Ok, so this is going to be a long review, but totally worth reading if you have horrible eyesight like I did. I had horrible, horrible eyesight & if you're telling yourself you do too, wait till you hear my old prescription. 'cause I had to live over 10+ years with this degree listening to people with -1 or even -.5 tell me how bad their vision was. cue rolling eyes. I was a -11 & -12 in my left & right eye respectively. Now you can gasp & go, "holy sh*t". that's right. I was pretty much blind. If I didn't have glasses or contacts in, my whole world was one giant blurry mess. I couldn't make out distinctive items & I sure as hell couldn't identify a human being from one another. Funny enough, I never looked into laser eye surgery because I didn't know if I qualified. I originally went to TLC laser eye surgery (where they wasted my time and told me I would not qualify for laser eye surgery due to my high degree). So, I had to call around & actually ask clinics if they took in high degree patients. Spoiler alert, a lot of places do not due to the high risk factor involved with taking in high degree patients. You basically burn off a lot of your eye tissue to even get you to a better degree. Now I wasn't expecting anything wild, but anything is better than what I was at. I finally called Liberty Laser Eye Center after reading a review about how this one patient with a high degree was able to get to -.75 after her surgery. She was just about the same degree set as me & was going on over a few years after surgery. Naturally, I had to call them & make sure they still took in patients with my degree. Dr. Tanchel was so ready to work with me & to see what she could do for me. She never pressured me, but gave me a ton of information on the procedure itself. Spoiler alert - I went through with it. I could only qualify for PRK - which is the original laser eye surgery before LASIK came out. PRK is the procedure where they scrub the top layer of your eye ball & then shoot a laser into your eye. I will say during my procedure, I was pretty nervous. She put in numbing eye drops in my eyes & I had to wait a few minutes for it to set. Weirdest feeling to have your eyes numbed. I had my right eye done first & then my left. The system started recalibrating before they began on my left eye. Omgosh. So, so turns out the numbing drops don't last a long time. After the system recalibrated, they pulled me back into the room. I felt her scrub my eye ball, whooo, weirdest feeling ever. She thankfully put in extra drops in my eye & I felt so much more relief. Each eye took about a minute to complete & each time it just felt like I was looking into a red dot. Afterwards, I left a little blind. I could see right after for a split second before my vision went blurry. I ended up sleeping in my closet for a whole week & that was nice. I was constantly tired & sleeping. If I was sleeping, I was putting in my medicated eye drops & regular eye drops to keep my eyes hydrated ('cause I just had them burned off by a laser.). It's been over six years, and to say I am happy is understated. I am beyond thrilled that I can see. I am ecstatic that I can wake up in the middle night without being blind to my surroundings. Took my money for nothing :( I consulted here for LASIK, they took a $250 charge to hold my appointment/discount my price, two days before the surgery they called and said the machine ran a software update and wasn't working so I would need to reschedule, I waited and waited and kept calling with no update available until finally I scheduled somewhere else, I called to get my money back and the lady at the front desk said she would have to ask the doctor, since then I've called to ask for a updates and still nothing. It's been 3 weeks since I first asked for a refund of money I paid for a service they couldn't provide and I keep getting told there is no update. I can't speak for the quality of their work but I can say it's been difficult to get any information or my money back. read more

If you value your eyesight, do not go to Liberty Laser Eye. I came here many years ago for Lasik. Any future adjustments were at no cost to me so I continued to come for yearly check ups. The last two adjustments have only made my eyesight worse. The doctor pulled a lens off my eye yesterday that had been placed after a PRK procedure and pulling the lens out it felt like she took a splinter and stuck it in my eye. It was so painful, I called her office yesterday afternoon after I got home and the numbing drops wore off and her receptionist told me she was in an appointment and would call me back. She never called back. She has yet to call back even today. I was in tears the pain was so bad. My recommendation is that you go somewhere else to have your eyes taken care of. read more

