Been living here almost a year and it is fantastic! All the staff are so nice and extremely helpful if you ever need anything. Maintenance requests are addressed within 2 days of submission, and sometimes within 2 hours, even on routine requests. The apartment itself is beautifully designed as it has been recently upgraded. The walls are thick enough that I don't hear my neighbors at all and the amenities of the building are well kept and clean. It has been a pleasure living here and I cannot recommend it enough! read more

She enjoys living at Liberty Towers. She would have renewed her lease except logistically she need to move for her job. Update from previous review: this building has completely lost all of its appeal. The construction is outrageous. They renovate 10+ apartments a week and the noise is unbearable. The noise is so loud it is above the legal decibel level as well as above what the CDC and OSHA consider safe. When management is approached they never apologize or offer a solution, just simply say it is what it is. They completely avoid any comment relating to how they are breaking the law. Additionally, the new property manager is one of the worst we have ever dealt with. He doesn't care at all about the tenants, and just wants to make money. He offers renewal increases above 20%, refuses to negotiate, and goes back on his word. Long tenancy means nothing to him, as he would rather have good tenants move out and make more money. Anything you try to escalate to higher management is ignored. We have tried three times to contact someone and never received a response. Six years of tenancy here and the past year and a half have been nothing but nightmares. Do not recommend moving in to Liberty Tower if you want to ever be treated as a human being. read more

Really frustrating living here recently. The recent renovations were really lipstick on a pig. Painting (and poorly painting at that), but not investing in mechanical systems is trying to make a fast buck. We had an elevator out of service for a long time, so when someone was moving in, there was only one available leading to excessive waits and no Covid social distancing. There was recently a leak in the service hallway. The building is failing mechanically because Equity (the building owner) spends money on paint rather than keeping the building in working order. The air con is working on a backup pump so it sounds like a waterfall in the units. Everything is failing and will continue to do so. Each week we get an e-mail about something else in the mechanical backbone of the building breaking . Again, this is building is falling apart mechanically and the residents are the one's suffering. Don't be fooled by the fresh paint. Noise insulation is ok to good from the outside if windows are closed but poor from neighbors and the hallway. Want to hear dogs barking frequently, neighbors alarm clock at 5:45am every morning? Come live at Liberty Tower. If you face the courtyard, note that Rustico has music playing frequently and also occasionally brings in live music in summer. On Quincy, it is a busy road. Also the HVAC system is incredibly loud when on. It is a system that was not built for interior use. They have now started apartment renovations too, which means loud noise/drilling as you work from home. And again it is lipstick on a pig, as the mechanical backbone is failing since they don't invest in it. The noise in apartments is unbearable during the day. If you work from home, do not even consider moving here. You cannot hold Zoom meetings or even talk on the phone if they are working anywhere near your unit. I cannot describe how loud and bad this noise is. And as another review said, the building used to smell and look fresh. It doesn't anymore. The staff it seems have given up too. Back when the pandemic started, there were virtual resident events, but not any recent. There is zero sense of community or pride in the building. It's too bad this building has taken such a nose dive as I did like living here until recently. But Equity just does not care about current tenants. Once they get you because of the renovation that looks pretty only but is worthless, you will see the true colors of them. Also get everything in writing since the building manager turns over every 6-12 months. They openly admit this is a test building for their new managers. read more

I would give this place zero stars if I could. please don't take people's complaints about the noise lightly - it is absolutely unbearable. The worst is the drilling which occurs while they demolish floors and counters - it is well above the legal decibel level for construction in a residential apartment. I wish I could add video to show how bad it is. Having pets or children in the midst of this noise is impossible. They promised the renovations would be done in spring 2023 and here we are, 2024, still going strong, and they have zero care or empathy. They WILL lie to you about the construction and say it's almost over or only travels to 2-3 floors. read more

** I don't live here, I just toured it ** We'd pretty much decided on another apartment already, but I was getting cold feet and had to check out ONE more place before I committed. By most people's standards, I think Liberty Tower would be an acceptable place to live. Their rooftop is beautiful with a pool & stunning views of DC, they've got a cute little courtyard outside the lobby for lounging, and the apartments are surprisingly nice. I say surprisingly because the interior of the building is kind of beat. Ugly brown hallways, stained carpeting, etc. I was shocked to learn it was only built in 2008... I would have guessed late 80's. But the apartments are actually nicer than some of the others I've seen in way more attractive buildings. They've got granite countertops, modern flooring, and the one I saw had a Juliet balcony with floor-to-ceiling glass doors that extended across the full length of the wall in the living area and bedroom. The natural lighting was amazing, and of course, the "walls of glass" made the space seem much larger and more inviting. But spacial illusions aside, the fact remained that the bedroom was not big enough to fit our king size bed with any leftover walking space. Even if I could've forgiven the dirty brown hallways and lobby, the bedroom size took this place out of the running for me. Worth checking out if you're not bothered by grungy hallways and don't need a ton of space. Honestly, I kind of wish their rooftop was a bar/lounge so I could just come back and hang out there. read more

