Not a good experience. Went with Adam Wain based on a recommendation and wished we had found someone else. We have four main complaints with this company: 1.) They lied to us about their interest rate. We specifically asked for an interest rate that did not involve the purchase of points to lower it. Adam gave us the rate and told us we were not purchasing points. We found out when it was too late to change it and still close on the house in time that he did in fact charge us points to get that interest rate. 2.) They waited until the day we were supposed to close on our house to send things to the title company and so we barely were able to close by the end of the day. All the information had been signed and was ready on our end well in advance. 3.) Adam would only address my husband in communication even though we bought our house jointly. Even when he needed information from me, he would address it to my husband saying he needed it. 4.) We have owned our house for nine months now and are still getting mail from them trying to talk us into purchasing a stupid "life insurance" policy for our mortgage. Definitely recommend looking elsewhere! read more

Without a doubt the worst in the biz. I went with this company cause I knew one of the employees. Gave him all my docs for a simple refinance. Took over a month to get back to me and tell me they were missing some docs. Got them those docs. Took two more months to let me know they still needed some more docs. Got them THOSE docs, and two months later (so basically waiting on this refi for 6 months) I still don't have an answer. I finally changed companies, got the new company all the same docs I gave CNN the first time, and I'm about to sign closing docs. It took 3 weeks. If you don't want a hassle, like good customer service, and want your loan done in a timely fashion, do NOT go here. read more

RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN... DO NOT RECOMMEND... My experience was HORRIBLE, This lender dropped the ball so many times and then tried to cover it up. I almost lost my purchase due to their negligence, lack of communication and telling each party something different. The sellers agent, buyers agent and the title company all said they were the WORST they have ever worked with. The Grapevine, TX office won't return phone calls, text messages or emails. The only person in the office that did return calls/text/emails as Carly. I did finally get the house but it took both agents and the title company to call the corporate office in AZ as they were trying to do somethings that were illegal. read more

I have bought several homes over the past 3 years and this services is not one I can recommend to assist with your loan process. The attention to detail simply was not there. This is a key requirement when dealing with financial documents. They then sell your mortgage directly after the purchase due to their mediocre rates. read more

I do not recommend. This was the preferred mortgage company for a builder that I was using and there was a financial incentive to use them. I had a unique situation where I am a 50% owner of a rental property in another state. I also run a home-based business. I spoke with Chantel and she told me that it was not an issue, and let me know what I qualified for. I provided all of the required financials and all was good until 30 days out. Then the problems started. I had to keep providing financial information for the business in various formats. Suzi, the loan underwriter, sent a rude e-mail waiting to know why my YTD numbers had October blank. It was only 10 days into October and I don't do the books until the end of the month. That was not sufficient. But sending the same document minus the last month (through the last completed month) was OK. Same numbers, same totals. Bank statement after bank statement was sent. Profit statement after profit statement (the business makes a fair amount of money). They were requesting documents from financial providers that didn't exist. Statements without a logo on them were insufficient (seriously, had the bank name, but not a logo). Finally that was taken care of. Then the next bombshell just a couple of weeks out. Chantel was "not aware" that the they changed their rules on rental properties. I'm a 50% owner, I claim 50% of the income and expenses on my taxes which Uncle Sam is fine with. CNN, not so much. They now require that I need to be capable to cover 100% of the expenses. That would be fine if they would let me claim 100% of the income, but for that they can only use what is on my taxes! So I'm responsible for 100% of the costs, but can only use 50% of the income toward that. Basically I was showing to be at a huge loss each month and it affected my qualification. We're now days out from closing. I had to get the builder involved to smack some sense into these guys, otherwise I wasn't going to have the house. 7 Month process and the issues arise in the final days. They were able to find a different loan that for my situation, but it wasn't the type that I wanted to be in and it costs me more per month. Once the loan closed (fortunately on time) the fun continued. CNN Mortgage "forgot" to have the final appraisal done and it had to be done after we moved in. They also "missed" documents that we had to sign AFTER CLOSING. These guys are a joke. Avoid them at all costs. The builder has dropped them after many similar complaints. I have a profitable business, plenty of money in savings and they treat me like a criminal. And the ironic part, they sold the loan immediately to another company. And that document says by law they (CNN Mortgage) are required to notify me 10 days prior to the transfer. I got the notice from them 5 days after. Ugh! read more

