I love that NYC is getting more Lidl locations, and this one is in a great spot right across from City Point, so I can fill in the gaps for things Trader Joe's doesn't sell. Two floors, with bakery and beverages downstairs for easy grab-and-go, and the rest of the groceries upstairs. When I stopped by, it wasn't too crowded in the aisles, and the shelves were pretty well-stocked (other than the items in the sales circular). Prices are affordable. I was already a rewards member from going to the Lidl in SI, but would recommend signing up before going for rewards, discounts, and the yearly birthday treat. Hoping for more Lidl stores all around Brooklyn!

    Gross carpet covering busted floor.

It's laughable how bad this store is, especially with the well-run location in Park Slope so nearby. Jus filthy all the time and maybe half of the self checkouts open (if any at all). The icing on the cake is the fact that instead of fixing the floor near the refrigerated section -- which has been busted since opening -- they just put down a cheap throw rig, which is now of course disgusting as well.

    PROOF OF PURCHASE.

The store layout is a little unusual IMO, with the bakery section downstairs and the rest of the grocery store upstairs.

The Bad Wife - The return policy on the plants

This is a brilliant little grocery with all the essentials and quite a bit of Asian variety…read moreavailable too, along with a small produce selection. There's a lot packed in there! It's a good choice for coffee, snacks, but also fennel, vegan food, kimchi, or eucalyptus cuttings (and, like many small grocery stores, some things are better deals than others). Importantly for the neighborhood, Bad Wife also sell live plants and flowers at very reasonable prices. In the spring and summer, they'll often have flowering plants available. I've always had great interactions with the staff here, and am a fan of the place.

Earlier today, I purchased several plants. In the evening, I returned to the store to return those…read moreitems, for a refund. I no longer wanted those plants. Mrs. Lee refused to accept the return. She referred to a sign that read, plants are not returnable. That particular sign was displayed at at the back of the plant section, on a high shelf. Interestingly enough, at the cash register, there is a sign that states, "Refund policy provided within 2 days receipt." It is mandatory for stores to visibly display their return policy at the cash register. 'The Bad Wife' failed to do so. Mrs. Lee's attitude was rude and dismissive despite being told return policies must be clearly visible by the cash register.