Finally gave in and had lasik done. 22 years I've worn glasses and decided one day, I've had enough. Hubby had his done by Dr. Tanchel and he loves being specs free so I came in for a consultation and scheduled the procedure a week later. Dr. Tanchel is very thorough and talks you through every step from start to finish. She runs a test during consultation and maps you're eyes again the day of. The procedure itself took only seconds, you definitely feel the pressure while she preps your eyes but no pain when the laser is creating a flap or reshaping your cornea. The most pain you'll ever feel is the tape that holds your eyes open is getting peeled off. You will however smell tissue burning and the gnarly sound of laser as it passes over your eyeball is nerve wracking. I'm glad I called for a script of Valium and filled it on my way to the clinic. It definitely took the edge off even though both eyes were done in less than 5 minutes. I was able to see right away although I was extremely sensitive to the light, it was amazing how blind (OD 600, OS 550) I was but instantaneously post lasik my vision was clear and I could see without glasses. It's been 3 months since and my vision is getting better everyday as my eyes continues to heal. The only downside is they get extremely dry especially when I forget to do the preservative free lubricant. I had dry eyes to begin with so it was to be expected. The light still bothers me but getting better each day. The halos and glare when driving at night are also diminishing. I hid behind my glasses for decades but I'm so happy I got my peepers fixed. I love waking up in the morning not having to feel around for my glasses anymore. read more

I turned to Liberty Laser Eye Center after being completely turned off by the condescension and rudeness of TLC Laser Eye Center in Tyson's Corner. That's neither here nor there, so... *consult* I was immediately impressed by the customer service and high level of professionalism on my consultation visit alone. Travis (the technician who assists with your surgery) was the first person I spoke with at Liberty, via phone, and I immediately felt a sense of warmth overcome me, relieved that this place seemed different than other big conglomerate businesses in the LASIK field. At the clinic consult, Dr. Tanchel (the surgeon and owner) and Travis answered every single one of my questions with ease and a smile, and throughout the entire (free) consultation process. Dr. Tanchel and the team here is fantastic. Dr. Tanchel is very patient and attentive to your questions and concerns. I had my procedure completed almost a year ago and my vision somehow gets better and better with each exam. My husband got his eyes done about a month after me. Prior to the procedure, you have a complete consultation with Dr. Tanchel on what your needs are and how the procedure will be accomplished based on your current eye condition. They also allow you to view a video of the procedure so you have a good idea of what to expect on your big day. Each eye takes about a minute to correct, amazing! I had my eye surgery in Jan 2015. Went for my follow up in July and I am still seeing 20/15! It was a great choice. I can't speak for other LASIK centers that exist but after reading Yelp reviews about how salesy some can be and sometime downright rude I decided to come here. I have been wanting LASIK for quite a while now. As soon as I saw the LivingSocial deal for Liberty Laser Eye Center I bought it, and I couldn't be more pleased with my results. Dr. Tanchel and her team are really wonderful. They answered all of my questions and genuinely cared that I understood everything. There is a consultation before the surgery, the surgery day, check up day after surgery, check up a week after surgery, check up a month after surgery, and a couple more after that. Day of the surgery: The receptionist tells you all your post op instructions. She gives you a little pouch filled with goggles to sleep in, your prescription eye drops you brought in with you, some tissues, and some sunglasses. She also gives you a number to call at any time if you ever experience any issues. During the actual surgery Dr. Tanchel explains everything that she is doing. I personally like this because it helps make you feel more comfortable about the whole process. Also, her assistant counts down during each part of the process so you know how long each step will take. It's a quick procedure (as I'm sure you've heard). Nothing hurts, but there is a little bit of pressure. I think the hardest part was trying to focus on that red light! I just wanted to close my eyes. Afterwards, Dr. Tanchel checks your eyes really quick to make sure everything looks okay, hands you your sunglasses, and then you're on your way home! They warn you that it will be uncomfortable for a couple hours after surgery and that you should try to nap as soon as you get home. Right when I got home was when the uncomfortable part set it, and my eyes burned a little. It was difficult to fall asleep but I did end up getting a short nap in. I came in for the consultation and scheduled the surgery 2 weeks later. I had my lasik surgery 3 days ago. It's the best decision I've ever made. It feels great not having to worry about contacts! She comforted me by walking me through the whole procedure and reassured me that everything is going great. I had been wanting to get Lasik for the longest time since I have been wearing glasses since I was a little girl, but haven't had much luck. I went to one Lasik place (not Liberty) in Alexandria that claimed to do price matching, but last minute they changed their mind and tried to charge me a couple of thousand dollars extra so I did not go through the procedure with them. It was such a relief to find Liberty Laser Eye Center. They are very honest and upfront with you. They'll give you a free consultation