I pay myself from my Chase business account by transferring funds to my Midfirst personal account. Usually I initiate the process from Chase, but recently I did one from Midfirst. When I still didn't have credit for the funds, three days later, I called and asked why. I was told there is a five-day hold on transfers, and that the screen tells me this when I initiate transfers. I checked, and it doesn't. I really don't like it when a bank lies to me. If you don't mind a bank lying to you, go to Midfirst. I should probably just switch my personal banking to Chase also. read more

Once you transfer your money it's extremely hard to get it out of there. I did a wire transfer for a friend and it went to their fraud department and flagged it as fraud. I explained all the details of the wire transfer to their fraud department and they still declined it. They even called the recipient of the wire and even went as far as calling their real estate and title agency because we told them the transfer was for a real estate deal. They still wouldn't do the transfer after all of that. I am removing all my funds from Vio and Midfirst bank. I understand they need to be careful because of fraud but this is ridiculous after I told the fraud department that it's not fraud and verified everything. I am the customer since 2018. The bank was superb back then. Longer hours even on weekends, friendly stuff at local branches, etc. Now it is a disaster. Very understaffed. Long waiting times. New faces every month or so. Working hours shortened. No help available after hours, even over the phone. I had to return to the car dealer the next day, as there is no way to find out the payoff after hours. There is no help after hours with online banking. Debit card daily limits are ridiculously low. The over the phone help lives by Oklahoma time, so if you are in Arizona, you are out of luck. I am stuck with them as I am lazy to set up all automatic payments and direct deposits at another bank, but unless Midfirst will be bought by more decent institution, I will change. I have had accounts with midfirst for 35 years but recently i have been upset with overdraft fees. I was not informed that i was short funds . I expected my card to say insufficient charges so i had several 35 dollar over draft fees. Also i started a savings account and was not told i would get charged 4.00 for every month for paper statement s which negated much of my interest. I asked to personally take off the paper statement. I was told to do it online. I thought it was changed to online but noticed another paper charge 12/31. When i called the number i had to talk to a phillipine lady with a very heavy accent so i continually asked her to speak slowly so i could understand her. I wish that we could get help from people who speak English as their native language. read more

The website and phone app are so archaic and clumsy. when I call-in for support thry always blame a third party. I told the customer service rep their service is worse than Well Fargo. They didn't like that so they sent me a cancellation of service and gave me 10 days to find another bank. i was in the hospital and my wife was commuting 2 hours to see me and they shit off our cards before the 10 days. read more

Midfirst Bank is so customer un-friendly! I have banked here for nearly 20 years and over time, this bank has made it so difficult on the customer. I'm sure someone sitting in an office somewhere thinks they are making things safer and more fraud-resistant overall, but these stupid decisions have made doing business here just ridiculous! The amount of verification needed just to accomplish a simple task is nonsensical. I just called the customer service line to perform a simple task. After giving them my name, date-of-birth, last 4 of social security number, the last for digits of my debit card and even told them the design of my card (stars and stripes), they still would not assist me unless I could tell them the last transactions used by my card. Utterly ridiculous! And I'm not sure what the next 63 verifications would be entailed before they decided if they would help me or not. And to get a cashier's check takes minimum 15 - 20 minutes. Whereas I can walk into BancFirst or First United and be in and out in less than 5 minutes. One time, a cashier's check took over an hour because the approval needed was from someone at a different branch and they weren't available. Not to mention the manager at the branch near my house is Cruella incarnate (SW 104th and Penn). I was trying to cash a $3200 dollar check one time - and mind you, there was well over $100,000 in my account. And after standing at the counter for over 10 minutes while they were looking at who knows what, Cruella, with my drivers license in her hand, finally comes over and snidely demands my mother's maiden name and something else I don't remember. Suffice it to say, Midfirst is NOT customer-centric in the least. I'll gladly close my accounts and take my money to some other bank that will at least pretend they want me there. This place is a real mess. All we needed to do was add a signer to an existing business account. The process was onerous enough already, having to have ALL current and new signers show up at the same time. Why? People could have come by with their documents at separate times more easily, especially since one person works out of state 70% of the time. Then they screwed up several things with typos, which of course made some data protection systems say we might be using fake ID or something. Fixed that. Then they wanted another document which simply does not exist, period. While trying to figure that out, they put a block on deposits, so we can't even deposit a check now. Aside from this, the web site is kind of bad, and the app is simply awful. One of the dumbest things with the app is that you have to enter an account ID number that is separate from the account number, plus your own username and password. You can't save the account id, and have to look it up every time. The app doesn't do TouchID like all other banking apps do, and there are no simple PIN or 2FA login options such as with Paypal and some others. So managing the account is already kind of frustrating. I told them to go ahead and close the account, and will start a new one at a real bank tomorrow. The only reason for two stars and not one is that the employees have always been really pleasant and friendly. read more

