already failed WA ST refused to ask Hansen to document his false narrative to them. In fact WA ST asked him to respond to something that was not my complaint. WA ST stated that he failed to repair a torn meniscus and then asked him his "rational "for doing the IT band surgery. My complaint was that Hansen falsified chart notes, test results, x-ray results, failed to inform me of an alternative to surgery for the IT band. Abandoned me at 6 weeks when Regence was paying him for 90 days post-op, failed to investigate his own surgeries when he knew there were on going problems. Abandoned me at 3 months after taking water off the knee and loading it up with pain killer. Performed an nessacary IT band surgery. IT band surgery is performed with a small incision on the outside of the knee. Hansen stated to WA ST that the IT band surgery was done in the same area as his scoping of the knee. When I asked Hansen's lawyer for a copy of a signed release of medical information from me giving Hansen the authorization to obtain my records and any information he received from this 'non-existent" release. I was told if I wanted to know if it existed I would have to file a lawsuit!!. I have a legal tape recording from the clinic I was going to telling me that they had nothing from Dr Hansen asking for prior medical care and treatment nor did they send him any records. And yet WA ST refuses to ask Hansen for this documentation of past medical care, treatment and "failed conservative treatment for the IT band.
