Do not get distracted by people who look like they work for the terminal authority they are just trying to lock you in on a paid tour to Statue of Liberty. So just stay focus, and get in line for the free ride to Staten Island. Also don't panic these ferry boats are insanely big so you will find a spot to get the views you want. If you leave from NYC stick to the right side and go upstairs for the best photos. Once you've made it to Staten Island without any wait, you get off and roll back into another boat (SI To Manhattan) and do it all over again. If you still want to see the Liberty statue leaving from Staten Island, stick to the left. From Manhattan to SI stick to the right and try to get on the second floor. If you want to explore what's around the area a short walk will take you to Wall Street, you'll see the bull and Trinity Church (where Hamilton and Eliza and Philip are buried). Also with going inside the church even with their very strict security check -- we had to even take Apple Watches which was a first but I'm all about safety so whatever they ask, I'll gladly do it. So if near Wall Street make Trinity Church a stop just like that silly snatching bull! ;)

This one operates from the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway in front of the main Harborside building, making it very convenient for those who work in Harborside or live in Urby. It doesn't seem fully complete yet, but today is their first day of operation. I just wish they had later hours and operated on the weekend. Also, similar to the Paulus Hook ferry, they only run to midtown during commute hours, and I think a few boats to midtown in the afternoon would be nice. Those complaints aside, like I said, I can never truly hate on more public transportation. NY Waterway boats are nice and comfortable, generally well kept, and obviously you can't beat the views from this ferry trip. It's quite a bit pricier than the PATH, but if you're a tourist or have people from out of town visiting, it's a ride you should definitely take.

NY Waterway has very old (built in 1998) and decrepit ferries docking there only to drum up foot traffic for McCali's new waterfront project (currently an empty pointless space). The terminal often has broken ticket machines, and does not look very safe. There are men constantly repairing what appears to be a temporary and hastily constructed structure. You have to wait for the ferry in the rain, snow, or sweltering sun, when there is a perfectly good terminal building, with restrooms, and more connections five minutes away in Paulus Hook. I suspect that the only reason the rickety terminal even exists is because, according to the New York Times, NJ Transit subsidizes additional NY Waterway routes, even when they make no sense, and even when the service is very bad. Tax subsidized corporate greed and bad service.

He went out of his way to make sure I got incredible photos and made my milestone birthday extra special. Loved walking up to the crown, but it was steep/twisty so definitely research prior to committing to the crown! Ellis Island was amazing with the incredible exhibits and deep history. We ended up getting onto the Battery Park ferry at the end so we could do some self touring in lower manhattan. It was super convenient as at the end of our day we were able to take the NJ PATH from One Trade directly across to Jersey City. The only negative around Statue City , and it's not really their negative was the security staff (literally ALL of them) at the Liberty Park Ferry. Security more stringent than TSA , my husband had a lighter confiscated that was sentimental and the staff themselves would not make eye contact and were incredibly curt/rude. Apparently after chatting with various people across the Hudson, this group has an actual reputation for rudeness.