I have lived here since 2017, and everything about this apartment has gone downhill, especially the quality of the amenities, overall cleanliness, and courtesy of the leasing staff. Do no be fooled by the recent renovations performed, they actually took away equipment from the gym without replacing it with suitable alternatives. When you return to your apartment after work or going out, 9 times out of 10, the apartment complex will not be smelling good or clean looking. Elevators will be stained with dog poop and pee, and no one cleans it till the next weekday morning. In addition, one of the three elevators is usually always down for maintenance, and if another is reserved for moving, you will be waiting quite awhile for the elevator. the leasing office will also never provide courteous support. If you have an emergency request on a weekend, and need to get in touch with her, she will start the call by saying "you are calling me on my day off" and proceed to do as little as possible to fix your current situation. Avoid Liberty Tower!!! read more

Do not live here if you work from home. They have been renovating the building for months now, with no end in sight. They renovate each unit after someone moves out. The noise is unbearable. You cannot concentrate during the day. Living here actually makes me excited to start riding the metro and going to work everyday, that's how bad it is. read more

As a dog walker for one of the residents, I am a frequent visitor to Liberty Tower. In the course of my day, I interact with staff from buildings all over Arlington,and, to be honest, because I am a service provider and not a resident, I am not always treated courteously or with promptness. The staff at Liberty Tower is highly professional, gracious and responsive particularly their concierge, Tim Russell. He has a great attitude often going out of his way to be helpful. I have observed his natural rapport with the residents, their guests and the many contractors coming in and out of his busy lobby. Even in the midst of all the activity, he is always welcoming especially to the furry residents, and is never to busy to offer them some affection and a treat. It is a pleasure dealing with everyone who works at the building. read more

Start with the con because there's only really one that covers a couple points, the rent is pretty damn high for the area, the building is relatively new but definitely not newest, it's probably a little higher than it should be with all the new construction in the area. There are newer buildings that are just a few hundred more, but I'm sure there are trade offs there. The biggest issue with rent was that after one year they hiked it up 13.1%, it brought it to be the most expensive unit in the building, and after moving out it's still on the market so that's interesting, but didn't bother trying to negotiate so maybe that would've been a possibility. Onto the pros: Solid apartment with a good location to a lot of stuff: - Few blocks from metro - Immediate food options are Urban Tandoor, Rustico, Kapnos, Pepita Cantina, Yono, Gourmet Bakery, and Super Pollo, as a side note there's also Bruegger's but it's in your best interest to avoid that place - Virginia Square/Clarendon is in walking distance or a sub 5 minute uber/car ride - Harris Teeter is in walking distance, the liquor store is across the street (if that's your thing), similarly Total Wine is right down the street on the other side of Ballston as well The concierge is awesome and will help you with anything. Same goes for maintenance if you ever need it. The roof at Liberty is awesome and looks right over the Washington Monument/National Mall in the distance, so you can easily see the fireworks on the fourth or just go up there whenever, it closes at a certain point but I don't really even know what point that is because it was always open for me. The gym is on the roof and is sub par at best as far as full gyms go (as expected) but if you just want to lift a few weights and run on a treadmill then it's perfect for you. The bigger downside is that it's like a fishbowl so if anyone is on the roof then congrats you're now one of the main attractions. Never used the pool but it seemed to be pretty popular, one time it was raining and the lifeguard was still up there, so you can say they're dedicated. Parking prices were comparable to the entire area, the garage is reserved so you're always guaranteed a spot, which can either be great or suck a lot. Equity (the bldg's company) has some good perks for transfering between buildings, and they have a bunch of good locations in this area, so that's worth considering as well. read more

