Dr. Lian's office came highly recommended. The staff returned my call quickly and scheduled an appointment for a consult. Everyone was kind, efficient, and friendly. Dr. Lian reviewed the digital x-rays I brought, asked what measures I had already taken to relieve pain (including callous removal), provided an explanation of what was causing the pain in my foot, and what he could do, surgically, to remedy the problem. Unlike the first opinion from a local doctor, the second opinion from Dr. Lian was a solution which will NOT require 6 - 8 weeks of no weight bearing at all by my foot, which would lead to muscle atrophy and lots of rehab!! An appointment was scheduled for surgery and the nurse is available if I need to change the appointment or have questions. I am very happy with this office so far and look forward to great results from the surgery. read more

Not a great Doctor. He spent little time with me, but did tell me that the broken bones I had (foot/ankle/leg) was all in my head and said he couldn't assist me. I fell down a flight of stairs, but I guess that was all in my head too. Crazy! I went back to my referring doctor and asked for another referral. I had a rods, pins, screws and multiple pieces of hardware installed in my leg and foot. My new orthopedic surgeon was shocked that Dr George Lian dismissed me and provided such awful customer service. PLEASE RETIRE DR LIAN!!! read more

#1 ankle doc in town! Was referred to Dr. Lian from an ER expert and he was indeed THE MAN! Just 3.5 months after a brutal ankle dislocation (with broken fibula to boot) I'm running and jumping and getting around just fine again. Have "lapped" fellow robo-ankle folks who had their ankle surgeries before me. Trainers who saw my injury thought I'd be on the shelf for a year at least - nope, back at it after 3 months thanks to Dr. Lian! Great guy too. Sharon in the office is very helpful as well. And they run an extremely efficient ship - my appointments were always a crisp 10 or 15 minutes. They got me in for surgery the morning after I walked in the office. Awesome all around. read more

I had a knee surgery in late July which did not seem as bad as my foot surgery last week . Dr. Lian wanted to release me the next day . I told him what my pain level was and he was more concerned about my insurance . I called my insurance and was told the dictator could overwrite it if my pain was not controllable and still is not till this day . The last time I was in the hospital I was able to push a button for the pain . Not this time . I had a Bo e graph off the top of my foot , they opened up the top of my foot and chiseled bone to replace the screws that were taken out . I was not told this . It's now going on six days and I feel I should still be in hospital . I was in the hospital for 7days and this seem to be twice as painful . When it comes to pain , I'm not sure he will be the right doctor. I will let you know how everything turns out . read more

S2 RT at the past one year i had open wound at my leg - metatarsal 3-4 finger i had a Bone reconstruction surgery: weil osteotomy, planter plate repair, douvris+flexor to extensor transfer, extensor elongation i han now Kirschner wire in finger 4+3 i'm very worried about the day of Removal the KW if something is going wrong.. is it will be hurt? when the nurse is change the Dressing , and by mistake she pull/move the wire -it very painful to me.. what do you offer to me to do On the removal day? thank you dr! read more

I had an ankle replacement by Dr Lian almost 7 years ago. I was unable to walk across the street due to osteoarthritis mainly because of a 30 year old injury. Within 4 months after surgery I was back to hiking, biking, dancing, windsurfing etc. Even a little bit of skiing. All without pain. I was very happy with the way I was treated. He spent a lot of time with me explaining procedures and treatments. I was only overnight in the hospital 2 nights and off all pain medications within 2 weeks. I am a retired RN and am very knowledgeable about the health care system. I am writing this now because I am still so impressed with this Doctor and procedure I feel like it is my duty to let others know. This dr ruined my ankle. He placed the screws through to far through the bone and into the tendons. All he said was "that he didn't do anything over there". % weeks later when the double infection that came along with it blew out the side of my ankle, he decided to take an xray and realized the problem(NOT mistake). Put me in the hospital for another six days and almost killed me. NEVER use this arrogant person. read more

Dr Lian did my ankle surgery back when he was with UCDMC. You have two bones that join your ankle. He cut 3" off one and screwed it onto the side of the ankle joint he wanted to fuse. Six weeks later he sent me home in flip flops. I couldn't get any shoes to fit, the fusion did not "take" and it took 5 years and numerous surgeries to correct the mess he made. AND he did not timely fill out his paperwork so I could get paid while on disability. Being single at the time it was a big issue causing undo stress and hardship in what was already a difficult time. read more

I went into a total ankle replacement procedure with Dr. Lian after visiting several Orthopedic Surgeons claiming to perform this procedure. I chose Dr. Lian after a visit with Dr, Giza, both current and former head of ankle/foot orho at UC Davis. I had severe bone degradation after having walked, bone on bone for close to 10 years, and it was marginal as to whether or not a total ankle replacement could and should be done. After consultation with both surgeons it was determined that the total replacement could be done with a new prosthesis, the InBone System. The bottom line is, I could not be happier with all that occurred, from surgery through recuperation. It has been 5 months now, and I would recommend this procedure to anyone suffering from total ankle, bone on bone degradation. From the time I woke up from the anasthesia, I have had no pain and minimal swelling (and I typically swell badly).