to let you know if you'd be a good candidate for the procedure. It was nice to know what was going on, especially during the actual procedure itself. I purchased a deal through Groupon for Lasik eye surgery with Liberty Laser Eye Center in April of 2013. I contacted Liberty Laser Eye Center and scheduled my initial consultation appointment in May 2013. The appointment took approximately 90 minutes and was extremely comprehensive. As a result of the thorough tests and examination it was determined that I was an excellent candidate for laser eye surgery. Dr. Nancy Tanchel gave me some literature detailing the specifics of the procedure and wrote a couple of prescriptions for medications that would be necessary. After a very busy summer, I called in September to schedule the laser eye procedure. The receptionist asked if they could speak with the doctor and call me back. When they called back I was told that the Groupon I had purchased had expired and I would now be required to pay an additional $1300.00 for the procedure I had already paid for. I was completely shocked and had no idea what to do at that point. I decided to write a very nice email directly to Dr. Tanchel explaining that I did not understand how the Groupon I had paid $2500.00 for had expired. I asked if there was some sort of a compromise we could reach because I did not have an additional $1300.00 to pay. The email was not returned. I decided to call and discuss it with her. Perhaps we could split the difference and I could pay an additional $650.00? My call was forwarded to her voice mail where I left a very nice and detailed message that was not returned. During the following 3 weeks I left 3-4 voicemail messages and did not ever receive a call back. Unsure of what to do I contacted Groupon and was told that they would contact Liberty Laser Eye Center to see if they could help straighten out the situation. Several managers at Groupon agreed that a Groupon voucher that had been previously redeemed for its full amount by the provider could not be considered expired. After several conversations with Liberty Laser Eye Center, Groupon reported that they were unable to convince Dr. Tanchel that it was not acceptable to charge an additional $1300 for a service that had been paid in full already. They confirmed that Liberty Laser Eye Center redeemed the Groupon immediately following my original appointment in May. I must say that Groupon was great to work with and they ended up refunding my full amount of purchase. I cannot vouch for Dr. Tanchel's credentials as an ophthalmologist since I did not have the Lasik procedure performed, but I will definitely say that her business practices are suspect at best. I love Dr. Tanchel and Travis at Liberty Eye Center. While my vision was not that bad (-2.50)- I was really tired of wearing glasses and contacts so I decided to start shopping around the area for lasik surgery. The going standard for lasik in this town is around $5000 which was about $2000 more than what I was willing to pay since I knew that I could go back to California and pay that much plus I would be getting a free trip out of it essentially. So I gave myself a 3 month window to shop around and do some homework. I did my internet research and found some good deals here and there but most of the places I found were in Baltimore, Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, etc which would have made it a pain to travel to for follow-up appointments. I first went to LasikPlus and was quoted $3500 but I never got to meet the doctor and the employees were essentially trained robots who pushed each client through an assembly line type of screening. In fact, my quote was printed off the computer from the receptionist after plugging in a bunch of my information- she had no power to negotiate or make any deals whatsoever. I was also recommended to do PRK instead of Lasik which I wasn't so sure about. Then, as if the clouds of heaven parted- I saw the Groupon deal for Liberty Eye Center. After the rave reviews I purchased the deal and it really is as good as everyone on Yelp says it is. The deal is comprehensive so I didn't have to pay anything extra to them (Note: you will have to purchase special drops before your operation at the drug store). Dr. Tanchel said that I was a candidate for lasik and did not understand why I was ever considered to be only a PRK candidate. How interesting! So I had my lasik procedure done last Thursday and I went back for a follow-up on Friday with 20/15 vision! I had no complications whatsoever and the procedure was painless but just uncomfortable/weird (I was surprised by how loud the machine was and the smell). I don't think that I even bled since it was a bladeless procedure and the laser does everything. Plus my husband got to watch the whole thing from the glass viewing room which was really neat for him. Frankly, the worst part is overcoming your own fears but 10 minutes for a lifetime of perfect vision is well worth it. Dr. Tanchel and Travis are both so professional and friendly. She is so sweet and one smart lady (John Hopkins undergrad/ Emory med school y'all). I would recommend Liberty to anyone in a heartbeat- and I bought the Groupon through ebates so I got like another $75 cashback. Boo yah! My only recommendation is to schedule an procedure earlier in the day since you don't want to be stuck in traffic when you want to get home and rest. And hope you like Seinfeld. read more

