A week later, my skin became painful, raw, and the top layer was visibly peeling. I sent photos to the clinic and was told this was "normal" and to continue my post care. It wasn't. My skin barrier was broken, and following their advice meant applying an acid product to open wounds. Within two days, I developed severe chemical burns across my back, chest, and neck. My skin is now scarred and significantly worse than before I ever contacted Bellair. It didn't end there. My in‑person assessment with Dr. Pugen was switched to virtual while I was already on my way, making it useless. As I cried through the appointment, he suggested laser treatment even though both my dermatologist and Bellair's own coordinator said it would be high‑risk for my skin type. Two follow‑up calls were scheduled; nobody called me either time and I had to call the clinic to make the appointments happen. The clinic also took very personal "before" photos of my bare chest and back, then later claimed they COULDN'T FIND THEM and they were never uploaded due to "wifi issues." They use iPads with internal storage, so this makes no sense. The violation of patient privacy is truly baffling. When I requested a refund from the director, Oscar Amar, he dragged it out for 19 days, insisted they "did nothing wrong," and eventually offered a partial refund of no specified amount. After everything, it was like a slap in the face. What happened to me here was NOT OKAY. Period. It was dangerous, negligent, and deeply unethical. Proceed with extreme caution. I initially went in for a consultation on getting a really stubborn nose wart removed. My first impression was that the facility was very impressive, well kept, and sparkling clean. They greeted me and offered complimentary coffee and chocolates. Then I found out that they also offered mole removal - something that I've been meaning to look into. They gave me a VERY reasonable quote for each service, explained the procedure, and informed me that each treatment would include a complimentary follow up appointment. I was a little suspicious of the cost because in life you usually "get what you pay for", but I decided to take a risk and called them back to schedule an appointment. I signed a waiver before treatment began. I followed their post treatment instructions and the wart fell off about 3-4 days later. I went for the follow up appointment and it was as if the wart was never there! This was a huge sigh of relief for me because I had been dealing with this wart on my nose for years! For some reason my skin is prone to growing warts over time, so I went back to NewDermaMed at least 2 more times to get new warts removed. One of them was larger than usual but they quoted me the same price as the smaller warts for being so loyal to them. Now for the moles. I had two of them on my face that hurt my self esteem for a very long time. Both the wart and mole removal used the same procedure so they costed the same price. The moles did go away after two follow ups (they did not charge me for a third treatment on the moles) but unfortunately I'm not as happy with the results as there are scars in place of the moles now. However, this was nothing that I did not expect, as they outlined in the waiver that I signed that scarring may occur post treatment. Just be aware that scarring may occur if you do decide to have a mole removed. One thing that didn't go unnoticed here is that they didn't pressure me into making a decision on the spot. Customers often worry about getting harassed with the upselling of services, and I respect the ladies at NewDermaMed for allowing me some time and space to think about it. After the consultation, they emailed me a copy of the quote, and I was free to walk out and make a decision on my own. Evidently, I came back to get the services done (and more!!). Like the rest of Yonge and Sheppard, parking is paid but if you love Whole Foods then you're in luck! Just grab a bite to eat for $15 after your appointment and you'll be able to park there. Overall, my experience with NewDermaMed has been very positive, and I would recommend their services to others. I was a little wary because of the reviews that previous Yelpers have left. However, I believe that the staff at NewDermaMed have heard their voices. They've stepped up their game and I didn't run into any issues that were outlined by previous Yelpers. I was also informed that the package would be nonrefundable. I agreed and purchased the package. Some days later during the 1st procedure I was asked if any of the hair being lasered were blond or white! I informed her yes. She then informed me that laser would not work on white or blond hair. I was shocked and asked her why she did not inform me of this during the initial consultation and she replied that she didn't think the question was polite! However, it was polite to ask that very question during the 1st procedure!! After several days of feeling quite cheated I contacted Mint Laser to discuss the issue. I spoke to Alexandra, the owner who informed me that the package was non-refundable but I was welcome to use it for some other service. I informed her that I did not want any other service and because I was misled would prefer a refund. She hung up on me! I later wrote Mint laser looking for a favorable outcome however I never got one. Eventually, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau who contacted Mint laser however their response was the same: she purchased a non-refundable package. I pointed out that this was not the reason why I was disputing the purchased but the fact that I was misled into purchasing a package that would not work for me. Eventually, Mint laser refused to respond to the BBB and therefore the case was closed. The case is now with Consumer Protection. Stay tuned.....
