The building in itself is only 2 floors & it looks like it's built in the 1970's because it appears it has that original yellow green paint from that era. But in all honesty, what matters is what is being offered. It's a small class of only 6 students (could accommodate up to 10) in a small classroom. Nicole, our instructor is a Respiratory Therapist by trade & is confident & knowledgeable in her teaching the class. No muss no fuss. Its STRESS FREE---entirely the reason I opted to elect this place instead of taking it at my job site. It is not economically sound but I value my comfort over anxiety if I am to do recertification every 2 years! We were shown videos/instructions in addition to her teaching & the CPR dummies are provided for demonstration & we paired up to demonstrate skills. It was performed at ease & it is what I appreciated. Most importantly, Nicole made herself available for questions & clarifications with the post test--thank goodness. Once again, easy-peasy lemon squeezey, loved this portion! Will definitely return & recommend this site. *****CAUTION****** **NOT HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE** I had to take the stairs with my bum knee (LOL). Hey it was okay, I just took my time. Used to take it in Long Beach (991 Medical) for convenience & closer to home but in comparison this place, Elite ROCKS! Really glad & very satisfied I tried it here. I lost my mom in late 2025 to liver cancer. She was in/out of hospitals, rehabilitation and acute…read morecare facilities, towards the end, home hospice care. It was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. For the most part, she received quality care. It was the horrible care she received an acute care facility, that motivated me to pursue a career as a health care advocate for seniors. The seniors without family and friends received subpar care and treatment. I was at the facility daily and had to pull teeth to insist on her getting the bare minimum care. My employment background is mostly in transportation and finance. I cared for my mom and received a 40 hour a month salary for 24 hours a day care as an IHSS provider. I wanted to expand my resume and become a Certified Nurse Assistant as well as a Certified Home Health Care Provider. My goal is to have a few clients to assist from home to the hospital. I needed an online school that would allow me to have days free to address probate, financial and grief therapy concerns. I googled CNA schools in the Riverside county area and selected McKallen Medical.The knowledge I obtained at McKallen not only broadened my natural patient centered care instincts, it provided me with additional tools, resources and knowledge that has opened my heart and soul. I enrolled in the CNA course 4 months after my moms death. I was stuck in the bargaining stage of grief. I was being triggered by some of the lessons. It was a daily barrage of " if I could of, would of, should of" mental gymnastics. Logically, I knew that I did not have the knowledge to know what steps could have made a difference in my mothers care. However, in the midst of grief, you are filled with guilt and despair. After my first week of theory, I notified administration and told them I was struggling with the course. Tre Green, was not only understanding, he was compassionate and empathetic. He advised me to take as much time as I needed and pursue the course when I was ready to move forward. Eventually I re-started the course with Instructor Mary Montantes-Peck. She was a SUPERB INSTRUCTOR. She is passionate, knowledgeable and engaged. She is the prime example of passing on to others what she embodies as a human being. I am a firm believer that we give to the world, the skills, values and growth mindset that we have. Mary's knowledge about resident/patient care comes from a deep compassionate core. Alex Portillo, the clinical instructor, was great as well. Alex made what could have been a high stress environment into a calm, smooth and knowledgeable experience. There were a few issues with the skills lab training, so this is the reason for a 4 star review. Overall, I had a wonderful experience. I am deeply grateful and appreciative for what McKallen Medical Training provided. I would highly recommend the school to all potential enrollees. Just go in with an open heart and mind and you will reap the benefits and rewards.

Out of all the instructors I have had, the one who has been the most helpful and supportive to me has been Miss G, our OB instructor. Miss G has been very hands-on and has always taken the time to answer my questions and help us whenever she could. She has prepared us well for going out into clinicals, and I know that if I ever need help or have a question, she is only an email away and is always quick to respond. I honestly would have loved for Miss G to be the one handing me my diploma because she has been more than just an instructor to me she has been a mentor. She is truly one of the best instructors I have had throughout this program. Miss Rich, the program director and also our physics instructor, is also a good teacher. I can honestly say that her teaching skills are very good, and she knows the material well. The only challenge is that she is extremely busy and has a lot on her plate, so sometimes emails may not get answered or may receive a response much later. Overall, I don't think the program itself is as bad as some people have made it seem. It is definitely fast-paced and can be overwhelming at times, but I think a lot depends on your experience with the instructors and the support you receive. If I were to rate the school, the main reason I would give it 4 stars is because of Miss G. She has genuinely made a difference in my experience in this program. Her patience, hands-on teaching, encouragement, and willingness to help have made me feel more prepared and confident going into clinicals.
