    Class in progress

This is my favorite place to workout in San Diego!! I love the HIIT class style workouts. I also love the hybrid class which includes high intensity training followed by a yoga flow to cool down. The trainers are knowledgeable and helpful every step of the way. I look forward to coming here everyday not just because of the challenging workouts, but because the sense of community makes it feel like home.

Still LOVING this gym!!! The trainers, the workouts, the community built around it ! I can't say enough good things about this place!! Everyone motivates each other, trainers and members alike! Without it, I wouldn't still be going to an over-packed gym, not being able to use the weights I want and being so intimidated that I would just stay home. But instead, I've chosen the best place possible, feeling stronger than ever, and exercising more than I ever did before. If you want to try a gym that will tailor workouts to your level, but still push you to do things that you never thought possible, this is the place to go!

I've been going to this gym for a few months. The atmosphere and structure of the place is dope. Personally I've seen so much growth with myself in my health and my ability to "be better". The best part about this gym is that they push you without being invasive or over the top. The people that attend aren't "over the top" like aggressive gym people. You really feel a sense of community when you're here, it's great for your physical health but also your mental health too. Annnnndddddd it's Women owned too #liber8yourself

Super cute training studio. The owners are attentive and the workouts change daily. They offer intro specials as that is how I found out about this studio so I like the fact that they allow you to try before you commit to purchasing class packages. Music is fun and they play lots of remixes. They also make sure you have proper form when lifting and doing some of the circuit moves. You can tell they care about their clients and follow up to make sure you have a great experience.

Conveniently located on First Street and accessible 24 hours, the gym is clean and well-maintained. Occupying the entire ground floor of a building, it has a feeling of spaciousness about it. Doors that open to the small patio area, along with ceiling fans, enable good air circulation throughout the space. Fellow gym-goers are friendly and always willing to engage when you approach them about routines or exercises. No attitude at this place whatsoever. People are genuinely happy to share their successes and reflections on their own self-journeys to fitness, which makes the gym feel like not only a place the place where you can go to work out, but also a place where you can continually learn from other gym enthusiasts about ways to improve your own focus on physical improvement. A sense of a community among people with a common interest in health and fitness, and a willingness to share it, are two of of the most unique and notable characteristics of this gym. The owner, Keith Deidrich, pays meticulous attention to the gym's layout and functionality, resulting in a nice rotation of machines and weights throughout the space. It's exciting to come in to find a new machine, such as the very impressive cable crossover set up, complete with high bars for dead-hangs and pull-ups, or a one-of-a-kind lat pull-over machine that requires the force of your elbows, placed on pads and pushing down, to accomplish the exercise. It's like a squat machine for the upper body. In addition to the machines and freeweights, the gym has add-on weight blocks in gradations of two-and-a-half pounds that are custom-made to be inserted on top of the machine pulley racks to increase the resistance in smaller increments when the built-in 10- or 15-pound increases are too much of a step-up. Being able to use these blocks has enabled me to slowly increase the amount I'm lifting without making a jump up to a higher weight that is just too heavy. And there are plenty of cardio machines as well. In short, this neighborhood-centered gym with its relaxed vibe, excellent equipment, and friendly and respectful members makes working out a highlight of my daily schedule.

This gym offers a wide variety of bootcamp like classes with fantastic energy and some truly talented coaches. While there are a few who are overly egotistical and could use a come back to earth reality check and a touch more humility, the majority of the coaching staff is excellent. Two standouts are Gabrielle Y. and Christian Q., who make working out an absolute pleasure. Gabrielle's welcoming demeanor and contagious positivity create a great atmosphere, and Christian's coaching style is equally motivating and supportive. The classes themselves are high-energy, challenging, and adaptable to different fitness levels. What I love most is that each coach brings their unique style and energy to the table. Once you find the coach who resonate with you, it's easy to stick with them and stay consistent. The variety keeps things interesting, and you'll never get bored while working toward your fitness goals. One of the challenges, however, is parking. Since Lazy Acres put up signs claiming what feels like half the lot, finding a spot can be a headache. I've learned not to arrive too early because spots typically free up only once the previous class ends. While it can be frustrating to circle the lot, a little patience and timing go a long way. It's something to keep in mind when planning your visits. The gym itself could benefit from more regular cleaning and maintenance. A deep cleaning is definitely overdue, as dust, hair, and even cobwebs can be seen in corners. Some benches are rusty and could use replacing. While these issues don't take away from the quality of the workouts, they do detract from the overall experience. Many other gyms in the area have weekly professional cleaning services, which could be a great addition here to help maintain a fresher, more polished environment. Despite these minor drawbacks, Renegade remains a fantastic place to work out. The membership is reasonably priced, although ClassPass is still more affordable and offers lower price penalties for late cancellations. Overall, the quality of the classes and the dedication of standout coaches like Gabrielle and Christian make this gym worth checking out. If you're looking for a challenging yet welcoming environment to achieve your fitness goals, Renegade is a solid choice--just plan ahead for parking and connect with the coaches whose energy aligns with yours!
