High ceilings, hardwood floors in the living room, beautiful fixtures, good maintenance workers, and the front desk was great. Large walk-in closets, nice size bathroom, pet friendly. Its also very near downtown and German Village. Walkable to German Village. It's a very nice place to live. My mom and I got a short-term apartment lease here so we could take care of my sister when she was ill. I felt very comfortable having my mom stay here while I was living far away. I signed a 1 year lease starting in August this year. I had to switch units due to an odor within the first two weeks. I've had numerous maintenance issues including not even having access to heat until 6 weeks after I put in the first request in October. Management constantly blows off complaints or will outright deny issues. I had to email the corporate office in Texas just to get maintenance to look at my thermostat. the maintenance team didn't even verify the issue was resolved until I sent a 6th complaint in the portal. the emergency line just goes to the front office and only works sometimes. not worth your money. read more

Liberty Place LOOKS awesome: modern, newly-built, gated parking, high ceilings, huge bathtub, fully modern kitchen, nice amenities like pool, & washer/dryer right there in the bathroom. Any contact with management was good & fine. (Really sweet ladies in the office & the manager in charge seems really cool.) But the walls are thin. As well as the ceilings and floor. My neighbor doesn't play his stereo loud per se, but I can hear what song he's listening to without putting my ear to the wall. (Last weekend was Madonna. Last night was Garth Brooks.) I can sometimes hear heavy footsteps above me, and the guy's stereo (just the bass) below me. I can also hear people talking in the hallway or outside on the sidewalk without trying.. I don't like neighbor-noise, but if it doesn't bother you, then go ahead & add a star. But for as good as this place looks, you'd think the walls / ceilings would be thicker. No water pressure in the shower. The water basically "falls" on you. In sum, these are overpriced for what you're getting. In a couple weeks I'm moving to a 2br townhouse in a quiet North Arlington neighborhood (Godown Rd, just south of Bethel) for a total of $680/month. They're older (built in the 60's or 70's) but solid and seem very quiet. If you don't mind looking around a little, you'll find much better for your money here in Columbus. read more

Having lived in Liberty Place for about 15 months, I'm pretty content with it. I live in the 3BR with 2 friends, and it's laid out pretty well in the common areas for 3 people. The floorplan is odd, as it feels like it's clearly intended for a family. The master bedroom is huge, with 2 gigantic closets and it's own bathroom with dual vanities and whatnot. The other 2 bedrooms are pretty basic, one has a huge closet the other is a little bit bigger with a normal closet. This doesn't seem to make sense to me, considering it's not really in a place I'd imagine a family renting. The complaints from Lani H are valid. You do hear every step of your neighbors to the upstairs and every word of people walking in the hall outside. But, the apartment is pretty nice on the inside, basic, but nice. There are some other gripes as well. Parking has been a huge pain at times. The garage is for residents only, but they do nothing about cars parking there without a pass. I assume because it's just not logistically possible to get a tow truck in there. The garage fills up usually fairly early and I've had to park on the street more than a few times .Also, if you're not on the first floor you have zero outdoor space--which sucks. They have these juliet balconies that you can stand on, but in no way could you sit out there. I guess the reason I give it 4 stars is because I love the location. It's close enough to downtown, there's a ton to do within walking distance but it's not a loud, heavy-traffic area. Also, Rachel in the rental office is extremely nice and helpful. She always follows up promptly when we have questions or a problem and she's pretty much exactly what you look for in a property manager (if you're a tenant at least). I'm going to be here at least another year and I don't really have any reservations about it. read more

My husband and I just moved out of a one bedroom apartment in the updated side of the complex. Before we got married, my husband lived in a two bedroom unit in the older side with a roommate. He had a wonderful experience and his patio looked out towards the pool making for fun summers! As for our one bedroom, we had very nice updated amenities, plenty of space, tall ceilings, barely any maintenance issues unless my husband accidentally put stones from his plants in the garage disposal (LOL!). We had several gatherings in our apartment with crowds from 10-15 being ideal as it gets pretty toasty with any more. Two showers and two sinks were great for us! The area it is in is fantastic! Very quiet but also just a stones throw from downtown and Kroger. We walked to Rockmill Tavern, Kroger and other High St bars and restaurants often. We also enjoyed the pool and the gym on a regular basis. Plus the office staff was always very friendly and knew our names! Great value for the amenities and location. read more