In keeping with my earlier reviews, I can't recommend Liberty Tower, especially when there are so many new buildings in the area. I've lived here for a long time, through changes in management and renovations and this is honestly the worst it's been. The renovation noise is mind-numbing and their response is that they publish a schedule. Like that helps. I hung on for many years because the staff was so great, but that has ended. I have cancer and need flexibility in my renewal and they won't budge on their insane pricing for short term leases. They just don't care. read more

I lived in the Liberty Tower Apartments for 3 years. The building itself is great, it is close to the metro, has a gated "back yard" area, 24/7 concierge, is incredibly dog friendly, still has a relatively new feeling, and has great amenities on the roof that have an amazing view of DC. All of that being said there are some major issues with management and personnel that would deter me from recommending this building to any of my friends. First off I always felt like the concierges were a little too nosy and judgmental. It is a fine line to walk between having polite conversation while doing your job, and wanting to know every little detail of someone's life and asking questions about when you will be home, who you will be out with, etc much like that of a parent. I often found myself using the back doors to avoid these types of conversations or being yelled at while waiting for the elevators (usually just Hi! but from a very inappropriate distance). Secondly, management is often unresponsive to emails. There have been many times where after several email and phone attempts to reach Jessica team members who could help me, I had to physically go in to the office during working hours (which means working from home specifically to stalk them). I personally feel that it should not my job to hunt down management to get them to do their job and this is one of the primary reasons I wouldn't recommend this building to any of my friends. The last thing you should know if you are considering renting from this building is that the renewal offers that they give you are outrageous. Most of the initial offers they will give you will be well above market value. For example, my renewal rate that I turned down was about $300 more per month than I had been paying and was about $500 more per month than another apartment of the same lay out three floors higher. That works out to $6000 more per year for the same layout on a lower floor. Management was not willing to come down or meet that price which is ultimately why I ended up leaving the building. I know of other residents who saw the same thing happen and asked to switch units. Management never got back to them so they also ended up leaving. Overall this apartment is a great place if you want something close to the metro, with a great neighborhood, you have the ability to work from home, and only plan to be there for a year or two at the most. read more

Liberty Towers has been a great place to call home for the past year. My wife and I had a checklist when searching for our apartment: 1) Dog Friendly with an area to walk our dog that is well maintained 2) In unit: Walk in closets, Washer and Dryers, Hard Surface flooring 3) Area: Metro Accessible with a good number of QUICK restaurants (we can go out whenever we want, but you need something around you when in a pinch) This building checked all the boxes. I've lived here for 1.5 years, and this review is for the building as it currently is under the management of Equity Residential. The Ballston area is fantastic, and this building is right in the middle of it all. Moving on to the building itself.... New management has took over about 6 months ago and things have gone downhill. They have done some good things, including adding an automated mail/package notification system, online management of your rent/maintenance requests, and added rooftop furniture. However, these were fairly simple items and in no way justify the $400 rent increase they instituted simply by adding their name to building. There is a significant water problem in the building that causes an ungodly squeaking/buzzing/howling sound through the pipes. It's not simple flow noise, rather it's loud enough to wake you up. You pay a pro-rated portion of the water bill too, which is now up to about $60 a month for a one bedroom apartment because of this problem. Apparently it's ok to smoke in your apartment, which is unfortunate because it makes my apartment stink. Management refuses to even talk about the issue with my neighbors, and lets them keep smoking. The building had a nice grill in the courtyard, but the new management took that away for some unknown reason. Many of the residents have issues getting into the parking garage too. These things are highly unfortunate and overshadow the nice amenities of the building. There is a nice pool and a pretty decent gym in the building. The rooftop is amazing, and offers stunning views of the entire DC area. If the management would start treating the residents as people as opposed to a faceless apartment # then the higher rent could be somewhat justified. Given that the new management has made things significantly worse and decided to charge you at least $400 more a month for it, I would recommend you live elsewhere. read more

