After reviewing everything, I felt the program was much more expensive than I expected. I ended up enrolling in a tuition-free Pharmacy Technician program through a local adult school instead. To my surprise they offer a lot of options in the medical field tuition free If you're considering this school, I recommend asking for a full breakdown of tuition and fees and comparing it with other programs in your area before making a decision.

I believe 2028 is est completion. They are doing it all at once as opposed to different areas at a time. My child had an issue with a roommate situation. I'm about empowering my kids to figure things out. After a very discouraging initial experience with the mental health services on campus, my son finally got a little direction. Then dealing with BMAC was a whole other issue. It's like they knew these kids don't understand how to navigate the system, so instead of helping direct them, they make it difficult and drawn out. Another issueI was double charged for tuition. They don't send the people who ACTUALLY pay the bill the info. They're "teaching the kids to be adults" and although I support that it's quite frankly ridiculous that I as a parent can't see a bill!! Need to call the bursar's office? Says they open at 8am but the recording at 815am says they're not avail and hi call back during normal hours. Lastly, the amount of money I'm paying and the amount of classes that get canceled is pretty crazy. I feel like I'm owed a refund.

I've had great professors, and good professors - none were bad. I've had good experience with the nursing leadership as well. I have been shown kindness and support along the way- I am grateful God led me to AUHS. Ms. Barbara Cook- Strong is a great asset to this University. This woman is worth every coin she makes and much much more. She not only is a fellow animal print lover, but she is a phenomenal student advocate and extremely supportive. I could not imagine the workload that comes with supporting so many students. I am sure she has deadlines galore but somehow the work gets done. Her diligence and desire to see the students succeed is evident. She gives great advice and is gracious and compassionate. I could go on and on about how fabulous she is, but if you ever get a chance to meet her, please treat her as the gem that she is, and nothing less! Lastly, nursing school is not easy, and no institution is perfect- but there is a reason the most recent cohort has 100% passing rate, other cohorts upper 90's at NCLEX. Be prepared to work hard, don't get involved with politics, just pursue your goal and move forward! So far, it is working for me :)

I entered the program with a strong desire to learn and serve as a nurse. Instead, I encountered disorganization, mismanagement, and repeated unprofessional and sometimes retaliatory behavior from leadership. These were not isolated events, but part of a recurring, harmful culture that prevents student success. 1. Clinical Hours: Disorganized and Incomplete During our pediatric rotation, AUHS initially failed to provide the 120 required clinical hours. When I asked what would happen if we didn't meet the requirement due to their error, we were told we would have to retake the course. The hours were eventually made up but in a rushed and chaotic way that prioritized survival over education. 2. Retaliation: Punished for Raising Concerns Students who voiced concerns about scheduling were met with hostility. Marilyn Uvero (Provost) interrupted lecture to accuse the class of being "ungrateful." I was given a formal reprimand for respectfully raising concerns in a private meeting. That same day, AUHS added class days without the legally required student consent under CA Ed Code §94898. 3. Dismissed Complaints: No Accountability One clinical instructor canceled sessions with no makeup plan. When reported, including complaints from students and hospital staff, leadership denied the issues and kept the instructor in place. 4. Unsafe Clinical Environment We submitted a formal letter regarding misconduct by Professor Denise Waller. She sent students home for rules never communicated, humiliated students in front of staff, entered a locked psych unit without clearance, and physically grabbed a student's badge. AUHS policy defines this as harassment. No action was taken. 5. Communication Failures Last-minute changes and ignored emails were constant. One clinical day was "likely" moved to Saturday, but no confirmation was ever given. Even getting a bootcamp time required escalating to senior staff after several emails went unanswered. 6. False Advertising: Facilities Not Delivered AUHS promoted a new simulation lab in tours that influenced enrollment decisions. We never used it. Instead, we sat on the floor in crowded rooms and struggled to hear instructors due to faulty equipment. 7. Toxic Culture The former dean was fired early in the program. When students asked what to do, a faculty member said, "Run." Another instructor resigned mid-term due to the abusive behavior of Maria Shearing, Director of Clinicals. Students have been removed from clinicals without cause and told to pay $1,200 to make it up. Most stay silent out of fear. 8. Broken Promises: Tuition Rebate Withheld AUHS promised a $1,000 rebate for passing the NCLEX on the first try, to be issued the Friday of the first week of the next quarter. It has been over three weeks with no update. Multiple students asked, but the school has provided no answers. Some staff care, but they are the exception. AUHS offers no meaningful student support. It often feels hostile, punitive, and indifferent to the chaos it creates. This goes beyond poor organization and at times seems deliberately obstructive. I strongly advise against attending AUHS. If you do enroll, prepare to sacrifice your job, family time, and mental health. The school will not respect your time, concerns, or dignity. Nursing school should be hard because of the content, not because of the school itself. It should also be fair, professional, and focused on growth. AUHS fails across the board.

Maybe it has changed since 2004, but who knows... Anyway, I didn't learn basic math until I was 19 years old. Seriously. I literally could not do short division... well, until I went to the Long Beach School for Adults. At the time (I don't know about presently), they had a math learning center for remedial dummies like me and they had the most kind, caring, compassionate teachers there. They saw I was red-in-the-face embarrassed that I didn't know this basic stuff (nevermind that I blew the English assessment out of the water) and they re-assured me that it was fine, this was completely normal, and that they would get me up to speed. And they did. I learned all the math I needed to know and now, I am currently a calculus student at the college level. :-) I'll never forget my experience here!
