I'd have to agree with other reviewers - this place is definitely a pretender. The rooms haven't seen an upgrade and possibly a good cleaning in 20 years. I chuckled at the Discman alarm clock that wasn't plugged in. We were initially given a 4th floor room right next to an ice machine that sounded like a jet engine after it sucked in a seagull. It was so loud we had to shout at each other in the room to be heard. Reception mentioned - it doesn't make that sound "all the time" when they moved us to the 2nd floor. Window coverings are broke and cannot be raised. I did use a clothes hanger to let some light in but I promise you our room hadn't seen fresh sunlight in two years. I didn't even look at the breakfast offerings. I've stayed in nicer Motel 6. read more

Nice, boutique type hotel in downtown Cleburne. Vintage 4 story design, similar to the US Grant in San Diego. Plenty of parking, and a very imposing lobby, lots of original looking features. Shops and restaurants in walking distance. Rooms are nice sized, comfortable beds, and the A/C and hot water were great. Only reason for docking stars, one elevator was out of service, so we had a bit of a hike to our room, and the rooms themselves are pretty basic in amenities. Pluses, manager on duty was very friendly and responsive to questions, no doubt he would have handled any issues if needed. read more

A "boutique" hotel is supposed to be hip and trendy, with upscale amenities, and luxurious. But not at the Liberty Hotel. Their definition is apparently old and rundown. That's not vintage. That's just squalor. I literally thought I was at the wrong place when I walked up to the building. The little side parking lot had one car in it. And the front of the building was boarded up. Inside looks dark and dingy. There were complete rooms off the lobby that looked like they were just being used for storage. The dining room was sparse and the breakfast was even sparser. I mean they had cereal but no milk, a few yogurts left out and some hard boiled eggs. The coffee was horrible. I'm not a coffee connoisseur by any means. I've drank coffee others have called swill. I've drank coffee that cleaned the rust off of a wrench. So when I say this coffee was horrible. It was in fact hoooorrrrible. Then of course, there's the matter of no hot water. And when I reported it after the desk clerk showed up at their desk she had no idea what to do. She at least called her manager at home who told me I needed to wait an hour for the boiler to fill up with hot water. Listen, you have 3 guests in the entire building, if your boiler can't keep up with that many guests it's time to invest in bigger boilers. And when I decided to finally break down after waiting over an hour, I had to take a wh0re's bath with the soap not much bigger than a bottle cap. And this will be funny for those who know Texas. The pool was closed. Closed. During the summer. In Texas. And apparently from reading other reviews, it's been closed since at least July. Ope, lets not forget the bugs. I know crickets are supposed to be good luck. But not when it jumps on your face as you lay in your bed. And the size of this room was ridiculous. The bed barely fit with little room to move around it. And the one window was blocked by the bed. The carpet was worn and even the walls were dirty! read more

Room 305's window coverings were broken. The front receptionist was lack luster on the verge of useless - not even on duty at 9pm on a Friday night. The AC would turn off due to an absurd motion/room occupancy sensor. How about spending some money making guests comfort a priority. Ah the swimming pool is out of service, well who needs a swimming pool in 90 degree heat anyway? The only 2 saving graces this hotel had was that it was in downtown Cleburne and that it had semi-covered parking. read more