My banking experience with MidFirst has been incredibly disappointing. My company is a small business and we work with a vendor in Bulgaria, which requires payment my international wire transfer. Accordingly I requested an international wire transfer to my vendor for $1025 over a month ago. My vendor claims to have never received it and has asked for a SWIFT document or some type of legal document showing that the money was sent and received. MidFirst had no problem taking the $1025 from my account, but after weekly requests for verification that it was actually sent and received their manager and Vice President, Jay Kandybowicz, has refused to provide that documentation. With week I will initiate whatever legal remedies that I may have, but it is heartbreaking that this bank refuses to provide this simple document. I lost my bank card ( the yellow one) and went to get another. I was told the machine is down due to a part that's on order, but I could go to another location and get a card. I ask where. they said Camelback...that's 20+ miles away! I go back 2 months later and its still not fixed. Not to mention the change machine was broken. So, I go into the branch 10 days ago and order the yellow card. Still waiting for it. I call yesterday and ask what the status was on the card. After I confirmed who I was and where I lived, I was told "oh its on its way and just waiting for you to activate it"...so I say, "when was it mailed?"....she checked for a minute, then asked to put me on hold......then she comes back and says, "can I call you back? I was convinced to switch to Midfirst for my business banking a few years ago by my financial advisor, he stated I would save money on fees and receive more personalized service. Well, I have to say I have regretted the decision ever since! This is the most antiquated bank there is! There website is from the 1990's and not user friendly at all. You cannot transfer money to another bank from their website, pull up your account number, make a Zelle payment, or do many other basic functions that all other banking sites allow you to do these days. If you do not use your debit card for several months (which is not uncommon) they deactivate it and you have to go to the bank and order another one which takes several weeks to arrive. When you go to the bank to deposit checks they make the teller manually add up the check totals versus letting them use a scanning machine. Imagine how long this takes when I bring in 50 business checks??? It makes absolutely no sense! I may be saving money on fees, but as they say "you get what you pay for", I will be switching back to my old back shortly! read more

The company sent me an email to sign up. I did all of the requirement. I accessed the website and transferred $100.00. Five hours later the bank summarily closed the account and flagged it fraud. I opened my account mid-pandemic. 3 weeks later no checks, no business debit or checks and no ability to transfer monies between accounts. MidFirst's customer service (phone) is outstanding. However their online banking interface is difficult to navigate and I can't seem to get my account issues resolved. It's not a seamless experience. We joined Midfirst bank many years ago because of the friendliness, willing to help and perks. However things are changing at Midfirst Bank on greenway Road. Every year at the beginning of summer I go in to cash out my change for my grandkids. Honestly every time I have gone in in the last 8 to 9 years the machine was broke. So this time I called and they told me the machine was working but I needed an appointment. The earliest appointment they had was at 11 which was about 90 minutes after I called. By the way the lady on the phone was extremely rude and I will have to say this is not normally the case. The employees are normally very pleasant in fact they always been very pleasant. I went in for my appointment at 11 and guess what the machine had just broke. Not only had it broke again coincidentally but the employees could have cared less about my dilemma. Because of circumstances I will be seeing my grandkids in a day or two I needed to get my change cashed in today and it cost me $36 to get it done it could've been free at my bank.The other day my husband went into the bank to get something notarized only to be told by the employee that they didn't have the authority to notarize it. He went right across the street to UPS store who was shocked that the bank could not notarize it. So instead of getting it notarized for free it cost him eight dollars to get notarized. So much for the perks at Midfirst Bank. I'm disappointed at the way this branch is handling business. If you're interested in Midfirst bank I'd consider another branch. Might I also say I respect honesty but when I asked why I needed an appointment to cash out change the rude employee said it was because of a low number of employees. However as I stated we've belonged to that branch for many many years and we've never seen so many employees at one time. Shame on you Midfirst! read more