One of my closest friends lives here so I am in and out all the time and am practically a resident myself. This building is in a great location; close to 66 and walking distance to Clarendon. Plus has a rooftop making it that much more fun to come home to ;) However, these features are sadly irrelevant when dealing with a property that is unorganized, judgmental, neglecting of their residents, and lies to you. These problems are horrible to come across and are things that make or break living situations so I am here to share with you all so that you are not blinded by the fake smiles at the front desk and rooftop view. To be more specific my friends apartment smelt like sewage; the stench was unbearable and you were breathing in toxic air, she couldn't use her bathroom, they couldn't have guests over, etc. Their apartment was literally useless. This was an off and on problem for 4 months before it was taken care of. The maintenance team "fixed it" over 6 times yet it kept coming back. In some cases they wouldn't visit to see the problem for over a week after the initial complaint because in their policies they state that they do not provide any maintenance services over the weekend. Unfortunately, for my friends sake, they do not consider ones health an emergency situation. Anyhow, the smell is finally gone now and their place is feeling a bit more like home. Because of the entire situation at hand my friends asked for something very simple in order to compensate for the poor service, neglect, and endangerment they put them in. This was denied and handled in a very ill manner. I hope this never happens to anyone else there, but have a feeling that it will as this opinion seems to be agreed with across the board. Liberty Towers is a great deal for the area. It is a fairly new building and they have unique floor plans. My floor plan has floor to ceiling windows and you can get a great view of the city if you're high up enough. The concierges here are always so nice as well! I have a friend who lives in a condo building right down the street. Whenever I go to visit her, the concierge treats me like a criminal and asks me 100 questions. When she comes to visit me, my concierges are always very polite and just have her sign in and lets her go on her way. She always comments on it and is jealous she doesn't live here because of the great customer service I get, My only complaint was that my couch was too big to fit in the elevator or the stairwell so I had to get rid of it. You'd think in such a new building the architects would have though about putting in a freight sized elevator. read more

Update: The construction noise is unbearable. ALL DAY LONG, shrill beeping. They are now at it on Sundays too. 7 days a week. I cannot imagine how my neighbors who actually face Randolph St are coping. The building under construction is not slated to be finished for another year according to their website. Just received my lease renewal (will not be renewing) and it's unbelievable to me that Equity arbitrarily raises prices for no reason, with nothing in return to justify the raise. My new rent (if I were staying) is 12% higher than my initial rent when I first leased 17 months ago. When discussing the renewal I complained about how my windows STILL have never been washed (12th floor, can't wash them myself, see prior review) and was told they will be doing it soon, and also the building was just approved to get a much needed face life. That's great, but that's more noise coming while they remodel all the common areas and hallways and I can only assume update the elevators and paint scheme for the whole building. It's too bad I have to leave because the staff are really wonderful. Think twice before leasing here if you are reading this in the next 12-15 months. read more

I am updating this as of March 14, 2012, now having lived at Liberty Tower for three years, both before and after the takeover by Equity Residential. The property itself is beautiful. Our one bedroom with a den has a stunning view of the National Mall, a nice balcony, decent fit and finish of cabinetry and construction, and has held up over three years far better than other rental properties in which we've lived. The gym is well-appointed, and the rooftop pool is nicely maintained. The entire rooftop was overhauled in 2011 by Equity, as was the courtyard area, both of which were outfitted with much nicer almost resort-like furnishings. As of March 2012, the courtyards are under renovation by management, and they look like they're going to be quite nice. The grills are in place and working. The location can't be beat. Ballston is truly amazing (not that this review includes that aspect; that's not unique to the property, but the neighborhood really is spectacular), and our apartment is terrific in our book. Our experiences under Equity have been mixed. One of our favorite concierges, Coressa, no longer works at Liberty. However, Gurcan came on board and that man RUNS Liberty Tower. He is the most ebullient, kind-hearted, engaging, outgoing, hard-working person I've ever seen at a rental property. He is an absolute prince, and we can't speak highly enough about how service-oriented he is. The mail and package system is online, and was once displayed on television screens. Now it's all done by email. (I preferred the former, but c'est la vie.) Kory Lavelle was here only briefly, and did a great job of keeping up the social activities. Under Jessica Gonzales, who was also here only briefly, the social aspect slid a bit, and she was far less responsive than Kory. We're on to Equity property manager number three now (after a brief interim), and we'll see how tht goes. The maintenance staff has remained outstanding, both under Kodiak and under Equity. We had a washing machine die, an inexplicable dishwasher drain problem, and water leaking into our bathroom ceiling fan over the past three years. (Note that these are all water-related. More in a moment.) Each time, the problems have been expediently and professionally resolved. The water-related issues are better as of March 2012, after a recent series of days with the contractor working on the problem. At one time, the pipe howling was literally enough to wake the floor. (One front office staff member claimed in 2011 it was isolate to one unit. That was not accurate.) We lost all water twice in 2011 and twice in 2012, and hot water once in 2011. That said, the howling has been gone for some time at least from our unit. (The parking access issue in 2011 that I wrote about previously has been resolved and has remained resolved, so I am removing it. Short version: Under one manager, many residents had serious problems getting into the garage. That problem seems to be fixed after they replaced the garage access system.) The community on the renter's side is friendly for the vast majority, and a lot of hard-working people live here. (We've met a few retired folks, but most people seem to work in law, the military, finance, or are contractors. We're teachers, which is unique, so we find.) Some folks are a little too young to know how to be respectful of their neighbors late on a Friday, but that's not unique to this place that's for sure! I will say that the building seems quieter these past 18 months compared to when we first moved in, so perhaps it was isolated. The smoke smell through the windows has been really unpleasant, though only occasional, for the past few years. I'm not sure anything can be done about that; I've never lived this high up on the leeward side of a building. HOWEVER, as of February 2012, Liberty Tower is moving to an all-non-smoking property. WOOT. Great news for everyone's health. My inclination was to give the property three stars; I'm a teacher and I follow my rubrics and three stars has a description of "A-OK." I'd say "okay" is the correct descriptor, and two stars indicates "I've experienced better." The truth is that I've experienced the same, but not really any better. Equity's takeover was, as compared to other takeovers we've been through, pretty smooth except for the garage parking issue, and now that's done. I stated in my last review version that I would alter my star rating if the water issue and the parking issue improved, and they have. My original evaluation was three stars, but I would rate Liberty Tower as a solid four now. I cannot raise it to a five given the rent increases under Equity; to be competitive in value, I think Liberty Tower would have to shave a couple hundred bucks a month off of the bill. Short version: Nice apartments, decent staff, and we're enjoying living here. read more