Staff are so friendly and helpful (shoutout to my favorite Cinnamon) and I am able to walk to German Village, Downtown and Franklinton and able to hop on the CBus for free to Short North. The apartment is beautiful on the inside, stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops, a big 1 bedroom with a huge closet. In my bathroom I have a shower, then a big bathtub with another shower, washer/dryer included and a double sink... Won't complIn about any of that. What I don't like is being able to hear my neighbors. I live on the second floor, and my neighbors above have a dog that starts barking at 5 or sometimes 6am... If they go out then the dog barks all evening... Not only that I can hear my neighbors walking (stomping), and I feel like they're constantly moving their furniture (it's really loud). I do hear people in the hallway all the time. I very upset that we no longer have guest parking... What sold me to move in here was the big walk-in closet in the bedroom, specious kitchen with a good size dining area, guest parking and location... Not having guest parking is a big issue now. I have a lot of family that live out of town and my parents visit me a lot, why should they have to pay for parking across the street? I understand it's only $2... But it's not $2 for the whole weekend... I had a friend visit me who paid the night he came, but had a $25 parking ticket at 7am the next day. Basically anytime you have a visitor for a weekend they have to pay every morning... This is not acceptable... I will also agree with other reviews that were posted, maintenance does not exist here... I would love to stay here another year, but something needs to be done at least about guest parking And maintenance... read more

When I first took a look at this place I was soo thrilled about the possibilities. It was brand new, in a great location and was not too expensive. All my excitement changed once I actually moved in:( Construction is a nightmare, making it impossible to live in peace as the hallways are filled with cigarette smoke, blasting music and debris from whatever project they are working on. I thought the garage would be a nice touch but once I moved in it took MONTHS for it to pass inspection?! When it finally, did SEVERAL spots are filled with construction workers supplies. The common utilities?! I have lived all over the country and I have NEVER heard of this. Once I got my bill it was hard to ignore. The leasing agents are trained to be deceptive about this, informing me that it would only be 8.00 dollars... WRONG try 40 dollars extra between water and electricity. After doing research, I discovered that Nationwide utilities(which is the only electricity you can have while living here) takes advantage of its customers by selling the electricity at a residential rate which is why although I am rarely home my bill is over two hundred dollars this month. Do your research, Ohio is one of the few states where common utilities are charged and where management groups can OWN electricity companies forcing tenants to pay outrageous bills. Finally, some people are fighting back and there is an open investigation brewing. I suggest you try somewhere else where the people are honest and don't use shady practices to drain tenants of all their hard earn money. I contacted my lawyer and will be out of this lease soon enough. On a positive note, Rachael is awesome and she does make living here bearable!!! read more

SECURITY IS A JOKE!!! After looking around at a few buildings in the area, we chose Liberty Place because we thought the units were a little nicer than others and because they supposedly had security guards at night. We were willing to pay a little extra for some added security. Boy were we wrong!!!! In the 3 months we have lived here, we have had our car broken into, plants stolen from outside our door and AWFUL building management. They are incredibly rude,unresponsive and almost never in the office. Bottom line, if you are considering moving to Liberty Place save your money and move elsewhere!!!! read more

My husband and I lived in Liberty Place for 4 years. We had a one bedroom in Phase 2 and eventually moved to a two bedroom in Phase 1. Even though Phase 2 is an upgraded apartment style, we loved Phase 1 just as much. We had zero issues of bugs or uncleanliness. When living in downtown apartments, there is always going to be noise and less privacy than a home in the suburbs. However, these apartments are located in a quieter side to downtown. It's perfect for downtown living and not feeling like the noise of hustle and bustle is in your apartment. The staff is always very friendly and they take the time to get to know you on first name basis. The only complaint I could possibly give is that in winter, the covered parking goes quick. However, parking is not an additional charge which is very hard to come by in downtown apartment living. I must say, for not being from Columbus, Liberty Place was definitely my home away from home! read more

I've lived at Liberty Place for several years. Yes, there is a bit of noise but its not too bad though this may say more about my neighbors than anything else. Some of the common areas are starting to look a little shabby. Things such as doors in disrepair are becoming more common. There are two things to consider if you're considering moving into Liberty Place. One is that there is insufficent covered parking for residents. You can almost always find outside parking but if you want to keep your car covered, and you get in late at night, then its unlikely you'll have covered parking. If there is snow forecast then getting in after 7:00 pm will guarantee you that you'll be parking outside. The second problem is that Liberty Place forces you to purchase all of your utilities from Nationwide Energy Partners. My electric rate per kwh is over triple what a relative pays in the suburbs. I assume that there is similar price gouging for water and sewer. If you move to Liberty Place I'd add another $100-$200 to the budget for excess utility charges. I'm not sure of the relationship between Liberty Place and Nationwide Energy Partners but something just doesn't smell right. read more

