I was harassed last night by an extremely inebriated patron. Cops had to be called as the owner and multiple staff members watched her harass our table without intervention. Don't know why they're incapable of hiring competent staff that care more about working than talking to each other/yelling/texting. I spent two or three nights a week here back in college. It hasn't changed at all, I think the drink specials are still the same after 15 years. If you are looking for fine dining, the Library's not for you. But if you want a fun afternoon of day drinking or a great evening with friends, there isn't a better pub in Norman. We were there before the game yesterday and the staff and food were great. The celery on the hummus tray was a bit chewy, but who orders celery in a college bar. read more

The food has gotten worse, as well as the drinks; the service has become defunct as the young ladies who are supposed to be working there just vape and text. I'd like to think it has ambiance, but it does not appear to get cleaned. Many locals have quit going there as it's no longer fun. read more

Me and my wife went by this place today march 11. 2023. I heard it was a great place and the food was great I had a pizza and my wife had pulled pork quesadilla and it was great, but our waitress was awful when she started to wait on us she was not very talkative. She did not give us any silverware she never came by to ask if we wanted more drinks when we got our food we didn't get any napkins my wife got up and got us silverware. Another couple got some water and 10 minutes later the man had to go to the bar and order drinks when we finished eating after 15 minutes my wife left to go to the truck and I waited on the ticket and she never came. Probably my favorite place in the entire world. First things first, the cheapest drinks in town during Happy Hour - which there are TWO. 3pm-6pm, and 10pm - close. Prime drinking times. A light Brewhouse beer on the patio in the summer - nothing is better. Not to mention, their happy hour also includes pizza and nachos. I'm not a pizza fan, and I could eat theirs everyday. They have a set menu but they'll normally make anything you please. Might I suggest tomato, basil, garlic, with olives and onions? Dream pizza. This isn't a "locals only" bar but if you go there often enough, you'll start to recognize everyone. People have been going to this bar for years and years and continue to frequent. Good for study dates in the afternoon and going out with friends at night. This will almost always be the place I end my night after Campus Corner. read more

This little bar is one of our favorite places to hang out in Norman. It's tiny and always packed but I wouldn't change a thing. The atmosphere is partly why we love to visit The Library. The owners have a few different restaurants all located around campus but the Library is by far where we hang out the most. The bar is the most coveted seat in the place. The service is great and the food is far better than most bar food. We love their Pot Roast Nachos. Absolutely mouth watering! They are also known for their pizza. Yummy! They have quite a selection of beers on tap and their wine selection is pretty good. The waitresses are typically very attractive as well. The patio is a fun place when the weather permits. They have heaters in the winter so it's quite comfortable all year long. This is a must if you are on campus and need a fun place to hang out for great drinks and food. read more

A fantastic spot to share some quiet drinks with friends. Even on a Friday night around 10 pm (and a football game weekend at that), we easily got a table and didn't have any trouble hearing each other, since it wasn't crowded at all. Perfect for what we were looking for. The drink prices were astonishingly cheap to me (but I'm from Dallas). We're talking $3 mixed drinks, $2 pints. Wow. You Oklahomans don't know how lucky you are. The Library also has a nice selection of home-brewed beers, so that's a fun touch for an out-of-towner looking to sample the local "culture." We shut 'em down at 2 am, only because they basically kicked us out and said they were closing. We were having too much fun. Minus a star for the waitstaff. Given how slow it was that night, there was no excuse for her to have been forgetting drinks for 15 minutes at a time. She also snapped at one of my friends when he tried to bypass her ridiculously disorganized slowness and just order a drink at the bar. The waitresses here definitely fight over "territory," and it's not pretty. Plus, at the end of the night, she messed up our bill twice. Otherwise, a great experience. read more