I have been considering LASIK surgery for about a year. I am 44 and have needed glasses and (later) contacts for the last 30 years. I had consultations at several LASIK offices in the area and even scheduled my surgery at LASIK Plus before I found Liberty Eye Center. Dr. Tanchel and her technician Travis were amazing - unlike some of the bigger (and more "glamorous") LASIK centers, your experience was personal and individualized from start to finish. Dr. Tanchel and Travis were with me for every appointment and returned every phone call. They were continuously concerned about my concerns and my comfort. And when I decided that I wanted to try mono vision the day before my scheduled surgery, they got me in and let me try glasses to determine if I would be a good candidate. Though my very last minute appt was just with Travis, Dr. Tanchel stayed to see what I thought and if I had any questions. This is in stark contrast to other LASIK offices where you don't meet the surgeon until a few minutes before the surgery. After my surgery (which went smoothly and was completely painless), I went home to rest and Dr. Tanchel called to see how I was feeling that evening. Have been procrastinating for a while about getting LASIK done, did a lot of research and I'm glad I ended up going here and getting it done. No nonsense, no hassle, super nice and friendly. I bought a Groupon here earlier this year, and it was the best decision of my life. The people at Liberty Laser were very attentive and thorough throughout the entire process. My mom was even able to watch the procedure looking through an observation window! I was especially impressed by how Dr. Tanchel handled the procedure itself. I had not been nervous about the procedure for the entire time leading up to it, however, just as I sat down in the chair and saw the machines, I got very very nervous. However, Dr. Tanchel talked soothingly throughout for the entire duration of the procedure, explaining what she was doing, giving direction when necessary, and assuring me that I was doing well and everything was working perfectly. I was so thankful for her constant reassurance throughout the process. I am very particular about my vision, and for the month or so after the procedure, I was constantly reevaluating my "new" vision and how it compared to my "old" vision with glasses. Sometimes I thought my vision was inconsistent, and I found it annoying at times and absolutely distressing at others. But she assured me that that was normal, explained that much of that was due to dryness and the general healing process, and sure enough, my vision is stable and absolutely wonderful all the time (except when my eyes are dry at the beginning and end of day, but that's how our eyes normally are). I have not experienced any excessive dryness or any other problems. I can hardly believe that I ever wore glasses. It has been incredibly liberating to not have to wear glasses (because I hated wearing contacts, so those weren't an option), and I've found that I actually don't miss wearing glasses like I thought I might. When I do want to wear glasses, I have a cute pair with simple glass lenses. I get the best of both worlds!! UPDATE: It's January 2016, and I still see perfectly. I wore prescription glasses for 37 years and my only regret is why I did not do lasik earlier. My right eye is 20/25 and my left eye is 20/20. Now I can go swimming under water and can see everything clearly with my goggles also when it rains I don't have to remove my prescription glasses anymore and best of all I can wear cool sunglasses. I came to Liberty Eye Center though an internet service called Amerisight. The surgery did not hold and required three touch ups on each eye (an addition cost of $200/eye x 6 to perform the surgery again. Eventually I was in need for the 4th tough up at which time Dr Tanchel would not honor Amerisight's contract and sent me away. My eyesight is very poor and she will not help me correct my vision. It is very frustrating. I entered the agreement believing my vision would be good for life and now I have to suffer the consequences of a dishonored contract. I do not recommend this LASIK shop to anyone. read more

I just had my Lasik procedure with Dr. Tanchel a week ago and so far so good! Dr. Tanchel and her team are extremely thorough, taking every precaution and explaining what each machine does and why it is necessary. She and Travis made me feel very comfortable during the actual procedure- she even called me several hours after the surgery to see how I was doing! I had lasik surgery from Dr. Tanchel in 2012. I have had no sideeffects. Now, in 2018, my optometrist mentioned that my Lasik surgery had minimal scarring and my vision is still 20/20. Highly recommend. Two of my other friends went to Dr. Tanchel and reported no problems. Great results! read more

