I went here for the first time after some work colleagues recommended Maria for blonde highlights. I brought pictures and stressed the fact I DID NOT want my hair yellow/golden blonde ( I personally do not wear it well and my colleagues have a gorgeous icy/silver that I thought she would be capable of doing on me as well ). I asked for ashy/silver blonde and left with 5 different color blondes in my hair, none of which matched what I asked for as a few pieces were even orange. PRIOR to even making my appointment, I told Maria my hair takes about 3 1/2 hours because I wanted to make sure the time allotted was adequate. My hair was done in two hours ( including cut and blowdry) and she even stated " next time we can go more silver/ashy". Pretty sure she knew the color was off immediately, but I personally can never tell with the salon lighting. That comment alone made me feel uneasy and I had a feeling it was going to be wrong. After looking in several different lightings and realizing how horrible my hair looked, I returned a few days later ( when my work schedule allowed) and Larry did a glaze for me. Unfortunately, but not to his surprise, the glaze did not help because the foil did not lift my hair where it needed to be to create the ashy blonde desired. I have been getting my hair highlighted since I am 13 years old and have had icy/silver before ( my base is also dirty blonde and warm so if done correctly, should be easily achieved by a professional). I called back to come in to get my hair re foiled as it was nowhere near what I asked for, but I think Larry already knew that. I was extremely embarrassed and unhappy with my hair and didn't even want to wear it down for the next several days . When I called back I was told I would need to pay for some of the service as "communication" was off the first time and it was going to be a lot of work. I was very direct and communicated several times that I DID NOT want my hair yellow/gold and provided photos prior to my first service. I am not sure how much clearer I could have possibly been. Communication on my end was NOT off and I felt like Larry was putting the blame on me for Maria's poor performance that day. To ask me to repay for what I already paid for is poor customer service in my opinion. It should have been done right the first time and none of us would have been in this situation, especially me. He saw my hair and knew it was nowhere near what I asked for so to place the blame on me was extremely uncalled for and his frustration was entirely misplaced. It was not my lack of communication that caused this outcome and I was very taken back and offended that it was portrayed in this way. After being totally disgusted by the outcome and then being told I had to pay for repairs, I cancelled that appointment. Not even ONE time did Maria reach out and apologize or try and make it right. It was all put on me to try and figure it out if I WANTED it fixed. You have to be kidding me! This is not how my situation should have been handled and quite honestly the salon should be ashamed of themselves for handling it in this manner. That's bad business. Her statement alone showed she knew the color was off after she blew my hair out, so accountability for her mistake would have been much appreciated. I felt my situation wasn't handled correctly at all as I was very open and honest about what I wanted. If Maria needed clarification, which I find hard to believe, then she should have asked. Although I wasn't charged for my glaze, I did leave a tip on the counter for Larry and the shampoo girl ( sorry I forgot her name) because I felt that was the right thing to do. However, the right thing for them to do for ME would have been to refoil my hair, FREE OF ANY CHARGES, if that's what was needed to achieve the DESIRED OUTCOME. My hair has never taken two hours to complete so I should have known something was wrong then. I believe the photos speak for themself so do with it what you will. The salon is adorable and the cut and blow out were nice, but the color is embarrassing and their approach to make it right was subpar to say the least. How does a stylist not even reach out to an unhappy client?! That alone just blows my mind. read more

Shane is fabulous! She expertly cuts my hair into a fabulous bob and she is an artist in coloring my hair! My hair has never looked so good! The salon itself is spacious and clean and there is a lovely calm energy which I easily feel. The owners are very sweet and kind. The calm and friendly atmosphere makes getting a wonderful haircut a therapeutic experience. By the way, I live in the City and I drive all the way to Amityville for LG Salon. Went to LG Salon today for a Magic Sleek. Valerie was awesome and my hair looked fabulous. She was very patient, process takes between 5 and 6 hours. If you have thick, frizzy hair I would highly recommend going you wont be disappointed. I was amazed that without a dryer or Iron my hair dries straight and looks AWESOME. No one listens. I asked for a straight line and I got angles. I asked for smooth layers, it's choppy. I asked for no thinning and it got thinned. So basically I paid for a crappy haircut that was the opposite of what I asked for. read more