We walked into an absolutely stunning, beautifully decorated lobby only to be followed by disappointment, discomfort and a not so clean room. On arrival, our room was uncomfortable and warm-it was early afternoon in mid April and we needed for it to be cool. There was no way to adjust the thermostat-up or down. Talked to the front desk and was told it was on a sensor and would cool down when we walked past it. Didn't really work. Our 2nd night I couldn't sleep due to the room being too warm. Thermostat always said 66°. It definitely wasn't because I would be shivering non-stop if it was. The front desk was unattended in the evening and throughout the night. If there was a problem, like with the a/c, there was no one to contact. Many items overlooked when it was cleaned. They provided a blue rag for makeup removal-smart idea. But the previous guests blue towel was still on the floor. The bathroom night light was on the floor also. But the worst was the wrapped condom behind the night stand. I found it very quickly. They should have too. It's probably still there. There was no soap to shower with. The only soap in the room was mango scented facial soap. The hubs got small hotel size body wash from someone running around in the downstairs area. I cannot use washes, so no bath for me. They had a nice step-in shower, which would have been nice to use. We were there 2 days. They do not have someone come clean the room or bring fresh towels and rags. I have no idea what you would do if you came back to the room late and needed clean towels. No one at the front desk to call. The room was small, quite different from pictures of spacious rooms on website. Furniture was attractive and good quality, but the pieces were oversized for such a small room. Big queen bed was hard to get into. It had a 7' long footboard (yes, I measured it.) that literally took up half the width of the room. We kept hitting our shins on the corner of it trying to go around it. I still have bruises 2 weeks later. TV was large but put out a lot of heat in a room with poor a/c. Should have been mounted to the wall. Instead, it sat on an oversized cabinet that was 6-7" out from the wall limiting ability to get around the bed without hitting the corner of the footboard. Breakfast was from 7-9am. We arrived at 7:25 the first day and the only thing out was sugary cereal and waffles. We assumed that was it. But a woman slowly but surely put the rest of the food out. It was 7:50 before she got everything out. This hotel is in the downtown area so I don't know how a business person would be able to eat there before going to work. The wallpaper in the room was very attractive. More like what you'd see in a nice home as opposed to a hotel. The carpeting was nice and well maintained. Not your typical hotel carpet. Halls smelled fresh. There was little room to store things. The only place to hang anything was a tiny closet behind the door in the bathroom. I felt like we were constantly tripping/stepping over stuff or moving it out of the way. The front desk staff was very friendly. The room was quiet-only hearing the train, cars or other guests a few times in the 2 days we were there. There was a nice shopping are with several antiques stores a few blocks away. Most of the parking is behind the hotel and across a street. Not really an issue. It was quick to get there and safe. There wasn't a place to eat dinner nearby. Everything in the downtown area shuts down well before dinner. I was really looking forward to staying here as it was closer to all the places we like to frequent during Antique Alley. I was really expecting more from a $125 a night room. We will stay elsewhere on our next visit or go back to our usual spot, where there is twice the room and about half the price. PROS: friendly staff, beautiful lobby, clean fresh halls, attractive rooms, quality furniture, antique shopping nearby. CONS: Not cleaned well. Condoms not spotted by cleaning crew, breakfast may not be ready, no one at front desk in the evening, small room, small closet that's hard to get too. A/C doesn't cool well. Oversized furniture with hazardous corners, rooms not cleaned during your visit, no fresh towels. read more

First, The good, good location, really nice renovation quite charming place. I stayed once before and had a great experience. Can't say that this time. General lack of caring and attention to detail. The place is getting run down. From the time we came in to the time we left. Starting with coming in late and they gave us the wrong key. OK no problem. We get into our room. It was dirty had hair and other things on our sheets, OK, no problem they came up and gave us new sheets and blankets . Then our bathroom toilet and shower area was also quite dirty . On our second day no hot water in the shower . I had mentioned it to the front desk lady. She basically shook her shoulders and said wow I was up at that time in the morning and I had hot water. That was the reason I'm writing this review this place has a ton of potential, but just a general lack of cleaning and caring really diminishes my opinion about this hotel. I hope that management makes some improvements so we can stay there again. I also hope that this review helps other people. read more

Pulled in and online showed rooms available for $85. Front desk told me lowest they had was $100 per night. Not a big deal, technology can be wrong. Upstairs the accommodations are adequate, not amazing, but I'm not exactly paying for amazing, am I? No refrigerator in room. All your other normal room amenities are there though. I guess no big deal. Then I slept in the bed. Squeaky, loud, and hard. Looks like a solid bed, but looks were deceiving. Fitness room was adequate, no broken machines, which is a plus. One towel for me and now they're out of towels. This was 530 am on a Tuesday. Go down for breakfast. Looks being deceiving again, looks standard. But the coffee dispenser, the only coffee dispenser, is broken. I tell the staff, they're apologetic but offer no other alternatives. I can't even unscrew the top and pour coffee?? Ok. There's a Keurig with no available pods. Lose again. Pool area outside looks well kept. I peek, and no lounge chairs. I inquire about getting one. Same type of answer. Sorry, but can't help you. So if I want to go relax outside, I can sit upright in the available wrought iron regular chairs, no laying down. Sweet. The hotel has been renovated and they did a great job. But service and attention to detail have been forgotten. The parking lot is about the size of two sheds put together. For the same environment, go to a cheaper hotel and save your money. read more

Our group stayed in a spacious 2 bed suite in this Beautiful hotel! Walking distance from the square. The second floor is wonderful because it is so bright and cheery with the sky light.There is no microwave in the room but there is one down the hall. The staff is so helpful and gave us ideas about where to head for dinner and lunch. The carpet is lovely. It is very light and I hope they can keep it clean from the gross guests. There were a few spots here and there on it. The only drawback that I had was the blinds. They are pretty but you can't really open them because it feels like you are going to break them. read more

I chose this hotel because it was the only one in the area that accepted the state rate with good reviews. I have been blown away by the superb service provided here at The Liberty. I was treated like a star when I checked in, and my room is clean and comfortable. But after a day of being iced in, I got a call on my room phone from the manager saying they had prepared a complementary dinner due to the weather. I went downstairs to find the front desk staff, the manager, and the host serving a home made spaghetti dinner to their guests. They all moved around the room, chatting and making sure that we were all ok, after being iced in. Fantastic customer care. I will stay here again. read more

