And as in previous seasons, Malibu Jack's is the host venue, and it's always a league favorite! The bowling lanes are top-notch as is the beer selection (Sweetwater 420 for me!). And we shared a piping hot Brooklyn Pizza as we bowled. The Sandbar and Grill that adjoins the bowling had quite a crowd on a Thursday night, with lots of customers enjoying beer pong and karaoke! Great venue choice for the new Lexington Sports and Social Club bowling league! Can't wait for next week! Bowling is always one of the most enjoyable and laid back sports that LSSC offers and when combined with Malibu Jack's, it's a combo that would impress Jeffrey Lebowski (as long as no one karaokes to the Eagles!).

For gymnastics, it seems that no seat is a bad one. The apparati are placed such that all seats have a clear vantage view of all the equipment. Even seats in a tucked-in corner have a decent view. I had one of those corner seats and was kicking myself for not buying the tickets earlier. Instead, I waited until the day before the event because I wanted to ensure that I could attend. Surprisingly, the seat was a good one anyway. Now that I know how easy it is to buy tickets and attend a meet. Plus, I realize that no seat is a bad one, I will try to attend more often.

If you are going there to an event, I suggest to get there early to find a decent parking spot. The home side of the bleachers has wooden seats with backs. The visiting side not so much, just a long bench seating with no backs. The AC in this facility does not exist. Instead they use 4 Big Ass Fans (not being dirty...that is the name of the company). So if you are going in the summer, dress appropriate. The lay out of the facility still makes sense to this day and the restrooms and concession stand are usually clean. Please note that most of the events you go to see here will have a ticket purchase required. The tickets can be bought a head of time or at the doors. It is to the left of the entrance. One lady was doing both sides (front where you get tickets and back where you get skate rentals) and so there was a little wait but it wasn't a big deal. So we are about halfway through the spring session and all I can say is...why didn't I do this sooner?! My team is more of an "A for Effort" team. We are here for fun and beer, and we have a lot of heart. But I cannot tell you how great of a time I am having! The beer is affordable, the courts are clean, the refs are on point. I have come in the past, before joining a team, to watch other friends play. I have enjoyed myself on both sides of the field there! I am excited for every game, and am looking forward to coming league sessions!

We reserved an outdoor volleyball court for a 2-hour block of time in the afternoon - the perfect amount of time for kids to play volleyball, have pizza and cake, unwrap presents, and take pictures! Making reservations was so painless, we booked the time, showed up 15 minutes early, were able to put some birthday streamers and balloons and set up a dessert and gift table. The afternoon ended up being so blistering hot, the girls complained the sand was unbearably hot and they were quickly getting sunburned. This was no problem for the manager, she kindly let us relocate to an indoor court which was a very comfortable temperature and a great looking facility. The girls had a blast, they loved playing in the sand. The staff was very accommodating, bringing freshly baked (surprisingly tasty!) pizzas and coolers of water and replenishing drinks, allowing the girls to use their iPods for music, and lowering the nets accordingly. They don't allow outside food except for cake, which was only a nice benefit for me. It was nice having the food prepared and brought on site. The total price for the party only amounted to $12 per kid, this included the pizza, playtime, and a complementary volleyball for the kids to all sign. My husband and I both agreed that this was a stellar deal. Quite honestly, this was the most fun, stress-free, and easy birthday party we have ever done. And, the manager was awesome, she was so accommodating and friendly and wanted to make sure everyone just had a really good time. My daughter has already said she wanted to celebrate her next birthday here again, and I am totally fine with that!

They have a huge parking lot - it's fairly hectic with families leaving and coming in so hold tight to little hands. 10 & under are free, kids above that are $2 and adults are $5. They have separate entrances for players and cheerleaders. Inside are multiple courts and a large concession for food and snacks. It's chaotic and confusing, but they do have an information desk that holds the schedules for the night's games. They must play 15-20 games on the same night! My son and I watched a game on court A, which is large and has lots of leg room. We then watched another on a smaller court and it wasn't nice seats but instead bleachers. Super tight space. Most people weren't masked but with this crowd I'd highly recommend it. Stay safe!

And the associated restaurant is convenient for fueling/recovery. Decent food options are the only things missing from my other volleyball spots. I bet this spot is hopping come the warmer months when the outdoor courts double the games able to be played. It is an option. Not my preferred one, but a good one.

The seating to watch games is not the best. If you don't like sitting on the hard stadium seats you might want to bring a folding chair however it is hard too see the field in the areas you can sit. They don't charge admission to see the games so you'll have extra money to go in and buy something from their concession stand. Reasonable prices. The problem I had was with the parking. There is limited parking in the main lot so you may have to park way up in the upper parking lot. Makes for a very long walk up hill.