Liberty Laser Eye Center in Vienna, VA is the only place that I went to in this area where I met the surgeon during my consultation and all other appointments too. Dr. Tanchel, Travis, and Bree are the nicest people and they are all very thorough and answered all my questions truthfully. Dr. Tanchel was the first doctor to honestly tell me that due to my age I would most likely need reading glasses (but not a prescription kind, the readers you can buy at almost any store for $10 or less) and LASIK could not correct that for me at this time. Travis was very thorough and kind during all my testing and explained what each test was measuring so Dr. Tanchel could honestly assess my eligibility and the appropriate technique to use should I be eligible. All my questions were answered and no one was condescending or treated me poorly over any question either I or my husband asked. Based on my honest answers to her she and I agreed that monovision surgery was probably not the best option for me. Dr. Tanchel does not have you use unnecessary drops or has any hidden fees when you are given her rates. Dr. Tanchel is very experienced and her staff (Travis and Bree) are all wonderful. After one of the most complete eye exams I have ever had in my life Dr. Tanchel stated I was eligible for all laser Z-LASIK. No one pressured me to make a decision right away either. Dr. Tanchel and Travis both stated to take my time and do my research to ensure this was the procedure with me and everyone made me feel comfortable and reassured that Dr. Tanchel could truly correct my vision. I had a -5.75/-1.75 in my left eye and -5.25/-1.50 in my right. After doing research prior I put my deposit down right away and scheduled my procedure for Dec. 16, 2013. I have to confesses after further research, more questions, and some scary stuff I read on the internet I almost called off my surgery and forfeited the deposit. But again, Travis and Bree (who had the procedure performed herself) both answered my questions honestly and completely. I researched some of the things they brought up and started to feel a lot better about having this type of procedure performed. I discovered the Z-LASIK flap procedure and custom all-laser LASIK was much safer than procedures done in the past using blade procedures, and that the newer excimer lasers are much faster and accurate than ever before. These advances which are used by Dr. Tanchel are what makes it so people with moderate astigmatisms and higher prescription needs get treatment and reduces the more negative side effects of LASIK such as halos,starbursts, etc. Day of surgery - I was scared! Dr. Tanchel, Travis, and Bree made me feel very comfortable, safe, and cared for during the entire process. Dr. Tanchel is my kind of person, she is a no nonsense doctor who is polite and very to the point. There was nothing done that I was not made aware of what was happening, or even for how long it would happen. At no point was I left wondering what was going on or any touch I didn't know was going to come. They performed some of the scans that were done during the consult right before the surgery so the lasers could be programmed to my specific needs the day of the surgery. Then I was taken back into a room where I was asked to put on surgical booties and a cap. Travis cleaned my eye area and administered the drops to numb my eyes. All the time Dr. Tanchel was there observing and talking to me. Then they took me into the room where they did the surgery. This looks worse than it feels to you as the patient. I did not feel anything! Dr. Tanchel and Travis were always talking to me or counting down times so I would know what was happening and for how long. The entire procedure was about 10 minutes for both eyes. But let me warn you, when the excimer laser is reshaping the cornea (not the flap creation) it was a little loud and it smelled. The smell reminded me of when my blow dryer gets too much hair in the moter and is going bad. While I could see without my glasses right after the procedure it was like I was looking through a glass of water all the time. Bree walked me through my post-op instructions before the surgery and ensured I didn't have any questions prior to my departure. My husband was able to watch Dr. Tanchel and Travis perform the procedure from the viewing windows. I took Dr. Tanchel's advice and went home and slept for about 2.5 hours. By the time I made the 20 minute trip home my eyes did have a very mild burning and they felt like there was something in them like an eyelash, but that was gone when I woke up. My vision on the next day's follow up appointment was 20/30 in the right eye and 20/35 in the left. A week later I was at 20/20 right and 20/25 left. I had my surgery in December of 2015. It has been almost a year and my eyesight is amazing!!! You don't understand... The prescription to my eye glasses was -9. I was blind without my eyeglasses. The only way I can describe my vision is like when you go to the pool and open your eyes underwater. That was my vision!! I actually went to another major lasik center in the area, and they made me feel like I was another number. It wasn't personal... I honestly saw the doctor for 3 minutes max!! And that was a 1 hour appointment. That appointment turned me off of lasik for over 3 years until I went to Liberty. My experience with Dr. Tanchel was completely different. She took her time to talk me and provided me all the information I needed. She made me feel comfortable with the surgery. I had PRK done and the healing process was long. But way worth it!! One of the best investments I have made. I was very nervous about this type of procedure, after all I only have one pair of