VALERIE did my hair, unfortunately I will not be able to return since in my opinion Valerie is not able to listen, understand and respect what I say. On more than a few occasions I explained that I have a pinched nerve and arthritis in my neck. She seemed to do my hair without any concern whatsoever. The last time she cut my hair she kept pushing on my head left & right saying "come on just a little bit more", I have very little range of motion in my neck - when she was pushing on my head it hurt and she kept doing it. Also, once when she was coloring my hair she suggested going under the heat lamp, I voiced my concerns that it would be too hot for my already swollen neck and she pushed me into it by saying "no, you need to do this it will be fine", it wasn't. Compared to other stylists I have been to Valerie seemed to be concerned with doing what she wanted to and take a very long time, by the time she was done my neck was really hurting. By this time I just wanted to leave. That's when she said, "sit down, I am not done"??? I tried to say no, I don't want anything else done to my hair and she again insisted that I sit down. (She looked at it and really didn't do much after that) Valerie also didn't listen when it came to my hair cut either - last time I said just a trim, she said "no, this time we will do more than a trim because that's what we agreed on last time"....??? I have had many people cut/color my hair, never have I felt so disrespected & disregarded as a customer or client. I feel lucky that she did not hurt my neck worse and I guess you can't count on everyone having people skills. Valerie's attitude was horrible - defensive, argumentative and disrespectful and still I managed to be polite and tip her well when she clearly didn't deserve it. (I understand trying to make a living). She should realize it's not "her haircut" as she said - it's my hair, it should have been what I wanted - it's bad business to be pushy & confrontational with customers and even worse on a personal level! I've gone to LG Salon a lot recently for blowouts with Valerie and she is amazing! She's really nice, along with being very creative. She takes the weather into account, which makes the blowout last longer. Highly recommend! The salon also really makes an effort to work with my strange schedule, which is great. I have only good things to say! I was a new client today and my stylist had to leave early and this Salon went above and beyond to accommodate! The owner Larry rearranged his schedule to fit me in today and he was absolutely amazing. He listened to everything I wanted and did just that. He gave me an extremely thorough consultation, showed me hair swatches to make sure he knew what color I was looking for, gave me different options with his professional opinion and double checked he had everything correct before he started. He made me feel better about some hair loss/thinning I've been experiencing lately and showed me the new hair growth that I had which gave me a sense of comfort. I also expressed how my hair lifts blonde very quickly and he listened to me. I have left salons in the past with damaged hair due to stylist not listening to me so this was much appreciated. I left today with my hair feeling silky and healthy. The atmosphere of the salon was so chill and relaxing. Words cannot express how pleased I was when the session was over today. This is the WORST experience I've ever had at a salon! I left with multiple chemical burns on my scalp. After expressing my extreme hatred of the service and the fact I was embarrassed to be seen in public with the condition of my hair, I was still denied my money back. Nikki also had the nerve to say that it was my fault I was unhappy and should have actually been charged more. I tried not to let one bad review sway my decision from trying a new salon after recently moving and that was a horrible decision. Hopefully another honest review about their incompetence with hair color will sway your decision. Save your money and your hair, GO ANYWHERE ELSE! read more

DO NOT let Nikki highlight or color your hair. I went in for a cut and we talked about my roots she said she can just bump up my roots so I can prevent damaging my hair. I went in for a root bump up as she suggested. She proceeded to run the color all the way through my whole head and changed the color of my hair completely. She does not know how to match color so she runs the color completely through your hair and changes your entire color. When I told her I wasn't happy she told me that it would wash out. I called her back and told her how unhappy I was. She told me that is what I asked for. I asked for my roots to be done not to change the color of all of my hair. She was more worried about how much it would cost to fix it then fixing it. I would not trust her to fix it because I really don't think she knows how to do color. read more

I love LG Salon - everyone takes such good care of you. My stylist left and now I go to Nikki and I love the way she does my hair. The color is awesome and the cut is incredible. I work where a lot of people see my hair style and I get tons of compliments thanks to LG Salon. I gave this place one star because I had to do it in order to write. Larry did my lift and color it took him 4 hours and my hair broke and is a disaster. I am so disappointed with my experience. This was the worst experience I've ever had at a salon. I walked out of this place devastated over my hair. Nikki should not only be banned from applying color to a human scalp but she should be embarrassed to run her business the way she does. Kudos to Larry and his staff for having a Manhattan-style salon in Amityville. They use products that don't dry our my hair or have that "after color" smell. I always gets compliments after using this salon - and I love that there is a Triumph motorcycle there. As a motorcyclist I love having rider mags to read while I'm waiting! to LG Salon on Merrick Road in Amityville. I just finished a VERY long appointment there to have a Magic Sleek done and I could not be more pleased. The salon itself is very neat and clean. Someone was constantly sweeping and cleaning during the time that I was there. Every single person that I came into contact with was kind, sweet, and professional. My appointment was with Emily. She walked me through each part of the process with ease, answering any and all questions that I had. And, although it took 4 hours to do the Magic Sleek, Emily went out of her way to make me comfortable. I was repeatedly asked if I needed a break or would like a water. The decor is so cute, they are extremely friendly and accommodating (offered me water and coffee), the wash area is SUPER comfy with cushions and mini ottomans to rest your feet, and most importantly, my hair came out great (thanks Valerie)!! LOVE this salon! My sister first visited LG a year ago and saw Maria and soon after she had myself and my other sister in her chair. The three of us have different hair types, but Maria does an OUTSTANDING job on each of us. Can honestly say she has given us all the best color and cuts/styling we have had ever. The salon itself is super clean and sexy and the staff very professional, yet friendly! I even take my 4 year old to Maria because I love her and the salon so much. The keratin treatment my sisters and I have received come out perfect every time.