I would never use this company again. This was the preferred mortgage company of my home builder and had a financial incentive to use them. I had the displeasure of working with Angie Smith, who I can only assume is a stay at home mother who does this on the side from home. I have nothing against working from home while raising kids, but when dealing with a mortgage, the few times I talked to her on the phone she had kids screaming in the background. After a certain point in the transaction, all phone conversations ceased and the communication went strictly through email. Angie often would not pick up a phone call, but then email me right back. During this long process, I had to work in Texas, and kept getting requests for more and more items to be provided, signed, etc... I wasn't able to take care of this while in Texas and asked Angie if we could meet in the 48 hours I would be back one week because I would be gone again for another long period of time. She agreed to finally meet, but then when that day came, nothing. I don't know that Angie even has an office to go to or if we were going to meet at a coffee shop. The reason for this 1 star review was because I never at any point in this experience felt like I mattered as a customer to her and her communication is absolutely horrible. In the end I just wanted to meet at an office, that has a printer and internet, and I would have been able to provide her with everything she needed right then and there, instead of these long email threads going on and on and on, and being drawn on and on because she is shuttling her children to and from different places. Angie, if this is something you want to do as a career, make the people you work for feel like they matter. Your inconsistent communication, and reluctance to pick up a phone call is very off putting and borderline offensive. I had to stop and think about what the heck I was getting myself into, signing all these papers from someone who won't even pick up my calls, but is about to originate a loan on my house for me. Big or small, mansion or motor home, everyone you talk to should be shown some type of priority. I highly suggest you pick up the phone next time one of your clients call you, because I'll be honest, I ONLY went with you because of the incentive, a mistake I will NEVER make again. Today, I should be closing on my house instead of writing this review about how terrible CNN is in actually getting the job done. However, they decided to call me at 10AM the day I was closing on my house to inform me that my loan was denied because of reasons they already were aware of. I am a teacher who was moving to the area and getting an FHA loan. I told them where I lived and that I was concerned that this would interfere with the process. They assured me that it was not a big deal. After paying them additional money to expedite the process so that I could be sure I was ready to move in before I needed to be out of my old place (which they over charged me for and said they would give back to me at closing) I am still without a house. They seemed shocked that my loan didn't go through. CNN Mortgage, that is your job. I am a first time home buyer and it is your job to know the laws, rules, and to guide me through the process. On a side note they are really nice and I think they just get recommendation from realtors for a kick back, however they are not capable of doing their job correctly. This is the worst mortgage experience I have had in 40 years of buying and selling 8 houses in different states. They did not meet their own commitments and left me hanging throughout the process. Communication was poor, in fact no one notified me when my loan was finally approved. After closing they sent a FedEx with no explaination just a bunch of documents like the note, application and 3 other documents that didn't get signed by both parties because they didn't prepare the documents correctly. I had to jump through hoops numerous times because it's like the first mortgage they've ever originated. I could write pages about their incompetence. I'm giving this establishment 5 stars for several reasons. First, our original loan officer (with US Bank) wasn't available on a Saturday afternoon when we needed him but he said he would be available (left several messages and never received a return call). So Bob Gomez with CNN Mortgage was recommended and he was available. He was working remotely that day. He obtained all necessary info in about 45 minutes over the phone and we were pre-approved (again) and able to make an offer. Secondly, we needed to close within 3.5 weeks. We were motivated and proactive and Bob kept it moving smoothly. Third, we ran into an administrative snapfu, which initially wasn't handled well by another member but Bob was an advocate for us and we ended up speaking with the co-owner and the make it or break it situation was resolved. Fourthly, I was highly impressed with the co-owner taking the time to listen to our concerns and wanting to resolve the issue. Not only that but he wished us enjoyment of our new home. read more

Like several of the other reviewers, we had been working with Angie Smith for a year only to find out 3 weeks AFTER our original close date (the date was pushed due to an unexpected construction issue) that our loan was denied because of "new rules" they weren't aware of. (Sound familiar, Jake A.?). They also claimed they were unaware of an issue we had disclosed from day 1, prior to the pre-approval process. Now we have the option of accepting financing at a higher rate or walking away from THOUSANDS of dollars. These people are nothing short of incompetent baffoons, if not just plain crooks. I do not recommend CNN Mortgage to anyone. This has been a horrible experience and finally had to have the loan denied after two months of having the home in escrow. The site says they close loans in 15 days! I gave them two months an still couldn't do it. I sent paper work and more paper work. I had requests everyday for stuff that I had already sent. 3/4 the way through the loan the guy transfers or quits and goes to another company. Shouldn't someone have let us know that? We start dealing with a new guy that we have no idea who the hell he is. After all this we lost the house due to the owner couldn't wait any longer. I don't blame them one bit. Thanks cnn mortgage! It's a good thing we didn't give our landlord a notice or we would be homeless with nothing but your promises. read more

The Morrow Team is awesome. They are on top of your loan process all the way. Never any indication of the usual get to one point and forget about you. Remember you do need to communicate any problems in the process, but it was my experience that this team went above and beyond the normal level of diligence. Michael my broker in Prescott, AZ is fantastic but the organization as a whole is the pits. The first house I made an offer on, they sent out an appraiser that was illiterate using an appraisal which looked like it came from another property then he appraised it $20K below what its actual value was. So there went my appraisal fee. The the next house, I was approved for the loan and was ready to close and had movers scheduled to move my furniture and then because I accepted an advanced position making more money with another organization, they tried to delay the closing for another 2 weeks to a month. Resulted in me losing the house and expedited appraisal plus the additional expense. Needless to say I fired them and went with another lender. Very unreliable. Had me doing a lot of the foot work to obtain financial documents that they were being paid to gather themselves. If you have any other options for a lender go with that one and save yourself a lot of expense and aggravation. I feel sorry for anyone that has the misfortune of dealing with this lender. read more