Poor construction overall, no security (gates all broken or left open), terrible maintenance (requests usually take at least week to get addressed), very thin walls. DO NOT LIVE HERE - NOT WORTH THE MONEY! I moved into these apartments in May and was handed the keys and given a map to find my own place. When I finally found my apartment it was extremely dirty and the paint was terrible! I was unable to move in for a couple days after I had already had friends and family take time off to help me move! My second day in the apartment the water tank sprung a leak - this was a brand new apartment and I was expecting no issues and instead ended up with a crap ton of problems with my year of living here! Any time I had a problem I would call maintenance to be added to the list - it took multiple calls to even get someone to my apartment and even then the whole issue would never get resolved. I learned of a leak in my apartment through an email - the leasing staff didn't even have the decency to pick up the phone and let me know, I had to call them! I learned that they had been in my apartment multiple days before the email was sent to me and was told that it would be fixed within the week. I stayed with a friend for a week so I would not have to worry about maintenance people coming and going from my apartment and when I returned the leak still wasn't fixed! I would not wish my worst enemy to live here! The amount of money that you have to pay to live her and for the staff and maintenance that you receive in return is not worth it - take your money elsewhere! Parking is limited in the garage so if you want a spot you better not work late or go out late cause you will be stuck walking! Bottom line these so called "luxury" apartments are more of a headache and a hassle! read more

New apartments look very nice - stainless steel, granite countertops, large living areas. But you can hear everything going on in the apartment above you. If you want to live here, I'd definitely recommend getting a top floor unit. Management is extremely slow to respond to problems. Also, it is a major pain if you want to have any company as you have to personally walk down outside to let people in the gates which can be quite a hike if you are on a high floor and not by any of the parking lot entrances. Utilities are high as they split common area electric fees with all residents. There is definitely better out there for much cheaper. read more

I DO NOT recommend these apartments. There is construction across the street that operates all night long. We have resorted to a very loud fan at night to block the noise. Barely works. Sleeping is hard in these apartments. The insulations is horrible and we have had to install plastic over the windows to try to block any cold air we could. If you have 2 dogs you will love it here because you can live on any floor and let your dogs run and bark at all hours with no accountability. Yay, sucks if you are on the 1st or 2nd floors...Good luck if you choose these apartments I recommend you pay a little more and move to a better apartment building. read more

This is the worst apartment complex I have ever lived in. The people who work there make it that much worse. They are very disrespectful and it is impossible to get ahold of them. Nothing in the apartment works and service request are ignored. Our sink was clogged and overflowed. We called the emergency line and no one answered after 15 minutes. I sent an email request for this to be address ASAP. I get home from work at 430pm and still not done. Called downstairs 5 times in a row no one answered. When I went down to address it they said sorry we are busy during the day and a 3rd party handles the emergency hotline meaning that they aren't going to address the issue. I had to physically track people down in order to get my sink fix and they were extremely unhelpful and rude. I would not suggest anyone to move in here as this place is poorly run and things break every week. read more

The only good thing about this apartment is the location. I've lived here for a year and almost every interaction I've had with management has been bad. No one there seems to do know what they are doing. Every time I talk to someone they give me different, inaccurate information. Also, the maintenance staff is nonexistent. I have been putting in requests through the phone, email, and in person for a year that have yet to be fulfilled. Portions of my wall are not painted, caulking is missing, and my screen door has never worked, among many there things. The hot tub has never been open, elevators don't work, and the pool was closed for part of the summer. For brand new, so-called "luxury" apartments this was really disappointing. Noise complaints also go unnoticed by management. I have had to buy ear plugs so I can sleep at night because my neighbors dog barks nonstop during the middle of the night. Furthermore, they recently got rid of all guest parking, which was a big selling point for me, and was told all guests would have to find and pay for public parking. When I receive packages at the office, no one contacts me so I don't know when I have things things waiting to be picked up. I've never dealt with such an incompetent leasing staff and will not be renewing my lease here. read more
