Do not get distracted by people who look like they work for the terminal authority they are just trying to lock you in on a paid tour to Statue of Liberty. So just stay focus, and get in line for the free ride to Staten Island. Also don't panic these ferry boats are insanely big so you will find a spot to get the views you want. If you leave from NYC stick to the right side and go upstairs for the best photos. Once you've made it to Staten Island without any wait, you get off and roll back into another boat (SI To Manhattan) and do it all over again. If you still want to see the Liberty statue leaving from Staten Island, stick to the left. From Manhattan to SI stick to the right and try to get on the second floor. If you want to explore what's around the area a short walk will take you to Wall Street, you'll see the bull and Trinity Church (where Hamilton and Eliza and Philip are buried). Also with going inside the church even with their very strict security check -- we had to even take Apple Watches which was a first but I'm all about safety so whatever they ask, I'll gladly do it. So if near Wall Street make Trinity Church a stop just like that silly snatching bull! ;)

For food options, I would recommend getting stuff outside here, as this spot is all fast food chains like Subway or Wendy's, aside from an alright deli. The views are nice, the ferries leave on time, and it's free. Hard not to like this place, even with the obvious issues.

It was a lovely afternoon, so we climbed the stairs to the top deck and sat outside. The view was lovely and it was really fun to point out the different buildings to my daughter who hasn't spent too much time in the city. Especially loved seeing Brooklyn and Dumbo from the water, and going under the bridges. I'd definitely recommend the NYC Ferries as an alternative to the subway, especially when the sun is shining!

There are six different routes. Ours was the "Astoria Line" which culminates at Wall Street. Before getting off at 34th Street, the boat stopped in Astoria, Roosevelt Island and Long Island City. One can purchase tickets on the app, or through machines located at every depot. I was advised to activate our ticket right before boarding to maximize the free transfer, valid for 120 minutes (which we actually didn't need on this trip.) The one-way fare is $4.50 or $29 for a ten-trip pass. Seniors, and those with disabilities can apply for discounted fares. There's limited seating outside, with more down below. Also, a bar! Apparently, you can take your dog which my grandpup Hank, takes full advantage of.

We approached and asked to buy a ticket and they mentioned you can't buy tickets from them. You need to buy the tickets out front. We ask where is out front and were pointed to a general direction. We ask for clarification and were told "look, look" with a finger pointed in a direction. Alright we decide just to walk down and after a bit we saw a couple of people line up at a machine that was beside a store. We may have missed it if there wasn't a lineup. We buy 2 tickets, which I have to say was a really reasonable price and head back to the line. We jump in line and notice the times for it were a bit later. We head back to info to ask if there's a schedule for the ferry or if anything would come before the departure time we saw. They told us we could line up in a second line and the ferry should be there in about 15 minutes. It's not obvious each of the lines which direction the ferry is going. We lined up and hopped on the next ferry in no time. All this to say, the ticket machine is out front by the store before the pier. If you're not sure which line you should be on, ask the staff, they're pretty good with which ferry you need to hop on and good luck!

We purchased our tickets back in January for an April visit. The Crown Tickets are limited. When I checked the day prior it was all sold out, so we got pretty lucky to have it available on the day we were in town. My friends who live in New York said they haven't even had the opportunity to check out the Crown. The Crown Reserve tickets ($32.80/adult) include ferry access to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, which are two separate stops. There is NO CANCELLATION on these tickets. And no transferring from one person to another. You have to put in the name of person for the tickets, and they check ID upon arrival and ticket pick up. You can embark this tour from the NJ or NY side. We came from the NY side, and had to pick up our tickets at Battery Park at will call. They pick up location was a bit out of the way from where the lines are. I'm REALLY ANNOYED that they pushed my time back half an hour from what I booked online. And when I went to the line they told me to COME BACK IN 30 min to GET INTO A LONG ENDLESS LINE. The whole experience was waiting... Waiting in line to get through security check point. Wait in another line to get onto the ship for the ferry. Wait wait wait... The returning trips have similar stories... Wait wait wait for the ship to come back and get you. All of their lines are thick and un managed so if people are aggressive, people behind you can easily push their way through in front of you. I'm not a fan of their lacking structure. 10:34 am Arrive at Battery Park 10:47 am Pick up Tickets at Will Call 11:00 am Told to come back at 11:30 11:30 am Get in Line for Screening 12:13 pm Finally get onto the Cruise Ship 12:28 pm Arrive at Statue of Liberty island (skipped museum in the interest of time) 1:15 pm Climbed to the top of the Crown 2:30 pm Arrive at Ellis Island 3:52 pm Finally Get Back to NY I have no desire to come back. I had to ask an officer for directions, so hopefully this helps another first timer. There wasn't anyone at the ticket booth when I arrived, but there were multiple QR codes posted to purchase tickets online. The process was simple and quick. I definitely recommend adding the tickets to your phone's virtual wallet so they're easy to pull up while boarding. The staff on both trips were super friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The ferry itself was clean, punctual, and not crowded during my travels, which made the ride really relaxing. I sat by the windows on the second deck for the skyline and Statue of Liberty views. For anyone interested, the best views were on the right side heading to NJ and the left side coming back to NYC. There's also an open-air top deck which was really nice. Tickets were $29.99 each way, and overall I thought it was a great experience. I would definitely use Seastreak again.