The facilities are excelent especially the rooftop area where I look onto DC. The administration is easy and payments are seamless with the use of the online portal. This is my first apartment living experience and so far I LOVE IT! I have owned every place I have lived prior to living here at Liberty Towers and hands down this luxury apartment exceeds expectations. From the leasing agents (Marcia handled our lease and was phenomenal) Jessica handled post move-in maintenance and both have been extraordinarily attentive to our needs and requests. The service maintenance staff have been on time and expeditious in fixing everything to my specifications. The concierge staff are friendly, courteous and thoughtful...what more can you ask for? Joni, Kenika, and Chris have gone above and beyond in all exchanges and interactions making my transition here to DC amazing!!!! I would totally recommend this apartment building with out hesitation. The location is equally amazing! the facilities awesome! I drive passed other buildings we were considering and feel beyond satisfied with our decision to be here at Liberty and would definitely consider renewing our lease in a year! read more

Do not under any circumstance move to this apartment in the next few years. They are renovating apartments as residents move out and with how egregiously early, including on weekends they begin construction, I would infer they are attempting to get current residences to not renew their leases so they can renovate those units and charge more in rent. Unless you plan to be out of your apartment from 7AM-6PM every day, and are okay being woken up by construction on weekends, I cannot imagine a situation desperate enough to not find a better apartment community that actually cares about its residence. read more

I have lived here for three years and have had a very positive experience. Yes, it's Ballston so it is going to be expensive, period. However I am a firm believer that this building provides the best value in the area. Where else can you live in a 22 story high rise with a sweet rooftop terrace and pool with amazing views of DC? Apartments have pretty nice kitchens with granite counters, ceilings are a decent height, and most units have an outdoor space. My only complaint about the apartment is that it's an electric stove and not gas. Oh well. The grounds are very well maintained, as cleaning crew are there almost every day; I've even seen them cleaning the two grills outside...so thorough! I have had nothing but positive experiences with the staff. Gurcan and Tim are the best! Any complaints/annoyances with neighbors are actually addressed and service requests are almost always tended to within 24 hours. I believe the infamous whistling pipes have been fixed so no need to worry about that anymore. Parking spaces are assigned, which I love. The leasing staff has been easy to deal with, from what I can tell given the little interaction I've had with them. As for moving in, it's nice there's not bullsh** move-in fee or the one time/annual amenity fee of which most buildings charge in excess of $500. Oh yeah, it's been nice that the company has not raised our rent to even more outrageous prices. It has gone up, but maybe just a couple hundred over three years. read more