I'm going to write about the Library-not the one with the books, the one with the booze. The Library Bar and Grill is a beloved destination for dinner and drinks on the patio. I am a personal fan of their pizzas. Ranging around $10, the personal size pizzas are delicious and filling. The crust is hand-tossed, rubbed with olive oil, and sprinkled with a mixture of herbs and cornmeal. Pizza choices include Four Cheese, Pepperoni, Veggie Pie, BBQ Chicken, and more. The Library's signature dish on their menu is The Library Burrito Supreme ($9.95). It starts with chips and salsa and then comes this huge post roast burrito with beans, chili, cheese, and pico, all covered in even more melted cheese. It's one of my good-to-favorites if our group is wanting a meal to go with our drinks. If you are wanting something lighter for dinner, keep in mind that even their salad portions are generous. The Library Salad ($5.95), is a basic (but filling) large bowl of fresh greens, cheese, tomatoes, and mushrooms. For $3 more, chicken or turkey can be added. The Library has a wide selection of house, bottled, and draft beers from around the world, including a $6 Made in Oklahoma Beer Flight of four local beers. So while customers won't find any books here (or even drinks named after authors), the Library Bar and Grill has an excellent selection of good food and drinks, and is a perfect place to catch up with your friends. read more

You want a Norman bar? This is THE Norman bar. I wish I went to 3rd grade, because had I, I would haiku the heck out of this review. Disclaimer: I love this frickin place. It's now a part of the Good Life group of joints (Brewhouse, Blu, Blackbird, Jax Bar at Blackbird). And that's a good thing because the management here shines. Almost everyime to i come here (weekly), there is a familiar server, happy, working hard. And I make sure to tip accordingly. Thanks for being super cool Library. It's an older building with some random-ass decorations, along with some historic University photos which are awesome. It has a really solid bad, and is the perfect mixture of light and dark for a bar. A weird claim, I know, but it is. You gotta see it. People say the Mont has the best patio in town. Horse hockey, unless you super enjoy bad beer selection and exhaust from a major intersection in Norman. The Library;s patio is the absolute best. My understanding is that it used to be called Pinky's back in the day, and it was primarily a gay bar (back when you had to have "a" gay bar in Norman, but perhaps not everyone was welcome everywhere.) This place holds up, and all are clearly welcome here. You can tell. Any given visit, it might be an LBGTQ happy place, an old person place (often), a study group place of undergrads (today), or wonderful band nerds from OU undergrad and their esteemed conductors (saw that about 3 months ago). This place is money. But I hope you forget you read this. Do not take my chair at my favorite place. Oh yeah, crap, forgot: pizza is not bad ass but it is very good for the price, quesadilla is killer, and the nachos are wonderful except they don't spread the chips out enough for the bottom chips to get a fair spread. The SALSA is LEGENDARY. (not kidding) I love you, The Library. read more

I have to admit that I'm writing this review through the rosy-tinted glasses of nostalgia, but that doesn't make my feelings about The Library any less honest. From the day that I turned 21 up until this very moment, this charming little pub has been my personal favorite bar in the world. As a poor college student, there were few deals better than $2 single and $3 double well drinks (a deal that's offered at all Good Life restaurants). The house beers are only $2.25 during happy hour and... well, you get what you pay for (spoken like a true beer snob). The rotating handles of non-house beers on tap never fail to offer something tried and true or something new and exciting. And on the subject of deals, personal pizzas are half-price... is it on Sundays? Just during happy hour? I honestly can't remember, probably thanks to a few years of those drink specials. The Library's atmosphere is warm, dark, and inviting, with all sorts of knick-knacks hanging along the inside, and the patio is perfect when it's not 115 degrees out. If you're a young person or young spirit in Norman, go make this bar your "Cheers" like it was mine for so long. read more

Small. The Library holds lots of old memories of mine. But in revisiting, it lost a lot of it's charm. I hope this place stays open for more and more years to come, it's nicely placed near campus corner at the University of Oklahoma, but it isn't the best college bar in town. The atmosphere is relaxed and chill, and if you want some good grub while enjoying the scenes around campus, you'll like this place. Starting out the service was slow, but you don't go to the Library to rush you go to relax and take your time. The food was tremendous. I highly recommend the quesadillas. If you're a pizza lover, this is a great place to find and pizza of your own. Highlight: they order their cheese fresh so if you're into cheese, cheese it up at the Library. So if the day is sunny, park yourself at the Library and enjoy you a cool beer whist getting some work done. Clever name. If I was a OU student and my mom or dad called me, I could rightfully say that I'm at the library. This can also be confusing to some people who don't know their is a bar called "The Library" in Norman. The inside of the bar is tiny. So cozy in fact that you actually end up almost sitting face to face to someone in one of their booths. The patio seats remind me of a mini jungle. As stated by others- people tend to smoke outside. I think the beer selection at McNellie's is better, but I think it's cool that this place offers beer flights. As far as food goes, I've only tried their nachos. They're nothing special. Service wasn't all that great either so I really don't have any reason to come back to this place. Maybe I'll give it another shot in the future. read more

