Wanting to get a hat made so I go in to this spot and at first over hearing a sales rep talking to another about a customer on a discount, this guy says the customer should of read the sign first. Besides that I'm still looking into getting a hat, the guy was just short with me and saying ( I got you). I picked my hat and asked for embroidery and wanted the text to be upside down. I paid 50 plus dollars for this and when I get it, holy shit not what I wanted. The lettering was backwards and upside down. I am not satisfied or happy. I told him this isn't what I wanted but he didn't want to try and fix it or try and do anything about the hat, I even said I'd have to buy another and do it again and he just walked away, so I'm stuck with a 50$ hat and would of liked to get it fixed but this guy didn't want to help me. read more

I recently started visiting malls again - an activity I used to love to do here in San Diego but had to work hard to overcome some things to get the confidence and desire to go back again. Lids has always been a favorite and the first thing I did after entering the store was to renew my membership, which comes with a sharp discount on all products, either 20 percent on ball caps or 10 percent off on items like jerseys. It's a great service and with the high cost of many ball caps these days, it's nice to have something that at least covers a little more than the tax on the product. There are four or five sports shops at the Westfield Plaza Bonita Shopping Mall. I have to say that they are all good and I imagine that there's some steep competition between them. But Lids has one thing that the others don't. The ability to create designer ball caps for its customers. This makes Lids stand apart from the rest. I won't say it is the number one sports shop at this mall, but no doubt it helps keeps the shop in the running for number one. And as I have had excellent custom designed ball caps in the past at a Lids in Jacksonville, FL, this Lids here in National City did not in any way disappoint! I think I drove the employees crazy as I took so much time to choose a ball cap, but they were all very courteous and lent me the time needed to make a good choice. I wanted to get a Padres ball cap too, but I'll save that for another time - I have two or three already with my few Padres jerseys. To get the best out of Lids, make sure you spend the annual $10 fee to become a member! After two or three hats you purchase, it pays for itself. Also, get on the Lids mailing list as there are times they have outstanding discount sales on ball caps and other gear. I've gotten great team ball caps between $10-$20 in the past when these deals roll around a couple of times each year. I have purchased items at the other sports shops in the San Diego area. First off I think it's very unprofessional to take my hat off of the machine for a customization I've already paid for to help out your friends. I had a pick up time on my receipt showed up 10 min prior and patiently waited watched someone come in high five the employees and ask for something and you take my hat off the machine multiple times and watched multiple hats get customized even though mine was already on the machine. I waited almost an hour past my pickup time because they did that. I already had to go somewhere else to purchase my hat because they didn't carry the hat I originally wanted and I come in as paying customer to this ...... Mind you not once did they approach me to let me know that theirs a delay on my hat.... I was waiting patiently right outside the door and they saw me waiting as well.....I left my number as well and didn't even receive a phone call. Time to update my review. Had a very good shopping experience coming in today. Needed to buy some new baseball caps for my son. Due to him wearing mine. Which I felt was not acceptable. Time to get his own. Going to Plaza Bonita. Even though other stores were selling baseball caps. The Lids store in Plaza Bonita had the best selection. My son is having a birthday coming up so I was solving two problems. Him not wearing my hats anymore as well as buying his birthday gift early. He is happy. I am happy. Everybody is happy. The sales guy (Francis) was really cool. Easy to talk to, no pressure selling and didn't treat us like we weren't worth his time. The guy was there when we needed him and wasn't when we didn't. Ended up getting three ball caps. So we were successful. Support local businesses especially the good ones. The Lids in Plaza Bonita is one of the good ones. Best hat store in the mall. Frank helped me for LITERALLY 1 hour...he was professional, informative, and PATIENT! It being Fathers Day weekend, this place was ALREADY busy. Their selection was good, they have a *buy 1 get (almost) EVERYTHING 1/2 off. It was neat, clean, and filled with not only costumers...but employees willing to help with ANYTHING, which to me is hard to find and ONE of the most important things in ANY store. My husband is CRAZY picky when it comes to his hats, so that alone was tough. He's really into gaming...so i was in this search to find his gamer ID (to stitch on the hat), but my phone was dead, Frank literally helped me find it (which included: using HIS phone, THEIR charger, and him researching his PS4 app, to find it) *** AND THE CRAZY PART IS, that it took an additional 15+ minutes to find the RIGHT hat for my picky husband, and it wasnt because of the lack of selection, it was because of how picky he is, and for me to find one, was a pretty big deal! Paid $60 for a hat with flames on the front. Special Order. Was supposed to be just the outline of the flames, the guy in the store even showed us a sample. The final product didn't look ANYTHING like the sample. The guy filled in the flames. It doesn't even look like flames now; it looks like a Christmas tree that's on fire. He should have just been honest with us that he doesn't know how to use the machine, and maybe ask us to come back when someone else with better training was there; or offered to give us our money back for the obvious screw up. I hate giving one star reviews but this is beyond my belief. I have been a Lids premium member since 2016. I came here early this week to "special order" an exclusive baseball cap for the 2019 World Series. Since I am a member, I am entitled to a 20% discount from the store. They usually run my email through their system and they give me the discount no problems. Well, today, I was told that they send emails out now with a code every month and I need that code to get the discount. Ok, so I take out my phone and scurry through old emails to find the code. After ten minutes, I decide to look in my spam folder and sure enough it is there. I place my order and the guy at the register is perplexed that the code is no going through. He speaks with his manager and the manager explains that the code does not apply to exclusive offers which puzzled me because the past few years I have gotten my World Series caps with the discount with no issues. He mentioned that it is a new policy this year that it did not apply. Oh well, I had no choice but to pay full price. I got an email confirmation that my order would arrive soon. An hour later, I got an email that my order has been cancelled and refunded. I called their customer support line and the lady hung up on me as she was looking through my order. I made the order again that same day online and it went through. Next day, email saying it got cancelled and refunded. I don't know what is going on but they lost on my purchase. read more

I went to this place earlier today, and I asked for my name to be in a certain spot on the hat . The guy who first helped me was polite and nice, but the manager, JP was rude and dismissive. They had told me my hat would be ready in 30 mins but I had to call back after an hour because they hadn't contacted me yet. When I went to go pick it up I noticed that it wasn't how I asked for it. When I asked for them to fix it JP (the manager) was being rude to his younger employee and being dismissive towards me not really listening to what I wanted it to actually look like. When I would try to explain how I wanted the hat he would respond with an attitude and would ignore me to talk to other customers, even after I waited for him to attend me. Misunderstandings happen, but when they do they should still be handled in a professional manner. The stitching on the hat was coming off extremely easily, and it was overall not what I told them I wanted. I has also asked JP to capitalize the first letter and said it's how the font goes. Do not ever buy anything from plaza Bonita lids. Bunch of scam artist they refused to refund my money back to my credit card, also refused a gift card as well. I bought a yankee hat that they charged on there online website with a gift card for me. They said it would be Ship to there location. Well with that said the item was sold out they failed to tell me that, when I asked for a refund they admitted to throwing the gift card out. I asked for it to be put on another gift card or refunded back to my card they refused and made excuse they are unable to. The manager literally handed me a piece or receipt paper with a number on it saying here your gift card. Dude you must have me fucked up lucky I did not punch you in your mouth.