I almost moved here after doing extensive research of Arlington (the Clarendon/ ballston area). This place seemed really neat and it was my first choice. I really liked that it was in the center of a lot of things in the city, near subways and yet had a really wide courtyard with perfectly permed grass and nice patio furniture which was very peaceful. It's also pet friendly which is awesome since I'm a huge animal lover. It has spacious walk- in closets, a washer/ dryer in units, fitness center, outdoor heated pool on roof, concierge service with the front desk holding packages and dry cleaning. Cute balconies that are pet and child friendly. The entrance and lobby definitely make this building look like a luxury apartment and I love the sun deck on the roof! And amazing views of dc from the rooftop and apartment units. The apartment was a bit pricey, but I think it was worth it! For $2,000 a month, it's very convenient and comfortable but I can't speak to the quality of management since I didn't wind up moving here... read more

When I first moved to the Arlington area 4 years ago Liberty Tower was on the top of my list of places to check out. I loved it from the tour that I took the first day I was here. I toured other apartments in the area, but mostly just went through the motions at LT already had me hooked. The rooftop pool is a great place to spend the summer days. The rooftop views are captivating year round and offer an exceptional view of downtown, especially during the 4th of July Fireworks. The staff is always helpful and friendly. The maintenance crew usually visits same day of I report a problem and 95% of the time repair the issue that day. I would recommend Liberty Tower to anyone who comes to the area and is looking for an apartment. read more

I've lived in DC and Arlington for nearly 10 years, ping ponging to different places each year because, well, apartments suck within the DC metro area. But this is the first place that my husband and I will be staying for more than a year! We've loved EVERY second being here so far! Liberty Tower is an awesome building: roof top pool, gym, conference area, business center, grills outside, sweet outdoor patio on the roof, 24 hr concierge etc. Here is what I LOVE about living in Liberty: 1. The management has been great! Jessica really went out of her way to accommodate our needs and even changed some aesthetic aspects of the apartment to fit what we wanted! We read yelp reviews, but we sat down and talked with Jessica many times. She was adamant about the quality of service and lifestyle liberty offered. She had the staff changed and the front desk people are always so friendly (the friendliest I've ever seen!). They greet you and try to get to know you! 2. The apartments themselves are phenomenal! We got a great place at a comparable price to anywhere else in the Ballston area. We toured literally EVERY apartment complex in the Ballston area (The View, all of Ditmar's, the rest of Equity's, etc). We liked this one best for a a lot of reasons, but here are just a few: a. the entire building is non smoking! We love having our windows open and there is nothing worse than having nasty cigarette smoke fill up your place! b. Balcony-it has great balconies and we love being outside c. The layout-Liberty has very logical, box-floorplans that make this place feel a lot larger than it is and easy to fit furniture. d. hard wood floors. This was a must since I didn't want the toxic chemicals and adhesives affecting my air quality within the house. Jessica was great in helping us get these installed e. glass french doors into our den. Very cool and chic! f. There is an awesome outdoor entertaining area on the roof g. Granite countertops in the kitchen h. Awesome outdoor, grilling area i. The elevators are super fast and I never have to wait more than a few seconds for one-clutch when you live on a higher floor and your hands are filled with groceries! 3. If I had to pick cons for the place, it would be very, very minor items. a. The gym is standard when comparing the rest of the apartments in Ballston-a little on the small side. There's a huge Gold's and a Sport & Health across the street, so I think most apts rely on them vice beefing up the gym. That's it! Live here, you won't regret it! read more

Updating my previous review. After months of wrangling, the issues were finally fixed in our previous apartment, and we actually were able to upgrade to a 2 bedroom apartment in the building with ease in the process. The current building management is great and I have found the regional management to be responsive as well. Here's to hoping the leaf is turned. To start off, I overall enjoyed living at the Liberty Tower. My two complaints about my living experience are from noise, and from the lease renewal process. The noise came from the very loud construction across the street. If you are looking at a Randolph floor plan, facing Wilson Blvd, you will here endless construction noice due to the lack if noise insulation in the sliding glass doors. It starts before 7am every day, and around 9 on Saturday, and is loud even on the high floor apartments (mine was on 12). If this had been disclosed prior to moving in, there is no way I would have signed a lease. But most of my poor experience came from my lease renewal process. For background, I signed a 6 month lease towards the beginning of this year, when there was a special going on that 6 months and 12 month leases were the same price. Come summer, I get my renewal notice, and I'm shocked at a $300 increase for a renewal of my lease, after living there less than 5 months. After negotiating, they say an almost $200 rent increase is the best they can do, despite larger apartments in other buildings in the area renting for comparable prices to what I was countering. The whole process took almost a month, with very little communication throughout. Equity Residential has no interest in retaining residents, or even treating current residents with respect during the renewal process. My apartment is now posted for the same as they said was the lowest they could possibly go (a $200 increase), despite originally claiming market rate was about $400 above what I was paying. Either they don't know the market, or they want to get current residents out to get new residents in. The prices are similar to brand new luxury buildings, such as the Rixey or Latitude, but the Liberty is not new, and it shows it's age when you live there. Hot water can be inconsistent, there is damage to the hallways that they poorly fix (seriously, look at the poor paint jobs), and leaks on the roof (the many missing ceiling tiles by the bathrooms on the roof). The staff, however have been wonderful. The front desk and leasing office both clearly care about the residents, but unfortunately Equity has no interest in building a community, and every interest in getting residents out. read more