Worst bank ever. Their online banking and payment choices are archaic and customer service nonexistant. Even the Branch Manager at the Greenway Scottsdale branch promised to call me back but never did! Payments on loans can only be made from a Midfirst account and if you transfer money from another bank into your Midfirst account so that you can make a payment, they hold those funds for approximately 8 business days. I am only leaving 3 starts because the employees at every branch I have been to are super helpful and friendly. However, when it comes to the credit card department, I am giving them zero stars. I have received the worst customer service from MidFirst Bank via telephone. I have requested now four times to have a Credit Card mailed out to me. Multiple supervisors have failed at the task to expedite the card. I first requested the card July 19th, and should have been mailed out July 20th. It is now August 11, and I still have not received a credit card the four times I have requested it. I am tired of being told, wait 48 hours for a call back, and I do not receive a call back from anyone at any time. I am tired of being told that the representatives are sorry for the inconvenience. This is beyond and inconvenience and to the point where I have filed a complaint with the BBB and I am requesting to be compensated for the inconvenience that has been given to me. There is no excuse as to why I still receive the statements at my home address, but cannot receive a credit card in the mail. I have been a member with MidFirst bank for years now. I currently called today and spoke to Catina, a floor supervisor, and she said she put in the form correctly and I should receive a card Monday. I expressed what an inconvenience it was and she simply said "is there anything else I can do for you?" I am sticking to Navy Federal, and other banks. Would give zero stars if I could . Have a credit card with MidFirst and came in to the branch with a bag of change and they told me I can't use the coin machine unless I pay a fee . Both my parents have an account with MidFirst and they were told when they opened the account that the coin machine was available to customers as well as the public, friends and family . Still they insisted I must have an account. Since I was left with no choice I asked to sit down and open an account with Michelle so I could use the coin machine . Michelle then said she wouldn't open me an account just so I could use the machine. I was denied an account and told I was raising my voice when I expressed calmly that it was my business to use the account how I please . Pretty sad how she turns away and treats customers who need a legitimate banking need . I was just trying to get my coins cashed and expressed how it was rude and she then proceeded to tell me to leave while stating I was raising my voice , when I never raised my voice one time . It was so bad another customer saw what was happening and felt bad for me and said he couldn't believe I was treated that way and assured me I never raised my voice . I have been using MidFirst Bank on Elliot Rd in Tempe for ~10 years as my secondary bank since my primary bank is PNC in NJ. I have always been impressed with the customer service and friendly staff and management. Today that has changed. I went to cash a check similar what I have been doing for years. I was told I had to come into the bank. When I went into the bank and asked the manager Michelle what had changed since I have been doing it at the drive thru for years. She proceeded to tell me it had always been the policy and the management has changed. She was arrogant and her attitude was just not what I have experienced in the past. Can you really love your bank ? Mid-first could be one .... I originally opened an account at mid-first with no expectation thinking it just another bank. And the sole reason I opened an account with them was -incentive offer at the time (they gave me ~$120 cash gift card) -high checking interest rate at the time -Can use ATM anywhere with no fee (they reimburse it) -Good business hours ... much longer than most of your average joe major bank in the country Then I fell in love with it with the ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL customer service. I am not talking about a single transaction, but I went to many different branch and interact with many different staffs .... they are ALL great .... I don't know how the training program is, but hand down the best banking experience I have had. And they were never pushy toward any services making me very comfortable. Everyone tries to be very nice, but the infrastructure itself does not allow the employees to assist the customer. Employees at this bank will gladly pass you to another department and misguide because their hands are tied. They must just listen to clients complain all day about getting regular assistance for their credit card and banking. My particular issue has regulatory implications! MidFirst reminds of the local community bank your parents banked at where customer service is key and the needs of the customer are a priority. The product offering is highly competitive and I earn a very competitive rate on my checking account compared to other banks that require a significant amount on deposit. This bank is a disaster!! I just closed my account. But like other reviews I have to say the branch staff is very nice and the branches are very pretty. Unfortunately, they're pretty much useless. They can't effect anything. I have to give them a score of -10 (yes minus 10) for their online banking. Looks like something written in DOS from 1987. Has absolutely NO Functionality! All of their banking technology is like 30 years behind. I thought it would be a good thing to form a business relationship with a regional bank. WRONG! This bank as the worst app I have ever used. When I go to locations it tells me there are none and to search again. I did this search in the parking lot of one of their banks. There is no way to find their locations within the app, you can't troubleshoot or even get tech support. Also, I sold a car and had it notarized at one of their locations and the notary forgot to sign his name... correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that all they need to do is stamp and sign. I am sooooooo happy with them - it's been years since I didn't HATE my bank (BofA, Chase) and I forgot what customer service is and what it means when your bank cares about you. Every aspect of working with them is a plus. I cannot think of any negatives at all, really. They also have a free coin sorter, extended hours cold drinks, lollipops and cookies for my dogs! They have helped me with domestic and international banking and EVERY issue I have brought in has been resolved with concern and awesome followup. Remember when you LIKED your bank?? I am closing my accounts on Monday. I have had my accounts for 1 1/2 years and I have had nothing but trouble. I first opened my account for school as they are ASU's banking partner, but moving 40k into the accounts took 1 month. I was not able to pay my rent or other bills, and the hardship it caused was significant. The ATMs are so outdated and slow! If you deposit anything in the ATM be prepared to wait a week plus, so if you need your funds make sure to go in the bank, but it will still take a day to clear. My rent check bounced when the funds were available and after 2 hours being passed around on the phone by customer service, I was advised to go into the branch for help. The branch manager could not figure out what happened and had to call someone for assistance. They finally realized that my transfer of funds from savings to checking took 24 hours to clear, and even though the funds were there, and the check processed two days later the system saw it as no funds available. That was a fun mess to clean up, but they actually helped and waived the enormous amount of fees, even though I still payed fees through my landlord for NSF and check return. There system is severely out of date!!! The glitches in the system are frustrating and the fees are outrageous!! They do not reverse fees either, you have to beg, and even when it's their system error they make you feel like they are giving you a kidney by reversing the fees that are caused by their system errors. I did not want to have overdraft protection on my accounts because they charge $12 dollars for the service and a $35 dollar overdraft fee, but in order to remove the protection I had to go into the branch and sign a paper of authorization. I thought that would be all that had to be done but I was told it had to be submitted and reviewed and would take a couple days. Submitted to whom? Days??? I would honestly stay away as there are much better banks that have up to date technology!! read more
