Whenever i come to licks everyone is usually nice but i went there before close and obviously i felt bad since it was about 9:40 and they close at 10. When i came in all of the workers seemed to be in high school and all rolled their eyes and sighed loudly because they obviously didn't want us coming before close. Going to Excelsior in the summer can be like stepping back in time. Going for a walk by the lake, taking in a movie at the Excelsior Dock Theatre (real butter on the popcorn), and then grabbing ice cream across the street at Licks. The ice cream is made in Wisconsin and they have 30+ flavors. While not quite to the level of an Izzy's or Sebastian Joe's (they would have to make their own ice cream and get a bit more creative with the flavors), this is one of those places where you enjoy your ice cream in the summer and build memories with your friends and family. read more

This place is so cute! Just like its name; licks unlimited; I can't get enough of their icecream. When I got there, there was a really long line and I was thinking of not getting my ice cream in this place as there are a lot or ice cream places around the area. However, it's kinda surprising that their service was great and really fast! No longer than 5 mins I was able to get my delicious ice cream! They have a large selection of ice cream and I got their cocoa almond coconut bliss. And yes, it was blissful. Prices are more than fair!! If a place serves Chocolate Shoppe, the ice cream is legit amazing- so this review is strictly about the location, service, ambiance, etc. There are Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream parlors closer to me, but I go to this one instead because it's in Excelsior- right off of the lake. There's usually parking close by- and even if there isn't, the town is beautiful- walk around! The staff is very friendly and will give you a sample of whatever you please. i've never felt compelled to write a review on an establishment before, but after my experience last night that changed. ice cream is always great, unfortunately two of the employees were incredibly rude, rolling eyes at customers, slamming our sodas on the counter, loudly complaining about us in the back room, and generally acting like we weren't welcome. granted, it was 20 minutes before close, but i still don't think that warrants the treatment i and several of my friends received. we were appalled at the behavior. i'm also seeing similar recent reviews about the same 2 employees, which tells me that these two seem to be a reoccuring theme in unpleasant interactions with customers. read more

I love Licks and grew up biking there with my family. The location is fantastic despite parking being minimal. It's a short walk from the water so you can easily walk down to the shores of Excelsior Bay and check out the park while eating ice cream. The ice cream is delicious and they have a lot of choices.