Food is basic - sandwiches or reheated pretzels, etc. The service is terrible; my last server brought us drinks we didn't order twice and expected us to pay for them - that's when we could get a server. The Library, the first time I've heard of this place I was thinking the Bizzell. Little did I know these were two very different places in two different locations, but very close to each other. It's a great little hidden location within walking to school and the "real" library. It has that pub feel to it, sassy waiters, dark and dim, mismatched chairs, and sticky tables. Parking is limited, but at that time we just walked there. I've been here for food, and drinks. Their pizza, is really well flavored, but kind of on the small side. Given the chance I would probably get it again mostly for the taste, not so much the price. I believe we got a regular cheese pizza. Their nachos were alright, our chips were slightly soggy and the cheese wasn't much to harp about. Drinks, well at this time in my life I drank anything and everything. But my favorite was when the bartender created for us a gingerbread shot, delicious going down. Conclusion: I mostly miss this place because of the fond memories with friends and the cutesy close atmosphere you get but for the food not so much. I'm okay with their drinks though. read more

Good Blue Moon on draft, and not the crappy 3.2% that most bars in Norman seem to be selling lately. Happy hour drink prices are only for Boulevard beer I believe, but still, the other drafts are $3.50/$4.00 which is pretty good. Good appetizers, higher quality pizza and nachos that you would expect from a bar, and the waitresses are usually cuties with black skirts on - reer! Outside seating is a big ole plus, especially when the weather is nice, and the crowd is a mix of college students, professors, working 30's and 40's people and families. All kinds. The Library is a cute little place for a night out. If the weather is nice, you can enjoy the patio too! The parking lot is pretty small so if the place is packed, you may have a hard time finding parking. We went here to meet with some friends but we ended up really liking the place. The food was all really good. Their nachos are delicious and their side salad was really good too. The ambiance was very nice and relaxing which for me is half the battle for enjoying an evening out. Slow service, ok food. But they serve cheap drinks, so it's alright. You can easily get drunk for $15, including minimum 20% tip. I wouldn't choose this place to eat at, but the veggie nachos are pretty good when you're tipsy. Nice patio, but it's so dark you can't see anyone's face at night, so make sure to get a candle from the serving tray they usually have outside. If you're cold, they hand out blankets, which I love. Great bar, really. Very comfortable and chill. Laid back. Cheap. Not a fun place to hang out with your family, really, unless your family are interested in getting hammered. So... funny little story. In my early 20's (as my brother's banker) I always noticed there were charges to "The Library" while he was attending college at OU. I'm thinking "wow he really is studying hard" lol! Goodness but here we are 16 or so years later (cough cough) and I finally get to try this place out. It sits right off campus and is really little but can I say that it's so adorably cute. There was a good patio space outside but unfortunately we arrived at the beginning of an OU game on a Saturday after Thanksgiving that was pleasantly 65+ degrees outside so you can guarantee there were no patio tables available. We proceeded inside and seated ourselves at a booth. No sign or person to direct us so I hope we were supposed to seat ourselves, surely, it a college bar. We were helped immediately by a pleasant waitress that was busy but still had time to be friendly. We ordered a coin or of beers and took time to look at the menu. We decided on chicken nachos (I'll eat Mexican anywhere) Nachos were good, wished they had a bit more cheese but noting that ruined my meal. I always enjoy when a place serves salsa and it's not picante sauce so kudos to them for that. We ordered a couple more beers then their hummus plate which came with carrots, crackers, and celery. Hummus was good (it's just plain hummus so don't expect garlic or anything fancy) crackers were good, but celery was soggy. Not sure how celery gets soggy other than , again, it's a college bar and they probably don't order hummus often. Beer special we're on point. They have a few of their own house brews, I tried the Amber and wasn't a fan, it tasted flat. But overall I would return. This is the place to build memories. We've spent our lives outside of class here. How can you go wrong they've got the best specials, bar maidens and food. Becoming a regular is not that hard to do and it becomes "the place where everyone knows your name" The relaxed atmosphere on the patio even lends itself to meeting new people and learning something new every time. Then during the semester you'll find the staff and faculty relaxing and enjoying a pint with a student. This sight only occurs here. By far the best place to be.