I've lived at Liberty Tower for the past 2.5 years. It's a really nice building in a great location. (Gold's, Harris Teeter, several restaurants within a block or two). However, what sets this complex apart are the staff who have gone above and beyond on numerous occasions. When I moved here in July 2016, I was dealing with serious medical issues which made it difficult for me to get situated in my new unit. Specifically, Wayne went out of his way to help me get accommodated and even followed up after move-in! The front desk & management team (especially Brionna W.) are also very friendly and extremely quick to respond to any email communication. I definitely recommend Liberty Tower if you are looking for apartments in the Arlington area. read more

I was surprised by the amount of properties in the area that don't offer fios (comcast only); and how much more apartments that do cost. This is one of the few buildings constructed prior to 2010 that offer the service. Tim and the other front desk staff are great. The rooftop gym has spectacular views and the rooftop is definitely the best amenity. Tables to eat out while enjoying the view, lots of seating, and a nice little pool. It's older than many apartments in the area, but is well maintained. The few times in the almost two years here that we've needed maintenance, the team has been fantastic. read more

We have lived In Liberty Tower for 4 months and I must say, after 4 apartments over the course of 5 years, this has been such a pleasant experience! The staff is so sweet and make you feel at home from day 1, the Maintenance team is fast and responsive, and the neighbors have been super friendly! The location is soon to be the hot spot in Arlington with the creation of Ballston Quarter - bars, restaurants, shopping, etc! My wife, young daughter and I resided at Liberty Tower for 1 year. We are both working professionals, made on time rent payments, did our part to develop and maintain a good relationship with the apartment staff. Things deteriorated toward the end of our lease. My wife was showering, I was changing, and maintenance staff let themselves in to make some sort of adjustment in the utility closet. The individual had obvious situational awareness of our presence in the apartment, made no effort to leave and continued his work in our HOME. I travel for a living, and my wife and daughter could have been in danger with a stranger letting themselves into our home. Zero appointment. Zero advanced notice. They reluctantly installed a secondary lock on the door with my insistence and rage. This instance prompted an email from my wife that we would not be renewing our lease, this happened about halfway into the lease. Months later, the once pleasant building manager Brionna Wight, caught us in passing on the way out and said we were responsible for the month by month after our lease was up. She gave us rude grief for not alerting her to our choice not to renew and blamed us for not giving her enough time to find new occupants. This made the lobby awkward and uncomfortable to be in from then on. Later, when we brought to her attention the email that we had written months before she refused to respond to us, would give us no information or the courtesy of verification that she had received anything. We sent over 20 emails with no response. She is highly unprofessional and when we pointed out we had alerted her she treated us with zero regard. We move out after staying 4 days into the next month. We agreed to let them use their cleaning services after we were told self cleaning was not an option, this was 100 dollars. They still kept our security deposit and didn't deduct it from the pro-rated days in the apartment, or the "cleaning" cost. We felt as if we were being punished, we never filed formal complaints to be nice, and did our best to be good tenants. We were charged for a stain on the floor that was present before we moved in after they find us we wouldn't be responsible for. Packages would go missing or sent back, nobody could be reached when needed, more than anything the tenants are their last priority. Their money is their top priority! We paid top dollar for one of their most expensive apartments and terrible service was the everyday norm. Even upon moving in, zero tour, just handed us keys and didn't explain amenities or hard points in the lease contract. Find somewhere else to live. It is a nice place, but Brionna, and the staff is sub-par and seemingly crooked. read more

I have lived in quite a few apartments and have to say that liberty tower apartments are the best of the best. The building has fantastic amenities and is super clean, the staff are friendly and helpful (especially Tim and Esther)! They even take time to visit with our new puppy and give treats. read more