eyes. After thinking it over for a long time I decided to do LASIK. I am very satisfied with the treatment I've received from the Liberty Laser Eye Center in Vienna,VA. I went through what I felt was a thorough consultation to determine my candidacy and was informed I was a candidate and what type of procedure would need to be done for successful outcomes. I was then instructed to not wear contacts for a period of time until the day of my procedure which was completed last Wednesday (5 Days Ago). I went in for my procedure, filled out some paperwork and then went through another pre-op examination to make sure they had the correct information going in. After that I went into the procedure a little nervous but felt at ease by the staff who were professional and kept me informed of everything going on. Dr. Tanchel kept talking to me throughout the entire procedure letting me know exactly what was happening and easing any anxiety although after the first few seconds I had already begun to relax. The hardest part of the procedure for me was trying to concentrate on the blinking lights. Now five days into the recovery period I am taking eye drops frequently as instructed and two types of prescription eye drops for a short period. However, after the first day my eyes felt pretty normal except for minor dryness and I can see clearly which makes the procedure completely worth it. I purchased a coupon from LivingSocial for Z_LASIK provided by Liberty Laser Eye. When I had my appointment I was told that I could use the discounted price from LivingSocial because of the amount of correction that was needed, which is not in the fine print. My only option was to use the coupon to help cover part of the cost for the procedure and the new total was twice as much. After doing a lot of research I found this to be untrue. Z-LASIK is just a marketing term from one manufacturer. It uses the same technique as most LASIK operations today. SO RUDE!! I had LASIK surgery at the Vienna, VA location in July 2014. The surgery went fine, albeit, quite anxiety provoking. I did not need to hear every step Dr. Nancy Tanchel was doing, especially about the cutting of the flap, pulling it over, placing it back in place with a suction cup....blah. I'm not exactly 20/20 but I don't need glasses or contacts. YAY. I bought a Groupon for $2,699 which includes a year follow-up. Once my surgery was over and my last appointment was done, it was March 23, 2015. I received a piece of paper stating they would call me in a year for my follow-up visit. They did not call. Why? Because they have high receptionist turnover and I must have slipped through the cracks. Got to love Google calendar because I got the reminder, called them, and made the appointment for March 30, 2016. They called me one hour before the appointment to confirm. When I got there, they told me that it has been past one year and would not do a follow-up. REALLY?? Dr. Tanchel was so rude when she sent away.How long would it have taken her to do a quick exam? Maybe 15 minutes. Bad me for assuming one year meant from the last appointment instead of 4 months after my surgery. If you decide to get surgery here, make your yearly follow-up at the last appointment. read more

I recently had my lasik procedure done at Liberty Laser and I am extremely pleased with the results. Just going from glasses and contacts to being able to see (20/15)in the morning without bumping into things was well worth it! The staff is helpful and informative. the environment is calm and during the procedure Dr. tanchel talks you through every step. The device that holds the eyelids open is odd at first but the excitement of soon being able to see helps one to overcome any anxiety you may have about your eyelids being held open. The procedure was Fast, thorough, and most of all comfortable. It is now 5 days past my surgery and my sight is great allowing me to ride my motorcycle, see movies ,and even look at details of the moon's surface at night (yes that clear!) If you ever had doubts about getting the procedure done consult with Dr Tanchel. I had been wearing glasses since I was ten years old and was tired of having to look for them just to see what time it was in the morning. I finally decided to spend some money on myself (after raising 4 kids) and consulted with Liberty Laser Eye Center and Dr. Tanchel. I immediately felt comfortable and "at home" in her friendly, bright office with her great staff. The doctor was patient, took her time and explained all the tests and what to expect if I decided on the procedure. I took the printed information home to think about it. I decided to schedule and it was the best thing I ever did for myself. NO MORE GLASSES ! Now 8 (EIGHT) years later I can still see everything clear as a bell. No more leaning over to have the glasses fall off or swing out. No more searching for the glasses to see. No more constant cleaning or worrying about scratched lenses. No more headaches from pinching ear pieces. I can go snorkeling and actually see the beautiful fish and coral, I can ski without trying to fit ski goggles over my glasses that just would fog up anyway. Freedom from glasses, yea! I felt the price was reasonable, considering that my (next prescription was going to be tri-focals...)glasses with new lenses cost nearly $600 and were changing each year.
