Another good Yelp find while looking for a meal break off I-35. This place looks so old inside, but nobody could tell me what the building was originally. It is very authentic Oklahoma. Downstairs service & food is great however when you go upstairs food & service is very lacking.

We were confused where to go for the buffet, when the host was going to seat us downstairs we told him we planned on the buffet and we were told to go upstairs. Once upstairs we weren't sure what to, had to ask a waitress that was passing by if we could just sit anywhere. Coffee, tea and water are included with the buffet and are self serve, the cups are the red plastic solo cups but the plates for the buffet are glass. The servers are very friendly and helpful, quick to clear plates, and offer to refill your cups even though it's self serve so that was appreciated. The drinks are outside on the patio, so having to open the door while trying to carry drinks back inside was inconvenient. The bathroom upstairs was clean, my only complaint is the roll of paper towels sitting on the counter that everyone touches to get some, not super hygienic. They should have a dispenser or a stack of folded paper towels. The food was mediocre. Everything was borderline cold except for the omelette station. But the eggs were fairly cold, bacon and sausage barely warm and the bacon was limp and unappealing. They had pancakes already made or you could get a fresh one with blueberries or chocolate chips. My husband took a plain one that was already made and didn't like it, said the bottom was hard. Biscuits and gravy were good, small fruit bowl that didn't get replenished while we were there, and a small assortment of pastries that I avoided because my kids have nut allergies and I couldn't tell what had nuts and what didn't. Over all there were some enjoyable things, but not enough that I'd return for the buffet, especially with it not being hot. Might return for their regular menu. read more

After seeing a review on Facebook where a man spoke highly about Libby's pork chop sandwich, three friends and I drove over today for lunch. We were not greeted when entering the cafe. A young female employee was on the phone, writing something down - perhaps a call-in order, but I could not be sure. She never looked up. Eventually, another employee came. One of the ladies in my group asked about live music. After finding something written down, the employee went over days of the week, hours, and types of music. We were eventually seated downstairs. I placed an order for fried mushrooms as an appetizer for the table. They were piping hot and nicely seasoned. They were served with two small bowls of runny Ranch dressing. Two of us ordered beef stew and cornbread. One of us ordered chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and a small salad. She was told she could help herself to the salad bar at no additional cost. And the fourth member of our party ordered the burger steak served with grilled onions, French fries, and fried okra. The stew and cornbread were quite tasty. The stew meat was very tender and there was plenty of canned green beans, carrots, potatoes, corn, and tomatoes in the very thin broth. Again.. quite tasty, but we both were a bit surprised at how watery the broth was. The chicken fried steak was tender. My friend was especially pleased with the mashed potatoes and salad bar. My other friend ate all her burger steak and onions and had a few of the fries (homemade) and a few bites of okra. Both of the dinners came with what we assumed were homemade yeast rolls. Both really liked the rolls. I ordered pecan cobbler for dessert, only to be told they were out of it. I switched to peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream. The cobbler was of the 'cake' variety. I did not care for it. I couldn't discern any peaches in the large serving. The bowl had lots of overly sweet cake and thickened syrup, making the dish much too sweet for my liking. And there was zero peach flavor. My friend ordered the blackberry cobbler, and she liked it. She said it was not too sweet, and it was loaded with blackberries. A gentleman next to us ordered the pork chop dinner. Remember, that was what I saw reviewed. It covered 3/4 of his dinner plate, and I noticed that he was able to easily cut it with his fork. Food normally is pretty good. However, tonight. It appears many restaurant beat a piece of beef into oblivion to make it spread out so they can impress you with a huge chicken fry. In the case of the chicken fry I ordered tonight it was in total about at most a 1/4 of an inch thick in the thickest part. I cut it to bite size in the first bite. It had maybe an 1/ of an inch of meat between the breading. All i could taste was breading. I ate almost 1/2 of the chicken fry. I couldn't take any more. As a Chef. I want to taste the meat and some vreading. But not just breading. Nastiest chicken fry I have eaten in a long time. They make a super good Cole slaw and it was sour. I'm not sure if the bad weather threw them off but it will be some time before I go back. If I wanted card board for dinner. I would have chewed on boxes at home. In all. A very bad experience. I hate poor quality and preparation of foods. I won't tolerate it. read more

To start we got the Appetizer Sampler which our choices were fried green beans, pickle chips, and southwest eggrolls. Fried green beans were normal, pickle chips were good but had a little kick, and the southwest eggroll were okay (chili's are better). I would still recommend people to try them for themselves. We all pretty much got fried fish at the table with just different sides. I did enjoy the fish, it was indeed good. The hushpuppies were amazing kind of wished for more of those. I also recommend getting the chicken fried steak. The atmosphere was a bit loud but enough seating for many. If you want a good family friendly restaurant this is a place to go with a bar, pool, and tv's. read more

Bad issues immediately #1 brand new hired waitress who wasn't trained (Not her fault) # 2 three of us ordered their special, which was 3 strawberry waffles and 1 side of scrambled egg. #3 two plates with waffles came out a small amount of whipped cream but no strawberries and somebody's else's breakfast plate. #4 waited & waited for the strawberries and the missing waffle. They took away the extra plate and brought the one scrambled egg. #5 the time the strawberries arrived the whipped cream had melted creating mushy waffles. #6 this is a manager issue and there wasn't one in sight. Upstairs remodel is impressive. Very nicely done. The food here used to be top notch. I was a once a month at least customer. I've hosted too many birthday parties upstairs to count, so to say I'm disappointed with my last visit is an understatement. Too many children running around up stairs back & forth thru the bar area. If their parents haven't taught them not to run around and thru, playing and stomping around other people's tables & chairs then management should say something to the parents. It's a bar. I don't expect to have to deal with children playing tag around my table. Appetizer came out with dinner, it was cold. As someone else mentioned, chicken fried chicken dinner was pounded flat and was not more than 1/4" of meat. It wasn't overly breaded, but there was more breading than meat because the meat was paper thin. Tea was good, but was served in a red solo cup. I get it, it's a bar, not a restaurant, but it's a bar with kids playing all over the dining and bar area. It was also 90+* outside, and we sat inside so we would have AC. Well before 9pm the overhead doors went up, and there went the AC. I'm not a fan of sweating while eating. I'll probably give them another try, because I've been going there for decades, but they'll just get one more chance. If I wanted to have dinner and a drink with kids I don't know playing and running around my table, I'd go to the kiddie pizza place. They need to get a handle on that. They also need to go back to the old way of preparing their food. Big drop off. Not sure I can recommend this place anymore. read more

I don't understand how this place gets such good reviews. The food is unseasoned and the okra tasted old. I got a grilled chicken sandwich and it was very dry. Our server was pretty rude with the way she was asking for our orders and was interrupting while we were telling her our order. I asked for a hoagie roll for my sandwich (which is a listed option) and she said they didn't have it and the menu was out of date so not sure what you actually can and can't order. The tables are close together and the benches are rather long so if you're sitting on the same bench as someone else you can feel their every move and hear everyone's conversations since you're so stinking close together. read more

We eat here a couple of times per week and we love it. The service is always outstanding!! The ambiance is an old diner type, but not very noisy. We have had almost everything on the menu and most of the desserts. The food is good, but I am a spicy flavorful kind of person and the only thing I have found to have a good flavor is the Salmon. You can get flavor added to the grilled fish and chicken and it's awesome. Food is always cooked perfect, except for the French toast. They have only had one cook that made French toast where it wasn't soggy in the middle, but he is obviously not there anymore, it has great flavor, but soggy. Everything else on the menu is good, so give it a try, I think you will enjoy it! read more