Room we were given was a queen and we had reserved a king..room so small we hardly had room to get around the bed foot board..busted my shin twice and so did my spouse. The bathroom was so small you couldn't get two people to pass in it. The safe did not work, told the front desk and they said they would take care if it..didn't happen. Pillows very small and LUMPY. There is no daily bed making or clean linen every day..you have to request in advance. No handicap parking. breakfast was a joke..cereal and coffee was all that was being served st 7 AM. The coffee pot had only enough supplies for two people one day..was not replenished for day two. Booked a room in August and canceled it the next day. Later closer to our travel time when our plans were firm I reserved a room for two nights, it turns out they have a no cancellation policy so we had to pay for it too. The other reviews on this very nice, old but restored property give you a flavor of things. This is my second time at the Liberty, and I wish I had left a review last time so I could have looked for a better option this time around. The room was comfortable enough, and the staff are kind to a fault. The trains that pass by pretty frequently are enough to interfere with your sleep, though. That there are no in-room refrigerators and the poor wifi are not helpful either. It's breakfast that really ruins the day, though. The only non-carb option is boiled eggs, and like every other sensible person in the world, I find boiled eggs to be revolting. Just about every other hotel in the civilized world offers scrambled eggs and some kind of meat, or as diabetics like me call it, breakfast. My brother and I had to travel to Cleburne for a family medical emergency. We started at the Hampton Inn, but left due to mildewy smell in the room. We walked into the Liberty Hotel and were greeted with friendliness and enthusiasm by the manager, Nathan. He was sympathetic to our situation and happy to accommodate us. The room was wonderful! It was clean and spacious. The hotel was renovated to its original splendor. The lobby is lovely with 2nd floor balconies overlooking it. Small touches like the checkers game on the balcony and the friendliness of the staff make this place relaxing and enjoyable. This hotel is a gem in Cleburne. This hotel was the first stop on our week long vacation and it set the bar incredibly high for the ones to follow. It was amazing. This hotel doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside will blow you away. The woodwork is gorgeous and shined to a brilliant shine. The staff are friendly and helpful, engaging and down right fun!!!! The community looked wonderful and the epic small town Texas. If I could put a zero I would. First off, DON'T use the choice app to book this hotel. They post a cheap rate, then they raise it every 2 days. NO where on the app does it say this is what is going to happen. Now, I'm a Diamond member, I use the app every week, so.its not like I don't know how to use it. They got me for an extra $100 on a 6 night stay. Nothing I could do after they billed my CC the moment I checked in then got the invoice emailed to me 6 days later. No fridge or microwave in room. No one at the front desk, you had to call someone ecerytime and they would show up after a wait. Pillows are like they bought the from Super 8 surplus. Oh, next to BNSF railroad tracks too, I guess thats why you can't open the windows even though they are made to open. One of my window blinds was broke, wouldn't open. The Liberty Hotel was great! The hotel was built in 1924 and is super cool! The room was super big, updated, and very clean. They even left bath robes on the bed for us. They offer forgotten items free of charge at the front desk. The pool is small but nice and has a little waterfall that the kids loved. The breakfast is super simple but sufficient (muffins, yogurt, cereal, fruit, a Texas shaped waffle maker with toppings, fruit, toast, bagels, strudels, coffee and juice. Try the steak house next door called Cattle Guard. It was awesome! The front desk staff is amazing and will go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. We had to leave very early in the morning. The lady at the front desk got coffee and muffins ready for us to take since we were leaving before breakfast. read more

Re-visited this hotel in June, 2022. Had stayed before several times some time back. Avoid this hotel at all costs! Our room was dark, dingy and smelled like sweaty feet. It was room that was a king but had been converted to 2 queens. The room was not big enough for 2 beds, TV could only be viewed from 1 bed and although the room said 4 people, there were 2 coffee cups, 2 towels, etc. The shower had previously used soap melted on the shelf and left, the coffee pot had water in the back that smelled bad and the top was left open for dust to fall in. The front desk gave someone else a key to our room and around 11 PM they attempted to enter our room. We reported this all to the front desk and spoke to the manager who thought a $20 discount on our room should suffice!!! I sent a letter to corporate with absolutely NO response. Also, the front desk is not manned 24-7...you have to call another number to get any response/assistance. Completely ridiculous! Please, please, find another hotel and avoid this one!! read more

When I walked into the Liberty Hotel, I felt like I was walking back into time. What a treasure! I was told the hotel had been renovated, and whoever did so, did a terrific job---the original wood, the marble floors, the comfort and appointment of my room---I even loved the little metal dial above the elevator that showed the floors with a moving, arrowed hand. I was always greeted by name, whether coming back or leaving, and when I had a question about how to work the tv, the front desk sent someone up PRONTO. And she was hilarious and fixed the problem right away. I have never been to Cleburne, but I would go again just to stay in this hotel! LOVED it! Great people! read more
