Capable surgeon? Probably NOT! - Ethical doctor? Definitely NOT! If you are considering choosing Brian Zinsmeister , DPM or (Lexington Podiatry) as a surgeon (as opposed to a podiatrist who clips your nails), please read this review carefully! Please note: I have waited 8 months since the surgery to write this, as I wanted to let healing process a chance as well as my displeasure and resentment to cool down. I will start by saying that Dr. Zinsmeister passes as a very pleasant gentleman (while not very intelligent) with excellent bedside manners. He was patient before the surgery and explained things in detail. His office was efficient and wait time was always very reasonable. For some time I have suffered mild but persistent pain while hiking and On March 1st, 2019 Dr. Zinsmeister operated on my foot for the relatively simple procedure of Hammer Toe. Surgery was done in Emerson hospital and I have suffered some serious pain the days after, as was apparently expected (says Dr. Zinsmeister). Since then, everything went downhill. For weeks I had some infection (sutures says Dr. Zinsmeister) and continuous pains. I have seen the doctor a couple of times and he tried to explain and treat the unexpected pain and infections. Five months after the surgery, I still suffered very limited range of motion, numbness, constant pain and discomfort all around. 5 months after the surgery, I was unable to neither walk bare-feet nor wear sandals or regular shoes. In short, Dr. Zinsmeister took a patient who suffered intermittent moderate pain and made a cripple of me. At this stage I have emailed the doctor an email specifying this and asking what is to do about it? I was indeed displeased with the results and in serious constant pain! And now to his ethical code: His reply was to send me to another podiatrist, a friend of his who covers for him when he is not available, who sees patients an hour away from my home. I have answered that if he (Dr. Zinsmeister) is not capable to take care of me, I rather see a physician who is nearer to me and who will honestly review the procedure without the need to protect his friend in case there was some negligent treatment. The next I got is an angry email refusing to see me or treat me, and a couple of days later an envelope in the mail with my medical records. The envelope didn't include the original X-rays disc and after I have requested this, Dr. Zinsmeister answered it was lost (how convenient). Today, 8 months later, I still suffer pain, numbness (nerve damage?) and discomfort. There are multiple options out there, when you are looking for a podiatrist surgeon - my advice: LOOK ELSEWHERE! read more

The good: Staff and doctor are friendly. Doctor Zinsmeister is board certified, and appears to have experience. That said, office is like a time warp, a step back into the 1970s, as if the doctor is waiting it out until retirement. Phone system is a mess and the numbers posted are all outdated. The exit brochures you will get look about 30 years old. Simply put: It is a tired-looking office. Went in for an ingrown nail. He touched the pressure point with the nail was hurting the side, and I confirmed that was where the problem was. Then he proceeded to cut the opposite side! When he was done, he says, "Well, that's it!" I asked him why he did that side [I didn't know whether or not it was common practice to treat both sides of the nail]. Turns out took out the wrong side of the nail! Aftercare instructions are confusing. After 15 days, still having bleeding [because, per instructions, I was to keep it bandaged 24/7 so it wouldn't scab right away]. Reached out twice to clarify treatment regimen with no reply. Bottom line, I think I dodged a bullet and it will turn out fine in the end, but if I were to do it again, I would go elsewhere. VERY friendly and personable doctor, but I'm there to get the job done right, not make friends. Good luck. read more

Go Elsewhere. This doctor and his office staff are a joke. I made an appointment as a new patient. The first appointment was cancelled 30 minutes before I was to arrive. The doctor called in sick. I was handled very abruptly by their staff. No effort was made to reschedule me in a timely manner, and I had to wait 2 weeks for a second appointment. When that second appointment rolled around, I was called AGAIN while I was en route to the appointment to be told yet again that the doctor was "sick"! I spoke with a woman named Pat, and she was so unbeliveably rude that I was shocked. She told me to "Go find another doctor then" and "Having to deal with angry patients is no day at the beach for us either" and "What, do you think you're his only patient?" This woman should be fired. Bottom line, the doctor and his office staff are a complete joke. I can only imagine what would have happened had I actually HAD my appointment, with the level of all-around incompetence that I had to deal with. Go elsewhere!! read more

Not impressed and mis-diagnosed. Went in for a foot problem which Dr. Zinsmeister diagnosed as a bunionette. He then gave me a cortisone injection for what turned out to be a corn. Nice enough guy but didn't know what he was talking about. Only responded to one of two emails I sent which was pretty annoying. read more

Dr. Zinsmeister is wonderful! He fixed my foot and did a spectacular job. Super personable, gentle and intelligent. Highly recommend him. The ladies at the front desk are extremely kind and helpful too! read more

Dr Zinsmeister did surgery on both of my feet for bunions a few years ago. I was and still am very happy with his work, his office staff and the hospital he works out of, Emerson Hospital. My feet are so much better, my back is better as I am now walking properly and no longer have foot pain. I can honestly highly recommend Dr. Zinsmeister for any podiatry issue. read more

If I could do 6 stars, I would. Spent a great deal of time with me, explained many details that no other MD even started to. (He was a 3rd opinion) Wonderful demeanor, friendly, knowledgable, LISTENS. Seemed to think outside the box a bit and considered some factors that other MDs hadn't in trying to solve a complex foot issue. Staff was friendly and professional, very nice offices. He's pretty much what we all want in a doctor! read more

The Doctor is very friendly and caring. The staff is pretty nice also. They will try to squeeze you in if it is an emergency such as if you are in pain. The place is pretty busy so it might take a little bit to get an appointment but that is because he is very popular and comes with good recommendations from other doctors that I have heard. read more

Called in on Monday the 16th to see if I could get an appointment to see Dr. Zinsmeister concerning a couple of stupid accidents I did to both of my feet. They got me in on Friday the 20th. The lady on the phone was very friendly and professional. Everyone there treats you with courtesy if you do the same. Peggy O if she treated badly, and I doubt it, you must have started it. He is often difficult to get into because he is so good. It is a shame that a doctor got sick and could not see you and jump to your demands. read more

If you are looking for a review from someone who actually visited Lexington Podiatry, here it is! I struggled with a foot injury for months and visited several doctors with little progress during that time. Everything changed when I visited Dr. Zinsmeister. He instantly knew what the cause of my pain was and how to fix it. I was back to running within a week. I recommend Dr. Zinsmeister to anyone who has a nagging foot problem, he is the best! read more
